A few years later:

It was late when the team came home from a case:

From the moment that Aaron saw Emily in his office, he thought he was dreaming. To him, there seemed to be no way possible that Emily Prentiss was sitting in his office. But the surprise feeling was slowly being overpowered by anger. He felt anger towards her. He was angry that she left him. I mean sure, they weren't together or anything but nonetheless, he had started to have feelings for her and just was gone in the next moment. He wished that he could of said goodbye or tried to convince her to stay but he didn't have that chance. She was gone before he knew it. Emily could see it in his eyes the moment that he walked into his office. She could see that he was surprised and that somehow his demeanor had changed. She wasn't expecting him either but to her it was really good to see him. She had waited upon the day that she saw him again so that she could explain why she left, but when she saw him, it was like her mind went blank and she couldn't think of the words to say.
As shocked as he was, he was quick to say something to her, although he didn't realize the tone of his voice when he finally said something to her.

"So you're the one that I heard you were waiting for me. Please tell me that you haven't been there all night."

"No, I heard you were landing."

"Emily, what is it that you need?" he coldly asked her
"I'm sorry?"
"I haven't seen you in like 10 or so years and all of a sudden you show up at my office, so there must be something that you want or need."
"Look I'm sorry, okay. Ill have to explain more a another time but I was told to come here."
"And why is that?"
" I was looking for another job here in Virginia and I received a call to meet you here for the opening spot on the team."
"Absolutely not."
"And why is that?"
"You can't just show up here and demand me to give you a job Emily, it doesn't work that way. "
"I'm not demanding anything Aaron, I'm just doing of what is asked of me."
"Who asked you to be here?"
"A man named Anderson called me to schedule a meeting with you here, but at the time he didn't give me your name, he just that it would be a meeting with the Unit chief of the team and that was it."
"I will have a conversation with him later but as far as right now, the team is okay where we are now. I'm sorry that you had to come all this way but were not hiring another team member at the moment."
"I will prove to you Aaron that I can do this job. I am more than fully qualified to be on this team. I'm not sure if you have this vendetta against me or not but I will prove to you that I will be a valuable asset to this team"
"I'm not taking anything personal Emily. were just not looking forward into hiring a new person right now. "
"No I'm not leaving until i know why I was called to come down here. I don't take this lightly and I don't appreciate if this is a joke. I belong on this team Aaron and all I'm asking is for a chance to prove that to you. "
Aaron gave her one look and grabbed the phone that was on the desk and dialed a number. She was confused, he hadn't said a word. She just watched him.

"Come to my office please." He finally stated to whoever was on the phone.
Those were the only words that he had spoken before he had hung up the phone. Something was different about him. He was more stern and seemed more strict. In the time that she was in with him, he didn't even smile or anything, I mean sure, there wasn't a time to smile but she knew that he just seemed different from when she saw him last. There was a knock at the door and Aaron got up and walked over to the door, Emily was putting the pieces together in her head, and figured that this had to be Anderson. When Aaron opened the door, he didn't even let the man in, he instead walked out into the hallway leaving Emily alone in his office.
"What can I do for you, sir?"
"Anderson, can you please tell me why there is a woman sitting in my office asking about an opening on the team?"
"I was under the impression that you knew about her Sir, Strauss told me that you knew that you were okay with meeting her."

"No I was not aware, Anderson"

"Sorry Sir, If I would of known. I.."
"It's okay, you didn't know. Thanks. you can go back to work."
"Thanks, again sorry sir." Anderson said leaving and walking down the steps.
Aaron turned around an walked back into his office. He should have known Strauss was up to something. He almost felt stupid, of coarse she would do something like this and of all people to had to be Emily Prentiss. There was no way that she could of known that they had met a time before, no one knew. Aaron sat at his desk and put his hands on his forehead. He knew that he had to say something to her but he was trying to figure everything out himself.
"Emily, I don't know how or why this happened but there has to be a reason for you being here. Nonetheless, Strauss wouldn't have just told anyone to come in and I have to trust that you are more than qualified to be on this team. But like you stated before, prove it. We are a team and we work as a team. Prove to the team that you will be a good asset to us. Briefing starts at 9am. You will meet the team tomorrow morning"
"Thanks Aaron, you will not regret this and that is a promise."
"Oh and Emily. ?"

"Yes?"

