Hi, so here we are again! Once again I am going back to this wonderful fandom that gave me so much over the course of my writing. I know I have took a bit of a long break from this fandom but I recently watched all the first six series of OUAT and the idea's kept popping into my head left, right and centre starting with this one.
I love Outlaw Queen. I love Regina, I don't why everyone got to be with the person they loved but her. I honestly don't know what the point of that ending for her in Season 7 was but then I don't get the point of Season 7 at all to be honest. So this is my stab at giving her something-eg, a happy ending with Robin with no Marian.
On that note-I have a love/hate relationship with the Charmings, Seasons 1, 3, 5 they are fine, Season 2 ish, 4 okay until we get to the last bit, but Season 6...that bit with Snow, Emma and Belle about Gideon is a scene that makes me so angry I have to stop watching. So yeah...if you are looking for a lovey dovey on the ball happy Charming story this isn't going to be it. To be honest at times Emma gets on my nerves when it comes to Regina so...I will try and keep this as neutral as possible but the Charmings especially Snow are not my favourite characters nor will they ever be.
Disclaimer-Nothing is mine I am just playing with the characters.
I predict this is going to be twenty chapters long. And there will be a few chapters set in the Enchanted Forest.
Please Read and Review and let me know what you think and I will try and update as soon as work and life allows me.
Also I am not great with spelling and grammar. Nor is this story going to be cannon or dialogue compliment. Something to have in mind if that's your thing.
And there will be some swearing in this story so keep that in mind.
As of now I am not taking prompts nor I am answers PMs so please do keep that in mind too. Any questions leave it in a review and I will try and answer it in the notes part of each story.
Storybook Love (Every Version Of You)
Chapter 2-Fires Of The Mind
Henry is back in Storybrooke as is Emma and she has some questions that Regina can't answer. Meanwhile in the Enchanted Forest Regina meets a man who smells like forest and has very nice green eyes. If you notice that kind of thing which she defiantly did not.
She had dropped her tray. She was pregnant, she had dropped her tray, her son was back and he looked right through her and Regina had thought when Daniel died, when Henry had died abet temporary, when she'd been falsely accused and she'd lost her son, when she had lost her father…okay when she had killed her father, she'd known all the kinds of pain in the world but this was a new kind of pain and it was hitting her hard.
Also hitting her hard was the baby in her belly. The kicking thing was new. Regina had never experienced anything like this before and she was not totally sure she liked it. If one more person made a comment about her pregnancy she was going to snap and that included her stepdaughter whose dream it was (apparently—thank God she had not been there for that cave debacle) to carry another child and who was looking at Regina with a heartbreak that did not—at least for her—inspire sympathy.
Emma took her to the side and she listened to the plan and she explained her side of things but the truth was she was as lost in this as the rest of them. The one might who might have helped her was dead, her son thought of her as a stranger and she has dropped her tray in the biggest threat to her composure. Also as she sat in Granny's with her iced tea after the whole office stakeout thing she realised that blood magic, the oldest and the strongest type of magic that she knew was failing her because how else had the intruder gotten in?
"What are you thinking?"
She looked up to see Snow standing there.
"I don't know how it failed"
"Oh, the magic?"
"Yes. I don't know how someone could get into that room. It's the oldest magic, as old as time itself and I do not understand how someone got in there. Everything is failing and this damn thing inside of me keeps kicking, I need to go to the bathroom all the time and I don't know how you stood it."
Snow laughed sitting down and Regina sighed. Her stepdaughter and her relationship was achingly awkward at times but Snow was still the same woman she had always been and it would have never occurred to her that maybe Regina didn't want a comforting word or a supportive pep talk on the wonders of motherhood. Not when there was a boy upstairs who she had helped to walk who thought her a complete stranger with shaky hands and a big belly.
"With Emma I had the worst heartburn. But it passed, it always does. And then you hold that baby in your arms Regina and you won't care about what your body went through during pregnancy. I am so envious of you. I want this to be me."
"At least if it was you, you'd know who the father of your baby is and how it was conceived" Regina said. She didn't want to acknowledge how deeply she was afraid of who had gotten her pregnant. She was a strong grown woman but she didn't know who the father of her child was or how it had been conceived and that frightened the shit out of her.
Snow nodded. "I understand" she said softly. "But try to think on happier things, you're having a baby!"
Regina nodded. "I want a healthy happy child" she allowed grudgingly. "But it's hard to imagine a baby, Henry was my baby, Henry doesn't remember me."
"Emma didn't remember me"
Regina sighed. Pointless to remind Snow that she had not remembered Emma either.
"I know it's different but…but this could be your second chance."
"There's a Witch out there who can get around blood magic. People are disappearing and my son doesn't remember me. It's hard to think about anything other than that. I don't even know how…how to do a nursery or anything like that. I don't have baby names or…medical care or anything. It's hard to be excited about something so unplanned that a week ago I only found out about it"
Snow tapped her nails on the table. "Do you think you can get our memories back?"
"I don't know. If I can I will but…it's the blood magic bit that concerns me. And the problem is that the one person who might have some inkling about what is going on is dead"
Snow smiled at her for a second and then patted her on the hand. "It will all work it's way out in the end" she said in that terribly annoying way that she had. "I know it will. But try to be excited Regina. A baby! It's a great blessing."
Regina didn't have the heart to tell that for her it was a mixed blessing. Even for her that might be going too far.
But my oh my what she wouldn't do to get her memories back.
She wanted to know who was the father of her baby.
Robin Hood.
That was what he called himself. Robin Hood.
Hmm.
