It's been three days since Emily found out the she was pregnant. JJ has tried to get Emily to talk about it but Emily didn't want to talk about it. She was s tight lipped about it. The rest of the team knew something was up but they didn't want to make her mad than she had already seemed to be. They have been in Alaska the last couple of days and Emily never wanted to be home more than she did right now. They were coming close to closing the case, they had a suspect in mind, but they couldn't just arrest him for nothing.
Derek and Emily were sitting in one of the squad cars, just watching there suspect without him knowing.
"Alright Princess, I know you well enough to know that something is going on. There has to be something in that pretty little head of yours. "
" No, I'm just thinking about Natalia and getting home."
"You? Homesick."
"Once you have a child Derek, you'd want to spend every moment you can with them."
"I get it, but anything else? You seem a little off."
"Nope. Absolutely fine. I just want to get home and cuddle with my kid."
"Prentiss, Are you sure that..." Derek said before he was cut off
"Derek, please. I really don't have anything wrong with me. I probably just as much as anyone else, want to go home. We need to focus and catch this guy so we could go home."
"Alright, topic dropped. " He said
Emily sat there in silence. She hated lying to him but she knew that she wanted to keep this secret a little longer before she started to show and that she had enough time tell the father that she was pregnant. She knew that she had to be careful. She couldn't do what she would normally do. She had a life that she had to think about now and she would do anything to keep that life safe. She's glad that she has JJ to talk about it with but nonetheless, she wished that she didn't have to keep this a secret.
Without saying a word, she had an eye on the unsub and she wouldn't take her eyes off of him.
While she was watching him, she noticed that he was acting off. He started to reach into his backpack, she couldn't see what it was but she slowly got out of the car and started to walk towards him.
"Emily what the hell are you doing?" Derek asked as he saw her get out of the car. She ignored him and continued to do what she had in mind.
"Dammit Emily. " Derek said as he started to follow her.
She watched him as he walked up to this girl and tried to get her attention. Emily knew that the unsub wouldn't do anything outrageous considering they were at a park in the middle of the day.
The woman seemingly rejected him and he didn't take it very well. Emily stopped and kind of hid, and closely watched him.
"Emily what the hell are you thinking." Derek said as he came up to her and grabbed her shoulder
"Sorry Derek. I saw my chance and I took it."
"What has gotten into you Emily. You just left without saying anything to me. What would happen if something happened to you?"
"Derek would you relax. Nothing happened, I'm okay and now thanks to you, i lost eyes on the unsub. " She said as she started walking back to the car.
"What if he had a knife or a gun or something Emily. Come on now." He said as he started to follow her
"Okay Derek. I get it. I messed up okay. I've already apologized. You can stop now." when she got into the car, he tried talking to her again but she stayed silent. She didn't want to speak to him. They were both mad at each other.
When they got back to the station, Emily and Derek went both there separate ways. Emily went into the bathroom and Derek went into the break room where the coffee was.
JJ saw them when they came in and noticed that. Something was off. She headed for the bathroom and see if Emily was okay.
"Hey are you okay?" JJ asked when she saw Emily standing in the bathroom
"Yeah I'm fine, Derek and I just got into a little bit"
"Do you want to talk about it?"
"No I just leaped at the moment and Derek got mad at me"
"Well what did you do?"
"I saw the unsub pull something out of his backpack and I jumped out of the car and kind of chased him."
"Emily!.."
"I know JJ, I know but nothing happened JJ. I was careful, he didn't even see me until Derek came up behind me."
"What happened after that?"
"Derek and I got into an argument and i turned my back on the unsub and when I turned back around, he was gone. "
"Emily I know that you're going to get mad at me but truth is, Derek is right. Do you know how dumb it is to go out there by yourself. What if something happened to you?"
"Great now you sound just like Derek, JJ."
"Well he's right Emily. I know you would never forgive yourself if something happened to you."
"Okay I get it. Yet again I messed up. You guy don't have to keep telling me. Excuse me, I need some air. "
"Emily.. I"
"No JJ it's fine. I know you want what's best for me especially now and I appreciate that but i just need a moment."
Walking out of the bathroom, she walked past Hotch. He knew he well enough that there was something wrong. After sh walked out of the sheriffs office, he noticed that no one was walking with her. He knows that she doesn't need a body guard but he knew that he couldn't leave her alone. He also knew that he needed to have a conversation with her. He wanted to see if she would actually talk to her instead of just snipping at him.
"I'll be back. I'm just going to see if she's okay." Hotch said to Rossi as he started to follow her.
After walking out, she walked across the street and sat on the bench that was facing the opposite direction of the sheriffs office. She knew that someone would eventually come out to her but she was going to take this moment to herself.
"Are you okay?" Hotch said as he came up behind her
"Yeah I'm fine."
"Emily, I've you long enough to know that there is something wrong. You've been off for a few weeks now."