"For now, welcome to the team. I will look into this but . "

"I understand. "

"Alright and please go home and get some rest, we have a long day ahead of us."
As Aaron watched Emily leave, he took a deep breathe. Never in a million years did he think that he would see her again let alone see her at his work. Aaron sat down at his desk and looked at the photo on his desk and smiled. He got up out of his chair, grabbed his jacket, and walked towards the door, he knew that he had to get home to his son.

Emily on the other hand, knew that she had to get home. She knew that she probably missed bedtime but at least she was still going home. She almost wished that they had more time to talk, to explain everything, to tell him about her daughter and he might of even told her about the kids he may possibly have.

Her daughter was a surprise, she wasn't looking to become a mom but when she found out that she was pregnant, she was excited. She was excited because she was with someone who truly loved her and she loved him. She was finally going to have a family that she's always wanted and a family she's never had. They were both excited to be able to bring new life into the world and provide that child with a home that they both never had. Natalia's father was a good man. He would of done anything for Natalia or Emily but it didn't end up like the way they had planned. She remembered him being so excited that they were going to have a baby. He was so excited to be a father. He wanted to be more of a father than his own father was or be the father that he never had. But sadly, he never got that chance. He died a few months before Natalia was born. After he passed, Emily felt truly by herself. Natalia was in the world now, but she was taking care of a newborn by herself. This isn't the way it was supposed to be. He was supposed to be here. He was supposed to help her raise Natalia, but none the less, Emily knew what she had to do. She took care of their daughter and she's been there for her ever since then.

When Emily got home, she saw her nanny, Marissa sleeping on the couch. She thought about waking her up and offering her the guest room but she decided not to wake her up. She then walked up the stairs and poked her head into her daughters room. She smiled when she saw the small form sleeping soundly in her bed. She walked into Natalia's bedroom and kissed her on the forehead and then walked out of the room. She walked into her bedroom and stripped off her clothes and got into her pajamas. She brushed her teeth and then climbed into bed. She tried to close her eyes and prepare herself for the next day.

After leaving the office, Aaron drove straight home, he too knew the he missed bedtime but at lease he would see his son in the morning while he was getting ready for school in the morning. When he pulled into his driveway, he noticed that the kitchen light was still on. He got out of the car and opened the front door, he saw Jessica washing the dishes from dinner. Jessica is Jack's aunt and Hailey's sister. She has been a huge help since she died and she's helped a lot with Jack and Aarons work. He is grateful for her. He 's told her that she doesn't have to help then but Jessica always reply's with She's doing it because she wants to not that she feels like she has too.
"Long flight?" She asked while still washing the glass that was in her hand
"Something like that i guess."
"I was just asking, you called and said that you're flight was going to land soon and that was about a hour and a half ago. " She said while putting the glass in the dishwasher.
"Oh yeah sorry about that, when we landed, someone came into my office last minute and I forgot to call and let you know that I would be late. "
"Oh it's okay Aaron. Really. I don't mind helping out. "
"Thanks Jessica, you have no idea how much Jack and I appreciate you being here. "
"Well I love being here. I know my sister would want me here, and plus seeing jack, I see my sister, and you of course through him but he reminds me of here a lot and it helps with the grief."
"I see her in him everyday. I miss her too and then he will do something that reminds me of her and it reminds me that she's always here with him and that she hasn't left. I think it comforts him"
"Well thats a good thing, right?"
"Yeah of coarse. He knows that his mom loves even in her death and I will continue to remind him of how much his mother loved him. "

Jessica smiled at him. "You're a great dad Aaron. Don't forget that. "

"Thanks Jess."

"Jack will be excited to see you in the morning, he's been asking for you all night."

"Ill make him his favorite breakfast in the morning."

"Im sure he'll like that. Okay. Im going to go. Call me of you need anything."

"Thanks Jess. Really I don't know what id do without you."

"Anytime. Aaron. Goodnight ." she said as she grabbed her coat and her purse.

She was heading out the door, Aaron followed her to walk her out and lock the door after she left.

"Goodnight Jess." she smiled at him

And with that, he locked the door behind her and headed to bed.

He couldn't help but think about Emily. In no way that he'd ever imagine that this is how they would meet again. He remembered being so hurt when he found out that she had left and then all of a sudden, years later, she crossed his path again. She was beautiful though, she was even more beautiful than the day that they first met.

He tried to get her out of his head, but everything he thought of always circled back to her.

He closed his eyes and fell into a deep sleep but with her in his mind.
