Authors Note: What's up here's another chapter for the story, and I think there's something I need to clear up. So many people believe that the Demon King will betray Meliodas and take over his body cause that's what he does in Canon. However, at the same time, it was known by almost every demon that Meliodas would become the Next Demon King that it was guaranteed for him. Even his own father was proud of him until he defected, meaning that he would've given him the position as the Demon King because he believed him to be the only one worthy of succeeding him.
This means that had Meliodas not defected from the Demon Clan, he would've been crowned as the new Demon King. Anyway, that's what I wanted to say because the Demon King isn't betraying Meliodas and going to take over his body, sure; you could argue that Meliodas's failure in conquering Britannia would shift his mind, but that's one loss compared to his multiple victories along with the destruction and conquering of another dimension.
That was that, so now we'll be getting into the Chapter. I just needed to explain that cause that's my point of view on it.
Chapter 19-Tears of the Phoenix
(With Azazel)
Gowther had spent the last couple of minutes calming down Azazel as he continued to ask questions about where he was and what had happened, but Gowther chopped his head, getting him to calm down. Granted, of course, Azazel glared at him as he rubbed his head in pain and asked why Gowther had chopped him on the head.
"If I hadn't you could have started hyperventilating, passing out and me having to forcibly wake you up. Besides, surely you have questions that need answers, no?" Gowther asked as Azazel nodded. He first asked where he was, to which Gowther replied that he was in his room healing from battle. More specifically, he was in Kuoh in the base they had set up here with other, smaller bases placed elsewhere within the world.
"I remember a battle, but nothing else. Gowther, tell me what happened while I was passed out." Azazel asked as Gowtehr inwardly smirked. He had set up Azazel's mind so that it seemed like he had amnesia, and when he was told what had happened, he would use his magic to have him remember what happened, and that's precisely what he did.
Gowther fed him lies as he channeled his magic into having Azazel remember the false memories he had planted in his mind. Azazel recalled everything; he saw how he was a spy for the Demon Race until the factions manipulated him into believing that they were his allies. He also saw how he was fighting Zeldris and Meliodas, using a Sacred Gear that he had created to combat them until Zeldris used one of his spells to destroy his weapon.
"I see..please forgive me! I didn't mean to be such a hinderance to you all! There must be a way for me to repent!" Azazel begged as Gowther smirked. The memories that he had rewritten worked perfectly. Gowther would use this chance to the fullest if he could learn anything about their enemy, abilities, magical power, equipment, and anything supporting them.
"I see. If you wish to repent then all I ask is that you tell me anything that could be of use. While I managed to break the spell placed upon you I could not learn anything useful as I would need an explanation." Gowtehr lied once more. He had gone through Azazel's mind in search of information, but Azazel himself had placed a seal within his own mind should he ever be captured, preventing someone like Gowtehr from going through his mind.
Gowther could've broken through the barrier with time, but he figured that it would be easier if he had Azazel explain everything to him to have a better concept of what he was receiving. Azazel complied as he started going through his mind trying to see what would be most beneficial to his comrade other than magical abilities."I got it! The tears of the Phoenix Clan! If there's something that's helpful to us it that." Azazel declared as Gowther was interested in it. He had already read about the Pheonix in mythology. It was an immortal bird of fire, and if the Phoenix Clan were like the bird of mythology, there would be similarities between them.
Azazel proceeded to explain the powers of the Phoenix Tears and their powerful healing properties. Gowther was very interested in Phoenix Tears after hearing how powerful the tears are. Gowther asked if he could make them, to which Azazel replied that it was impossible as they needed a Pure blooded devil from the Phoenix Clan and that they were the ones who knew how to make them.
"I see. Then we shall simply capture one of their members. Tell me, is there a family member of the clan that we can capture?" Gowther asked as Azazel nodded. The best person for capture would be Ravel Phoenix, as she was the youngest of her siblings and would most likely be the easier to capture, although they shouldn't underestimate her as she was still a member of the Phoenix Clan.
"Understood. I shall put together a small team for her capture. In the meantime, I shall assign Fallen Angels to assist you in getting used to your new limbs. Until then, you shall rest until my return, perhaps you won't need the prosthetics if the tears can heal you." Gowther ordered as he explained his plan, and while Azazel wanted to help, he decided that rest would be more beneficial if he wanted to be helpful.
