Haley, Lucas and Karen. A,long with Andy and Lily were sitting around the table at Karen's Cafe. Having dinner like they used to do when Haley and Lucas was in high school. After Karen will close the cafe for the night. Karen would make dinner for them all and they would eat inside the cafe before going home. Tonight felt like old times. As Haley took a drink of her wine. She set the glass down as she clears her throat.
" So, Karen. How does it feel being back in Tree Hill?" Haley asked as she took another bite of her food. Tonight for dinner Haley decided to make barbecue chicken with macaroni cheese and corn on the side. While Haley was trying to listen to what Karen was saying her mind started to drift off as the image of Nathan's ex started to burn a hole in her mind again. She suddenly snapped out of it when she felt Lucas giving her a little nudge.
" Huh?" Haley asked as she looked over at Lucas.
" Are you okay Hales?" Lucas asked with concern." You sorta spaced out for a minute there." Lucas clarified as he took another bite of his chicken before taking a drink of his soda.
Haley shrugs her shoulders as she shook her head." It's nothing really I was just thinking about something that's all. It's not important right now." Haley said as she wasn't gonna let the fact Nathan's ex is town ruin her night. That was tomorrow's problem.
Lucas looked at Haley as a knew something was clearly bothering her but decided to not to ask questions until later when everyone is gone.With his mom, Andy and little sister around now wasn't the time to ask her what was bothering her.
Haley could feel Lucas staring at her as she clears her throat and changed the subject." So, Karen are you guys coming back in time for Lucas's and Peyton's wedding?"
Karen looked over at Andy for a moment who shrugs his shoulders." Um, yeah I think so. When is the wedding Luke?" Karen asked as she looked over at her son. Yesterday Karen found out that he and Peyton just got engaged and she was happy for the couple. In the beginning when Karen found out they were dating. Karen wasn't to fond of Peyton since she always thought Lucas and Brooke was gonna settle down and get married, since she always liked Brooke. But after awhile Peyton started to groriginally
" I'm not entirely sure. But I think Peyton is hoping for a spring wedding, so probably around March or April. " Lucas answered as he took another bite of his macaroni and cheese. Lucas hasn't really thought about the whole wedding thing since he just figured that Peyton's pretty much gonna be planning the whole thing anyway.
" Do you know who's going to be your best man?" Andy asked.
" Well,originally I was gonna have my uncle Keith be my best man. But since that's not gonna happen. I was thinking of asking Nathan to be my best man." Lucas always thought that if he was to get married some day he was going to ask Keith to be his best man. But Both Lucas and his mom lost Keith, when he got into a really bad car accident and died instantly. The other driver is now spending a lifetime in prison.
After dinner and after Lucas walked his mom and Andy out to their car after carrying a very tired Lily. He came back into the cafe and helped Haley clean up." So, are you going to tell me what's going on in that head of yours?" Lucas asked as he helped her wipe down the table.
Haley shrugs her shoulders and shook her head." It's nothing really. " Haley answered lying as she was avoiding eye contact with Lucas.
" Haley, you been kinda quiet all through dinner. Which isn't normal for you since you love to talk. Especially with my mom around and your usually talking her ear off. So what's up?" Lucas asked as he looks at her for a moment.
" Whatever it is, you know you can tell me Hales. I mean I am your best friend in the whole entire world. " Lucas said with a chuckle." So I know when there's something wrong.*
Haley signs as she sat down by the counter."Nathan's ex girlfriend is in town."
" Rachel? You actually met her?" Lucas asked in shock as he couldn't believe that Haley would actually meet Nathan's ex since they only been together for only five months. Lucas remembered when he first met Rachel when her and Nathan started dating during Nathan's and Lucas' senior of college. Lucas thought Rachel was just a stuck up bitch and he was so glad that Nathan finally came into his sense and dumped her ass.
" Well, I didn't really meet her. I sorta saw walking out of the elevator of his apartment building as I was about to walk into the elevator. Of course I had no idea who she was, honestly. I thought she was some cheap hooker especially with all that make up she was wearing. I didn't know she was Nathan's ex until he came to the cafe yesterday and told me."
