Chapter 2
Stella Kidd could not believe what she just did on that plane. She has had tons of encounters with men, but this one just seemed different. She couldn't get her mind off him; he had the most amazing blue eyes she had ever seen. She was so hot when she got off the plane that she had to run to the restroom to cool herself down before she went to find her friend. A part of her hoped he would run after her so they could finish what they started. She knew she wasn't going to see him again, and that pretty much disappointed her. She splashed water on her face, trying to get rid of the redness in her face. She walked out of the restroom and glanced around, hoping to see the blue-eyed guy. She walked around looking for him. She was knocked out of her thoughts by her name being called.
"Stella!" Dawson yelled as she saw her curly-headed best friend.
She smiled as she saw her friend. "Gabby!" she yelled.
Casey watched as the two ran to each other, hugging. "I missed you," Stella said, as she hugged her old friend tighter.
"Same girl, Chicago is not the same without you," Dawson said as she pulled back. "I can't believe you are here," she said as she hugged her again.
"You must be Matt," Stella said, noticing the man standing behind Gabby and smiling at them.
Dawson shifted her gaze back to her husband. "Oh, yes, this is Matt Casey, my husband, and captain of firehouse 51 too."
"Nice, to finally meet you; I've heard a lot about you," Casey said as he extended his hand out to her.
"I'm more of a hugger," Stella said, as she surprised Casey by pulling him into a hug. "You've got great taste, Gabby; he's pretty cute," she said, as she pulled back to check him out.
"Yes, he is, and he's all mine," Dawson told her with a teasing smile. As she wrapped her arms around his waist. "But Chicago has some really fine guys that you can hook your claws into."
Stella smiled and blushed. "Yeah, I met one on the plane," she said, as her mind went back to the blue-eyed guy.
"Damn you, you move fast," Dawson joked. "Did you join the mile-high club?"
"I never considered it, till today. This man I met would definitely be worth joining that club. " She paused, as she had to fan herself down. "Girl, I wish you could have seen him. He had the sexiest smile, and his blue eyes were like the ocean; I got so lost in them, and his voice was like melting honey," she told them, as she took a deep breath.
"What happened on this flight?" Dawson asked, seeing the redness on her friend's face.
Stella blushed again. "I can't describe it; it was like I was a magnet and he was steel. I couldn't keep my hands off him or my lips off him," she laughed. "I've never had an attraction like that. I never experienced anything like that either."
Casey thought for a moment and looked at his wife. "So... you made out with a stranger on the flight?" he asked, his mind had already put two and two together.
"Don't judge me, but it's not the first time I've made out with a stranger." She sighed, "It's the first time I did it on a plane," she laughed. " I just couldn't help myself. those piercing eyes, and that smile, his smile was like a sudden beam of sunlight illuminating the darkest corners of my life. Too bad I'm never going to see him again."
"Never say never," Casey whispered in a low tone, Dawson looks at him, giving him a confused look. Dawson's eyes widened as the realization hit her. What her husband's comment meant.
Stella gave the couple a strange look, "I need to call my friend; I promised her I would let her know when I landed in Chicago so she knows I'm okay," Stella said as she pulled out her phone.
"Okay," Dawson said, as soon as Stella was out of sight. " No No, No. This cannot be happening. Damn Severide "
Casey starts laughing. "This is definitely going to be an interesting week," he said, as Dawson narrowed her eyes at him. "There is no way we can keep Severide away from her. "
"We don't know if she's talking about Severide. She could have made out with some other guy on that plane."
"Babe, I can guarantee it was Severide." Casey couldn't contain himself. "I do think he met his match, though."
Dawson sighed loudly. "I don't want her to become another mark on his bedpost. They sleep together; she is never going to want to move back."
Casey pulled her into a hug. "I am sorry," he said as he kissed the top of her head.
"Okay, I'm ready," Stella said. as she walked back over to the couple. "You two are so cute together," she said, smiling at them.
Dawson pulled away from Casey. "We do make a cute couple," she said, pecking his lips. "So, let's get you settled at our house. I want to take you to Molly's tonight to meet everyone."
"Well, you can meet Severide when we get to the house," Casey said with a smile. Dawson glared at him.
"Who is Severide?" Stella questioned them as they walked out of the airport.
"He's my best friend; he lives with us. He's also a firefighter." Casey told her as they walked through the parking lot.
Stella smiled. "Is he a hot firefighter?" she asked, wiggling her eyebrow
"You can say he's kind of cute," Dawson said as Casey shook his head.
"Hmm, kind of cute works for me." She said, with a smirk
"Too bad he's gay though, " Dawson said as she opened her car door.
Stella's smile dropped. " Seriously? Damn, that sucks."
Casey rubbed his forehead. "He's not gay," he said, looking at his irritated wife. "She's joking."
"Oh, well that's not nice Gabby," Stella said as she got into the car. "I can't wait to meet this Severide guy."
Casey smiled as he started the car. Yep, this is definitely going to be an interesting week. He thought to himself.
As they walked into the house, "This is a beautiful place, you two." Stella said as she looked around.
