Hi, so here we are again! Once again I am going back to this wonderful fandom that gave me so much over the course of my writing. I know I have took a bit of a long break from this fandom but I recently watched all the first six series of OUAT and the idea's kept popping into my head left, right and centre starting with this one.
I love Outlaw Queen. I love Regina, I don't why everyone got to be with the person they loved but her. I honestly don't know what the point of that ending for her in Season 7 was but then I don't get the point of Season 7 at all to be honest. So this is my stab at giving her something-eg, a happy ending with Robin with no Marian.
On that note-I have a love/hate relationship with the Charmings, Seasons 1, 3, 5 they are fine, Season 2 ish, 4 okay until we get to the last bit, but Season 6...that bit with Snow, Emma and Belle about Gideon is a scene that makes me so angry I have to stop watching. So yeah...if you are looking for a lovey dovey on the ball happy Charming story this isn't going to be it. To be honest at times Emma gets on my nerves when it comes to Regina so...I will try and keep this as neutral as possible but the Charmings especially Snow are not my favourite characters nor will they ever be.
Disclaimer-Nothing is mine I am just playing with the characters.
I predict this is going to be twenty chapters long. And there will be a few chapters set in the Enchanted Forest.
Please Read and Review and let me know what you think and I will try and update as soon as work and life allows me.
Also I am not great with spelling and grammar. Nor is this story going to be cannon or dialogue compliment. Something to have in mind if that's your thing.
And there will be some swearing in this story so keep that in mind.
As of now I am not taking prompts nor I am answers PMs so please do keep that in mind too. Any questions leave it in a review and I will try and answer it in the notes part of each story.
And I will try and do another update before Christmas.
Storybook Love (Every Version Of You)
Chapter 3-Nobody Asked What Side You're On
In Storybrooke Regina finds out that her enemy is the Wicked Witch of the West. In the Enchanted Forest she finds that she is getting closer to the adorable boy with the stuffed monkey and his father the (dare she say it) charming rogue with the dashing green eyes.
She awoke in her bed feeling tired and achy and mourning her son and she dressed by herself letting her magic take hold of her so she didn't have to think. It felt odd. Her clothes felt odd, her jewels, all of it felt odd, defiled somewhat by the Witch that had dared to live in her palace eating off her table while Regina had been on her way here.
Things didn't feel the same. And that was before you got to the great gaping hole in her life that was her son lost to her forevermore.
She left the castle in the early stages of just waking up and she walked to the stables. She didn't know if she was going to go for a ride but she just wanted to out pace her thoughts, wanted to get away from them and the oppressing grief that was threatening to consume her.
"Hello"
And just like that the grief lifted…abet temporarily.
It was the small boy from before. Complete with his new stuffed monkey.
"Hello" she said dropping to a crouch to stare at him. "Are you alright?"
"Yes. Your Majesty"
Once she might have revelled in the title. But it didn't matter now. She had learnt the hard way that the only title that was worth anything to her at the end of the day was Mom.
That was what mattered to her. That was what was most important to her.
Mom.
"Regina is fine" she said quietly. "What's your name?"
"Roland" he said quietly. "And Papa says I am to say thank you for the stuffed toy. So thank you. I really like it. Even if it was scary in real life"
She listened a little to the babble of child talk and felt her heart warm at the sound of it. It had been a long time since Henry had spoken like this and so she sat down on the gate of the stables and Roland hoped up next to her without questioning. She steadied him gently.
"Are you sad?"
"Yes" she said compelled into honesty. "And upset"
"Cause of the Wicked Witch?"
"Yes"
"Because she might be coming after us all?"
Regina nodded though she made a promise here and now that this precious little boy was never going to be in the line of fire as far as that green skinned bitch was concerned. As far as Regina was concerned, as long as she had magic out of her fingers and breathe in her body she was going to do her best to ensure that this little boy was not bothered by the bitch pretending to be her sister.
And that was another box of snakes she had not yet touched. She didn't dare…Snow's reaction alone would be enough to give her a headache well into the next century.
"She won't be coming after us all" she said realising perhaps a little late that a five year old was not the best person to dump all of this on.
"She is going to be coming after me. But don't you worry I didn't get a name like mine because I was good. I got it because I can play dirty"
"Like mud puddles dirty?"
Regina considered it.
"Very" she said tapping him on his nose and watching as he giggled. "Your very smart Roland, how old are you?"
"Five and three quarters which is nearly six. People forget the three quarters but it's there" he said bopping his head up and down and looking like a serious wombat. She laughed and she fell a little bit more in love with him and his adorableness. For a second it made her forget that she missed Henry so much and that even if he could remember she doubted that Henry would miss her.
"I see" she said nodding. "Well I agree with you the three quarters makes all of the difference, why your practically a man—"
"Thank you" he said nodding his head and then.
"Roland"
She turned to see Robin Hood himself stood there minus the bow and dressed with the green hood today and her traitorous little heart gave a skip. She didn't know what was wrong with her usually an attractive man was nothing to her. Hell in her hey day as Queen she would openly admit that there was a steady stream of them heading upstairs to her bedroom and then out of the back door when she was done with them. She had never looked at anyone after Daniel without an agenda weather It was to take down Snow White or just to get her needs met but this time she was intrigued. He really was a very good looking man and she could not forget his gentleness the night before or how vulnerable he had been with her.
She could also not forget how vulnerable she had been with him either. Regina did not do vulnerability. She had always prided herself in both this life and the one she had left on being a strong independent woman who didn't need a man and that was mostly true.
