I always give two chapters when I publish.

BewareTheFandom said he'd give me his soul for this chapter so I'm here to claim it.

Story #2: The Second Best Underwater Kiss

Percy and Annabeth managed to sneak away from camp while the Demeter cabin was solving a problem with their creeping plants. Nobody minded since they were plants and made their cabins and common areas look nice, but Mr. D started complaining about how he was getting bugleweed in his shower. Katie, offended, tried to correct him that he had bugleweed in his fridge and phlox in his shower, but Mr. D wasn't having it. And, frankly, neither was Katie and the rest of the Demeter cabin. If Mr. D wanted to get mad at them for their plants, then he could at least get them right.

So not wanting to get involved in the Demeter cabin's unwanted botany lesson, Percy and Annabeth snuck off to the beach. To their surprise, nobody else was running along the sand or in the water. They guess that the Demeter cabin got to them and made them sit in on their creeping vine lecture.

Percy and Annabeth were lying on the beach near the edge of the water. Not only would the Demeter kids likely not notice them if they were lying flat against the sand but as the tide rolls in, it would hit their sneakers.

"Hey, I learned a new trick," Percy says, nudging Annabeth.

"Show me," Annabeth says, turning over on her side to watch him.

Percy lifts his head a little, watching the tide. When it rolls back in, he opens his hands and raises his hands and above his head. Annabeth rolls onto her stomach, closer to Percy and she watches as the water encircles them, creating a glossy dome. She sees the beach and camp through ripples but Percy is still clear with his sea blue-green eyes glowing a bit more as he smiles.

"This isn't new," Annabeth states.

"I didn't say this was the trick," Percy retorts.

"But you said you would show me a trick and did this," Annabeth opens her palms to refer to their dome, her elbows sinking into the sand.

"This is just -"

Annabeth raises a brow since Percy suddenly cut himself off. His eyes dim a little and he rolls his head back trying to see something outside the dome. Annabeth's band goes to her waist, about to grip her dagger. She's about to ask Percy what he sees since he could probably make something out past the distorted dome in her eyes, but his distraction causes the dome to drop on them.

Annabeth is about to yell and grab her dagger but she's pulled into the water by the tide. It felt like two hands grabbed her by the back of the arms and pulled her into the water. Annabeth feels herself tumbling through the current, rolling around like she's in a washer's spin cycle.

Annabeth wasn't holding Percy's hand and she doesn't know if anything grabbed him too. He controls the water. He'll get them out of whatever this mess is. He had to have noticed something, right? And maybe he made the water grab them to get them out of there.

Annabeth's relieved when the spinning stops. She's dizzy and disoriented, taking a minutely collect herself. Once her vision straightens, she sees that she's in the water but breathing. Thank the gods that Seaweed Brain made an air bubble … and kept her dry too.

"Oh good," Percy says from behind her.

Annabeth turns around and sees his happy grin when he stands next to her.

"I wasn't sure that would work," he continues.

Annabeth pushes him in their air bubble, frowning even more when he laughs. "You planned that? I almost threw up!"

"I thought I saw Katie scouring the perimeter," Percy explains. "I know you like learning about things but as if you'd sit through a presentation on ivy so we had to get out of there. She would've started over if we were to show up now and we'll never hear the end of it from Mr. D."

Her heart stops. "I love you so much."

Annabeth holds his head to pull him in and it was pretty much the second best underwater kiss of all time.