"Thank you," Dawson said, as she took her jacket off. "Let me show you to the guest room. So, you can get settled in," she told her, as they started to go up the stairs.
"I will get you, ladies, a glass of wine and meet you in the kitchen," Casey told them, still smiling, he was wondering where Severide was. He couldn't wait to see his reaction.
"Thanks, babe."
Casey walked into the kitchen and grabbed two wine glasses. He went to the wine cooler and took out a bottle of wine.
"So where is this so-called childhood friend that's off limits to me?" Kelly asked as he walked into the kitchen.
"Gabby took her upstairs to show her the guest room," Casey said, as he opened the wine.
Kelly nodded. "Man, something is wrong with me," he told him as he leaned up against the counter. " I'm losing it, man."
Casey arched his eyebrow. "What do you mean?"
"I can't shake this girl off, the one from the plane," he told him as he grabbed a beer out of the fridge. "I can't stop thinking about her, and I don't even know her name."
Casey smiled. "It's not the first time you've made out with a girl and didn't know her name or forgot it."
Kelly shrugged. "True, it never really bothered me. But this girl..." he trailed off. "I need to know her name; I want to know more about her, I just don't understand how can she have such an effect on me within two hours. Is that even possible?"
" I think anything is possible, honestly," Casey tells him, as he pours the wine into the glasses. " Maybe, you were bitten by the love bug." he joked.
Kelly nods, " Maybe." he said, as he thought about it. " Could be why I feel a little out of it."
"Wow! This is definitely something new coming from you," Casey said. Not expecting him to agree with him, Severide always told him he would never fall in love, single life was the best life.
Kelly took a sip of his beer. "Man, you should have seen her; she was freaking beautiful," he told him as he took a deep breath. "And her eyes were as delicate and sweet as swirling chocolate with a dash of caramel. When my gaze met hers, I fell so deeply inside those eyes, the warmth from her smile can melt ice. And her voice, man her voice was like the harmony of angels."
Casey's eyes widen as he listens to his friend talk about Stella. He's never talked about a girl like this before.
Neither one of the guys knew Dawson was in the doorway of the kitchen listening to their conversation. "This girl did a number on you, Severide, huh?" she asked as she walked over to them.
"She did something to me," Kelly said, as he sat down on the barstool.
Casey handed Dawson a glass of wine, giving her a knowing look. "Where's Stella?" he asked.
"She wanted to take a shower; she'll be down soon," Dawson replied, staring a hole through Kelly. She watched as he zoned off in deep thought.
"So, what did you want to do for dinner?" Casey asked his wife. Trying to get her to stop giving Kelly death glares
"We can order out?" she said, finally taking her eyes off Kelly. "Or go out somewhere before hitting up Molly's."
Casey nods. "This is definitely going to be an interesting week," he said, repeating his words from earlier.
Dawson rolls her eyes. "You can say that again," she said as she downed her glass of wine.
"Why is it going to be interesting?" Kelly asked, finally coming back to reality. Dawson and Casey shared a look. "What did I miss?"
"Nothing," Casey said, as he poured his wife another glass of wine.
Kelly eyed them for a second. "What are you guys not telling me?"
They both shrugged. "Nothing," Dawson said, as she smiled at him.
Kelly arched his eyebrow at them. Casey was smiling, and Dawson was laughing. He was about to question them again. But he noticed their glaze was looking at something behind him. Kelly turned his head to see what they were looking at. His eyes widened in surprise. His heart started beating fast. "It's you," he said in a whisper. The girl from the plane was standing in the kitchen; her hair was damp, and she changed clothes, but that was for sure the same girl.
Casey and Dawson watched the two's interactions.
"Oh, my God," Stella said, as their eyes connected. She couldn't believe what she was seeing—the guy from the plane was in her best friend's house. sitting just a couple of feet away from her. Her heart was racing, and her palms were sweating. Awkwardness filled the room as they both just stared at each other. Neither one moved.
Dawson shook her head. "Kelly Severide, meet Stella Kidd, my best friend from childhood," she said, as she watched them closely.
"Yeah, this is going to be an interesting week," Casey said again, smiling at the two. Dawson downed her second glass of wine... "We are going to go into another room, so you two can talk," he said, as he grabbed his wife's hand. "Or just continued to stare at each other," he laughed, as Dawson moaned in annoyingness Casey stops beside Stella. "You did a real number on him," he tells her. Before walking out of the room and pulling Dawson along with him.
As the two walk into the living room, " You are enjoying this? aren't you" Dawson asked, her husband who was still smiling.
" Babe, I have been waiting on this day"
Dawson arched her eyebrow at him " What day?' she asked curiously.
" The day Kelly Severide was bitten by the love bug." He tells her, as he pulls her close to him.
"Matt, it's not love, it's lust they are both lusting for each other. That's it." She told him, as she laid her head on his shoulder.
Casey smiled, " I can't speak for Stella, but it's definitely more the lust for Severide, you'll see babe. " he told her, as he thought about everything Kelly said to him. " Severide is on a whole new playing field now."