"Aaron, please. "
"No come on Emily. Talk to me. I'm talking as your friend and not your boss. "
"Aaron if I tell you, it's going to change things and I don't know if I'm ready for things to change. I like the way things are now. "
"Emily what are you talking about?"
"Aaron I.."
"No Emily, I'm worried about you, the rest of the team is worried about you. You can tell me and what do you mean that things are going to change?"
"Aaron.. I" She said as she started to cry
"You can tell me Em."
"I'm... I'm pregnant. "
"What?"
"I just found out like three days ago and I'm pinching myself thinking that this is a dream.."
"Emily how is this possible?"
"I think we both know..."
"Emily now is not the time to joke." He said as he stood up from the bench
"Im trying to take this serious Aaron but I'm trying so hard not to cry. I didn't want this to happen as much as you did. But its happened. We can't change things and there is not an option to get rid of it. I will not do it again."
"You lied to me Emily. "
" i did not lie to you! We can try to be careful as possible but sometimes things happen." she said as she stood up
"Emily."
"Aaron, we have so much to deal with right now. All I want to do is get home and cuddle with my child because things are going to change and I want one last moment before i get humongous. So you could be mad at me all you want but this is happening. "
"Emily. You promised me that this wouldn't happen."
"Yeah you've already said that."
"Emily, go home."
"What!"
"Go home, get some rest. Spend some time with your daughter. I can't have you stressing out and we both need to figure this out. I'll tell the team that you weren't feeling well and that you are sick."
"No I'm not going home." Emily said as she stood up and walked towards him
"Yes please, take it easy please. "
"You have no right to tell me to go home,"
"As your boss, yes I do. Please."
"Screw you Aaron." She said as she walked back into the station to grab her things. Everyone was watching through the windows but they weren't able to hear what was being said. When she walked into the station, she grabbed her keys and her purse and headed for the SUV.
"Where are you going?" JJ asked running after her.
"Hotch sent me home."
"What! Why?"
"You ask him." Emily said as she started the car and pulled out of the parking place. When she arrived at the hotel, she grabbed what was left of her things and headed back to the car. As she was driving back to the jet, she was crying. She tried so hard not to, but she couldn't help it anymore. She knew that she needed to let it out.
After a while, she took a deep breath and gathered herself together and called her daughter to tell her that she was on her way home.
Hotch kept replaying the moment in his head and he was stunned. Pregnant... He was going to have another kid. He couldn't even imagine how Emily was feeling. He didn't even give her time to speak. Better yet, he didn't even ask her. He was too stunned in the moment that he momentarily blamed her and didn't even ask her how she was feeling. He felt like an idiot.
He turned around when he heard JJ's voice. He heard her calling out to Emily. He knew that the team would be asking a lot of questions. JJ approached him when he was walking back into the station
"Hotch what the hell. Why did you send her home? We need her here."
"She wasn't feeling very well, and I sent her home."
"You know, don't you?"
"Know what JJ?"
"You know that she's pregnant." She said in hopes that she was correct and Emily did in fact tell him that she was pregnant.
"Yes she did, but thats not why I sent her home."
"Are you sure, she left pretty mad."
"Yes, Im sure JJ." He said as he continued to walk to the office.
JJ shortly followed him. She didn't know exactly what had happened but she knew that it wasn't for the reason that she was told. When the both of them walked in without Emily, they knew something was up.
"What happened to Emily?" Rossi asked
"And Why did she storm out of here?" Reid asked
"This isn't because me, right?" Morgan asked
"Im not sure what happened between the two of you Morgan but I sent Prentiss home, she wasn't feeling very well and I don't think that it would be a good idea for her to be here."
"You sent her home?" Morgan asked
"Yes, now you could be mad at me all you want but we have an unsub to catch and then we call all go home" Hotch said
When Emily arrived at home, yes she was excited to see her daughter but she knew that it would have to wait until morning considering she got in pretty late and she didn't want to wake her up. When she walked into her bedroom, she saw the room the exact way she had left it. In some aspects her life hadn't changed yet and other aspects it has. She felt like it was a mistake in telling Aaron about the pregnancy. She almost regrets telling him. She walked into her bathroom and looked down at the positive pregnancy test that is still sitting on the counter. She threw it in the trash and started the shower.
When she got out of the shower, she looked into the mirror. She turned to the side and place her hand on her stomach.
She smiled but the smile fell off her face pretty quickly. She knew that this was going to be a long journey but well worth it. Even if, Aaron was in it or not. She then grabbed some pajamas, and groaned when she realized that her bed had no sheets on it. She was supposed to wash them but never got the chance too.
3 days later
"Natalia not so much honey. You're gonna make a mess." Emily said as she watched her daughter help her cook dinner.
Emily took the couple of days and just hung out at home and got some stuff done that she didn't have time to do before. She also went to the doctor who 100 percent confirmed that she was pregnant. She was enjoying the moment with her daughter when she heard a knock at the door.
