Sunrise Sunset

~Last time, a plan of escape is made, Rosalie and Esme stay home with Hermione. Edward and Alice took Bella away, and the rest of the Cullen's sans Esme and Rosalie follow.

Chapter 14

She was sleeping, not well it seemed but she was sleeping. Her eyes fluttered and rolled in her sleep, she could be heard muttering, but they did not understand what she was saying. Then her head started rolling from side to side, Rosalie went to touch her arm to try and wake her, when suddenly she sat up, "NO!" she yelled, as her eyes flew open.

"Are you alright dear?" Esme asked moving to the bed.

Hermione looked around, "It's not real is it," she asked, her tears seemed to be drying now.

"What did you dream about?" Esme asked with kind encouragement.

"I dreamt I was alone," Hermione said rubbing her eyes, "I couldn't save Bella. If she doesn't come back it will be all my fault."

"Now that's not true," Esme said kindly, "it would be the vampire's fault, not yours. And it would be our fault more than yours, vampires living among humans. Silly creatures they are trying to hide."

"Oh, do stop," Hermione said with a giggle, "I see you more as brave, more than I could ever see you as stupid."

"Don't worry," Rosalie said waving her hand around, "Alice just texted to say that everyone is fine, so far so good, and she said to tell you that you don't ever have to worry about ending up alone, it'll never happen you have too many people who love you."

"Thank you," Hermione said looking around, "what time is it?"

"Just about 4 in the afternoon," Rosalie said opening the blinds, you could see that the sun was already lowering in the sky, in another couple of hours it will be dark and then they would probably hear something from Edward or Alice.

Hermione got up and took a shower, before going downstairs, the only thing there was to do was sit and wait. Esme made her a light dinner, and they tried to distract themselves by watching the home shopping network on the television.

Meanwhile, in a little town about an hour from the border of Arizona and Oregon, there was a nice town that had a little inn, that currently housed two vampires and a girl named Bella.

"You're sure they're staying here?" James asked impatiently.

"Well I didn't see the girl that you're talking about, but I remember the other two," the manager of the Inn said.

"What room are they in?" James asked trying to make his faceless angry, he did not need this guy getting any ideas.

"They're in room 304," the man said, picking up one of the cards, "just dial the number and put in 304 when it asks for what room you're trying to reach."

"Thank you, sir," Victoria said in a kindly manner, "you didn't have to go through all the trouble, calling them will be just fine. Now that we finally caught up to them, we can finish the trip together instead of just meeting them."

"Oh yes that's a fine idea," the manager said trying to get them to leave, "I'm sorry, I have to take this," he said picking up the phone.

"We simply must be going," Victoria said gleefully, "tata!"

"What's the plan?" James asked as they made for the tree line. Now that they knew where they were staying, they could keep an eye out for them.

"Well, we know from breaking into the school where Bella's mother lives," Victoria said with a smirk.

"That's right, well we can just call her number and listen to her voice mail," James said with a grin, "Then you can mimic her voice and lure her out!"

Bella was sitting on the bed flipping through the channels when the hotel phone suddenly rang. She stood up and stared at the phone. She contemplated if she should pick it up or not when Alice came zooming over and picked it up and put it on speaker.

"Bella is that you?" the voice on the line asked, "Bella can you hear me?" the voice was starting to sound frantic now. "Bella!" the voice screamed.

Bella did not answer until Alice gave her the go-ahead, "Yes it's me," she said, "do you need something?"

"Oh, thank god I found you," the voice was starting to sound more and more like her mother by the second, "You have to help me, they said they would hurt me."

"Mom?" Bella asked and when there was no answer, she yelled it, "MOM, MOM!"

And then suddenly there was another voice on the line, "If you want to see your mother again, come to the place you grew to love the most and come alone unless you want your friends to die as well." And then there was a click.

"It's probably a trap," Alice said putting a hand on the girl's shoulder, "I wouldn't be too worried."

"I… I… I can't take that chance," Bella said stuttering over her words, she was feeling frightened and pissed at the same time, "we have to go."

"You are probably walking into a trap," Edward said trying to remain calm, "let's call your mother and see if she answers."

"OK," Bella said reluctantly, but she held out her hand for his phone anyway, "let me borrow your cell, she will worry if I call from a number she doesn't recognize." She dialed the number and it went directly to voice mail, "shit," she said under her breath. "Hey mom, it's me, Bella, I just wanted to check-in and see how you were. You can reach me back at this number, I borrowed a friend's phone. Love you, bye."

