Hey minna-san! This is Shunya Toshiki here, bringing you another chapter of my Hibiki story. Been feeling the groove for this story, especially since I started watching Volume 9.
Man…It really goes to show you, I'm really far behind for this story. Well, I'm in no rush, I'm sure I'll catch up to it eventually.
I don't own Kamen Rider Hibiki and RWBY, those belong to their creators. This is for fun, not profit.
Chapter 9: His Name is Kabuki
In a classroom Team HYPN, RWBY, and JNPR were listening to a lesson by Glynda about Dust.
"As I'm sure you're already aware, students, but Dust is the world's leading resource. It's what we used for fuel, electricity, and most importantly ammunition. It was thanks to the discovery of Dust, that humanity was able to push back the Grimm and what kept Huntsmen alive. There are several types of Dust, but the four basic ones…I think I'll let one of you answer." Glynda said.
Weiss was hopeful that the instructor would choose her due to her heritage in the Schnee family. But Glynda turns to Yuki.
"Miss Chidori, would you care to answer this question?" Glynda asked, and Yuki nodded as she stood up.
"Of course. The basic Dust that are commonly used are red, blue, dark orange, and green. Red Dust is used to generate fire, Blue Dust is used to generate water, Dark Orange Dust is used to generate earth, and Green Dust is used to generate wind." Yuki said.
"Correct. Well done." Glynda said.
Some of the other students were whispering about Yuki.
"Oh please. Anyone could answer that question."
"Yeah, but shouldn't forget that she's the heiress of the Chidori Foundation. And they're Remeant's top producers of Dust, right next to the Schnee Dust Company."
Weiss was able to hear them whispering which caused her to pout before she stared at Yuki.
Yuki then noticed that Weiss was staring at her before she gave the Schnee heiress a sly smile which angered Weiss some more.
"Oh…The nerve of her!" Weiss growls.
"I thought you two were getting along?" Yang said.
"Still doesn't change the fact that there's still a rivalry between us." Weiss grumbles.
After some more time, Glynda's class was now over. The students were leaving the room one at a time, Hitoshi was about to follow his team before someone called out to him.
"Hey, Hitoshi!"
Hitoshi stops before he turns around and sees Ruby approaching him.
"Oh, hey Ruby. What's up?" Hitoshi asked.
"I just want to ask, are you free tomorrow?" Ruby asked, and Hitoshi nodded.
"Yeah. I really don't have anything planned besides some personal training." Hitoshi said.
"Great! I'm planning on going to town to get some supplies. You want to come with me?" Ruby asked.
Hitoshi hummed as he thought about it before he smiled and nodded.
"Sure. I don't see why not." Hitoshi said.
"Perfect. I'll see you tomorrow." Ruby said.
"Yeah. See you tomorrow." Hitoshi said before he left.
Ruby then heard someone whistling behind her, she turned around and saw it was her sister Yang as she had an impressed look on her face.
"Well, look at you, Ruby. You barely hit puberty and you're already asking a guy out on a date." Yang said.
"What are you talking about? We're just going out to town for some shopping." Ruby said innocently and Yang chuckles to hear that before she pats on her sister's shoulder.
"Keep telling yourself that." Yang said before she left. "Anyway, I'm rooting for you."
Ruby blinks a few times before she finally realizes it.
"Wait…a date?" She mutters to herself.
Unknown to Hitoshi and Ruby is that a small robotic flying camera was watching as it was sending footage to its master.
In a dark abandoned building, the hooded man known as Kabuki was the one using the robotic camera to spy on Hitoshi and his team for some time.
After watching Hitoshi having his conversation with Ruby, he had a smile on his face as this was the perfect chance for him to strike.

(The song begins as Hitoshi was at the place his parents died.)
(They see you as small and helpless. They see you as just a child. Surprise when they find out that a warrior will soon run wild.) (Hitoshi then looks at his Henshin Onsa Onkaku, and then looks and sees Hibiki standing in front of him, looking at each other. As the wind blows past them, the title appears.)
(Prepare for your greatest moments. Prepare for your finest hour. The dream that you've always dreamed is suddenly about to flower.) (Yuki and Page, were sitting in front of their mother in their home. Nagisa was sitting on a bench playing some music with his Ongekigen.)
(We are lightning. Straying from the thunder. Miracles of ancient wonder.) (We see an army of Grimm but are soon replaced with an army of Makamou. We soon see Ramon in front of a legion of goons. Then we saw Kabuki, and standing beside him were Dark Decade and Shadow Moon. We soon see the members of Team HYPN in a circle, and the four of them are in charge.)
(This will be the day we've waited for. This will be the day we open up the door.) (While fighting, we soon see the three of them in their Rider forms fighting Makamous.)
(I don't wanna hear your absolution. Hope you're ready for a revolution.) (Then we see the members of Team JNPR looking at the school. We soon see Team RWBY practicing their weapons.)
