A/N: Hello! Well you may want to read back through the story. I took out the last two chapters, because…. I found my original idea on my Microsoft account. Yay! My old computer crashed and I couldn't access it on my phone until just recently, and now I have a new laptop I can work easier on school work and wanting to actually right something other than essays for Principles of Management, I'm not much of a scholar unless its creatively writing an assignment. So, you may have noticed that I already made a chapter 9,10 and 11. Well I deleted the last 2 and chopped chapter 9 up and remade it with the original notes I had for chapter 9.
So, I hope that you can forget what happened last and go back to the end of the baseball game in the meadow with the Cullen's, Bella, Hermione, and the red eyes in the forest.
Sunrise Sunset
Chapter 9
Red eyes watched the Cullen clan from the shadow of the trees, the smell of human wafted the air. They could see more than one human before them, but one smelled much sweeter than the other. The mysterious eyes watched the game a foot and they longed to break it up, to devour the lovely humans in front of them.
The girl with the golden-brown hair looked familiar. Had they seen her somewhere before? Her scent had a clean flowery scent to it, like fresh cut roses or a bouquet of wildflowers. It was delightful, but a scent like this was meant to be left alone not devoured. No, no, no, and no, predators like them did not eat flowers.
The mysterious eyes wondered over her form and appearance. Did he the coven she ran around with thought she smelled as lovely as they did. She was such a stunning creature, and then there was the tall willowy girl with the dark brown hair and the alabaster skin and full red lips was just as divine. She did not smell as flowery as the girl whom they assumed was her sister. No, this girl had more of a musty scent to her, like an animal in heat. She must be in love with one of the vampires playing.
The eyes noted her for as well, she stood looking uncomfortable in her own skin, while her sister was relaxed, graceful and serene, she was a delightful sight, like a beautiful swan.
The three pairs of watching red eyes all agreed on one topic, they leave the swan alone and devour the tall willowy one. However, as they were coming to their conclusion the game was breaking up and the group started to walk away.
No! the eyes wanted to scream; YOU CANNOT GO! Stay with us, you belong with us, but just like the wind these thoughts were scattered away when the graceful swan with the wildflower scent turned and looked directly into their eyes. All coherent thought left their mind and they were left to wonder how these hazel honey eyes had found them in the darkness.
Hermione thought she felt something stir behind her as they were walking back to the Cullen house. However, when she turned to look there was nothing there, just the darkness that shrouded the forest. "That's funny," she said out loud to herself, "I swear someone was just watching."
The eyes breathed a sigh of relief when they realized she couldn't see them and walked back to the house with the coven she came with. They would have to consider their next move carefully; this could make them or break them. All they knew for sure was that the girl with the honey eyes was worth knowing.
Hermione and Bella in the accompany of Edward headed home. It was Jasper who had felt a threatening presence in the meadow when they were playing baseball. Jasper insisted that someone accompany them home, Edward volunteered, he was going to go anyway.
"Is this necessary?" Hermione asked quite annoyed.
"Yes," Edward said, in an exasperated tone as he pulled up to the house, "You said yourself that you thought you felt as if something was watching."
"Yes, but that was more to me, than it was a reason to suspicious. It could very well have been a wolf or a bear or something," she said in a placating manner. He shook his head at her before giving Bella a tender kiss on the lip, and a shoulder hug to Hermione before ushering them into the house. After arriving home, Jasper told Alice that she felt a disturbance in the woods when they were playing baseball and that Edward would be home after he was sure that they were safe. Alice looked worried, she hadn't had any visions but that wasn't unusual, the only thing they could do would to be cautious. Alice and Japer filled in Rosalie and Emmett they agreed to help with whatever plan they had in mind. Carlisle and Esme heard them speaking naturally, and just assumed that if anything come of it, they would have to step in. However, there was no point in worrying as they had it in hand. The couples retired to their own are of the house and enjoyed the little bit of peace they had. After they disappear inside, he slips around the house to hide in the tree line.