"Got it. While your at it, can you make sure to have some cute girls in nurse costumes?" The one thing Gowther could not change about Azazel was the man's pervertedness. He had genuinely tried to change it, but he couldn't, and whether it was because Azazel was that much of a pervert or his own mind couldn't change that aspect of him, he didn't know and refused to try and understand.
"i shall see what I can do." Gowther replied as he left, and coincidently enough, he saw a female Devil and Fallen Angel and decided that instead of ordering them to do it, he would change their memories slightly so that they were already going to help Azazel just dressed as a Nurse. Gowther didn't see it as a problem; if that's what Azazel wanted, why not give it to him? After all, if he was going to be giving them information, then why not give in to his perverseness.
Besides, what's the worst that could happen? (Telling ya'll right now, there will be a filler chapter at some point because of something I read on Azazel's wiki)

Gowther hadn't taken very long to assemble his team. It was pretty small, if it was too big, they would be noticed, and if it was too small, the mission would take longer than needed. The group was only five people. Himself, two Devils, two Fallen Angels, and one Yokai. He picked them as the devils would know where the Phoenix Clan was, the fallen angels because of their Holy Magic, and the Yokai for the transformation of an animal, making them smaller and harder to notice for easier scouting.
"The goal of this mission is straightforward. We are to capture Ravel Phoenix alive, if possible unharmed as well. If it can not be avoided, then use force, but avoid vital areas. Should you encounter anyone you are to kill them. If you find the vault where they keep the Pheonix tears or something that's used in making it you are to take it." Gowther explained as they all nodded. There were no questions as one of the Devil's created a portal to the Underworld as they all stepped through.
(In the Underworld)
The small group arrived as they all took flight, following the two devils to the Pheonix household. Their flight wasn't a long one, at least compared to the flight Gowther had when tracking down the Indura. The thought had also reminded him, he should probably check on the destruction the Indura has caused in Beijing.
Of course, he would do that after the mission at hand. It didn't take much longer before they all arrived near the Phoenix Household. The group looked to Gowther as he nodded, and they all vanished towards the household as they all snuck in. The Yokai transformed into a small dog and hid underneath furniture whenever a house servant would walk through the halls.
The Devils and Fallen Angels split into two groups. The goal was to find either Ravel or where they keep the Phoenix Tearswhile staying hidden. Gowther disguised himself as a maid allowing him to walk through the mansion with no restrictions freely. He played the part of a maid for a while as he cleaned, folded clothes, all the while keeping an eye out for anything out of place.
"Perhaps I should look elsewhere? Or, perhaps I should see if the others have found anything." Gowther thought to himself as he finished putting towels on a rack. He was going to investigate elsewhere while contacting his subordinate when he overheard something of interest.
"Did you hear? Supposedly, Lady Ravel is considering to try and negotiate with the Ten Commandments." Two maids were gossiping from what they've overheard in the family as Gowther stood behind the corner and listened.
"I heard as well. Personally, I believe trying to negotiate with them is nothing but plain stupidity. They've killed Loki, most of the members in Rias Gremory's peerage, Serafall Levathin, and her sister with a few peerage members as well." They whispered, knowing that if a family member heard them, they'd be killed. Gowther stayed and listened to the information he was receiving. If Ravel Phoenix wished to speak with them, then he'll be the representative for the Ten Commandments.
"Too true. Honestly, I would've joined the commandments if I was a part of the Phoenix family. That reminds me, we need to check on Lady Ravel." The maid told her friend as the other nodded, but before they could leave, Gowther turned the corner. The maids looked shocked and very nervous. Someone had overheard their entire conversation, and even though Gowther looked the part of another house servant, someone had overheard nonetheless.
"That was quite the interesting conversation, if I must say. Talking about the Lady Ravel in such a way, no, talking about the Phoenix Family in such a way." Gowther teased as the maids started shaking. They could only think about the consequences that would befall them should Gowther tell the Lord or Lady of the house of what they've said.
"How long have you been there!?" The black-haired maid demanded as Gowther only chuckled. He explained that he'd been there listening since the beginning as horror-struck across the maids' faces. Before they could do anything, Gowther had them wrapped in a bind of magic as they fell to the floor. They stared in shock as Gowther removed his clothing for his usual attire as he gave them a smirk.