(Welcome to a world of new solutions. Welcome to a world of bloody evolution.) (We see Ozpin, drinking his coffee, with Goodwitch next to him on an airship.)
(In time-your heart will open minds. A story will be told…) (We see each member behind their respective symbols. Then we move in front of Beacon and see every character one by one with the last one being Hitoshi.)
(Because victory is in a simple soul!) (We soon see Hibiki practicing with his Ongekibou Rekka before stopping when the title appears.)
Ruby was standing on the flat platform of Beacon Academy as she was waiting for Hitoshi. As she was waiting though, Ruby was pacing back and forth as she felt a little nervous right now.
"Oh…What am I so nervous about?!" Ruby said as she rubs her hands on her head. "It's just me and Hitoshi! Just two friends going into town to get some supplies. Yeah, just the two of us going to a town filled with people. A guy and a girl going out together…alone in a town…"
Ruby groans as she slaps on her face.
"Oh…Who am I kidding? This is a date!" Ruby said.
"Ummmm…Ruby?" Said Hitoshi who was standing behind her.
Ruby jumps forward and turns to Hitoshi in shock as she didn't notice him standing there until now.
"Whoa, Hitoshi! How long have you been standing there?!" Ruby asked while looking a little nervous, and Hitoshi blinked in confusion.
"Not long. I only just got here." He answered.
"Oh…I see…" Ruby said as she rubs on her arm.
"Anyway, should we get going?" Hitoshi asked, and Ruby flinched.
"Right! Of course! We need to get some shopping done! Time waits for no man…or women!" Ruby said before she headed to the ship.
"Right…" Hitoshi said as he followed her.
Unknown to Ruby and Hitoshi, is that their friends and teammates were secretly spying on them while wearing sunglasses.
"Ummm…Yang, remind me, why are we secretly spying on your sister and Hitoshi again?" Blake asked.
"To keep an eye on her." Yang said. "I want to respect my sister's privacy, but when it comes to men, Ruby is still a bit naive on that part. Hitoshi is a great guy, but I want to make sure he won't try anything funny."
"Well, I can understand your…" Nagisa said before he coughed in his hand. "Reasoning for that. But why are we here?" He pointed at himself along with the Chidori sisters.
"Because, if something does happen, then I'm holding you three responsible." Yang answered.
"Yeah…Way to be the overprotective sister, Yang." Weiss said.
"Hey! I'm not overprotective! I'm just watching out for my little sis, there's a difference." Yang explained herself.
"Sure there is." Blake rolled her eyes.
Yang then coughs in her hand.
"Anyway, let's go! The ship is about to take off." Yang said as she quickly boarded the ship and the others slowly followed her.
"Well…I suppose this is one way to waste our weekend." Weiss said, and Nagisa nodded in agreement.
"Agreed." Nagisa said.
Hitoshi and Ruby soon arrive in the town along with their friends as they continue to follow and spy on them in a distance.
As they were walking together, Ruby still felt a little nervous about this situation being alone in town with a guy around her age before Hitoshi spoke to her.
"Hey, Ruby…"
Ruby flinches before she jumps and turns to him.
"Yes! What is it?!" Ruby asked, and Hitoshi blinked.
"I'm just curious, where are we heading first? You did invite me to go with you." Hitoshi reminded her.
"Oh…right!" Ruby said before she coughs in her hand. "Well, our first stop is the weapons shop. There's some things I need to get. If you're fine with that."
"Yeah, it's no problem with me." Hitoshi said.
"Great! Then let's go!" Ruby said before she turns forward and heads to the weapons shop with Hitoshi following.
As she was watching her sister, Yang couldn't help but be disappointed by what Ruby had just told Hitoshi.
"Really, Ruby? Weapons shop? That's the first thing you'll do? And come on, Hitoshi, at least try to speak up for yourself!" Yang said.
"Well, you can't exactly blame them for that. Ruby is a weapons freak." Blake said.
"And Hitoshi is pretty easy going like that." Nagisa said.
"Guess it doesn't matter either way. Let's move, troops!" Yang said as she followed Hitoshi and Ruby by jumping from one hiding spot to the next while the others followed her normally.
"Way to be inconspicuous, Yang." Weiss said.
Hitoshi and Ruby soon arrive at her favorite weapons shop. Ruby had managed to pick out some specialized bullets and parts for her Crescent Rose, they both left the shop holding some bags of the said items in both of their hands.
"Sorry if I bought too much stuff. I know I tend to overdo it sometimes." Ruby said.
"There's no reason to be sorry. I mean, it's not like you're using my money." Hitoshi said, and Ruby chuckles.
"I guess that's true." Ruby said.
Hitoshi then looks at the bags in his hands.
