Last time, the girls find out about the rogue vampires and their plans for Bella and they come up with a plan to protect Bella.

Sunrise Sunset Chapter 11

It had been three days since Hermione found out about the rogue vampires. Everyone was a little on nerve, but it had been three days, and still there was nothing. Bella kept voicing that maybe they left, and life could go back to normal. Hermione could be heard whispering to her not to get a false sense of security because unless Alice suddenly had a vision nothing had changed.

"You can go home," Bella said annoyed, "I'm going to Edwards."

"You missed the part where I'm supposed to stick to you like glue," Hermione said equally annoyed but mostly at Bella's carefree attitude.

"I'm getting tired of this," Bella said snapping at Hermione before jerking the truck door open and slamming it shut. As Hermione started towards the truck, Bella whipped out of her parking spot and racing out of the parking lot. "I really need to learn how to drive," Hermione said to herself before looking around the parking lot for someone she knew who might be willing to give her a lift.

"Need a ride?" a familiar voice sounded from behind her.

Hermione whipped around to see none other than Jacob standing there next to his truck grinning at her.

"Jacob!" Hermione said surprised before rushing over to him and giving him a hug.

"I'm happy to see you too," he said laughing, "so, what are you doing?"

"Oh, I was trying to see if I could find anyone to bring me home," Hermione said pulling away from Jacob to give him some space.

"Where's Bella?" Jacob asked looking around with a dumbfounded look on his face.

"She left without me," Hermione said in a bitter tone. Why today? Bella knew that they were supposed to go home directly after school today to meet up with Carlisle and Edward. Carlisle was going to essentially do a home doctors visit with Hermione. She wanted to talk to him about that feeling she had the other day. Now she would not get the chance because he was probably not going to be happy and want to complete the visit because Bella went AWOL.

"I see," Jacob said bringing her back from her inner rant. "let's go, I'll give you a lift."

"Thank you, Jacob," she said sincerely, before saying suddenly, "lets race!" she started running around the side of the truck and opened the door in the hopes of beating Jacob. They bucked their seatbelts at the same moment, when he yelled, "I win!" and she yelled, "It was a tie!"

They bantered back in this manner the entire way back to the house. When they arrived, there were a barrage of cars and nowhere to park. It seemed that all the Cullen's were driving individually. They parked a block up the street because there was no parking. "let me carry this for you," Jacob said lifting her bag out of her hand, before taking her hand and helping her out of the car.

"You don't have to walk me," she said reaching for her bag, she did not know what was going on down the street, but she couldn't bring Jacob into it.

"I insist," he said in his normal happy tone and watched open mouthed as he swung the bag over his shoulder. She laughed, "what?" he asked.

"You look good in pink," she said with a laugh. "Ya think so?" he bantered back, "you don't think it makes me look girly?" Before she had the chance to answer she started laughing loudly, "very girly," she replied looking up at him. Then suddenly he was saving her from tripping over a tree root sticking up out of the sidewalk because she was too busy thinking about it.

"You ok there Hermione?" Jacob asked as he held her against him as he steadied her and made sure she was ok.

"Yes," she said clearing her throat and taking a small step back and pulling herself from his arms. They walked in tentative silence.

When they reached her house, they were greeted by none other than Alice, Edward, Jasper, Emmet and Rosalie. "What are you doing here?" Edward asked in what Hermione thought was a growl.

"What's it too you?" Jacob asked wrapping an arm around Hermione's shoulder. Hermione watched as Jacob tried to puff himself up to make himself look bigger. And it worked she could feel his energy ignite and she suddenly felt shocked where their skin was touching.

"Hermione," Alice said in her normal sweet voice, "Why don't we let the boys talk while we girls go inside."

It was the weirdest thing she had yet to experience, and yet it did not seem so odd. Hermione had listened to the Quileute stories several times, mostly from Jacob retelling the stories. She had just never dug deeper into why he might be telling her and Bella these tales. Sure, he was trying to warn them about the cold ones, which obviously meant Vampires which obviously meant in part the Cullen's.

"Um," she fumbled out. She looked from the Cullen's and back to Jacob, "if you don't mind, I'm going to go inside now."