"I thank you for the most helpful information. However, I require more and you two possess it." Gowther explained as he grabbed the two by the back of the collar and dragged them to a secluded room as they struggled to break free but found it useless. They tried to scream for help, but Gowther had silenced them by knocking them out.
"Everyone. I'm going to be acquiring some information. Until I've contacted you again, stay hidden and continue searching for the Phoenix Tears. I believe that I will be the one getting to Ravel." Gowther telepathically told everyone as they all responded with affirmative. Gowther continued dragging the maids until he reached an empty room that he was in personally.
He sat them both up on a chair and restrained them to the chair as he woke them up with his magic. They looked around confused before seeing Gowther as they screamed for help as Gowther remained quiet.
"Nobody will hear you, nor will anybody come to your rescue. This room is soundproof, so scream all you want. There's also an illusion placed outside the door. It's still there, but to everyone else, it's just a part of the wall." Gowther explained as that ceased their screams as the two could only stare at Gowther with a glare. "Now, I would normally take the information from your mind with my magic, but I figured I would try my hand using torture as Melascual suggested." Gowther was speaking to himself, uncaring of the horrid looks on the maids' faces as the commandment stood up and walked over to the one with dark brown hair.
"Now then, let us see how effective this will be. Nightmare Teller." Gowtehr chanted as he placed his hands on the maid with black hair who closed her eyes, expecting pain until she felt none and opened them. She was surprised when she found herself unbound and outside of a house...a house that she remembered. She trembled slightly before walking forward to the doorknob and twisted it slowly before it fully opened.
There she saw a child version of herself being beaten by a woman with red curly hair. She knew who the woman was, and it was someone she had forgotten until now. She had forgotten her name abuser as it had been very long, and she had been long since dead. However, the maid now found herself out of her attire and in place of her child self as she was hit over the head, sending her to the floor.
"You damn brat! I though i told you to clean the house before I got home!" The woman yelled as she kicked her in her ribs, causing the child to cough blood. The woman repeatedly stomped on the child's back, keeping her to the floor as she cried tears and cried out in pain. The woman continued to beat her until she stopped and walked away.
"Your lucky that I'm going out. So, when I return this blood better be cleaned up! Along with whatever else you haven't cleaned!" She yelled once more as she grabbed her keys and walked out the house, slamming the door behind her. She was leaving the child bloody and crying as she staggered her to her feet. However, before she reached her knees, the scene around her had changed.
Unbeknownst to her, Gowther was silently watching the scene in front of him. The maid was crying her eyes out as she screamed in pain from whatever she was feeling at the moment. He didn't care, and he was only interested in seeing if this was worth his time and believed it was. The other maid looked at her friend in horror, wondering what she was going through as she gave Gowther a harsh glare.
"You damn bastard! Just what are you doing to her!?" She demanded as Gowther ignored her. He focused on the maid that he was torturing as he saw her memories while watching only as a spectator. Gowther regretted listening to Melascula as he sighed and canceled his spell as the maid instantly passed out.
"It seems as if this was nothing more than a waste of time. Well, this has been useful nonetheless." Gowther explained to himself as he used his magic and invaded both maids' minds as he not only found where Ravel was, he found the vault to the Phoenix Tears.
"I've located the Ravel and the Phoenix Tears. Two of you shall come with me, while the rest shall gather as many Phoenix Tears as you can. Broadcast." Gowther explained as he used his magic, sending Ravel's location and what they had wanted as the Yokai and a Fallen Angel were going to meet up with Gowther leaving the other three to retrieve the tears.
"Get as many tears as you can. If you are caught, or even hear someone approaching you are to leave immediently." Gowther ordered the team he was speaking to as they replied with an "ok" as Gowther existed the room he was in and headed off to Ravel's room.
(Timeskip)
Ravel Phenex wasn't expecting much from anyone, not even her family. She wasn't expecting them to help her with what she wanted, and that was to speak with someone from the Ten Commandments. Ravel was a beautiful young girl with dark blue eyes. She has long blonde hair tied into twin tails with large, drill-like curls and blue ribbons keeping them in place.