"But still, any reason for the spare parts and bullets?" Hitoshi asked.
"Oh nothing. I just wanted to prepare for the Vytal Festival." Ruby answered.
"Oh yeah. I completely forgot that it's coming up soon." Hitoshi said.
The Vytal Festival is an international festival held every two years in one of the Kingdoms of Remnant in celebration of the end of the Great War. During the festival, the various cultures of the world are celebrated with dances, parades, and a combat tournament. The host Kingdom of the festival rotates every two years, and the host opens its borders to visitors from the other kingdoms.
The tournament rotates which Kingdom it is held in, using the following cycle: Atlas, Vacuo, Mistral, Vale with Atlas hosting the 1st Vytal Tournament sometime after the Great War.
In fact every student from all four Huntsman Academies, Beacon, Haven, Atlas, and Shade travels to the Kingdom where the Vytal Festival is held to compete in the combat tournament. And this year it's being held in Vale, right next to Beacon Academy.
"Yeah, plus I just know there's going to be a lot of strong students competing in it. I want to make sure I'm prepared." Ruby said.
"I see. No wonder you wanted all this stuff." Hitoshi said.
When she heard that, Weiss slapped her hand on her face.
"Dang it! I completely forgot that it was coming up soon too." Weiss said, and Nagisa patted on her back.
"There, there. There's no reason to be upset about it." He told her.
"So, are we heading back? Or is there somewhere else you want to go?" Hitoshi asked.
Ruby was about to answer but she suddenly stops walking as she looks at something, Hitoshi stops walking as well and turns to her.
"Ruby, what's wrong?" Hitoshi asked, instead of answering Ruby uses her speed to jump into a window of a restaurant as she leans close to a poster that was on it.
Hitoshi walks to that said poster and sees they were doing a limited sale of special fruits pancakes, and Hitoshi notices the stars on Ruby's eyes as she looks at the poster.
"Oh…Those pancakes look so good! And they're on a limited sale…Wait, I'm low on money right now!" Ruby said in sadness.
Hitoshi hummed before he shrugged and spoke to Ruby.
"Well, if you want to try it so badly, I can pay for it."
Ruby turns to him in excitement.
"Really?! That would be…" Ruby said before she waved her hands. "Wait, no I can't let you do that. I was the one who invited you."
"Don't worry about it, it's fine. The day is still young, we might as well have some fun while we can." Hitoshi said before he headed into the restaurant.
"Yeah. You're right." Ruby said before she followed him.
In their hiding spot, Yang couldn't help but narrowed her eyes after seeing Hitoshi's offer to pay for those pancakes that Ruby had her eyes on.
"Well played, Hidaka. Well played, but don't think I don't see through you little ploy. Let's move troops." Yang said before she headed to the restaurant.
"Sure, whatever." Weiss said before she and the others followed her.
"She would be a drill sergeant." Nagisa said.
"She would be perfect for the job." Blake commented.
Hitoshi and Ruby were seated on a table together as they were waiting for the manu, while their friends were seated on two tables that were close to them but were still hidden for them.
As they were waiting, Ruby was still a little nervous about this while Hitoshi still acted a little calm, she quietly groaned as she placed her hands on her head.
'Ohhh…Why am I still nervous about this? I really blame Yang for this, I mean I don't even like Hitoshi like that.' Ruby said before that she suddenly remembers the times that Hitoshi had come to her aid as Hibiki, during that time in their enrollment test and in that time in the cursed temple.
Ruby's cheeks turned red to remember that before Hitoshi called out to her.
"Ummm, Ruby." Ruby flinches as she waved her hands.
"Wh-What?!" Ruby asked nervously, and Hitoshi blinked before he answered.
"The waiter is here."
Ruby blinked and saw that the waiter was indeed standing close to them.
"Is there something wrong, miss?" He asked.
Ruby quickly placed her hands on her lap.
"No! Everything is fine!" Ruby said, which caused both Hitoshi and the waiter to blink while Yang placed a hand on her face as she shook her head while the others chuckled.
"Come on, Ruby…!" Yang mutters.
The waiter then coughs in his hand before he hands a menu for both Hitoshi and Ruby.
"Anyway, here's the menu for today's special. What would you like?" He asked.
Both Hitoshi and Ruby look at the different options of fruit mixed pancakes.
"Hmmmm…This chocolate banana looks, but so does this blueberry one…Oh, I'll take the strawberry mix!" Ruby said as she pointed at the said order.
"Got it." The waiter said as he wrote it down on his notepad and then he turned to Hitoshi. "And you, sir?"
"Think I'll take the blue and black berry mix." Hitoshi requested and the waiter wrote it down.
"Got it. Your orders will come soon." The waiter said before he left.
As they waited, Ruby couldn't help but be excited for her pancakes.
"Oh…I can't wait to try it!" Ruby said, and Hitoshi chuckled to see that.