"Hold on. Don't touch anything until i get back, promise."
"Promise Mamma."
"Okay good." Emily said as she walked towards the door
Emily was slightly alarmed, she wasn't expecting anyone. When she got closer to the door, she peeked though the peephole
"JJ! What are you doing here? I wasn't expecting you all for a couple of more days." She said as she opened the door and gave her a hug.
" I wanted to see you and plus Henry wanted to see Natalia. I tried calling you but your phone kept going to voicemail."
"Oh sorry, I was at a doctors appointment today and forgot to turn it back on" she shut the door behind them
"You did?"
"Natalia honey, get cleaned up and show Henry to your room and play. JJ and I are going to have some adult talk."
"Okay! " She said as she hopped off the counter
Emily watched her as she washed her hands and took off her apron and hung it.
"Come on Henry, my mom brought me back something from her last trip and it's so cool. I wanted to show you" she said as she grabbed his hand and led her to her bedroom
"Cool!" Henry exclaimed
"Im going to miss when she's no longer this age." Emily said as she walked over to the couch and sat down. JJ followed her
"true but you'll get to experience it with this next one."
"Yeah, oh here, I thought you might want to see these." Emily said she pulled some pictures out of her purse.
"Awww. So you definitely are pregnant then?"
"Oh 8 weeks or so."
"Wow, So baby is due? When?"
"She predicted around November but since Natalia came early, she thinks I might have this one early as well. Who knows"
"Have you told Natalia yet?"
"No I haven't, Im scared to tell her, I'm not sure how she is going to react, I don't want her to hate me."
"You really think that she's going to hate you?"
"I don't know. I mean she's asked about siblings before but it's just been me and her all of her life and I don't want her to think that i don't love her anymore. "
"I doubt that Emily."
"With a Prentiss, you have no idea."
"Isn't that the truth." JJ said as Emily laughed
"Hey Natalia, and i were starting to make dinner, how about you and Henry stay." She said as she stood up and headed for the kitchen
"I mean I wouldn't want to intrude, we just stopped by to make sure that you were okay. "
" No not at all. We have more than enough for all of us. "
"Well in that case, Let me call Will and let him know. Im sure that Henry would be excited to stay and have dinner,"
While they were sitting at the table eating dinner, JJ asked Emily a question that has been bothering her.
"Hey why did Hotch send you home during the case, i know it wasn't because you weren't feeing very well. "
"No he was just mad over the fact that I had acted out of instinct and not telling anyone and then i told him about the thing. He was a little more mad at me. He didn't explain why but he just didn't like how i put not only me but my unborn at risk."
"He was acting very strange after you left. "
"Really? Like how?"
"He just.. he was there but then again he wasn't. It was like his mind was somewhere else. He had said something about Jack but I don't think thats true."
"Yeah thats weird. I haven't spoken to him since that day. I just don't want to be stress's out right now. "
"Emily. I want to ask you a question but I don't want you to be offended."
"You can ask me anything JJ." Emily said, sort of scared to what JJ was going to ask her.
"Hotch isn't you know? " JJ made a glance at Emily, with the hopes that she would understand that JJ didn't want to say anything in front of the children.
"No. He's not. This is all very coincidental but no. "
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
JJ nodded and continued eating her dinner. Emily hated lying to best friend. She knew that she should just be honest with her and that JJ could handle the truth but the truth is, Emily didn't want anyone to know. She just wanted to keep the baby's father a secret until they could get all of this figured out. Plus, even if it was just for a second, she didn't want the world revolve around her and the father. She didn't want to be in the center of attention. She just wanted to Emily Prentiss, A BAU agent of the FBI, not Emily Prentiss, the woman who slept with her boss and got pregnant and that she was the reason his career went in the garbage. She wasn't like that and she wasn't about to ruin anyone's career. She loved where she was, she just wished that things turned out differently.
After dinner, JJ and Emily talked some more while the kids played. JJ tried to get Emily to tell her the father was but Emily wouldn't say. She just kept telling her that it was some stranger but a part of her didn't believe her.
"Hey Em. It's getting late, Henry and I got to go. But thank you so much for having us for dinner."
"You're welcome JJ. I'll see you tomorrow."
"Yes, please let me know if you need anything."
"I will, thanks again JJ."
She gave Emily a hug and motioned Henry to follow her.
After they left, Emily put the dishes away that were in the dishwasher and washed the dishes that were in the sink. She then cleaned up the kitchen. She looked up and saw her daughter asleep on the couch. She smiled and walked towards her. She lifted her up and walked her up the stairs.
She laid her down in her bed and leaned down and gave her a kiss on the forehead.
"Goodnight Talia. Sweet dreams. I love you." She tucked her into the bed and slowly walked out the door.
She got ready for bed and shut off the light in the bathroom after she walked out. She climbed into bed and fell into a slumber sleep.
