After Haley finished serving the last two customers, she walked back around the counter and set the coffee pot back into the coffee machine. It's been two days since Nathan took the DNA test, and Nathan has been waiting patiently for two days for the results, while Haley has been checking her mailbox every five minutes. She just wants to know the results already.
" You doing okay over there Hales?" Lucas asked as he noticed how quiet his best friend was for the past twenty minutes.
Haley nodded her head. "Yeah, I'm just waiting for the results of the DNA test, and I really want to know the results...no, scratch that, I need to know the results."
"Are you concerned that it will be positive?"
Haley shook her head. "No, well maybe just a little. Of course I trust Nathan and I believe him when he says that he's not the father. But now that he has finally taken the test, I can't help but wonder if everything he told me was the truth or not."
"Haley, Nathan loves you and he would never hurt you. Besides, we both know that he's not the father of Rachel's daughter and the results will prove her wrong." Lucas is confident that the results will be negative and he can't wait until Rachel finally leaves.
"I know he loves me; I've never had any doubts about that, nor have I ever questioned his love for me. But what if the results come back positive and he is the father? I mean, what do I do about that? Do I stand by his side and help raise his little girl, or do I walk away from him and throw away almost a year of my life with him?"
Lucas shrugged his shoulders and shook his head. "I can't answer that question," he said. "You're going to have to figure that out for yourself."
Haley sighed as she nodded her head." Yeah, I know." Hearing the chime sound coming from the cafe door as it opened, she looked over her shoulder and saw Nathan walking into the cafe. She also noticed a white envelope in his hand.
"Is that what I think it is?" she asked as she walked over to him.
Nathan nods his head as he hands over the envelope." I didn't want to open it without you and I didn't want to wait until tonight." Nathan answered as he watched Haley taking the envelope out of his hands.
" I will give you two some privacy." Lucas said as he started to walk towards the cafe kitchen.
" No, Luke it's okay. I want you to stay for this." Haley said as she took a deep breath and ripped opening the envelope. Pulling out the paper and once she unfolded the paper, Haley gasps as she couldn't believe it. " Oh my God."
" What does it say?" Nathan asked as he getting nervous by the look on Haley's face.
Haley looks up at Nathan as a smile spread across her face." You're not the father. The results came back negative."
" What? Are you serious?" Nathan questioned as he took the results from Haley's hands so he could see the results for himself.
" That's awesome man." Lucas said as he gave Nathan's shoulder a squeeze as he congratulate his little brother and was very happy that results came back negative." So, does this mean Rachel can finally start packing and leave town?"
" Uh... yeah." Nathan answered as he still couldn't believe the DNA test actually came back negative.
" Is everything okay?" Haley asked as she frowns a little. This is what we wanted for the results to come back negative so we don't have to deal with your ex anymore. "
" Yeah of course it is. I guess in the back of my mind I always thought it would come back positive, But I'm glad that it didn't. Because we can finally put this whole Rachel mess behind us and move on." Nathan answered with a smile as he leans down and kisses her deeply and passionately as he grins against her lips.
" Okay so I'm going to get out of here and go see if Peyton wants to catch an early movie and dinner." Lucas said as he reached for his jacket from behind the counter.
" Are we making you feel uncomfortable?" Haley asked with a smirk.
" Just a little bit." Lucas answered with a laugh." I will see you guys later." He said as he gave them a wave and walked out of the cafe.
Haley chuckled as she shook her head a little. She then looks over at Nathan for a moment." Now that we got actual proof that you're not the father, what are we going to do about Rachel?"
Nathan looks at the results for a moment as he sighs deeply as he looks at Haley." Looks like, I'm going have to talk to Rachel."
Haley nods her head in understanding. " I will come with you."
" Are you sure?"
Haley nods her head again as she leans up and kisses him deeply as she placed her hand against his face as she slowly pulls away." I'm coming with you. you don't have to talk to her alone. Besides I don't trust your ex, I don't trust that she won't try to twist everything up or try to make a move on you."
Nathan chuckles as he wrapped his arms around Haley's waist and pulls her closer to him as he kisses her forehead deeply." Rachel can't have me babe, I'm all yours." He said with a smirk.
Haley looks up as she gently bit her bottom lip." Mhmmm, yes you are." She replied seductively as she leans up and kisses him deeply and passionately as she moans softly against his lips as she grabs a fist full of his shirt." Take me home."
Nathan placed both hands against her face as he continues to kiss her more deeply and passionately. He smirks against her lips as he nods his head." Let's go home." He said as he took her hand into his as they both walked out of the cafe together.
Walking up to Rachel's hotel room a few hours later, Haley looked at Nathan for a moment."You ready to do this?" She asked as she noticed the look of doubt written on his face.Standing between him and the door, Haley reached up and placed her hand against his cheek."Hey, everything is going to be okay." She said reassuringly.
Nathan leans down and kisses Haley gently before nodding his head in agreement." Yeah, let's do this."
Haley nods her head as she turns around and knocks on Rachel's door.
Opening the door to her hotel room as soon as she heard a knock, Rachel smiled slightly as Nathan was the first person she noticed."Well, this is a pleasant surprise; I can't seem to get away from you, huh?" She asked as she bit her bottom lip.
Haley rolled her eyes with annoyance as she watched Rachel flirting with Nathan right in front of her. "You do realize that I'm standing right here, don't you?"
Rachel sighed exasperatedly, and she also rolled her eyes. "I know, I was kind of hoping you weren't though. So what brings you two here?" Rachel asked as she walked away from them and went to the mini bar, where she poured herself a drink.
"The results for the DNA test came in," Nathan said as he and Haley walked into Rachel's hotel room, closing the door behind them. "We have the results if you want to see them."
"You actually have them?" Rachel asked skeptically, as she wasn't sure if she believed him or not.
Nathan pulled the envelope from his back pocket and handed it to Rachel. "Here, take a look."
Setting her glass down, Rachel sighed as she took the envelope from Nathan's hand. Taking the piece of paper out of the envelope, she quickly unfolded it. Shaking her head in disbelief, she said, 'This can't be right. Is this some kind of trick?'
" Sorry to disappoint you, but no tricks. It's true Rachel, Nathan is not the father of your daughter." Haley answered as she reached for Nathan's hand and locked her fingers through his." Now that you see the results, you can now leave Tree Hill and leave us alone."
Rachel kept staring at the results dumbfounded as she didn't expect them to come back negative; she was hoping they would come back positive. Taking a deep breath, she set the results down and sighed. "Well, I guess that's it, huh? The end of the Rachel and Nathan story?"
Yeah, this is where our story ends," Nathan said. A small part of him felt bad for Rachel, and of course, he would never forget her. They had some good times together, and he did love her. But his relationship with Rachel was behind him now, and he needed to focus on what was right in front of him - which was Haley, and their future.
"Come on, Nate," Haley whispered softly as she gently tugged on his hand, leading him towards the door and pulling him along with her.
Nathan looked over at Rachel for a moment before speaking."I hope you do find the father, Rach. Good luck." He said with a nod as he walked out of Rachel's hotel room, closing the door behind him.
Haley steps up to him as she throws her arms around his neck, pulling him down and kissing him deeply and passionately. She slowly pulls away for a moment before saying, "I love you."
Nathan grinned as he massaged his thumbs against her cheekbones, cupping her face in the palms of his hands. "I love you too," he whispered. "Come on, let's get out of here." He said, wrapping his arm around her waist and walking away from Rachel's hotel room.
Now that whole Rachel mess is over with and Nathan got nothing to worry about. He and Haley can move on and Rachel could go back to Los Angeles, and never return.