"I could see that." Hitoshi said, and Ruby blushed in embarrassment.
"I'm sorry…that wasn't very mature of me…" Ruby said.
"Don't worry about it. You're fine just the way you are." Hitoshi said and Ruby looked up at him with a smile.
"You really think so?" Ruby asked, and Hitoshi nodded. Ruby chuckles and rubs the back of her head. "Thanks, I'm glad to hear that."
The waiter soon returned with their plates of pancakes.
"Your order is here." He said.
"Alright!" Ruby cheered while Hitoshi had a smile on his face.
They soon begin to eat their pancakes, Ruby slowly enjoys the flavors of the strawberry mix.
"Hmmm…So good. The sweet texture and the strawberry syrup really go well with the fluffiness of the pancakes." Ruby said.
Hitoshi also enjoys his order of pancakes.
"That sounds nice. But I think that the sweet bitterness of this blue and blackberry one really brings out the soft and sweet texture of the pancakes." Hitoshi said.
"Is that so…Then how about I have a taste of yours and see?" Ruby asked.
Hitoshi thought about it before he shrugged.
"Sure, I don't see why not." Hitoshi said before he used his fork to cut a piece of his pancakes and brought that piece in front of Ruby. "Here."
"Huh?" Ruby blinks. "What are you…?"
"Isn't this how you usually offer your food to someone?" Hitoshi asked.
Ruby slowly processes this before her face fully turns red as she figures that Hitoshi was offering to feed her.
"Wait…but that's…" Ruby mutters as she looks at his fork, and Hitoshi blinks before he realizes why she was nervous about it.
"Oh, right. I guess you don't eat from someone else's fork. Sorry, I'll just…" Hitoshi said as he was about to put the fork, but Ruby quickly ate the piece anyway. Hitoshi blinks to see that. "Umm…Ruby…"
Ruby blinks on what she had just done before she quickly pulled herself and waved her hands.
"Oh, sorry! I don't know why I did that! It just happened!" Ruby said, and Hitoshi blinks before he chuckles.
"It's alright. I don't really mind. So can I have a piece of yours now?" Hitoshi asked.
"Sure…be my guest." Ruby said before Hitoshi uses his fork to eat a piece of Ruby's pancake.
"Hmmm…this is good." Hitoshi said.
"Yeah…I know right?" Ruby said nervously, inside her head she was mentally punching on her head while yelling at herself.
'What the heck is wrong with me?! Why did you do that to me, body?!'
Yang carefully spies on them on her chair as she lowered her sunglasses.
"He's more cunning than I gave him credit for. To think he was able to make Ruby do an indirect kiss like that. Very clever." Yang said.
"Yeah, keep telling yourself." Nagisa said as he was eating some chocolate banana pancakes which made the others turn to him which made Nagisa stop eating and soon explained himself. "What? It was a limited sale. Don't blame me."
After they finished their pancakes, Hitoshi and Ruby soon left the restaurant along with their friends as they continued to secretly follow them.
But unknown to them is that Kabuki was secretly spying on Hitoshi and Ruby as well, but his eyes were mostly set on Hitoshi and his eyes were filled with the intent to kill him.
Sensing that very bloodlust, Hitoshi then turned around and the hooded man was now gone.
Ruby stops walking and turns to Hitoshi.
"Hitoshi, is something wrong?" She asked.
"I thought someone was spying on us. Must have been my imagination." Hitoshi told her.
Hitoshi and Ruby continue to walk together while their friends are hidden behind a wall as they thought that he had noticed them before Yang and Nagisa poke out their heads.
"Man, he's good." Yang said.
"Told you that you should be careful." Nagisa told her.
Kabuki is seen walking in a dark alleyway before he brings out a communication device and contacts someone, he then places it on his ear as he soon makes contact.
"It's me. I need that thing I ask for." Kabuki said.
Both Hitoshi and Ruby continue to walk around town.
"So, is there any place you want to go next?" Hitoshi asked.
"Hmmm…Let's see…" Ruby hummed as she tried to think of something.
While she wasn't looking, Ruby was walking towards a red light and a car was heading towards, acting quickly Hitoshi grabbed onto wrist and pulled Ruby back as the car went past them safely.
"That was a close one." Hitoshi said before he turned to Ruby. "You okay, Ruby…?"
"Yeah. I think so…" Ruby said as she turned to Hitoshi.
Both teens notice how close they were now as Hitoshi's hands were on her shoulder and back while Ruby was leaning in front of him. They blushed before they quickly jumped away from each other.
"Y-You really need to be more careful than!" Hitoshi said.
"Right! Sorry, I wasn't paying attention, that was my bad! But still, thanks!" Ruby said.
In their hiding spot, Yang lowered her sunglasses once again.
"Don't tell me…Did he set that up from the start?!" Yang said in rage as her eyes turned red.