Back at the meadow, the red eyes in the forest, three vampires stood hidden behind the brush. Two were laughing and one was scowling in anger.
"They would make great targets," James said licking his lips, "well at least one of them, is seems Laurent is in love with the other."
"Tracking and killing two little girls sounds like fun to you?" Victoria said with a glint in her eyes, "I think that there is much more fun in the area to be had."
"What are you thinking?" James asked curiously stepping in closer to Victoria.
"How about a game," Victoria said with a sly smile.
"A game… Hmm?" James said running his hand through his hair, "sounds like a good time to me. What did you have in mind?"
It was settled, they would stay in the area for three weeks, pluck the girl if they could, and whoever caught her first, got to drink her dry. Let the hunt begin.
…
After Edward returned home in the early morning, the Cullen's sat down and had a chat.
"I had a vision," Alice said, suddenly, "there are other vampires in Forks."
"And?" Rosalie asked annoyed that it was taking Alice to come to the point, "are you going to continue or not?"
"They made a decision," Alice said in what she considered her concerned voice, "they want Bella."
"Well that's just..." Rosalie said before laughing abruptly, "oh that's perfect!"
"I know you don't like her, but really?" Edward said unhappily.
"They want to eat Bella," Carlisle said in surprise, "did you see anything else? Nothing about Hermione or anyone else?"
"Hermione doesn't exactly inspire hunger," Rosalie said in a joking manner.
"It's her pheromones," Carlisle said answering the question that he knew was coming from Emmet, "people either smell musky or sweet and flowery. Depending on the vampires tastes they prefer one to the other weirder things have happened."
"But this," Edward said in a frustrated manner, waving his hands around, "we have to protect Bella!"
"And we will," Charlie said stand up, "Hermione is under my protection, I made a promise to an old friend I would let no harm come to her and that means Bella by extension. If anything happened to Bella, it would hurt Hermione."
"And if it's wasn't for Hermione already being under your care?" Edward asked angrily, "you would just let them take her?"
"Now that is not what I said," Carlisle said defusing the tension, "we would protect her whether Hermione was here or not."
Edward had heard enough, and decided that it was time to hunt, then he would go see Bella to be sure that she was indeed fine.
The next couple of days seemed to lag for Hermione, Bella seemed preoccupied with other things and didn't have time to spend time with her. It had been rainy as well, so she couldn't go to the reservation to spend time with Jake or go fishing with her uncle and Billy. She was finding herself bored, she decided to try and call Alice and Rosalie but neither of them was answering their phone and god only know what Bella was up to. She attempted to call Jake but all she got was the answering machine. She left a short message and hopped that he would call her back or stop over.
She sat in front of the TV and flipped through the channels before deciding on the history channel. In the end, she ended up taking a nap on the couch, the tv still one and a book collapsed on her chest still open, being bored was exhausting after all.
Later that evening, Charlie returned home from work, surprised to see Hermione asleep on the couch. He knew that she had been sad because of the weather, and that everyone seemed to be busy. Bella hadn't seemed to be home yet, and he was just about to ring her when Bella, Edward, Alice and Rosalie walked through the front door.
Just as Bella leaned down to wake Hermione up, Hermione opened her eyes and let out a shriek causing Bella to fall back wards onto the coffee table. Thankfully, Edward caught her before any real damage was done.
"Oh!" Hermione gasped in surprise, shooting straight up, "I'm so sorry, are you ok Bella?"
"Yes, geez Hermione you scared me," Bella said with a little laugh holding her chest.
"I heard to door open and when I went to open my eyes you were right there," Hermione said with a frown, "where have you been?"
"Has something happened?" Bella asked sitting down on the couch.
"No," Hermione said with a shake of her head, "have you checked your messages, I tried calling but everyone seemed to be busy."
Bella pressed her lips together and looked from Edward, to Alice then back to her cousin. The silence was deafening when suddenly there was a knock at the door. In a hurry to change the subject, Bella excused herself to answer the door. Hermione realizing that her cousin meant to change the subject excused herself to the kitchen where she decided what she needed was a strong cup of tea.
