Being consistent with using Mina's given and family name isn't easy for me? It feels weird when I use "Ashido," especially since I feel like she isn't addressed as "Ashido" in the show and manga. Using "Mina" is just easier, ya know?
This chapter is short for a reason. You'll see in a minute.
Author's Note at the bottom.
The Chaos King was not a man to be underestimated. The hero: Deku realized this when they first met.
Five years after Tokyo happened, the Prime Minister was about to sign an official declaration to establish a brand-new Hero Safety Commission comprised of retired pro heroes and civilians. There would be no president. Instead, the inner circle would consist of 5 heroes and five civilians. They would meet and discuss any issue regarding the rights of heroes as well as payments for services, overseeing official licenses, supervising hero schools, and so on.
But on the day that the Prime Minister would establish the new Commission, the Chaos King attacked. Numerous heroes, including Deku and the Toshinori Hero Agency, were caught up in the battle. The inheritor of One for All found out in a second that a standard Smash did nothing against the villain's indestructible skin. While casualties were minimal, it showed just how soft the heroes had gotten in the years between then and the end of Tokyo.
After the battle, Deku's war with the Discorders and their leader would begin. Their first actual battle would soon be known as the Battle of Crisis Island, the home to a thousand villains. The Prime Minister secretly dispatched the Toshinori Hero Agency to investigate the island and apprehend the Chaos King for the attack against the government. Instead, it turned into a liberation mission. Thousands of civilians called the island home before the villains moved in. Quarantined without any way to call for help, they became prisoners in their own homes.
When the Toshinori Hero Agency liberated the island, Deku and the Chaos King would duel for the first time. It would become a draw, unlike before, with the Chaos King fleeing the island while Deku failed to capture him. The civilians were saved, and the T.H.A. took most of the island's villains into custody, so it wasn't a complete loss. Unfortunately, that battle led to the discovery of Deku's greatest secret.
The secret that would become the basis for their war against each other: One for All.
When the Chaos King revealed himself, Deku immediately activated his Full Shield. The young heroes behind him took similar battle stances as the Symbol; however, they looked at the hero with concern. The hero's eyes were narrowed, and a sneer was evident on his face.
The Chaos King didn't let up his smile. "My, my...you don't look happy to see me," he mused.
"I'm not exactly thrilled to see the bastard that hurt my little girl and stole her Quirk," Deku said.
The Chaos King placed a hand on his chest. "Such vulgarity. Vengeance is unbecoming of you, Midoriya," he said.
Deku didn't say anything, prompting the Chaos King to continue talking. "If it makes the situation any better: I don't plan on continuing this little war between us! Ever since Crisis, I've fought with myself in regards to One for All! Can I take the Quirk to make more money than half of my collection? Is the power of the Eight before you worth it? Should I keep it for myself?" He said.
Midoriya's eyes widened. He felt pins and needles crawl up his back, and Uraraka and Bakugo could feel it too. Everyone else was confused, except for Yaoyorozu, who had heard the name of his Quirk before.
One for All? He wants the Quirk and everything that Deku has...but the Eight? What does he mean? She wondered.
The Chaos King smiled. "Oh...wait, I forgot about your present company. They don't know about it, don't they? They don't know of your destiny?"
Behind him, Jiro's earphone jacks started to twitch. His heart rate is picking up...
"Do they not know of the Warrior Hero: Deku? Do they not know of the darkness in your heart?"
The Chaos King opened his arms wide. "DO THEY NOT SEE THE BLOOD!"
"SHUT UP!"
Deku charged into the battle with speeds to rival Iida and Hawks. He disappeared in a flash and reappeared behind the Discorder grunts and in front of his enemy. His fist was primed and slammed into the Chaos King's cheek.
The Smash wasn't effective. Instead of sending the Chaos King hurling across the city, the punch only caused the titan to stumble to the side. The villain smiled and countered with a rising uppercut into his stomach. The punch knocked the hero back, but a quick launch off his back foot sent him back into the fight, knocking back the Discorder criminal as he moved.
The Chaos King blocked an incoming attack and clenched his fist. He swung at his head, barely missing the Symbol of Peace's head. Deku followed through with a straight jab at the villain's stomach, connecting the strike with no effect on the villain.
The Chaos King fired off an uppercut, slamming into the hero and sending him back to the young U.A. students. Midoriya watched with a sense of dread throughout their little skirmish as his older self landed blow after blow. O-One for All...isn't enough? What is his Quirk?
With enough space, the Chaos King sighed and shook his right hand. "I-I gotta admit: you're harder to hit than I remember. Then again, you're not the same Deku I had strapped to my chair back in my base!"
Deku didn't say a word. "In any case, though, I've had my fun. This world stands on the brink of chaos, and I know I can profit from it!" The villain said. "The Paranormal Liberation Front exists on borrowed time!"
The Symbol of Peace smiled and rose from the ground. "For once...I agree with the garbage you're spitting out." He took a fighting stance. "It is my destiny to destroy the Front...just as it's my destiny to put you away for good!"
The Chaos King smiled. He raised his right hand and snapped. "We'll see..."
At the sound of the snap, two large Discorder thugs exited from the alleyway with two civilians held by their necks. One was a man with blond hair and pitch-black eyes. The other was a woman with long, black hair and green eyes. Their eyes were wide with fear as they struggled to free themselves from their captors.
The two thugs had stone-like skin and rigid facial features. Their eyes were gold and glowing. Their suits looked too small on them as they appeared to be one wrong move away from ripping apart. The pros and the young heroes felt their muscles tighten when the civilians appeared. On the other hand, Deku shifted his gaze to them before turning back to the Chaos King.
The villain smiled. "Now...this brings back memories. Do you remember what you said to me when I unleashed all of those Nomu on Crisis?"