She didn't bother to look at him directly as he walked his son in his arms. She did however shoot looks at him from under her lashes. Her mother had taught her how to do that, Regina had been on the prowl for a husband before she had even known what the great chessboard her mother was playing on was. And it was nice to look at him she thought. Certainly he had not been hiding behind the door when God gave out good looks and as lewd a thought as it was for a Queen she was willing to bet if she threw a quarter at his ass it would bounce off.
And his son was adorable. He reminded her of Henry at that age and while her heart broke all over again when she thought of her son it was the good kind of hurt this time, like she was remembering the good things instead of only the bad.
It didn't matter anyhow. Regina had a plan, once she got to the castle, once she got to her vault she was going to put herself to sleep and that would be the end of that.
It was quite soothing to know that she had a plan but as the little boy smiled at her over his father's shoulder and she smiled back she couldn't help but hope that that little boy got the happy ending that he deserved.
"You like him" Snow teased and she only just resisted rolling her eyes.
"He's a very sweet boy" she said casually.
"Not the boy, the father"
"Go away" she snapped and Snow retreated back to her husband. Regina rolled her eyes. She too was missing a child—would it kill the woman to at least act like it?
Following the Evil Queen (who had just saved his son to boot) into the bowls of the castle only to find out she had a suicide plan, only for her then to force him to stand there trapped perhaps forevermore was not what Robin had, had in mind for today.
Now he had to stand here and watch as the most captivating woman he'd seen in a long time walked out of her own castle to place herself under a spell that might never be broken the fight drained out of her.
And he hated it.
He closed his eyes and tried to move his knees but he still couldn't move. He felt sick.
Did she not get how captivating she was? How after seconds of being in her presence Robin needed her back like he needed the air to breathe? Did she not get that even without the need for her as a group, he needed her?
And that quite frankly was where he thought he was being ridiculous because he had just met this woman. And she was a Queen, and she had magic, and she was apparently evil. Sherwood had been spared during the curse but it didn't mean he was ignorant. And even if he wasn't he was not some lovesick, lovelorn twit like Baelfire who believed in love at first sight.
But somehow this woman in between saving his son from a flying monkey and baring her soul to him, had gotten under his skin in a way he had not expected. He didn't know how she had managed to do it but he felt drunk on her very presence.
He also didn't want to say that she was blisteringly attractive but come on! Robin was a red hot blooded male and Regina, the Queen was…well…
But he knew the depths of the despair that she was going through right now. He had never lost Roland but for ten seconds this morning as he had tried to shove past the bodies of the people crowding in on him he had come very close. He knew that had it not been for Regina there wouldn't have been a little boy standing there when he had finally managed to shove past Charming.
Fuck.
Just as he was about to give up he heard the sound of tapping footsteps and he turned to see her coming towards him. Something had changed in her presence and in her demeanour and Robin didn't know what but he knew as she released him that the spark in her was back.
Maybe she'd found something to live for.
"Love?" he asked quietly as she put the potion away. He didn't think that she had heard him because her next response was to tell him that she had someone to destroy.
Wasn't entirely what Robin had been looking for but at this point he would take what he could get.
At least until he could find a quiet room and give himself a stern talking to.
Regina thought as she looked around the room she had decided to make her nursery that this was a good step. Okay so she had no idea what or who was after her and her friends (sort of) and her son didn't remember her but as much as she loathed to admit it Snow had a point. This baby she was carrying was going to pop out of her soon and she had better start making good on it's arrival.
"It's not you" she said to the bump. "I wish I could feel more excited it's just…I'm not a naturally happy person you see. And I don't know who your father is and that is keeping me awake at night just as much as your brother is"
She got a kick for her trouble and she sighed. She didn't know what that meant other than the fact that the baby liked playing dance on her bladder.
She sat on the bed gingerly and then lay down closing her eyes. She was tired, so very achingly tired and every bone in her body seemed to ache but even though all she wanted to do was slip into sleep she couldn't.
Two things were keeping her awake, keeping her from slipping into unconsciousness even though it was midday and there was work to be done.
One. Everytime she closed her eyes she could see green flitting through her vision.
And two, she could imagine where her hands were rougher calloused hands caressing her belly. A warmth that made her want to relax and a hard back that she was leaning against as stubble brushed her hair and down her neck. She didn't know what it was that made her think of this but when her eyes fluttered open it was dark and she was very still.
Someone was in her room.
Someone was in her room.
Someone was in her room.
Whoever it was, it was the same person who had been in her office she knew that much. The dark hood in the corner and she felt eyes on her belly rather than hers and the aura of strong magic in the room. Again her house had blood magic on the locks so she didn't understand how anyone could get in uninvited. She wasn't some rookie at the job like Emma, she had been doing this long enough to be supremely confident in her magical abilities.
So how had this person got past them twice?
She remained very still watching the person out of the corner of her eye and then when she was ready she threw an energy ball at them.
They had disappeared before it hit as she had half expected but she struggled to sit up and she flipped her light on taking in the scorch mark.
Great.
Another thing to deal with.
But one thing was clear. Whoever this person was they wanted something to do with her, and by association her children.
And they were going to die.
Regina smiled.
She had always liked it best when she had someone to destroy.
And there you go, I hope that you enjoyed this chapter and I will bring you the next one sooner rather than later.
Next Chapter-In Storybrooke Regina finds out that her enemy is the Wicked Witch of the West. In the Enchanted Forest she finds that she is getting closer to the adorable boy with the stuffed monkey and his father the (dare she say it) charming rogue with the dashing green eyes.