"Calm down, Yang. I'm sure that was only a coincidence." Yuki told her.
"That's what they all say…!" Yang said while the others sighed and shook their heads.
"Ummm, Yuki…" Page calls out and Yuki turns to her younger twin. "Promise me that you won't be like this if I start to go out with a boy?"
Yuki smiles and pets her sister on the head.
"Of course. Just as long as you do the same." Yuki said before both sisters chuckled at each other.
After overcoming the awkwardness of what happened, both Hitoshi and Ruby went back to walking but then Ruby stopped as something caught her eye, Hitoshi stopped walking and turned to her.
"Ruby…" Hitoshi said and saw that Ruby was looking at a weapons magazine, he chuckled to see that. "Yeah, that figures."
Hitoshi was about to offer to buy it for her, but then they heard screaming and so did their friends who were spying on them.
They looked and saw several of the townspeople were running away as they were screaming.
"Well, that can't be good." Hitoshi said before he headed to where the people were running away from.
"Hey, Hitoshi, wait for me." Ruby said as she followed them.
Their friends soon followed them.
Hitoshi, Ruby, and their friends soon arrived at the spot where the people were running away from, and to their shock they saw several cat and spider Makamou rampaging in the area attacking and destroying everything around them.
"Makamou, here?" Ruby said in shock.
"No, this can't be right. Makamou don't usually reveal themselves like this. What's going on?" Hitoshi said before he and Ruby saw a cat Makamou attacking them which they dodge in time. "Guess I don't have time to worry about that."
Hitoshi soon brings out his Onkaku and flicks his finger on it and uses it to transform into Hibiki.
The Cat Makamou turns to him as Hibiki pulls out his Rekka, and then the two begin to battle each other.
Hibiki dodges two attacks from the Cat Makamou's claws before he counters by slamming his Rekka on its chest forcing it to stumble back.
Hibiki then saw two Spider Makamou jumping towards him to attack before they shot in the head and fell to the ground.
Hibiki soon saw the shooter was Ruby armed with her weapon before she gave Hibiki a thumbs up, and Hibiki smiles before he dodges another Spider Makamou's attack.
Ruby then saw a Cat Makamou charging at her attack, but Ruby uses her speed to dodge and changes her weapon into its scythe mode and slashes the Makamou and it falls to the ground.
"Not this time." Ruby said.
But then another Spider Makamou attacks her from behind but coming to her aid, was Yang as she punches the Makamou on the head sending it flying to the wall as it crashes into it.
"Hands of my sister!" Yang said before Ruby turned to her in confusion.
"Yang?" Ruby said, and Yang flinches before she turns to her sister. "What are you doing here?"
"Oh…I was…" Yang mutters as she tries to think of something while a Spider Makamou sneaks up behind her to attack but Yang backhanded punches it on the face which sends the Makamou to the ground. "...In the neighborhood."
"Uh-huh…" Ruby said.
She then saw that Blake and Weiss were also fighting some of the Makamou using their weapons. Ruby narrowed her eyes before she turned to her sister, and Yang waved her hands.
"I'm telling you, it's just a coincidence!" Yang said.
"Sure, it is." Ruby shrugged before she attacked one charging Makamou. "But let's just focus on this for now!"
"Fine by me!" Yang said before she lands a few punches on another charging Makamou.
Hibiki continues to attack the Makamou with his Rekka, before he stops and notices that three Makamou jumping at him to attack but they were shot in the head with ice needles.
Hibiki soon saw that the shooter was Ibuki armed with her gun.
"Yuki?" Hibiki said in confusion before he saw both Todoroki and Page cutting down some of the Makamou with their weapons. "Nagisa? Page? Why are you here?"
"Oh…We were in the neighborhood…" Todoroki said before he attacked one Makamou who was charging at him.
"Really?" Hibiki asked before he attacked another Makamou.
"Anyway, can we ask questions another time?" Ibuki said before she fired ice needles at three charging Makamou.
"Right!" Hibiki said before he attacked two Makamous on the chest.
Blake cuts down several Makamous using her Gambol Shroud as a kusarigama.
Weiss then stags her sword to the ground to impale several Makamou with ice spikes.
Page then changes her Twin Hebi to chainswords as she uses them to cut down several Makamous around her.
Ibuki soon attaches her Ongekimei Narukaze to her gun, she soon took a deep breath and fired a sonic wave at several Makamous in front of her to destroy them as they exploded.
Todoroki soon attaches his Ongekishin Raigou to his weapon to change into a guitar, he then plays it to channel electricity around his body and fires bolts of lightning at several Makamou which were around him as they exploded.
"Yeah!" Todoroki roared as he continued to play his Ongekigen Retsurai.
Hibiki ignited the tips of his Rekka before he threw several fireballs at the Makamou in front of him which destroyed them.
