A/N: Hey guys back with another chapter! Hope you like it!
Demigods don't get much in the way of...well anything. Ever since she was young and on the streets, Annabeth learned that demigods don't get school, or homes, or even life for that matter. Constantly hunted, normalcy is just running and fighting.
When she finds camp, she thinks that maybe there's some hope. Home and food, and education, family. And most importantly, safety.
But even then, she watches as homes burn to the ground and family falls to the floor and the safety falters as another horde of enemies come through.
And just when it feels so hopeless, that being a demigod is just the short end of the stick of life, she feels a pressure against her arm and her shoulder bumps into something hard and he's there.
If there is one thing that makes being a demigod worth it, it's him.
So maybe demigods don't get much in the way of life, maybe life is usually short, and maybe they've got every odd stacked up against them.
But Annabeth is, if anything, stubborn. And maybe that's the demigod inside of her, maybe it's the long burning temper of the gods in her veins, but one look at him and she's ready to prove the entire world wrong.
Because, this, she stares at where his hand has enveloped hers, this is something that's going to last. This is something that's going to survive, and more than that, it's going to take everything they throw at it and prove them wrong.
Sea-green eyes meet hers and though he doesn't say it out loud his eyes are screaming his love for her. And she knows hers are screaming right back.
Because they're going to do it. They might be remembered as heroes in the war but that's a battle everyone fights. Shockingly enough, the daughter of Athena doesn't care much for being a war hero.
She's aiming for the infinitely harder thing when it comes to being a demigod, life, love.
As cliche as it sounds, she wants to pave a different path. She wants to go down as the greatest love story that this place has ever seen.
To prove to the world, to the other demigods like her who stumbled in half dead just thankful for some food, that there is more to life than just surviving. That despite the odds, they can thrive. They can find it in themselves to love, to live.
She squares her shoulders and turns back to the battle in front of her, her hand slipping out of his to grab her shield but still feeling the press of his back as he readies his sword. This is what she's fighting for.
This is the legend of Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase.
A/N: So what did you guys think? This one is pretty obvious, this concept that life is so much more than we believe, it's more than survival and I understand sometimes survival is all we have but when possible dare to think you can do so much more :)
Please Review! I'd love to hear your thoughts!
And as always, thanks for reading!
