Sabine's heart was beating out of her chest, her terrified expression hidden under her helmet. After weeks of searching, fighting rogue Dark Siders, and literally travelling to a different karking galaxy, she was going to see Ezra Bridger again. Despite all the efforts from the Imperial Remnant to find him and bring him back into their ranks, the Chiss was had actually been playing them for chumps since he'd joined up. Morgan Elsbeth had found out the hard way when her old associate shot her between the eyes and threw her corpse into a seemingly bottomless pit. Apparently he had just been working with them to gather knowledge he could apply to help his own people fight a poossible war against an extragalactic threat only known as the Grysk. Thrawn was currently escorting Sabine and Ahsoka to his headquarters on some planet called... oh Sabine couldn't remember what the planet was called to save her life, she was just thinking about Ezra.

Do I wanna kiss him or punch him?, she asked herself as they walked across the small encampment that Thrawn's men had set up when they had arrived on this planet with an unmemorable name. At the far end of the circle of tents was one larger than all the others, obviously denoting its status as the place where the man in charge did man-in-charge things. Thrawn held the flap open for Sabine like a gentleman and gestured for her to enter first. Not trusting the Chiss one bit, the Mandalorian kept one hand on her blaster as she walked into the tent. She saw a man with brown hair talking to a taller man who was facing away from Sabine, but when she saw the color of his hair, she didn't need to guess.

"E-Ezra?", she stuttered. The men hadn't heard her come in, so they both stopped talking and the one facing away turned around and Sabine's heart stopped. He was so much taller than when they had last seen each other. His hair was grown out to the length it had been when they met almost fifteen years previously, and he had a barely-kempt beard that reminded her of Kanan. He stepped forward and had to bend his head down slightly to look at her. "Sabine... I-"

Before he could say anything else, her right hand had come up faster than a bolting fathier and thwacked him across the face, leaving a bright red handprint on his cheek. Ezra had taken a lot of hits over the years, so this one shouldn't have hurt much, but the fact that it came from Sabine and had a decade of pent-up emotion behind it somehow made it worse than it should have been. Ahsoka had to step inside the tent and hold Sabine back because she currently seemed intent on murdering the man she had ardently been trying to find for almost two months.

"You karking mudscuffer!!!", the Mandalorian exclaimed as she tried to wrench free of Ahsoka's grip, "How dare you?!? You make me fall in love with you and then you run away for almost ten years?!? And what's worse: you leave me a hologram recording saying you see me as a sister?!?!? I should bury you on this Force-forsaken backwater!!!!", she snarled like a raging beast. Ezra was beside himself as he listened to her outburst, taking a breath as he gave Ahsoka a warm smile, which she returned.

Suddenly, Thrawn stepped into the tent and spoke to his second-in-command. "Eli, might I have a word?" The brown-haired man nodded and swiftly left the tent, making sure to keep a good few feet between him and Sabine. When he was gone, Ahsoka looked between Ezra and Sabine. "I think you two need some alone time... I'll be outside." The Togruta leaned in and whispered to her student. "Calm down."

When Ahsoka left, Ezra decided to try his luck again. He walked over to Sabine and put his hands up in front of her head. "May I?" She knew what he wanted, so she meekly nodded without saying anything. Ezra smiled and grabbed her helmet, slowly lifting it off of her. His heart melted when he saw her beautiful face again, but it broke when he saw the tears streaming down her cheeks.

"Sabine... I... I'm sorry", he said as he moved to wipe her tears away. She grabbed his wrist and held it in place, taking a deep breath and sighing.

"Why?", she asked in a way that made Ezra feel like the galaxy's most wanted criminal being interrogated for a heinous act.

"It... it was my only choice, Sabine... I had to do what was right for my home and for my... my family."

"Not that", she groaned, "Why did you say you see me as a sister?" The Mandalorian had long ago come to terms with the fact that Ezra's choice had not only saved his homeworld, but all of their lives as well. What she was more interested in was the truth about why he had broken her heart. Ezra blushed and rubbed the back of his neck like he had done in that accursed recording.

"Well... I... I didn't want what happened with Hera and Kanan to happen with us... I didn't want to tell you how I really felt and then leave you... I was worried it would devastate you even more."

Sabine scoffed. "Yeah, lotta good that move did you. All it did was make me think you died not caring about me for almost a decade." The daggers she was staring at Ezra pierced right through his heart, and he felt tears stinging at his eyes.

"I... I'm sorry, Sabine... please, if you'll let me, I want to tell you the truth..." She simply gestured with her hands as if to say "I'm listening." The Jedi cleared his throat and dropped down to one knee, which made Sabine jump back in surprise. "Woah woah woah!! You're not about to ask me to marry you, are you? 'Cause we are NOT ready for that."