Hibiki then saw that there are still several more Makamou as Team RWBY continues to battle some of them.
"Damn it, just how many Makamou are there?" Hibiki said.
Then they heard someone clapping. Everyone looked and saw a hooded man approaching them as he was the one clapping his hands.
"Well done. You are certainly impressive." He said before he eyes on Hibiki, Ibuki, and Todoroki. "You three especially."
"Who are you? What are you doing here? You should run." Hibiki told him, but the hooded man just laughed.
"Run? And why should I do that? All of you are my prey here."
The hooded man soon brings out a black colored version of the Henshin Onsa Onkaku which surprised the three Oni Riders.
"Is that…?!" Hibiki said.
He soon unfolds the black Onsa and taps it on his ankle and as it rings, the hooded man soon brings it on his forehead and speaks.
"Kabuki."
Then cherry blossom petals appear around the hooded man and transform into an Oni Rider.
His body is colored black and was wearing green armor with some red. He was wearing golden shoulder guards with the right side having a red horn on top of it, his belt was colored gold with a red and gold colored buckle in front of it with a red cloth attached to it. His head was also dual colored with his right side being green while his right was colored red with two different size horns on the two sides, the green side having smaller horn while his red side was larger.
The Oni Riders and Page were shocked to see his appearance as they recognized him.
"No way…" Todoroki mutters.
"It…can't be…!" Ibuki said.
"Is that…Kabuki?!" Hibiki said in shock.
Kabuki's Onsa soon changes into a sword before he slowly approaches the Oni Riders and charges at them.
Kabuki attacks Ibuki and Todoroki first which they dodge, he then swings his sword at Page, and she narrowly dodges it. Kabuki then saw Hibiki charging at him to attack but he parries his attack and slashes on Hibiki's chest forcing him to stumble back.
Kabuki then saw Todoroki attacking him with his Retsurai, which he blocks with his sword, Kabuki then skillfully pushed Todoroki's weapon to the ground and landed a punch on his face forcing the Thunder Oni to stumble back.
Kabuki then notices that Ibuki was aiming her gun at him before she fires rock bullets at him, Kabuki dodges the first two before he uses his sword to cut down the rest of them as he charges at Ibuki, then when he was close enough, Kabuki slashes Ibuki's gun out of her hand and slashes on her chest several times followed with a kick sending Ibuki to the ground.
Then Kabuki then attacks Hibiki once again, and both Oni Riders clash weapons several times, but then Kabuki was able to parry Hibiki's next attack and slashes on his chest forcing Hibiki to stumble back before he falls on one knee.
Kabuki then slashes at Hibiki once again, and Hibiki blocks Kabuki's sword with his Rekka bringing their weapons in a lock.
"I'm almost impressed. It's no wonder you inherited the name Hibiki." Kabuki said.
"Are you really that Kabuki from the legends?" Hibiki asked, and Kabuki huffed before he answered.
"Yes, and no." Kabuki said.
"What?" Hibiki said in confusion.
Kabuki manages to push Hibiki's Rekka back and slashes on his chest, sending him rolling on the ground.
"Hitoshi!" Ruby said in worry as she was about to rush in and help but some of the Makamou got in her way. "Dammit! Don't get in my way!"
Ruby soon attacks the Makamou in front of her.
Hibiki manages to stand up on his knee and foot as Kabuki slowly approaches him.
"Come on! At least try to make this a challenge for me!" Kabuki said, and Hibiki looked up at him.
'He's strong…He definitely lives up to the stories…But how can I beat him?' Hibiki thought as knows that none of his moves may not work on him, but that's when an idea in mind for a certain move that he hadn't mastered yet. 'But…can I do it?'
"Hitoshi! Watch out!" Todoroki calls out.
Hibiki then saw Kabuki swinging his sword down at him, which he dodged by rolling on the ground as Kabuki's sword smashed into the ground.
As Hibiki stops rolling, he and Kabuki soon turn at each other.
"What's wrong?! Don't tell me that's all you've got!" Kabuki said.
"No choice…Gotta have to risk it!" Hibiki said as he stood up.
"Now what are you up to?" Kabuki said.
Hibiki then slowly roars as he channels red flames around his body, and with a swing of his arms Hibiki pushes them away and his arms are now mostly colored red.
Hibiki's friends were surprised to see that the color of his arms had changed.
"What the heck?" Yang said.
"His arms?" Blake said.
Hibiki then holsters one of his Rekka and holds his other one with both of his hands.
"Kiboujutsu Rekkaken!" Hibiki shouted as he created a flaming sword with his Rekka, and Kabuki chuckled to see that.
"Interesting. Let's see what that can do!" Kabuki said before he and Hibiki charged at each other.
