Chapter 26 - Longest day part two
Bella signed for the 100th time since being forced to go shopping with Hermione and Alice. Looking out the passenger side window in the back seat, she listened to Hermione and Alice and their conversation in the front, thus allowing Bella to get lost in her own thoughts. She listened to what Alice and Hermione were saying but they were just talking about their shopping plans. every shopping trip, they made a plan of action on the trip there.
Edward, her mind flowed towards him from the moment she saw him in the cafeteria. She leaned her head into the window, the trees moved quickly but not as quickly as she would have liked. But then she had gotten herself into this situation. She laughed at her own joke in her head, keeping her stony-faced appearance. She closed her eyes, Edward, he had drawn her in like a moth to a flame. She could see his silhouette in her mind, he was lean and strong, a chiseled marble ice statue. A statue she wouldn't mind… she mentally shook her head. No, let's not go there, she gently chastised herself, now is not the time.
Marriage was never a topic Bella thought would have her name attached to it. Her mother was more of a friend than a parent, and now that she was newly married, she didn't need a teenager around to ruin it for her. Of course, if she hadn't come to live with her dad, would she have even met Edward? She would have missed out on seeing Hermione as well. She never would have become so attached to real life human beings, she escaped into Paradise Lost as often as she could.
Bella remained lost in thought until she was jerked from her thoughts by Alice whipping into a parking spot and coming to an abrupt halt. "Geez," Bella said under her voice, this caused Alice to laugh and tsk at her for not paying attention to her surroundings. Bella grumbling got out of the car and walked quietly along Alice and Hermione. They stopped for coffee at the coffee counter and got a signature brew. Bella refused coffee and tea and instead ordered a milkshake from the milkshake counter on the other side of the food court lobby. Alice and Hermione followed behind Bella as she went in search of her sweet snack.
They wandered down through the shopping mall and passed the accessory stores to the far side of the mall, where the more expensive clothing stores that Cullen's liked to frequent. Once they walked through the front door, they split in three directions. Hermione went left, Alice went right, and Bella just stood in the middle wondering what she was supposed to be doing. She turned around and saw the make-up counter and went to have a look.
She looked at the foundation and the bronzer and wondered how to even apply it. Looking into the mirror she silently wondered what she would look like when she became a vampire. Would she be beautiful too? Bella allowed herself to daydream about becoming a vampire and being able to run fast enough to run next to him. To keep up the pace with her husband and run through the forest.
She was interrupted by Alice coming over to stand next to her. "Come try some things on," Alice said, happily pulling Bella behind her. Bella laughed and decided to just go along with it.
Alice gently shoved Bella into the fitting room, giving her several shirts in purple and green. "Pick two," Alice said encouragingly, "they are all a similar style, if you find one you like more you can pick other colors."
"I like these colors," Bella said with a smile, turning around and closing the door to the fitting room.
Hermione and Alice looked at each other speechless, silently wondering why Bella wasn't protesting more and being sarcastic. It was unusual and most of all it was weird.
"Well, it me know which you like better," Alice said happily, she didn't want to let her concern show.
To Alice's surprise, Bella showed her both the styles of shirts and it was agreed that Bella needed a small size in both. Hermione handed Bella the next set and then set out to find the smaller sizes in the shirts Bella had handed her and look for similar styles.
The three of them went on in this fashion for several hours. They visited three more stores before stopping for lunch in the food court. Bell introduced Hermione to boba teas for dessert before heading off to the dress store to search for a prom dress. Between them, they had 57 bags, Alice laughed as they walked to the car. "Bella, I can't believe you shopped so easily today," she said, pressing the button for the trunk to open.
"I figured why not," Bella said, settling her bags in the trunk and stepping aside to allow Hermione to put hers in the trunk next to Bella's. They moved to settle into the car as Alice put her bags in the trunk before joining them. As Alice started the car, the clock clicked on, and the clock read 3:00pm.
The ride home was quick, Bella dozed in the back seat, her head lulled to the side, her mouth open, breathing heavily.
…
With Jacob and the wolf pack
Shortly after Sam entered the black residence that morning, the day had been going terrible. They had gotten a call that morning that a giant wolf had attacked a hiker, or what had seemed like a giant wolf. Paramedics were called and the report appeared to be of some type a large animal. As there had been no known wolves of giant size. There had hardly been any sightings of regular wolves before either. There had certainly been bear sightings, though, with an equal amount of mauling's to go with them.
