The rest of the week went by smoothly. Sirius was getting used to being at Hogwarts again. Arcturus told him to continue doing his best in his classes, and if the teachers thought he was cheating, then the teachers could complain to him. Sirius smirked. No teacher would willingly complain to Arcturus Black.
A week after classes started, Sirius was heading back to Gryffindor Tower after coming from the library when he came across an injured Narcissa. He gasped and ran to her side.
"Cissa, are you alright?" he asked worriedly.
"Sirius," Narcissa gasped out before coughing up blood.
"What happened?" Sirius asked frantically.
"A student, (cough) a Ravenclaw, (cough) attacked me," Narcissa said between coughs.
Sirius wanted to go after whoever had hurt his cousin, but he didn't have time. He had to help Narcissa to the Hospital Wing.
"Come on, let's get you to the Hospital Wing," Sirius said, helping her up. He saw her wand on the ground, and picked it up for her. "I have your wand. I'll give it to Madam Pomfrey so she can give it back to you when she's ready to," he explained. They walked to the Hospital Wing, Narcissa still coughing up blood.
"MADAM POMFREY!" Sirius screamed. Madam Pomfrey came flying out of her office.
"What in the name of Merlin are you doing, yelling in the hospital wing?" she asked angrily before stopping short. "Miss Black! Here, come lay down."
"Will she be alright, Madam Pomfrey?" Sirius asked.
"She will be fine, Mr. Black. Thank you for bringing her, though next time, do use an indoor voice," she scolded him lightly.
"Sorry, Ma'am," Sirius apologized. "Here is her wand." He handed over Narcissa's wand. "She must have been disarmed or dropped it when she was attacked."
"Who attacked her?" the medi-witch asked.
"It was a Ravenclaw third year," Narcissa responded.
Moments later, Flitwick and Dumbledore arrived in the Hospital Wing. Flitwick looked horrified that one of his students would attack any student, while Dumbledore shook his head.
"Miss Black, it is clear that you were attacking a Ravenclaw third year, and so you must have injured yourself so that you could put the blame on someone else," the headmaster stated as though it was obvious. Sirius let out a low growl.
"Headmaster, I would never attack anyone," Narcissa said, looking Dumbledore straight in the eyes. "I promise you, it was the Ravenclaw who attacked me." Sirius realized at that moment that Narcissa had let Dumbledore see the memory when she had eye contact with him.
"Miss Black, Slytherins are known for attacking people from other houses, and you clearly attacked someone from another house," Dumbledore said. "Lying to me will not work. Twenty points from Slytherin."
Sirius was about to lose his temper on Dumbledore when none other than Ted Tonks came in with an injured Andromeda Black.
"What happened?" Madam Pomfrey asked, rushing to Andromeda's side.
"A Ravenclaw attacked me," the girl replied.
"Now, now, I highly doubt a Ravenclaw would attack a student," Dumbledore said in his grandfatherly tone.
"But it's true!" Ted protested. "I was coming around the corner just as the attacker was leaving. I saw it happen!"
Dumbledore turned to Madam Pomfrey. "Both Miss Andromeda and Narcissa Black seem to be suffering from brain damage. I don't know why else they would be under the impression that a Ravenclaw attacked them. Either that, or they're making it up." Madam Pomfrey glared at Dumbledore, barely keeping it together.
"Headmaster, get out of my Hospital Wing," she snarled. Dumbledore nodded with a smile on his face. He then turned to Ted.
"Mr. Tonks, I'd be careful if I were you. Being friends with a Slytherin is pretty dangerous," he warned him. "The Black family is a dark family that will kill you at their first opportunity." With that, Dumbledore left the Hospital Wing.
Sirius lost it. "How DARE he IGNORE evidence?!" he shouted.
"I agree with you," Ted said with a nod. "I've been friends with Andromeda since first year, and I know for a fact that she would never kill me. Not all Slytherins are bad."
Sirius nodded. "Someone's attacking members of the House of Black," he said, eyes blazing. "I will not stand for it. Madam Pomfrey, could I please use your fireplace to call Lord Black?"
Madam Pomfrey gasped, and looked nervous. At last, she nodded. Sirius headed into Madam Pomfrey's office.
A few minutes later, Sirius returned with Lord Black.
"Lord Black, thank you for coming," Madam Pomfrey said with a sigh of relief. "Miss Narcissa Black has more severe injuries than Miss Andromeda Black, though both will recover with time."
"What, pray tell, were their injuries?" Arcturus asked.
"Oh, of course," Madam Pomfrey said quickly, not wanting to anger the man. "Narcissa has a broken rib, a broken foot, and a coughing blood curse that makes her cough up blood. Andromeda has a broken arm and the same coughing blood curse on her."
"And the headmaster refuses to punish those who are truly responsible?" Arcturus asked Flitwick, who was standing in the corner.
"That's correct, Lord Black," the professor squeaked. "And I can't do a thing about it, because the headmaster gets the last say. I can't overrule his decisions."
"Also, Sir, Headmaster Dumbledore has been accusing the Black family of being dark and wanting to kill me because I'm a Muggle-born," Ted spoke up. "I also think someone's out to hurt your family. That Ravenclaw, for starters."
"And you are?" Arcturus asked.
"Ted Tonks," Ted informed him.
"Mr. Tonks, thank you for informing me of these developments. If anyone from the House of Black comes after you because you're a Muggle-born, I want you to let me know immediately, and I will take care of the threat."
"Oh, thank you, Lord Black," Ted replied with a slight smile.
"Now, please leave," Madam Pomfrey said. "My patients need rest."
"Just a moment, Madame," Arcturus said, then stepped over to Narcissa. "I want you to give me the memory of the attack so I can use it as evidence." Narcissa nodded and let him retrieve the memory. Sirius was doing the same thing with Andromeda.
"Now can my patients rest in peace?" Madam Pomfrey asked, starting to get irritated.
"Yes, I will be leaving you now. Come, Sirius," Lord Black ordered. Sirius followed him out of the hospital wing. Ted left soon after.