"Your Majesty"
She inclined her head as Roland hoped off the fence.
"I do hope Roland hasn't been disturbing you?"
"Disturbing me? Please? Roland has more intelligence than most of my council put together"
Roland beamed even though Regina was willing to bet that he didn't understand all of what she had just said.
"Hear that Papa! The Queen thinks I'm smart. Told you I didn't need spelling to be smart"
Regina smothered her laugh just as Robin Hood caught her eye and grinned running a hand through his son's dark curls.
"Spelling is important son. Go and find Little John and he will see that you are at your books. Then if you can get it done I will see about taking you riding"
Apparently that was all the incentive the little boy needed as with a bow in which he nearly fell over to Regina he was gone in a haze of adorable waddling his arms outstretched, his monkey hanging from one hand.
Robin leaned against the fence next to her and grinned and for a second she forgot about being the Evil Queen and she grinned back at him.
"Sorry if he was bothering you" he said and she smiled. "He wasn't. He's actually quite adjusted all that he has been going through…I am surprised that my curse did not reach Sherwood"
Oh and why the hell was she mentioning that? Come on Regina get it together!
"Oh it very nearly did" Robin Hood said casually. "But we got through it"
"Aha"
"You're not with Snow White and Prince Charming? I understand that they were to give a speech to the masses today"
She groaned. "If I wanted to listen to a hope speech I would. Believe me she recycles the material more often than not and it's very boring. To be honest it wont do much. She can't defeat the Wicked Witch alone and she knows it. It's why she wants me there, a caged pet"
It took all of her Queenly training not to spit on the floor at that but instead of coming up with some cleaver defence of her stepdaughter he eyed her casually.
"You think you are a prisoner?"
"I was a prisoner in my marriage, I was a prisoner when the curse broke, I was a prisoner in my childhood, you don't have to see the cage and the chains to know that they are there"
He nodded his head at her and then.
"You didn't have a happy marriage?"
"No" she said shortly. "I didn't"
It was the closest she had ever come to telling anyone just how bad her marriage had been and she didn't even tell him that much when you looked back and thought of it. But at the same time she thought he understood. She wanted him to.
The depths of how much she wanted him to understand her given that he had known her for such a short amount of time and her him was staggering.
Regina woke up her baby kicking away happily. It took her a second to realise why she was trembling and it wasn't in fear. She found that she was almost breathless with desire and lust and for a second she didn't understand why. She was not some teenager who had just discovered what a man looked like, she was not the same blushing girl who used to dream about what Daniel looked like under the sheets, she was a Queen and she'd had more lovers in her time than looking back she cared to count. She didn't use her Black Knights just to hunt Snow down like the wild dog Regina had thought she was.
But now she was thinking of green eyes and calloused fingers and a wicked smirk and she was gasping upwards in the bed her hands folding into fists gripping the sheets with all that they were worth and she didn't know why.
Just another memory she had to conclude. But she wanted to know who the father of her child was because if it was the nameless, faceless man she was dreaming off then she wanted him here.
She found she was missing him like an ache, she found that she was missing him in the same way she'd missed Daniel like it was a missing limb and she was shivering with the need to keep him close. She wanted to burrow into his arms and let his hand rest on her belly and feel their baby kick and more than that…she wanted him here when she gave birth. The man that he was in her dreams would be here with her when she gave birth she thought. He would be here with her and he would hold her and comfort her and tell her that she was strong enough. Sometimes that was all she had ever wanted, just someone in the corner, her corner ready to fight for her because she was so tired she could not fight for herself. She had been doing that for such a long time that it was exhausting.
But now was not the time for sentimental melancholy. She got up out of the bed and she got dressed and she arrived at the cottage with seconds to spare. That was something else that had now been discovered. Something else that was new along with the monkeys.
The Wicked Witch.
Wonderful, as if Regina didn't have enough problems.
But they had found a house on the outskirts of town and Emma Swan being Emma Swan wanted to go and explore. To see what was there and who was there and Regina was not letting Emma trample through magic that she didn't understand. This was the only parent that Henry remembered and for him she would keep Emma alive. And even though she didn't want to admit it there was a very good chance that unless Emma pulled her finger out and actually started using the gifts that she had been given they were going to struggle in this fight.
But since when did anyone listen to Regina's opinion!
Her only caveat had been that Snow wasn't there. The woman was looking at her belly with an almost hungry expression. It didn't help that Regina knew that soon she was going to have to find some help. She was going to have to get ready and she was going to have to find a midwife.
Maybe she could set Snow off on that…at least that way the woman wouldn't be in her hair talking about baby clothes and did she want to find out the sex and was she sure she didn't know who the father was?
She heaved herself out of bed and sighed. She was so visibly huge now it was going to be difficult to walk soon. Her body was being taken over by this baby and she couldn't even remember how it happened nor if there was someone out there who had grudgingly grown to love this baby as much as she had—ruining her soft curves and all—it was getting draining.
But as she got herself together she found that she was able to hold her head high and smile but everytime she closed her eyes it was those green gems that kept her captivated and the smile that promised more as a desire she had never known wracked her to her core.
And that was what set her heart yammering in a way that she knew she was never, ever going to admit.
And there we go, never said this story was going to be cannon so here we go into the breach.
Next Chapter-Robin and Regina spend more time together in the Enchanted Forest both of them leaning more about the other's tragic past. Or a chapter that takes place entirely in the Enchanted Forest.