Her outfit was a uniform that consisted of a red button top with a white tie, a red skirt, a purple cape, and a blue pouch on her waist. She was in her room planning how to meet with them, or one of them, when there was a knock on her door. She instantly scowled, believing that it was one of her family members again or one of the maids trying to convince her to change her plans, something that she had no intentions of doing.
"I swear if it's one of the servants I'll burn you alive! And if its one of my family members I'll leave you with third-degree burns!" Ravel yelled, conjuring hellfire in her hand and behind her as she swung her door open only to see a Fallen Angel, a Yokai, and behind them was Gowther.
"I'm sorry to disappoint you but I am not a servant nor am I one of your family members. I am Gowther, the Commandment of Selflessness." Gowther introduced himself with a bow knowing of her status as his subordinates bowed and showed respect to Ravel as her eyes widened. "And From what I've gathered, you wished to speak with the Ten Commandments."
Ravel was shocked as she had no words...so much so that she passed out and landed on the floor. Gowther tilted his head in confusion as he stepped into the room with the Fallen Angel closing the door behind him.
"If she wishes to speak to us then she should be awake." Gowther talked to himself as he used his magic and forcibly woke Ravel up as she looked around in confusion before her eyes rested on Gowther.
"How did you get here!? And why haven't the guards alerted everyone of you presence here!?" Ravel demanded as Gowther explained that they snuck in. He decided that he would explain everything, as he said their original plan was to capture her and use her to obtain the Phoenix Tears when he learned of her wanting to meet with them.
"As such, seeing as you wish to meet with us. I shall act as the representative for all of the Commandments, any decisions made here by me shall be a punishment I shall take should there be any upon my return. Now then, what is it that you wished to talk with us about?" Gowther asked as the Yokai created a table and chairs for them, with tea magically appearing on the table for them. Ravel was very shocked when she saw one of the commandments willingly wanting to have a conversation with her, that and for wanting to kidnap her.
However, while she was internally screaming in delight, something that Gowther knew of with his magic, she was very composed on the outside. She hadn't shown any other reaction other than surprise and shock when she wondered how they got into her home. After calming herself down mentally and was done gathering her thoughts, she spoke.
"As surprising as this is, I welcome you into my home Gowther, Commandment of Selfishness. I'll be honest and say that trying to find a way to contact one of you was more complicated than I had initially thought. But, you are here now so I suppose that hardly matters." Ravel explained drinking the tea she was given and noted that it wasn't laced with anything and found it very delightful.
"Anyway, I wanted to speak with you about your actions. While it sounds foolish of me, I wish for you to stop all of this! This war you have caused has thrown everything, both human and Supernatural worlds into Chaos! Humans are currently hiding in fear of the Demon Race and many countries refuse our help while some try believing that the man upstairs is going to help them when he's dead!" Ravel yelled as Gowther was glad that the room was soundproof. Ravel was obviously talking about God, but because she's a devil, she couldn't say his name. Gowther had noted that she mentioned that their God was dead, much like the Supreme Deity, but he didn't know whether she was alive after the Goddess Race had sealed them away.
"You are indeed correct in saying that your request is foolish. We cannot simply end the war we have started, especially after coming this far. We've killed important figureheads within the Supernatural world, destroyed powerful nations in the Human World that continues as we speak, and we have annihilated armies in both. If we surrender then not only will everything we've done will be for nothing, but we would be made the biggest fools in history, and mockery of us would be told throughout all of time." Gowther explained as Ravel clenched her teeth and her fist. Ravel had expected a flat out refusal, but the information Gowther told her makes sure that if they surrender, they would be a laughing stock, unlike if they were defeated, then they would go down with honor and pride, knowing that it took the whole world, Ultimate-Class Devils and Angels along with armies and Deities to take them down.
"I understand that but for what reason have you started this war? From what I've heard you all come from another dimension, and something happened that led you all here. So if I may ask what happened in your own world that brought you here?" Ravel asked as she knew that getting them to surrender was only wishful thinking, so instead, she would ask him what led them to come into her world.
Gowther thought about her question. He could tell her the truth about how they got here, but then that would mean he'd have to tell her the whole story of what happened in the first place. Or, he could lie while bending the truth. His options were limited, and his magic couldn't help him unless he wanted to show her what happened, but of course, there was only so much that he could show without showing secrets or needing the memories of the other commandments.