Deku shifted his stance. "I'm the hero that slays monsters," he responded. "What of it?"
The Chaos King smiled. "Can you bring yourself to slay these monsters?"
With another snap of the boss's fingers, the two Discorder thugs dug into their pockets and fished out small devices. They were small, blue injection devices with the Chaos Star on them. Once he saw them, Deku's eyes widened. "No...don't tell me..."
The Chaos King smiled. "It took some time before they perfected the formula, and the Villain Factory hasn't caught up on the level of technology needed to make it, but this is close enough," he said.
Deku narrowed his eyes. "YOU BASTARD!"
He rushed toward the thugs, but they were quicker. One of them fired a green slime at the hero, sticking him to the ground. The young Symbol of Peace actively tried to break free, but he found the sticky nature of the lime to be stronger than he anticipated. The young heroes behind him, finally overcoming the freeze that kept them in place, rushed to help the hero.
The decision to act was what the Chaos King was hoping for. He raised his fist and clenched it, giving his gang the signal they were waiting for. The two thugs grabbed one end of the device with their teeth and pulled it off, revealing a set of injection needles.
Without any further invitation, the Chaos King gave the order. The thugs jammed the needles into the necks of hostages, and Deku's eyes went wide. "Don't you understand what you're doing, Chaos King? Messing with Time will only lead to consequences that neither of us expected! You can change history like this!"
The Chaos King smiled. "Oh, but don't you see? History needs to be changed. I am a low-level scrounger during this period. I'm a bottom-feeder at the northern-most edge of the country. By kick-starting the rise of my empire, not only will I have a greater chance of succeeding in the world market, but your victory against the Paranormal Liberation Front will be immediately followed by your early death and with me inheriting the ultimate power!"
Deku started to pull at the slime. "Trust me, little heroes, when I say this: you will understand the folly of standing against me. I have billions in my name! I have the Q-Series rifles! I have an unstoppable hoard of monsters under my command!" The Chaos King smiled. "And soon, I will become the Tenth and final wielder!"
The two hostages went limp when the thugs pressed on the devices. They pulled them out once they were done and threw the devices away. The hostages dropped to the ground and didn't react when they fell face-first. Ashido, realizing that her acid could easily remove the slime, managed to melt enough of the slime to free the Symbol of Peace.
Deku didn't even say "thank you" when Mina freed him. He rushed the Chaos King and swung at the villain. The villain smiled and stepped back. "It's all just so easy..."
The hero didn't register Danger Sense until it was too late. A large arm burst through the ground where the Chaos King stood, stopping Deku in mid-air. The young heroes and the pros watched as a Nomu started crawling out of the ground.
The beast was gray-colored with black highlights throughout the body. It was lean but muscular with sharpened claws for hands. The beast also had large tesla coils throughout the body. Its head didn't have much of a physical form; however, one could argue that a brain was still visible through the electrical cloud that came from its neck.
Once the Nomu was out of the ground, it swung at the Symbol of Peace, hitting him with an electrical attack that sent him back to the young heroes. The Chaos King turned to the hostages and smiled. "Behold the tool to society's greatest threat...!"
The bodies of the two hostages started to squirm while on the ground. The woman threw her hand out and slammed the ground, creating a small impact point in the concrete. The man pushed his upper body up and screamed into the air, chilling the blood of everyone in the area. Their bodies started to move in a fluid-like way. Their fingers cracked and extended from their joints as they started to grow.
Their growing bodies started to tear through their clothes. The woman's skin started to turn sea-green while the man's skin started to turn black. Large spike erected from his forearms, and his fists started to resemble a set of brass knuckles. The woman's arms started to extend while her body started to thin out.
"FROM THE MAKERS OF THE INSTANT VILLAIN, AND THE NEXT-LEVEL VILLAIN...!"
As their clothes tore off, the hostages' bodies started to appear more monstrous. Their faces, painted with wide eyes and pure agony, morphed into inhuman portraits. The woman's face found her hair melting away and her eyes becoming more triangle-like and glowing gold. Her nose and mouth disappeared, giving her a more stream-like face.
The man's transformation also saw his hair disappear. His eyes remained, but his teeth sharpened to a point, and his tongue appeared serpent-like. His spine started to protrude from his back, and from each vertebra spawned a sharp, thin spike.
"THE VILLAIN FACTORY'S OWN...INSTANT NOMU!"
The two hostages, once their transformation was complete, slammed the ground and roared into the sky. Unlike any other Nomu, however, their skulls remained intact. Their roars were followed by the Nomu with electric teslas. Its roar sent tendrils of electricity into the sky. The young heroes heard more roars echo through the streets, and when they looked up at the roofs of the buildings, they saw winged Nomu crawling into view.
The thugs that gave them the serum and the original three criminals from before stepped away as the monsters slowly approached the heroes. The Chaos King smiled and raised his fist. "KILL THEM ALL...EXCEPT FOR DEKU. BRING HIM TO ME ALIVE!"
Deku picked himself up once he heard the command, and once his eyes settled on the Nomu, he felt his heart break. "No..."
The Chaos King stepped backward into the alleyway he came from. "Until next time, hero..."
The monsters attacked.
Hi everyone! I am so sorry for the month delay for this chapter! This last month has been exhausting with work, mainly because I've had to pick up extra shifts because we're short-staffed. I also started university last week, so I've been stretched thin. Thankfully, school is somehow a great motivator for writing.
I'll finish the chapter for Into the Fire soon and have that updated too. It is rated M, mainly for language, so if you have that filter on and want to see what I've come up with so far, go on and change that. Otherwise, I hope to have more chapters come out soon without the unnecessary delay between chapters. Have a good morning/afternoon/night!
