The rest of the household slowly woke up on Friday. Lily awoke to her phone beeping a text alert from her father. Lily groaned. She had hoped before yesterday to use today to get some of her Christmas shopping done. She would just have to use the visit to the village at the beginning of December to get most of it done and was sure her father would allow her to get some done when she returned to England for Christmas.

Lily sat on the edge of the bed and looked at her cell phone. She had a missed call and texts from Oliver, and then texts from her mother and father both telling her to call them. Lily frowned. It had to be something serious if her mother and father both were telling her to call them. She hoped nothing was wrong with the baby. Lily decided to call her parents after breakfast. It could wait that long. If it was that important, they would have called.

Lily showered, changed into some jeans and a shirt, and went to the dining room where an elf popped in with her favorite cereal and some orange juice. Lily ate her cereal and then went outside onto the wraparound porch. Lily sat down on the porch swing there and called her mother.

Ginny picked up on the first ring. Lily could tell she had been crying and her heart sank. Something was seriously wrong if it got her mother to cry. Her mother was a strong person, and it took quite a bit to get her to cry and still sound like it when she was talking to someone. Lily said worriedly, "What's wrong, mother?"

Ginny said sniffling, "First off, I'm just saying that the family is fine, and the baby is too." There was a pause in her words before she continued, "I do have some bad news. I had hoped you would call your father first, but since you called me, I will pass it along." Lily held her breath as she heard the words come out of her mother's mouth, "Hagrid was found dead this morning."

Tears started forming in Lily's eyes. She remembered all the time that the Potter family visited Hagrid's hut over the years. Him giving the kids rides on his back, showing them the unicorns, and just being a lovable family friend. She knew that this had to be hard on her father. Lily said, "How is father holding up?"

Ginny said, "As well as can be expected. As you know, Hagrid was your father's first friend in the wizarding world and bought him his first owl, Hedwig."

Lily said, "Is there going to be any kind of service?"
Ginny replied, "Not sure yet. I am sure Minerva would do something to honor Hagrid. I do believe he will be buried on Hogwarts grounds as he continued living there even after retiring after last school year, but I am not sure if you will be able to attend Lily. I know you and James want to know you two, but there is stuff going on here and, in the USA, I cannot talk about."

Lily frowned at this and made a mental note to talk to her father.

Ginny continued, "I must get ready. I have a Quidditch match to cover tonight. I hate that I have to, but my job will not let me have the night off."

Lily sighed. She said, "I love you, mother. Make sure you get plenty of rest."

Ginny said chuckling, "I will, honey. And I love you too."

After getting off the phone with her mother, Lily looked out across the yard of the ranch. She had no clue who all was awake yet. Lily went back inside and looked at her homework planner. She had most of her homework done, however she was not in the mood. She sighed.

Lily called James. James picked up on the first ring. He was with Jasmine and her family. From the noise in the background, it sounded like they were at a mall in her hometown.

James said, "Lils! How is California? You're up early."

Lily said, "I'm actually in Texas with Cousin Allen. Something happened yesterday that I'll tell you about later."

James said, "Okay. So, what's going on that you're calling me?"

Lily said, "You haven't spoken to mother or father today?"

James said, "We've been up and running since the crack of dawn doing shopping. I've snuck away to a Jewelers that is having a sale." Lily choked. She didn't think that James and Jasmine were that serious yet. "Nothing like that, Lily. I just was to get her a nice diamond necklace and earrings. I need both of our father's permission before hand. Also, I want to see what I can get in the way of a career first and get settled into that before even thinking about marriage. I love Jasmine with all my heart, and she had her heart set on attending Salem University."

Lily said, "Okay. Well, I'm just going to say this. That you need to call father. Mother is busy now getting ready to cover a match either this afternoon or evening."

James said, "Okay. When I get a chance, I will call father. I know I did have a text from them both when I got up this morning, but I barely had time to eat a proper breakfast before I pushed to the floo to go shopping."

Lily chuckled. They talked a few more minutes before hanging up. Lily giving James's advice on what kind of jewelry that she had noticed that Jasmine liked. After getting off the phone with James, Lily looked at the messages from Oliver. They were short and sweet wishing her a belated Happy Thanksgiving and that he couldn't wait to see her again. Lily smiled. She texted him that she was in Texas after a small disagreement with the Ruttle family, however she was grounded, and she would explain what happened later. Oliver responded with a sad face and that he would see her at school.

Lily went back into the house and found that Renee and Julia were awake, eating breakfast.

Renee smiled at her and said, "Father had to leave to go into work. Irene and Wanda are still asleep. Mother is out in the stables getting those cleaned. We were waiting for you to decide what to do for the day."

Lily said, "Unfortunately, due to my outburst at Henry's house yesterday, I'm confined to the ranch for the weekend."

Julia said, "That's a bit unfair."

Renee said, "Not really. Julia, you have to remember that Henry's grandfather is a political man. He could ruin father and grandfather's careers and reputations. He has the ear of the President of MACUSA."

Julia said, "Oh."

Renee said, "Yeah. I just hope that there isn't much that comes down from it."

Meanwhile, in Houston, Allen had just sat his briefcase down at his desk when his supervisor poked his head in. He said, "Allen, I want to see you in my office in ten minutes."

Allen said, "May I ask what this is pertaining to, sir?"

Jordan, the supervisor said, "I think you know what this is about, Murphy. Ten minutes."

Allen sighed. He really wasn't looking forward to this meeting. In a way, Jordan Jenkins was of the same mind as Michael's father. Though he does appreciate those that are half-bloods and non-magical born who show considerable talent.

Ten minutes later, Allen knocked on Jordan's office door.