Lucas snickers little as he heard Haley call Rachel a cheap hooker." What did Nathan say?" Lucas asked as he sat down beside her.
Haley signs as she chuckled lightly." He basically said that he didn't know that Rachel was here or why she's here. He also said that I had nothing to worry about because there's nothing going on between them.He believes that Dan is the reason why Rachel is here."
Lucas scoffs as he shook his head." I'm not surprised about that. Dan Scott always has to meddle in Nathan's life." Lucas was lucky that Dan never stuck his nose in his business, and that was mainly because Dan was never in Lucas' life when Lucas was growing up. Dan left his mom once Dan found out she was pregnant. But he still felt bad for Nathan though.
Haley blew,out some air as she ran her fingers through her hair." We should probably close up head home." Haley said as she got up from her barstool and walked around the counter to grab her jacket and purse. She doesn't know why Nathan's ex is here or what she wants she just hopes she won't have to run into that red head bitch ever again.
Nathan had just gotten out of the shower when he heard a knock coming from his door. Nathan sighs for a moment as he threw on some sweat pants on." Hold on a sec." He called out when he walked out of his room and across the living room towards his door. As soon as Nathan opened the door he groans with irritation.
" Rachel. " Nathan said with a bad taste in his mouth.
" Mhmmm, starting without me?" Rachel asked with a smirk as she smirks and walked into Nathan's apartment when she heard Nathan close the door behind him." Like seriously Nate, you have so much money and you could've lived in a way better place then this." She cringed as she was disgusted with Nathan's apartment.
" What the hell are you still doing here, Rachel? I thought I told you yesterday that I didn't want nothing to do with you and to leave town." Nathan said as he crossed his arms over his chest.
" Yeah, I actually thought of leaving but then I realized we haven't quite finished our conversation. Well technically we haven't started our conversation since you basically kicked me out." Rachel said as she also crossed her arms over her chest.
Nathan shrugs his shoulders." What conversation? What are you talking about?"
Rachel dropped her hands as she opened up her purse and pulls out her wallet. She then pulls out a picture of a little girl and walks up to Nathan and shows him." I'm talking about this." She answered as she watched Nathan take the photo from her hand.
" Who's the little girl?" Nathan asked in confusion when he couldn't understand why Rachel would actually show him this." Why are you showing me this?"
" Her name is Emily and she's our daughter." Rachel said as she dropped the bombshell.
" What?!" Nathan asked as he looks at Rachel and then back down at the photo once more. Nathan was,lost for words as he didn't know what to say or even do at this moment. Out of all the reasons why Rachel would come into town. This was the last thing Nathan expected.
" She's three years old." Rachel said as she took the picture back from Nathan." She's your daughter Nathan."
" How's that even possible? We had broken up three years ago. Two months before our college graduation actually." Nathan said as he shook his head." There's no way she's mine." He said as he walked past her and into his kitchen and grabs a beer from his fridge.
" Please don't remind me." Rachel said with an eye roll." I didn't find out I was pregnant with our daughter until a,month after we had broken up. Look I know this sounds crazy since it's been three years and we haven't talked since then. But I am telling you Nathan. You are her father and you know me, I would never lie about this."
Nathan scoffs as he shook his head." That's funny considering you would lie about everything else in our relationship and that's one of the main reasons why we broke up. Among other things." He mumbles as he took a drink of his beer.
" Are you saying that you don't believe me?" Rachel asked as she crossed her arms over her chest again.
" Of course I don't believe you Rachel. Wanna know why? Because we weren't having sex around the time we were on the verge of breaking up. As matter of fact to prior of us breaking up, we were barely together. I was busy with basketball and you were too busy cheating on me with half of the guys on the team." Nathan spats out.
" Fine, don't belive me. But Emily's your's Nathan and I would never lie about that. Maybe an DNA test will prove to you that your the father." Rachel said as she turned around and storms out of his apartment and slams his door shut.
Nathan scoffs as he watched Rachel storms out as he shook his head." There's no way in hell Nathan is the father of that little girl and if he has to take an DNA test to prove that he's not. Than that's exactly what he's gonna do and then maybe she can finally leave him the hell alone and move on with her life.