Bella was surprised to see Jacob at the door, "Hi Jake," Bella said, before moving out of the way making the motions for him to come into the house. When Jacob stepped into the house the tension was thick. Rosalie Cullen looked at him with a sour look, before turning and excusing herself into the kitchen to see Hermione. Alice Cullen smiled faintly at him, and Edward Cullen was there glaring at him. "Am I interrupting something?" he asked as he stepped further into the room.
"No, but I imagine that you have no reason to be here," Edward said under his breath as he moved to stand next to Bella.
"I came to see Hermione," Jacob said plainly, standing there by the door which Bella had yet to shut because she was distracted by the tension between her friend and her boyfriend.
"Hermione just went to the kitchen," Charlie said walking towards the group, "why don't you go and see her."
"Sure," Jacob said nodding his head in thanks, before removing himself from the room. He tried to shake the tension off, but it seems to stay attached. As he left the group behind and entered the kitchen, he was surprised to see Rosalie and Hermione laughing quietly at the table. Hermione was drinking something he wasn't sure, and Rosalie was making animated hand signals with her hands.
"Hermione," Jacob called to her as he came through the door.
"Hello, Jake," Hermione said clearly happy to see him, "it's good to see you."
"Dad, gave me your message," Jacob said rubbing the back of his head, "I was in the garage repairing a bike that Paul picked up the other day."
"Very well," Hermione said in a dour tone, "I suppose you are forgiven." The three of them laughed, "better late than never" she continued, "I can't expect you to keep me entertained all the time."
"No," Jacob said bumping her shoulder, "but you can always come over and hang out if your terribly bored, dad wouldn't have minded your company one bit."
"You spend time with his dad?" Rosalie asked smiling, they didn't know the tribe well, but she knew of Billy Black, he was a decent man considering everything.
"Well yes," she said happily, "we watch sports together and sometimes we go fishing with Uncle Charlie."
"That's very sweet of you Hermione," Rosalie said smiling at her, never mind the boy in the room they knew what was what, and while Hermione knew in her own way it was never mentioned that they were enemies, public or not.
After Hemione finished her tea, they walked out of the kitchen and into the living room. "So, what's new?" Hemione asked curiously.
"We're so sorry that we missed your messages today," Alice said pulling out her phone, "I was buried deep in my closet trying to sort clothes."
"No really, she was," Bella said laughing, "every time Esme or Rosalie tried to help you could hear her yelling "step away"."
"I wasn't that bad," Alice said shaking her head smiling, "I'm pretty sure that my phone got buried in the mess and I didn't hear it go off. "
"That's alright," Hermione said with a giggle, "I've been there, I understand."
The chit chat and silly remarks flowed easily for twenty minutes or so until Edward realized that Jacob was still in company and frowned. He looked at Hermione only to see her still looking at him confused. She had obviously been paying attention to reactions since she had emerged from the kitchen.
"So, what shall we do now I wonder?" Hermione asked curiously looking from face to face for a reaction.
"Well that's why we came," Rosalie said happily that she had finally asked, "would you like to come over for dinner?"
"Yes," Hermione said happily putting her arm through Rosalie's "I very much would."
"And spend the night as well?" Alice asked sweetly.
"Uncle Charlie, is it alright if I spend the night at my friend's house?" Hermione asked excitedly.
"Of course, you can!" her uncle said happily, "what about you Bella?"
"Well if the Cullen's don't mind," she turned to ask Alice and Rosalie in question.
"Oh yes, please do," Alice said with a big smile, she was sorry she hadn't thought of that before, that would solve the problem and Edward wouldn't have to sit out in the rain tonight.
"Well then," Charlie said happily, "Jacob tell Billy I will be over to watch the game and to get a could beers ready for me.
"Will do sir," Jacob said before turning away to address Hermione and Bella, "I will see you later."
"Bye Jacob," Hermione said smiling and leaning in for a hug, "thank you for stopping over to see me."
Jacob waved before turning to walk out the door, closing it gently behind him. He drove away with a smile on his face.