"Sure," Jacob said taking his attention off Edward and walking her the rest of the way to the house, cutting off Alice and Rosalie.

"Thank you," she said with a smile, giving him a hug and turning to run into the house. She took a seat at the couch to wait for Alice and Rosalie to come into the house. She hoped that they had some answers for her.

"Where is Bella?" Alice asked the moment they were out of hearing distance of the boys outside no doubt having a competition to see who the biggest dick in the whole county could be.

"She got mad at me and said that she was going to see Edward and when I reminded her we needed to stay together, she left me standing in the parking lot at school," Hermione said in an aggravated tone, "luckily Jacob was there to give me a lift."

"Yes, lucky indeed," Rosalie said with a huge smile, she was going to make a joke when the front door banged open and in came 3 angry vampires, a Doctor, a police officer and Jacob.

"Where is Bella?" Charlie asked confused looking around.

"She said she was going to the Cullen's to see Edward," Hermione said for what must have been the third time that day.

"Why didn't you go with her?" Charlie asked confused.

"Well I wanted to, but she drove off before I could get in the car," Hermione said giving the short version starting to get a little bit angry now.

"Hermione," Carlisle said tentatively, "let us go into the kitchen dear so we can talk about your pretty little head."

"I have a small head?" she asked in a mock angry tone.

"Well no, but it's not huge either," Carlisle said with a laugh as Hermione led him into the kitchen.

"Hey Carlisle," Hermione said as she took a seat at the table in the dining room off of the kitchen, "Do feelings have memories?"

"what do you mean?" Carlisle asked as he did his normal checking of her pulse and looking into her eyes and now, he was feeling her cranium of any lumping or bruising.

"Well, the other day when we were discussing the solution to that problem, I had the feeling that I'd done that before," Hermione said trying not to move her head. Carlisle was pressing gently on the glands on the back of her head near the spine.

"It's good that you have the feeling like you may have done something to cause familiar feelings, but I wouldn't read anything into just yet," Carlisle said with a sound of warning.

"Why not?" she was confused no, here she thought this was a good thing.

"Relish in the familiarity of it but don't get your hopes up that it may spark a memory, best to put it from your head for now," he said finishing up with the exam, "you have your best thoughts when you aren't trying to think of them. If you're constantly trying to remember what you forgot you may not ever find it."

"That's very philosophical," Hermione said happily, "then I will try not to think of it too much but I don't want to forget it so I wrote it down for later in my dream journal."

"Smart thinking," Carlisle said patting her on the top of her head before handing her a bag with three tins of cookies. Hermione beamed up at him, holding up a finger, before plopping the tins down on the table and handing him a small bag with the tines from last time in them. "and you want me to take these back to Esme to use again?"

"I know she probably has millions saved up, but it seems a bit wasteful to throw them away," Hermione said with a wide smile, "plus she'll just refill them and send them over next time."

Carlisle laughed, this girl, she was something else. "I will use those exact words," he said gathering his things, "anything for you, you know we see you as one of our own too."

"I know," she beamed up at him, "I don't think I have felt quite at home in a long time."

He almost wanted to ask her what it was she remembered, but then she had not remembered anything yet. But the feelings of familiarity she was having was a prelude to something he was sure.

Hermione guided Carlisle out of the kitchen back through the living room to the front door. It seemed that everyone had calmed down and were sitting around the tv watching reruns on the sports channel. Hermione waved Carlisle off before turning around to see several pairs of eyes staring at her, including Bella's.

She looked up to see Jacob standing up and walking over from the couch, "So, do you want to learn how to drive?"

"I think it's for the best," Hermione said looking over at Bella, who sat between Edward and Alice looking a little squished and sheepish.

"Hermione I'm sorry I didn't wait for you after school," Bella replied trying to sound sorry.

"It's alright," Hermione said waving it off, "we won't always be able to be together, besides, I have to learn sometime right?"

"I guess," Bella said sitting back on the couch trying to be invisible again.

After a moment of silence, Jacob spoke up, "I have to get going," he said moving towards the door, "I'll call you Hermione, and we can talk about you learning to drive."

