Chapter 7: The Big Move
A few days later, Heatwave was talking to the Junior Rescue Bots.
"Now, I want you all to promise to keep this a secret from Patch and the other Junior Protectobots until the time is right." Heatwave instructed. "Me and the other senior bots, including Hot Zone and his team, already know."
"You got it, Dad." nodded Hot Shot.
"Good." said Heatwave. "Now, let's head on over to the Ground Bridge and say goodbye to our visitors."
With that, they all went to the Ground Bridge to see Hot Zone and his team off. Chase, Boulder, Blades, Bumblebee, and Quickshadow were already there.
"Well, Hot Zone, it's been fun having you and your Protectobots visit us here at the Academy." said Heatwave as he shook hands with his brother. "It was such a pleasure to meet your son and daughter for the first time."
"Right back at you, brother." said Hot Zone.
"Me, Patch, and all the other Junior Protectobots really had fun getting to know you and your friends, Hot Shot." said Copper.
"Likewise." replied Hot Shot.
"And Wedge, you be sure you leave your comms on, okay?" asked Patch.
"You betcha." winked Wedge.
After all goodbyes were said, Hot Zone and his team walked towards the Ground Bridge while exchanging a wink and a thumbs-up with Heatwave. Soon, the Protectobots arrived back on what was to be their former base back on Earth's moon, and Hot Zone spoke up.
"Alright, Protectobots, let's start packing." he said. "We're moving out."
But while the other Protectobots nodded in compliance, the Junior Rescue Bots were surprised.
"Moving out?" asked Patch. "You mean we're getting a new base?"
"We sure are, Patch." said Rook. "And you'll find out where it is really soon. Now, you better do what your dad says and start packing."
"Yes, sir!" said the Junior Protectobots.
And so, all the Protectobots, Senior and Junior, began packing all of their belongings. As she and her friends were packing their stuff, Patch spoke to her brother.
"Where do you think our new base will be?" she asked.
"I don't know, sis." replied Copper. "But somewhere on Earth would be nice. I mean, it would be nice to be able to be closer to Uncle Heatwave, Aunt Quickshadow, and Cousin Hot Shot."
"Yeah, I agree." nodded Patch. "And Wedge."
"Oh, yeah, and your boyfriend." said Copper smugly.
All Patch could do was giggle in embarassment. Soon, everything was packed up, and both Protectobot teams assembled by their Ground Bridge.
"We're all here, Dad." said Copper.
"Good." replied Hot Zone. "And now that we're all present and accounted for, let's go check out our new home."
With that, Hot Zone activated the Bridge, and once its familiar green aura appeared, he lead his fellow Protectobots through it, and when they came through the other side, the Junior Protectobots were surprised to find they were back on Griffin Rock.
"Hey, what are we doing back here?" asked Reach.
Just then, Heatwave pulled up in vehicle mode. Salvage was behind him. The two robots transformed into robot mode.
"Uncle Heatwave?" Patch puzzled out loud. "What are you doing here? And who's your friend?"
"This is my friend Salvage." Heatwave explained. "He's gonna carry your stuff to your new base."
"That's right." said Salvage before transforming back into his recycling truck vehicle mode. "Alright, load 'er up!"
With that, both groups of Protectobots loaded their things onto Salvage. Then, the other bots present transformed into vehicle mode, and together, Heatwave and Salvage led the convoy all the way to the Griffin Rock Firehouse, where the rest of the Rescue Bots, the Junior Rescue Bots, the Burnses, and the Greenes were waiting.
"Wow." gasped Patch as she and the other Junior Protectobots transformed into robot mode. "What is this place?"
"This, Patch, is the Griffin Rock Firehouse." said Chase. "This is where me, your uncle, Blades, and Boulder originally had as our base of operations."
"That's cool, but what does this have to do with moving bases?" asked Copper.
"Well, Copper, your dad and his team told us that they were thinking of moving to a new base, and Blades suggested you guys move into here." said Heatwave. "After talking it over with Chief Burns here, we decided to go through with it. But, before we go further, why don't you take some time to properly introduce yourselves to the Burnses?"
And that's what both Protectobot teams did. Doc Greene, who recognized the Junior Protectobots from their visit to the MOFTA, also introduced the new bots to his wife, Professor Anna Baranova, and their two daughters, Frankie and CeCe Greene, the former of which was introduced as the best friend of the youngrst Burns sibling, Cody. Once all formal introductions were made, everyone began moving the Protectobots into the Firehouse, which included installing their stasis pods, which were also among the things they brought from their moon base. This took quite some time, but eventually, they got the job done.
"There. That's the last of our stuff." said Hot Zone. "Thanks for your help, everyone."
"No problem, Hot Zone." said Chief Burns. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got a call to make."
Later on, a ceremony was being held at the Firehouse. H.B. Luskey, the mayor of Griffin Rock, was speaking on a small platform.
"Citizens of Griffin Rock, it is with great pleasure that I introduce you to our new Cybertronian neighbors, the Protectobots!" he said. "Let's hear it for them!"
Everyone applauded and cheered for the Protectobots.
"Thank you, thank you." said Hot Zone. "Thank you all. On behalf of myself and my team, I thank you all for allowing us to officially join this little community of yours. And now, I suppose you're all wanting to know our names. I'll let my brother, Heatwave, take care of that. Heatwave?"
Heatwave nodded, and he formally introduced the citizens of Griffin Rock to the Protectbots before handing things back to Mayor Luskey.
"Now that we've all been introduced, I am officially declaring today "Get To Know The Protectobots Day"!" he announced.
This was met by another round of cheers and applause, which in turn was followed by a celebration, with Chief Burns grilling hamburgers and hot dogs for all the humans to eat, and during the celebration, the Protectobots did a demonstration of their combining into Defensor, which certainly wowed everyone, especially the kids. Later on, as the festivities began to die down and everyone else went home, the Junior Protectobots were getting ready to enter their stasis pods for the first time in their new home.
"Boy, am I glad we're gonna be living here now." said Patch. "Now we'll really get to learn more about Earth hands-on than Cousin Hot Shot and his friends have already showed us."
"You said it, sis." agreed Copper. "I can't wait to see what other adventures we'll have with them in the future."
"I think that goes for all of us." said Quench.
Copper and Patch agreed with a laugh. Then, they, along with their fellow junior bots, finally climbed into their stasis pods and were soon off to Dream Land, eager to see what the future held in store for them and their new friends, the Junior Rescue Bots, who in turn were also pleased to have had a golden opportunity to meet another team of Cybertronian rescue workers; the Protectobots.