"We have to go," Bella said determined, "I don't care if it's a trap or not."

"Ok," Edward said with a sigh, "let us call Carlisle and tell him what's going on first."

But in Bella's eyes that was going to take too long, so when Edward and Alice turned their back for a moment, Bella slipped into the bathroom and then out through the window. She made a beeline for the parking lot. However, she did not make it far when she was grabbed from behind and pulled into the shadows.

"You really should learn no to run heedlessly into trouble," a voice said with a nasty snarl, "it's time for a new game I think."

"And what game would that my dear?" a more feminine voice asked.

"Why we take her to the original place and see if anyone of her vampire friends come to save her," the male voice said viciously, "and if they don't come in the allotted time we'll eat her."

Bella tried to get free, but she was quickly muted and knocked out. "Let's go then," Victoria said with a violent smile.

...

"Damnit Bella," Edward yelled once they realized that she was no longer in the bathroom. As he made to run outside to pick up her scent, the phone in the hotel rang a second time. Alice picked the phone up off the receiver, "you have 3 hours to come and rescue your pet," the voice said, "tick-tock," and then there was a click. "Well fuck," Edward said as he quickly sent a text to Carlisle, "come quick, the game is afoot."

Carlisle, Jasper, and Emmet were at the door the moment after they got the text from Edward. Then Alice had a vision, Carlisle put a pencil in her hand. The pencil flew across the paper after the vision faded, she looked at the pictures, "it looks like a Ballet Studio." Then flipping to another picture, they saw the name of the studio, "This must have been the place they originally wanted to me them at."

"I will see if I can find an address on this place," Jasper said quickly pulling out his phone and putting the name into the phone.

"We can come back for the cars," Alice said tucking the key to the hotel room into the pocket of her jeans. "let's run, it won't take us as long as driving." And so, they ran, it took nearly 2 hours to reach the ballet studio, they were given three hours to they still had time.

Carlisle gave a silent sign to check the perimeters before entering the building. They had no idea where the other vampires had entered, they could be anywhere. It was not long until Alice found the hole, they made in the glass to enter the building. She sent Edward a mental picture and then they entered the building.

Under the cover of darkness, the place looked cold and abandoned, "I see you made it," James said gleefully, "time to play, the winner gets to keep the girl."

There was no time to answer, James and Victoria came at them hard and fast. Carlisle, Jasper, and Emmet formed a circle with their backs allowing Bella to be encircled between them. Alice and Edward faced off with the two rogues first.

Bella had never been so scared, and it was not long until she was left with just Emmet to keep her safe. And then she found herself sailing across the room, and before she knew it her head was bouncing off the glass wall. Luckily, it was reinforced glass and it only splintered and cracked. She felt her head and felt something sticky on the back of it. She tried her hardest to stay still; but before she knew it, she was being yanked by her arm. She felt like a rag doll, everything was a blur, her leg hurt now.

She reached for her leg to find herself being yanked up by her arm. She tried to open her eyes, but they did not want to open, she was suddenly feeling very tired. She could hear Edward yelling at her to keep her eyes closed.

The next time she opened her eyes when she felt a blinding pain in her forearm. She tried to yank her arm away from the male vampire, but she was well and truly stuck. She was feeling weaker now, and suddenly the male vampire was being yanked away from her and she watched at the red-headed vampire screamed in fury.

Edward had never been so aware of how fragile human life was then at this moment. He and Alice had done fine taking on James and Victoria but then everything changed and suddenly Alice was sailing across the room and it was him against both vampires. The damn pair nearly ripped his arm off, and now he was angry.

Carlisle and Jasper took on Victoria while Alice went head to head with James. As Edward went to rejoin the fray, he heard Emmet yell, "stay behind me," and before anyone knew it Bella had been free thrown across the room. Now he had not meant to hurt her, but there was no other option when James came barreling at him.

Edward could see that she was hurt he was not able to get to her as Victoria ran at him full speed tackling him through the glass into a different room connected to the main room. Victoria had mostly everyone's attention now, she had large shards of glass in her hand that she was using as knives. This left James the chance to grab Bella. He grabbed her arm and jumped up into the rafters. Edward watched as Bella's eyes started to flutter open, and he begged her to keep her eyes shut before he too jumped into the rafters.