"What happened in our world was something that was...unforeseen. And because of that, we spent 3,000 years sealed away until we tried to forcibly break the seal, which had failed and sent us here instead of the location we wanted. However, I can admit that being sent here as opened my mind to new magic and power that wasn't originally in our world. As well as magical items could never exist without people such as yourself, such as Phoenix Tears or Sacred Gears." Gowther explained as Ravel nodded, hiding her shock that they'd had been all sealed away for 3,000 years. The same was said for his subordinate as they couldn't believe that they could lose, and it made them wonder how they lost and who had defeated them.
(With Thought Projection Gowther)
The Thought Projection version of Gowther was walking to the science lab they had. He had multiple people working together. Whether they were devils or humans, he had them learn to work together, or he used his magic. Gowther wasn't above using his magic to have people do what he wanted, unlike the other commandments with a scary outward appearance such as Galand, or having a lousy personality when it came to underlings such as Meliodas, Gowther looked far more human than any of them. Some forgot, but he always reminded them that he was a demon, not a human.
"I was told that we have more than the number of souls needed. Is this true?" Gowther asked as a human nodded almost hypnotically as he was tired. This was one of the humans Gowther used his magic on. The man refused to do work of any kind, so he changed his memories with a snap of his fingers. Afterward, the man helped as if it was his own free will, and every other human scientist knew that messing with Gowther wouldn't be very favorable for them.
"Indeed. We actually have over the number that was required." The scientist explained as Gowther nodded. He examined the chambers that kept the souls in place and bound to earth instead of going to Heaven. The scientist followed Gowther, providing him information such as needing another section to collect more souls. "If I may ask my Lord. For what reason are we collecting these souls? And what are they all for?" The man asked as Gowther stopped walking Gowther wondered if he should tell him. After all, who would tell? His mind was under Gowther's control, and if he decided, he could remotely destroy their minds no matter where they were.
"The reason why we are collecting the souls..." Gowther started as he turned to the scientist and others who were listening. "...is for the destruction of the Supreme Deity and The Demon King." Gowther finished as the people around him stared in at him in either shock or confusion. Many didn't know who they were, whiles others, from the stories they were told, knew of the power the two held.
The Demon King and the Supreme Deity were essentially God and the Devil. However, the power they held was nothing to scoff at as they easily would be a threat within their world should they exist. They stared at Gowther, wondering how they planned on using over 25,000 souls to kill two Gods.
"You see. Meliodas has realized that both the Demon King and the Supreme Deity see us all as pawns to game. We cannot compromise because they are using the excuse that Demons and Angels are sworn enemies and peace can never be achieved. However, if we looked to this world, Devils and Angels had made a peace treaty after years of war." Gowther explained as they all listened. Even for them, what they had heard was almost unbelievable. They knew that the God and Satan of their world weren't as horrible as the ones from Gowther's dimension.
"Even as we speak, the commandments that we all hold is merely a power that belonged to the Demon King, and because of that, the commandments can feed him information." Gowther continued as he placed a horrid expression on all of the scientists' faces in front of him. "However, after his fight with Great Red, he needed to heal. As such, that is what he is currently doing. Having placed Meliodas in charge with Zeldris as his representative, he is effectively cut off from the commandments feeding him information as in his resting state he as cut himself off from any outside sources." Gowther finished as everyone calmed down but was still shocked that they were playing to overthrow their leader.
"How do you plan on using these souls for their death? From what I understand, isn't the Demon King one of the gods in your world? Surely his Spirit is strong enough to resist the power of 25,000 souls that are mere humans." A Fallen Angel asked as people agreed with him.
"True, the total power level of the Demon King is 625,000. 125,000 for his Spirit, 250,000 for his Strength, and another 250,000 for his Magic. And that is with his full power if he didn't split his power to make the Ten Commandments. However, if Meliodas were the Demon King, he would be rivaling his father in power. Possibly even exceeding it." Gowther explained, ignoring the jaws that were on the floor. They couldn't believe that his power level was so high, and Meliodas was possibly even stronger than him.