Soon the two Oni Riders clash their swords several times before they brought them to a bladed lock, and then Hibiki was able to push Kabuki's sword back and lands a fire enhance punch right into his face sending Kabuki rolling on the ground before he lands and skids on his hands and knees.
When Kabuki looks up at Hibiki, he soon saw that Hibiki channels the flames around his sword make it longer before he swung it at him, Kabuki blocks it in time, but Hibiki was able to slightly push him back as Kabuki stood his ground against it, Kabuki grits his teeth and manages to push Hibiki's fire sword back.
But then, Kabuki saw Hibiki charging at him as he roared and pulled out his other Rekka, he then slams his Rekka in front Kabuki which made energy version of his Ongekiko on the enemy Oni and lands a few more times which created the same drum by each of his attacks which slowly pushed Kabuki back by each of his attacks.
Then by Hibiki's next attack, Kabuki was forced to stumble back.
"Now to finish this!" Hibiki said as he created a fire sword with one of his Rekka and slashes at Kabuki.
But before his attack could hit, Hibiki suddenly stopped and both of his Rekka fall to the ground, then everyone saw Hibiki was stumbling back as he held his arms as he could feel an intense pain around them.
"No…Not now!" Hibiki groaned before he screamed in pain and fell on his knees and reverted back into Hitoshi.
Then everyone saw the burn marks around Hitoshi's hands.
"Hitoshi!" Page said in worry.
"What happened to his hands?" Blake said.
Kabuki laughs when he sees that.
"That was a good attempt, but it looks like luck is on my side." Kabuki said as he was ready to approach Hitoshi to finish him.
But then a gunshot appeared in front of his feet, forcing Kabuki to stop walking then moving in front of him was Ruby.
"If you want him, then you'll have to get through me!" Ruby said as she pointed her scythe at Kabuki.
"Same goes with the rest of us!" Said Todoroki as he and the others moved in front of Kabuki, they were ready to fight him and defend Hitoshi.
Kabuki then saw that his small army of Makamou had been defeated and were destroyed. He then turned back to the teens who were in his way.
"Not bad. They were lesser Makamou, but it was impressive that they were able to beat them." Kabuki said.
"If you think that was impressive, then how about we give you the same beating!" Yang said as she punched her hands together.
Kabuki hummed in thought.
"As much as I want to, I think I've seen enough for now." He said before he put away his sword. "I have a better understanding of your strength now, so this was a good learning experience. But make no mistake, you'll be seeing me again soon."
Kabuki then brings out a smoke bomb from his hand and throws it on the ground which creates a thick smoke around his enemies.
Everyone coughed as they fanned the smoke away.
"A smoke? Really?" Weiss said in annoyance while coughing.
"I guess he prefers doing old school things." Todoroki said while coughing.
Then the smoke soon cleared, and everyone saw that Kabuki was now gone.
"Great…He's gone." Todoroki said before he and Ibuki changed back into their human forms.
"And just when we have questions to ask him." Yuki said.
"Hitoshi!" Ruby said before she turned and knelt down to Hitoshi.
She then grabs onto and looks at his hands.
"Man, that looks bad. Are you going to be, okay?" Ruby asked.
"Yeah…I'll be fine. Believe it or not, this is pretty normal…Aaahhh…Still hurts though…" Hitoshi mutters before he looks at the spot where Kabuki had disappeared.
While he wondered how he was able to return, there was no doubt in his mind that Kabuki had indeed returned.
After leaving the area, Kabuki in his human form had contacted his master to give him his report about the Makamou he had given him. He was using his communication device as his master was on a holographic screen.
"I see. So compared to the regular Makamou, the artificial ones prove to be weaker than them."
"Yes, but in groups, they prove to be a strong fighting force in their own rights. I have no doubt they could prove useful." Kabuki said.
His master smiles to hear that.
"Well, that is certainly good to hear that. Also, I'm glad that they prove useful to you, Kabuki. Let me know if you need a new supply soon. In case you need it, of course."
"I will. Thank you, master." Kabuki said before he ended the transmission.
Kabuki then looks at the cut on his jacket which he received in his fight against Hibiki in his incomplete form. Which showed Kabuki that Hibiki is growing stronger now, and Kabuki smiles in excitement at the thought of it.
(Later)
Night had soon arrived in Vale, Team HYPN and RWBY soon returned to their dorm. Both teams were in HYPN's room where Hitoshi was seated on the bed with Page was seated in front of him as she applied ointment and bandages on the burns on Hitoshi's hands and arms.
"There." Page said as she finished applying the bandages. "How's that?"
Hitoshi flicks his hands a few times for any pain, but so far it felt good.
"Much better. Thanks, Page." Hitoshi said, and Page smiled to hear that.
"Well, if that's done, can we get back to the topic at hand." Weiss said, getting the others' attention. "Why did that oni attack you?"
