The school waited with breath to see which statue or statues responded to Irene. About a minute later after Irene stepped onto the gordian knot, the Wampus and Pukwudgie responded followed by the Horned Serpent. Everyone gasped. It was the first triple sorting this year.

Mrs. Allen smiled and said, "Its your choice, dear. Follow your heart."

Lily watched as Irene closed her eyes. Irene took a moment and then said, "Horned Serpent."

Lily clapped along with everyone else as Irene made her way to get her wand. They watched for another hour and a half as the remaining first years were sorted into their houses. The sorting ended with an Asian looking student, Lee Zing going to Wampus.

Lily, Renee, and Julia headed to the dining hall for a quick snack and to see if Irene was there. She was sitting at a table by herself, sipping water. Julia and Lily took a seat on either side of her, and Renee took a seat opposite.

Julia said calling for a roast beef sandwich and soda, "How was your train ride, Irene?"

Irene said, "Lonely. The kids I shared a compartment with didn't include me in their chats. It seemed as soon as I said my name, they decided I wasn't worth knowing, and brushed me off. Also, I think they knew each other."

Renee said, "They'll soon regret that."

The girls finished their mid-afternoon snack and walked with Irene to the girl dormitories. Lily, Julia, and Renee scanned their wands and then Irene scanned hers.

Lily looked at her schedule and read:

Everyone compared building numbers, and found they were all in the same building. Lily looked at who Irene was rooming with and saw that it was with Andrea.

Lily said, "You will love Andrea. She was my roommate for the first two years. She's very friendly and willing to help."

Irene nodded. They all walked to building four and entered with their wands. Lily, Julia, and Renee led Irene to floor 2 to her room. Irene scanned her wand to get in her room door. She went in and invited the three of them in. Irene was gob smacked by the layout of the room. There was a commons area with a couch, loveseat, and a chair surrounding a coffee table.

Andrea came out of her room then and smiled at Lily. She said, "Lily! I so wish we could still room together, but I look forward to being a mentor." Andrea looked at Irene, who shrunk back against Julia. "I don't bite, I assure you. You must be Irene. My name is Andrea Little."

Julia stepped aside to the side table and grabbed the pen from the pen holder and wrote down her room number along with Lily and Renee's. She put it by the phone that sat on the same table. Julia said, "Irene, we need to go and get unpacked." She turned to Andrea and continue, "I put our room numbers by the phone in case you need to get a hold of us for something. We're all in this building."

Andrea said, "That's good to know. I'll make sure she gets settled in okay."

Irene ran to her big sister and wrapped her arms around her waist. Lily excused herself to go down the hall to her room.

In her room, Audrey was already there. Their trunks were in the middle of the commons area.

Audrey said, "I didn't know which room to go to."

Lily said, "I think we just choose. It didn't specify which one on my schedule and there are no letters on the doors either. Let's look and we can decide together."

They looked at both the rooms which had a similar layout. One room overlooked the lake, and the other overlooked the mountains. They met back up in the living room.

Audrey said, "I like the mountain view."

Lily smiled. She said, "I liked the lake view, so it works out."

Lily went into her room and put her schedule on her desk. She knew that Tennis wasn't until the spring, so that worked out. As she began unpacking her trunk, Lily realized how much she needed for her classes. She was glad that she picked up extra notebooks.

Just as she finishing putting her books away and was about to start on making her bed, the room phone rang. Lily wondered who it could be already. Audrey had answered it.

"Lily! Phone! Its Deidra."

Lily smiled. Their friends had texted each other letting them know their building numbers and rooms. Lily went over to the phone and picked it up.

"Hey Deidra, What's up?"

"Not much. Do you know when ya'll are going for supper?"

Lily replied, "Around six I think. We grabbed a snack in the dining hall after the sorting."

"I understand that. How is your schedule turning out?"

They talked for a few more minutes, then promising to meet up in the dining hall for supper. Back in her room, Lily made up her bed. She had found a new comforter set: it had a floral print on the comforter and the sheets were a light blue color. After making up her bed, Lily checked the bedside clock and saw that it was already almost five. She was shocked. It didn't seem like time had passed that much already. Lily then went over to the window and opened it to let some of the fresh Massachusetts air in.

Lily then left her room and went over to see how Audrey was doing. She found Audrey laying on her bed. She had fallen asleep while reading. Lily chuckled and went back to her room and grabbed one of her extra blankets that the school provided and covered Audrey with it.

Back in her room, Lily noticed that she already had a note in her inbox. Lily took the note and saw that it was from Oliver. Lily's heart skipped a beat as she unfolded it.

Lily,

I hope you are all settled into your room. Interesting sorting wasn't it? I saw that the date for the first visit to Ilvermorny village has been posted for September 4th. I look forward to that day. How about hanging with me tomorrow by the lake? If you don't want to I understand.

Oliver

Lily grabbed a piece of paper and responded to Oliver's note saying that she was looking forward to September 4th, and that she probably could spend sometime with him the next day by the lake.

At five to six, Lily and her friends made their way up to the school for supper. The hall was crowded as everyone was busy talking with their fellow classmates. Lily and her friends found Irene sitting with Andrea and her friends. Julia stopped long enough to make sure she was doing okay before they found a table for the six of them. They were soon joined by Timothy and Qiana. They all talked about their summers and how they were excited to start their new classes.

Qiana said, "Lily, you might want to be careful around Monica Robledo. She's already mad about Oliver not paying her any attention and that he is now paying attention to a third year…Well you can imagine."

Lily sighed. First it was Thomas, and now it was Oliver. What was with her attracting boys that other girls were after?

Renee said, "Qiana, don't worry. Lily can hold her own."

Qiana nodded. Her sister, Maria was in Oliver and Monica's year in Thunderbird. She had relayed the information about Monica to her so that she could warn Lily about it.

After eating, Lily and her friends went back to their respective buildings. Brandy and Deidra were in building 3 and had Ms. Evans as their dorm mother. Inside building four, Lily went upstairs and changed into some pajamas. She was tired and planned on reading after the dorm meeting before falling asleep. The meeting was scheduled at 8 just like the year before. Lily had also noted the floor prefects earlier that were posted in the building's commons area. Andrea was still floor prefect for floor 2 along with Nancy Walters. Jasmine was made co-head with Elaine Vinton.

As eight o'clock neared, Lily and Audrey made their way downstairs. Audrey had woken up about 630, and gone and gotten a quick bite to eat.
