The next morning, Lily gathered up her morning books. She normally didn't take a full half hour at lunchtime to eat, so she would come back and get her afternoon books later. Looking at her schedule, she gathered up the books for Charms, Transfiguration, and General Studies literature. She packed one notebook and folder for each class also.

Up at the school, Lily saw Julia and Renee sitting with Irene at one of the tables. Audrey had the 7 o'clock breakfast schedule. Lily walked over to where they were sitting. She ordered breakfast of eggs and hash browns with a side of sausage, and orange juice to drink. After eating, Lily and her friends went out into the courtyard. Julia went back to their building to help Irene get packed for the day.

Everyone pretty much was still waking up, so they just sat and read the first chapters in their first-class books. Lily, Renee, and Julia had the same class schedule. Deidra and Brandy were very similar however, they did join the other's ancient runes class. However, Anthony and Timothy's schedule only resembled each other's as they only took two elective courses.

At 730, the bell rang for the fifteen-minute warning to classes begin. Everyone put their books away and headed into the school. Julia hugged Irene on the first floor as Irene had General Studies first. They headed up to the second floor where their Charms class was. There they met Qiana who smiled at them. The door soon opened, and they took their seats.

Lily took out her notebook, folder, and textbook. At 7:45, the bell rang again. At that moment, Ms. Evans stepped into the classroom with a bright smile. She said, "Welcome everyone to third year Charms. My name is Ms. Charlotte Evans. I've been a Charms mistress for thirty years. This year we will be learning household charms that will help you with everyday chores around the house. Now when I say your name, say here."

After doing roll call, Ms. Evans passed out the syllabus. They went over the rules of the class. Lily had put the syllabus in the folder she had labeled third year charms.

"So, for homework tonight, I want you to read the first two chapters, and practice the wand movements. Also, I would like you to do a short summary of the two chapters, along with the uses of both charms. Tomorrow we will discuss this in class, and then practice the first charm, scourgify."

Lily quickly jotted down the homework in the charms section of her homework planner. She had just finished when the bell rang. Lily, Renee, and Julia were excited about what they were going to learn in charms this year. They headed towards General Studies, but before they could get there, they bumped into Thomas Branton and June Lewis, who apparently were still dating. Lily sighed. June Lewis smiled smugly at Lily.

Thomas said, "Lily, I want to say how sorry I was back during the summer after your first year. Brenda took me to task this past Christmas and talked to me about my behavior towards you. I never got a chance to apologize after that. You see, Brenda got married to Victor this past summer. She would have loved for you to be there, but wasn't sure what was going on, so didn't want any tension at her wedding."

Lily was shocked. She knew that Victor and Brenda were engaged. Brenda had texted her last Christmas and told her that Victor had proposed. She had been happy for her former roommate and hadn't really expected an invitation, after all she had only known the girl for a year. Lily blinked out of her reverie when Renee nudged her to respond. She replied, "I'm glad that you have seen reason, Thomas and I accept your apology."

Thomas smiled and left. June gave her a scathing look before following Thomas.

Renee said, "How much you want to bet that June thinks that you are trying to get her boyfriend?"

Lily said, "No bet, Renee. I could tell that just by seeing her look."

Julia nodded. They headed to General Studies next. They sat down in their usual seats at the front of the class. At the tardy bell, a lovely middle-aged woman came in and smiled at her group of 20 students. She said, "Welcome to third year students. My name is Mrs. Weeks. I'll be your general studies teacher. As I understand it, not everyone will be joining us every day of the week, as they have taken certain electives that make them exempt from that subject. So, I've adjusted our schedule for General Studies. On Mondays we will continue studying literature and writing, on Tuesdays we will have sciences, Wednesdays is government, and on Thursdays we will be studying mathematics. Fridays everyone will still be studying their chosen language course. Here is the syllabus. For those of you who are not going to be in the class on Tuesdays and Thursdays, ignore those parts of the syllabus. If you want, you can take those pages out of the syllabus and hand them back to me on Wednesday. Saves paper you know."

Lily and Julia giggled at most everyone's blank looks. Did they think that paper grew on trees? Renee just shook her head. After General Studies, they took a short bathroom break. They then headed to Transfiguration. There they found out their teacher's name was Mrs. Detling. After transfiguration, Lily, Renee, and Julia headed to the dining hall for lunch time.

After eating lunch, Lily and her friends went to their rooms for their books for Ancient Runes, Potion, Defense and Herbology. Their cauldrons and stuff were still in their lockers from the year before. They just had their ingredients to put in their lockers, which could wait until the next day, since they probably wouldn't be brewing today.

The rest of the afternoon went quickly. Ancient Runes was taught by a middle-aged woman named Mrs. Paulus, in Potions they had a young 30-year-old by the name of Mrs. Vonderhuevel, Defense was a gentleman by the name of Mr. Gooding, and finally, Herbology was taught by Ms. Anderson.

After her last class of the day, Lily split from her friends, whom were going to their study room to get a jumpstart on the homework they had been assigned, and went to her room to change to her work out clothes. Just as she grabbed her broom from her trunk, the room phone rang. Knowing Audrey was still out, Lily grabbed it. She said, "Room 204, this is Lily."

"Oh Lily. Good thing I caught you. Its George Morrison, the Quidditch captain. We won't be having practice this week. I meant to let everyone know yesterday, but I was kind of busy. Just make sure you are ready for next week."

Lily said, "I'm glad you caught me then George. I was just about to head to the pitch."

George said, "Here is my room number in case you need to get a hold of me." And he told her. "Also, since your first reserve, you'll be training with our starter, Gregg. Since he is a return from last year, he knows all of our plays and will be the best to train you."

Lily said, "Thank you, George. I'll see you around."

Lily changed back into her school uniform and headed to the library.

Renee looked up and said, "I thought you had practice?"

Lily said, "Not happening this week apparently. Guess he wants us to take the time to readjust to being in school and our new schedule, which I understand."

Renee nodded her agreement. Lily pulled her Charms book and notebook out of her bag and started reading, making notes on the spells as she worked. She heard her friends talking about what they had learned in defense that day. After a couple of weeks of learning, the teacher was going to teach them how to cast silently also. So, when they were taught a new spell, first they would learn it verbally, and then had to cast it silently. Lily couldn't wait to write home about that! Her father said that they didn't learn silent casting until their sixth year.

After two hours of studying, Lily and her friends packed their bags and headed to the dining hall for supper. Lily was more interested in Ancient Runes than Defense and what they could do with different rune clusters.

The rest of the week went by quickly. They had a teacher by the name of Kellersmith for Alchemy, Fox for Creature Care, Mertz for Arithmancy, Cajanus for Latin, Kiwaulski for History, and Kirkpatrick for Astronomy.