Hermione saw him to the door, "I look forward to seeing you soon," she said with a smile that brightened the room. She shut the door behind him and then turned around to see everyone in the room staring at her. She blushed red and smiled awkwardly moving back into the living room.

At this cue, Bella stood and motioned from them to come into the kitchen leaving Emmet and Charlie watching sports center on the television. "Emm, are you coming?" Jasper asked tentatively.

"Yeah in a minute," Emmet said waving them off, he wanted to see the play back from yesterdays game.

"So," Hermione said looking at them expectantly, "you wanna explain what happened earlier?"

"We were just worried about you," Alice said placing her hand on her shoulder, "you should stay away from that boy."

Hermione laughed a hollow laugh, "I meant the other thing?"

"That's my fault," Bella said, "I just needed to get away for a while, and I wanted to see Edward."

"you knew that I had an apt to see Dr. Cullen this afternoon, you could have just called him when we got home to see where he was." Hermione said, you could hear the annoyance in her voice.

"I'm sorry," Bella said, "it's just, I wanted to spend time with Edward without you around."

"I understand," Hermione said deciding that the conversation was over, "so what now, you're all here so there must have been something that you wanted to talk about?"

"There isn't anything really," Rosalie said coming to the rescue, "we were bored and when we heard that you had the appointment with Carlisle we thought we would see if you wanted to do something after but Bella wasn't with you when that Kid brought you home."

"I see," Hermione said smiling, "that kid is my friend, so please play nice."

"Jacob is good people," Bella said chiming in, "besides, we've known him most of our life."

"SOOO, what's up?" Emmet asked coming into the kitchen, the program on the tv was over but Charlie promised that there was another game about to come on and so he sent Emmet to the kitchen for some snacks. Emmet did not have the heart to tell Charlie that he did not eat food.

"Nothing really," Hermione said with a large smile, "are you and Uncle Charlie having fun watching American football?"

"Why do you put emphasis on the American part?" He asked sarcastically already knowing the answer, "we live in America, so it's just football.

"Oh, well, excuse me and my bad adaptation manners," Hermione said with a laugh, "I'll try harder to think like an American like you Emmet."

"See that you do," Emmet said in a stately manner pointing a finger at her mockingly.

"Yes, your majesty," she retorted with a snort before coving her mouth and laughing.

"You may live," he said patting her on the head, "now show me to these snacks that Chief Swan speaks of."

"You do realize that you don't eat human snacks?" Hermione said raising her eyebrows at him as she reached up into the cabinet and handed Emmet a large bad of tortilla chips and the salsa from the fridge. She prepared everything on a tray before handing it to Emmet. "there you are your majesty, please do remember us poor plebeians next time you are in town."

"Thank you, princess," Emmet said with a wink at Hermione before turning to Rosalie and blowing her a kiss. She laughed and shooed him from the room.

"He's like a puppy Rosalie," Hermione said laughing.

"You wanna adopt him?" Rosalie asked with a serious face before bursting out in laughter.

"Sure," Hermione said in the most serious tone she could muster, "is he house trained? Can I rename him?"

The conversation continued in this way between Hermione and Rosalie. Bella then announced that she was going to her room, Edward and Alice followed and Jasper joined them. Emmet and Rosalie were happily occupied where they were.

The night ended in the same manner that it started, Bella was sequestered somewhere with Edward, and Hermione was happily chatting with Rosalie, before they went into the living room to watch sports with the boys. After everyone left to go home, Hermione and Charlie continued to watch the game and Bella stayed up in her room.

Hermione had fallen asleep on the couch, so Charlie cleaned up and tried to gently wake Hermione up to usher her up to her room. She woke up bleary eyed, wished her uncle a good night, climbed the stairs and crashed down onto her bed and promptly fell asleep.

A/N: Ok so I know I promised a confrontation with Hermione and a rogue vampire, it is going to be in the next chapter I promise. As a side note I don't know what type of vehicle Jake drives in the books, but in this fic he drives a blue pickup truck. Please read and review. Obviously if you recognize it, I do not own it.