Looking down he saw that Emmet had a good hold on Victoria, between him and Alice there was no way for her to free herself. Edward and James were at a standoff, instead of waiting for James to make a move Edward lunged at James and Bella, his goal was to grab a hold of Bella so that when they fell she did get hurt any more than she already was. Unfortunately, that is not what happened, when he lunged for James, James let go of Bella and she plummeted towards the floor.

Alice caught Bella just in time, a second longer, and she would have hit the floor. Alice laid Bella down gently before looking at her wounds. When she caught sight of Edward and James plummeting to the floor, she made herself ready to jump on the male vampire; however, she was too slow, James was up and plowing over and through her. Edward found himself knocked back twenty feet as James threw him off, he saw Alice not fair much better. They barely made it to Bella in time to pull James off her arm. Blood ran from his lips, "mm yum," James laughed. Though victory seemed to be his, it was short-lived, while he was distracted, Carlisle and Jasper removed his head from his body.

At this point Victoria could be heard screaming, she managed to get free but not before promising their death upon them before fleeing. Edward could be seen kneeling next to Bella, her wrist cradled in his hands. "you must suck the poison out," Carlisle said gently, hand on his shoulder, "if you can save her, she doesn't have to turn."

"Let me turn," Bella said her voice seemed to be slowly fading, "then we can always be together."

"Not like this," Edward said with a sad smile. He took her wrist into his mouth and sucked the venom from her veins. Once Carlisle was sure that she was on the safe side, they carefully checked her injuries and went back to the hotel. Edward held her the whole way, refusing to relinquish her to anyone else.

Once they got back to the hotel, Carlisle was able to assess Bella's injuries, she had a concussion, a dislocated shoulder, and a broken leg. Once Carlisle fixed up, he called Esme to let her know that Bella was safe.

"I'm glad your home," Hermione said to Bella when Carlisle and the rest of the family made it home late Sunday evening, "what are we going to tell Uncle Charlie?"

"I will talk to your uncle," Carlisle said, "we will explain what happened, perhaps a rogue shoelace and a couple of flights of marble stairs will make the story more believable."

Bella chuckled, "it would be believable," she said looking at Hermione who was trying to hold her smile back at the joke.

For the time being everything was as it should be, Bella was home and safe, she and Hermione returned to her father's house without so much as a concern except for what seemed to be Bella's excessive clumsiness. And that was it, the whole situation was done and gone, April had ended on a low note, but it put May in a much better light.

It was Bella's and Hermione's relationship seemed to take a bigger backseat than what was wanted by Hermione. Bella and Edward's bond grew bigger and bolder almost knocking anyone else in the room with them into another universe. This of course caused, Hermione and Charlie to spend more time doing things as Bella was always off with Edward.

One evening in the middle of May, Hermione was alone sitting in the back yard enjoying a good book and a glass of iced tea. She heard Charlie pull up to the house, and so she started packing up her things when she saw from the corner of her eye that she did not expect to see. A Grim…

She turned her head to make sure it was what she was seeing, but it was just a shadow maybe. She walked towards the woods, hoping to see what it was she was looking for, but there was nothing. She turned and stood for what must have felt like ages only to see nothing there. She headed back to the house where her uncle Charlie was waiting for her; but as she was walking, she saw it again. She turned to try and catch the sight of the animal she turned to swiftly, lost her balance, and fell headfirst into a tree where she barely missed whacking her head.

She lifted her head to see the large black dog staring back at her. "what's your name," She asked out of nowhere, however, it just turned and ran deeper into the forest. She stood slowly to keep her balance, but instead of going after it she turned and walked back to the house. She turned and looked again but she did not see any sign of the dog. I must be losing what little I have left of my sensibilities, she thought to herself as she continued to the house.

"I'll probably never see him again," she said to herself pulling her book and glass up from where she was sitting, "best to put it from your mind," and she did; but how long would it last?

N/A: I am sorry I am terrible with action scenes; I apologize if it was terrible, please do not hate me.

So, we made it through the first part of the story, I tried to make it longer, but I did not want to give you too much info on the next part of the story.

I will update again on Monday; I finished the next chapter early so instead of waiting I thought I would help end your agony of having to wait four more days for a chapter.

I want to thank you all for reading and please feel free to leave me a review, I take constructive criticism fairly well. Until the next chapter!

P.S. A reader was very nice to point out a part where I got the wording all weird. All fixed! Thanks for reading and reviewing!