At about 10am, Chief Swan was directed to the scene of the crime, the incident was deemed a bear mauling and filed as an accident. However, Charlie wasn't convinced, that was the third 'accident' in the last 2 months out on the hiking trails, this one just happened to be on Quileute territory.
The wolves knew the truth, it was vampires, they were hunting and making it look like an animal killed. Paul cursed them under his breath, he really wanted to hunt them down and kill them, but whenever they went after them, they couldn't catch them.
Jacob, Paul, and Leah patrolled the borders to the when Leah phased it had been a surprise to everyone. Though it was no surprise, ever since Sam broke her heart, she had a terrible anger problem. Then one day while she was arguing over her temper tantrums, she phased right there in front of her parent, and caused her father to have a fatal heart attack. She was still sick over it, still so angry at herself for her failure to control her anger. After seeing her phase her younger brother phased as well to her shock and surprise. Leah being able to shift was a well-kept secret among the tribe.
They searched for hours, the scent was at a dead end once they hit the river, the vampire must have jumped across to get away. Together the three of them howled before returning home. By the time they returned to Jacob's house, it was after 3pm in the afternoon. Jacob looked at the clock, then checked his phone for messages. Hermione texted twice, the first was to let him know they were going shopping, and the second was to let him know they were returning from shopping, and she wanted to see him if he was free. He returned her text in the negative he had nothing to do, and so he begged her to call him when she returned home.
…
As promised, Hermione called Jacob when she returned home, and they spent the rest of the evening talking on the phone. He told her about what had happened that morning, "we can try again tomorrow," Hermione said before they made plans to do just that. Only they would meet at the beach at 7:30 am if it wasn't raining, for a picnic and a walk along the beach. Followed by intimate snogging in the sand, and maybe a visit to the meadow for additional snogging.
After making plans, they said goodnight, Hermione went to bed happy thinking happy thoughts about the future.
...
Simultaneously, Bella decided to call Edward "Bella," he said breathlessly, "I didn't expect to hear from you till tomorrow."
"I just wanted to apologize for being angry with you for asking for my father's blessing to marry me," she said into the receiver, "I was wrong to be angry with you. I know you don't own me, and that you don't want to own me. I guess that's just how I've always seen it, as a man taking ownership, like I am your property. Or you want me to be."
"Bella," Edward sighed leaning into the wall, "that was not my intention to make you feel that way. And of course, I forgive you. I love you; I'll always forgive you."
"Thank you, Edward," Bella said, releasing her breath, tears trickled down her cheeks, "thank you for loving me, even when I make it impossible."
"When you make it impossible, that is when I love you the most," he said, causing her to chuckle, "I can't wait till we are married, then I will show you how we are supposed to make up from fights like these."
"I imagine it will involve lots of alone time," she said, breathlessly moving to sit on the bed, "which makes me very glad you cannot read my thoughts."
"And why is that?" he said his smug grin filled his voice and Bella laughed silently before replying in a similar tone, "No reason."
"Tease," he said with a huff, his voice turning playful.
"You start it," she said, laughing at his frustration. She was resting back on her pillows on her bed now. The conversation continued with light teasing banter for some time before Bella started to yawn, "hurry over and help me sleep."
"Already here," he said with a laugh, sure enough, she went to the window, and he was in the tree outside her window. She blushed, praying that he hadn't seen what she had been doing while she was alone. His look turned dark, before he pushed his lust away and crawled into the window. After their initial greeting, it didn't take long for Bella to get comfortable and fall asleep.
After he was sure she was knocked out, he extracted himself from her grip, and laid her down on the bed. She whined as she rolled towards the body pillow, and he watched as she wrapped herself around it. Smiling as he leant down and kissed her brow, he whispered into her ear something he would never dare say out loud or repeat except within her hearing. after saying goodnight, he crawled back out the window and headed back towards his house. He had many things going through his mind.
Her dreams that night were ones forecasting how happy their private life would be. She was ready to take the next step and I he was more than ready to as well. Her dreams reflected their shared desires, so it was good that he had left before she started moaning in her sleep.

A/N: I'm sorry for the delay and the lack of adult detail my daughters are reading my things and so yeah. I will post more details as a side story. I wasn't able to work on this story for lack of time and lost my thoughts for this chapter. As you might be wondering, this chapter was about Bella.