Ezra realized what he was doing and quickly stood up. "No no no no!!", he said nervously, "I just wasn't sure how I should stand when I say this... I'm not very good at this." His defeated expression hurt Sabine's heart, so she reached out and grabbed his hand and rubbed his scarred cheek. "Hey... Ez... it's me... you can just look at me, can't you?" He locked eyes with her and his pout curved upward into a soft smile. He squeezed her hand and took a deep breath.

"Okay... here goes nothing... Sabine... I know we didn't part ways on the best note before, and I've regretted it every day since... When I left you that message, I was just trying to spare you some heartbreak... but now I'm telling the honest-to-the-Force truth. Sabine Wren, I love you and I've loved you longer than I can remember. That's why I trusted you to not only protect Lothal in my absence, but to come find me. I love you with everything I have in me and I want to go home and start a life with you... if you'll have me."

As she listened, Sabine started crying again, her heart beating out of her chest once again. When Ezra was done, she grabbed the collar of his tunic and kissed him passionately, saying everything she needed to say without words. Ezra wrapped his arms around her body and embraced the love of his life with the strength of a thousand Wookies. Nearly ten years of separation had not only amplified their feelings, but had cemented them. As she made small talk outside the tent with Thrawn, Ahsoka felt a warm feeling and a new bond through the Force, smiling as she put the pieces together.

After separating and catching their breath, the two former Rebels stared into each other's eyes for what seemed like hours. Sabine finally spoke up and chuckled. "Wow... that was... pretty good... for a first kiss." Ezra smirked. "My first kiss or yours?"

"Both", the Mandalorian replied. When Ezra gave her a quizzical "Are you sure?" face, she teasingly smacked his chest. "What, you think I was just going around kissing every man on Lothal?" Ezra grinned and shook his head. "No... I'm glad you waited for me."

"So... can we go home now? I think being in this other galaxy is giving me a migraine", Sabine asked as they continued to hug one another. Ezra kissed her cheek and nodded. "Of course, cyar'ika."

After saying goodbye to Thrawn and wishing him luck in his fight against the Grysk, the new lovers boarded the shuttle with Ahsoka and flew back up to the Eye of Sion. Once Huyang synced up the shuttle's navicomputer with the giant hyperspace ring, Ahsoka started it up and sat back in her pilot chair. "You might wanna hold onto something, Ezra... this isn't gonna be as seamless as it was with the purrgil." Sabine groaned and held Ezra's hand. She had hated this the first time around and was NOT looking forward to doing it again. He squeezed her hand and stroked her cheek. "I'm here for you, love." Sabine smiled at him and rubbed her thumb on his hand. "I don't know if I'll ever not like you calling me that."

Before he could respond, everything went white as they entered the hyperspace between galaxies.

Sabine groaned and rubbed her head as she came back to consciousness. "Ugh... damnit... thank the Force I never have to do that again." Ahsoka was waking up as well, rubbing her sore neck. "You think that's bad? Try being frozen in carbonite." Sabine scoffed and then tapped Ezra's arm. "Hey, sleepyhead. Wake up."

Ezra jolted awake and whined in exasperation. "That was the best sleep I've gotten in years... Why did you have to wake me up?"

"Because we're home, silly... well, back in our own galaxy, anyway", Sabine responded, "Now the question is, what are we gonna do with this thing?"

Ahsoka was already working on the navicomputer again. "I'm leaving a beacon and transmitting the coordinates to the Chiss Ascendancy. That way they'll be able to come pick it up and use it to travel back and forth to aid Thrawn." Good riddance, I say."

The T-6 shuttle flew as far away from the Eye of Sion as possible before sending it into hyperspace.

Three days later, Ezra was looking out at Capital City from his tower's balcony, admiring the beauty of the rebuilt metropolis. It reminded him of the vision he had right after he had learned about his parents' deaths. As he took in the beauty, he heard their voices in his head.

We are so proud of you. His mother.

You've done great things, Ezra. His father.

The Jedi smiled and gasped when he felt a hand on his shoulder. "Hey, you okay?", Sabine asked as she leaned against the railing beside him.

"Yeah... just... starstruck... it's so beautiful..."

Sabine smiled and rested her head on his shoulder. "It's all thanks to you."

"Us", he corrected as he grabbed her hand."

"Yeah... us", Sabine said back as she blushed.

They stared at the city for a while before Ezra turned to Sabine and pulled her into a warm embrace. She laid her head on his chest and he laid his atop hers.

"I love you, Sabine. I always will."

"I love you, too, Ezra."