"Granted, of course, the magical ability he possesses makes him even more of a deadly opponent. Nonetheless, we are gathering these souls because his Spirit is the lowest out of his other two strengths, even though it's very high. You see, what I've learned is that you can weaken one's soul if you attack it directly or manipulate it. Such is the case with Ddraig the Welsh Dragon and the Divine Dividing Dragon, they had their own bodies destroyed when their Souls were sealed away within Sacred Gears." Gowther explained as they all nodded before he turned around and started walking for the door. He was going to wait for his physical body to return with the Pheonix Tears and Ravel in Azzazel's room, assuming he hadn't done anything indecent with the woman he gave him.
(With the Real Gowther)
"...Now, Ravel, I have told you what happened with the Demon Clan in Brittania. And now, I'm going to complete the mission that I've given myself." Gowther finished as he stood up. Before he could do anything, he received a message.
"Lord Gowther! We've been spotted stealing the Pheonix Tears! We've already retreated as you've requested, were just waiting for you sir." A Devil explained as Gowther nodded. He replied that he was wrapping up his own business as the door to Ravel's room was being knocked on. They could all hear people shouting for Ravel's name, having figured out the illusion Gowther had placed with the Fallen Angel and the Yokai getting ready for battle.
"No need. We're done here." Gowther halted them as they nodded, and before Ravel could do something, Gowther knocked her unconscious with his magic. The Fallen Angel had picked her up and put her over her shoulder just as Riser blasted the door to the ground.
"I suggest you put my sister down. Or else I'll make sure that your deaths are extra crispy." Riser threatened as Gowther smirked. He pushed his glasses up as he snapped his fingers with his subordinates vanishing, then he disappeared as well. Riser screamed in rage as hellfire scorched the halls and his sister's room.
Unbeknownst to everyone in the household, Gowther was flying above the mansion as in his hand was his weapon, Herritt. Behind him were all his subordinates as they watched him aim, and they sensed powerful magic being gathered as Gowther drew his hand back.
"Licht Regen." Gowtehr chanted as a rain of magical arrows rained down onto the home of the Phenex Household, killing family members and servants as the house soon crumbled and collapsed. Gowther relaxed, knowing that not even their regenerative abilities could protect them as his spell directly attacks the soul.
"L-Lord Gowther...you've wiped out the entirety of the Phenex Clan." A Devil muttered in disbelief but was loud enough for everyone to hear. Gowther explained that he removed any source of the Pheonix Tears for their enemies, and he had effectively removed a home for Ravel to return to. Although, he was going to alter her memories just like he had done to Azazel.
"Let us return, but first. Just to make sure that our enemies allies are truly dead..." Gowther trailed off and summoned his bow again as lighting started cackling around his arm down to his bow. The lightning arrow grew in size as it stretched across the sky, shocking the people behind him and anyone who was watching.
"...Indura's Arrow." Gowther muttered as he fired. He nodded to the Devil as he opened a portal back to the human world, and just before Gowther stepped through, he saw the arrow hit the ground. It created a giant explosion as lightning danced across the sky and struck the earth, creating enormous craters as Gowther fully stepped through with the portal closing behind him.
Chapter End
Author's Note: End of the Chapter for today, and if you haven't noticed, it was based all around Gowther. Fun fact I saw cursed of Light, and the movie was pretty good, and it helped me think of ways to end the story. Real quick, let me answer a question from a guest, which is...
Why is the seven deadly sin universe more powerful. The dxd universe is more powerful one, heck even great red probably could shatter Reality if he wanted to.
Now, if I went by the light novel for DXD, then yeah, they would be more powerful, with only True Magic Form Meliodas, DK Zeldris, Chaos, and Full Powered Chaos Arthur being the strongest ones to try and compete with them. (Look at Arthur's page on the vs. wiki along with Chaos's to see how powerful they are). Now, idk about Great Red shattering Reality, but he's said to make dreams a reality to its a possibility. But I'm going by anime standards, and while even then they're powerful, they aren't strong as their Light version counterparts or strong enough to overwhelm them completely.
Think of it like this; If you were to put the Demon King at full power with the commandments against a full power, Ddraig, and Albion, the Demon King would win with mid-difficulty. Not including his magical power, The Ruler.
Anyway, that's my reasoning. Also, the power level I gave the Demon King was something I made up because on his wiki, and it doesn't tell me. I made him strong enough so that he's a genuine threat but not enough to where he's completely overpowered.
Anyway, that's the end of this, and I hope you enjoyed the Chapter.