"Yeah, I thought you guys were supposed to be on the same side." Ruby said.
Team HYPN looks at each other before they turn back to Team RWBY.
"Not all of us, I'm afraid." Hitoshi said.
"What do you mean?" Blake asked.
"Well, that's a bit of a long story." Nagisa said as he rubbed the back of his head.
"Don't worry. I'll explain it to them." Yuki told her teammates before she turned back to Team RWBY and explained things to them. "Many years ago in the past, due to our monstrous strength and appearance, the oni were often shunned and persecuted by humanity despite our duty to protect them."
The members of Team RWBY were shocked to hear that.
"No way…really?" Ruby said.
"That's horrible." Blake said.
"It is, but it did get better over time." Nagisa said, and Blake lowered her head and placed a hand on her arm.
"Right…" She mutters.
Yuki coughs in her hand.
"Anyway, if I may continue." Yuki said before she explained the rest of the story. "Despite the treatment the oni had received, we still carry on and continue our duty to protect the world from both Makamou and Grimm alike. But one of these oni had grown tired of humanity's prejudice, and his name was Kabuki. Now filled with hatred, Kabuki had betrayed his fellow oni and joined forces with the Makamou with the intent of wiping humanity from the face of the world. But his former comrades manage to stop him, and the one who defeated him was the oni known as Hibiki."
"Man…That was deep." Yang said.
"Yeah. It gets me everytime too." Nagisa nodded.
"But the one thing I don't understand is how did Kabuki return? No, I think the better question is, how is he still alive." Yuki said.
"What do you mean?" Blake asked.
"Well, the story of Kabuki's betrayal happened over thousands of years ago. Even if he was an oni, he was still human, it would be impossible for him to still be alive today." Yuki explained.
"Yeah. That is weird." Hitoshi said.
This left Team HYPN on deep thought about the Oni, Kabuki's return and how he's still alive. Then everyone notice how late it was.
"Anyway, it's getting late. How about we figure all this out tomorrow?" Nagisa said, and the others nodded in agreement.
"Yeah." Hitoshi said before he looked at his bandaged hands. "Some rest would definitely be good."
"Alright. Guess we'll head back to our room now. See you later." Yang said before she and her team left the room.
Ruby was the last one to leave, she was walking in the hallway following her friends.
"Hey, Ruby!"
Ruby stops and turns around. She saw that Hitoshi had left her room and was approaching her.
"Oh, Hitoshi, what's up?" Ruby asked. Hitoshi rubs the back of his head.
"Well…I'm sorry that our date didn't go so well." Hitoshi said.
Ruby blushes before she waved her hands.
"What?! What makes you think that we went out on a date?!" Ruby asked, and Hitoshi blinked.
"Isn't a date where a guy and a girl go out and have fun?" Hitoshi asked.
"Oh…right…" Ruby said.
"Also…I'm sorry if I acted a bit out of line. Truth be told I was a little nervous." Hitoshi told her, and Ruby waved her hands.
"What? No, you weren't…Wait, you were nervous?" Ruby asked.
"Yeah…Despite hanging out with Yuki and Page, I don't have much experience when it comes to girls my own age. So I was a bit nervous going out with you." Hitoshi said.
"Really? You didn't seem nervous though." Ruby said.
"Well, I was trained to keep my emotions in check, but there may have been some times when I was a bit out of line though." Hitoshi said while scratching his finger on his cheek.
"I see…" Ruby mutters as she rubs her hand on her arm. "Well…If it means anything, I was nervous myself."
Hitoshi blinks before he looks at her in shock.
"Really?" Hitoshi asked, and Ruby nodded.
"Yeah. I don't really have that much experience with guys my own age. So I guess, we were pretty much on the same boat." Ruby said, and Hitoshi chuckled to hear that.
"Yeah, I guess we were." He said before they chuckled together.
Hitoshi then coughs his hand.
"Anyway, despite what happened, I still had fun today." Hitoshi said.
"Yeah, me too." Ruby said. "So…maybe we'll go out again?"
"Sure." Hitoshi nodded. "But…as friends, right?"
"Yeah! Just friends is fine with me!" Ruby said.
"Right. Right." Hitoshi said before he coughed in his hand.
"Anyway…I need to go now. See you tomorrow." Ruby said as she left while waving at Hitoshi.
"See you." Hitoshi waved back at her.
After Ruby was far enough away, Hitoshi sighed as he leaned on the wall and placed a hand on his face.
"Damn…She's a lot cuter than I give her credit for…" Hitoshi said.
Hitoshi then removes his hand and brings out and looks at his Onkaku, he then remembers his battle against Kabuki and how strong he was compared to his own strength and abilities.
Hitoshi slightly tightens his hold around his Onkaku as he has a determined look on his face.
"If that man really is the real Kabuki, then it might be time for me to finally master that form." Hitoshi said.
