He was surrounded by the deepest obscurity: the more he struggled to find something that broke the darkness, the more he felt completely swallowed by it. It was such a suffocating and claustrophobic situation that made him more and more restless, he was feeling like a ticking bomb about to explode. Maybe exploding would have cleared the whole area, showing some light...Maybe. He desperately tried to focus on something positive, funny, that could distract him and help him not to definitely lose his mind, but his life had been anything but easy: his beloved mother's dead, his grandfather's betrayal, a father he had always wished to meet who wanted him dead, the whole wide world hated him for his actions, despite he tried to save it from the evil, the curse he was carrying since he was only a embryo...He was born to suffer, to live in pain and regret, to be a cancer for the society. Kazama was just a surname. Being a Mishima was his curse. But the worst thing was that his bloody life had decided to fool him once again by offering him false hopes to live it normally, only to deprive him of everything. First the only friendship he had, Xiao's, who has always been in love with him: he never shared that feeling, but he did care about her. Then that woman came into his life, that deadly angel that he hired to protect himself, eventually ending up to wish for the opposite.

She, the killer who tried to kill him years prior under Ogre's influence (and ironically he was the one who had saved her); who beat every opponent in each King Of The Iron Fist Tournament she had to face; who managed to gain first his respect, then his complete trust until she became the only one who knew his true intentions and eventually stole his heart. Because, as much as it could have sounded absurd, even Jin Kazama, with thousands of victims on his conscience, had fallen in love. Fallen in love, indeed. The only form of love he had ever known in his whole existence was his mother's, the only person who unconditionally loved him and sacrificed her own life to save him. Jun's heart was pure, gently and unselfish, she had raised him up all alone, teaching him the respect for the nature and the others. How disappointed would she be to see what a monster his beloved son had become? A heartless and cruel human being, thirsty of blood and power, exactly as his grandfather Heihachi and his father Kazuya. Why was he born? How such a gentle soul could have conceived a son with the devil himself?

And another demon was what popped up from their union: denying the fact was completely useless, it was just a matter of time until his true essence revealed for what it actually was. There's no remedy to the absolute evil. Nevertheless that icy heart had met somebody able to melt it. Fun fact, it was an also icy woman who had succeed. He perfectly remembered the moment when he had tracked her down personally to offer her a job as her personal bodyguard: her cold eyes had scanned him from bottom to the top, trying to understand his true intentions. It was the first time in his life that a gaze intimidated him. Almost immediately he realized that he had made the best choice ever, as her professionalism and skills were utterly impressive and also he couldn't help but letting her little by little enter his emotional sphere without even realizing it. She surely was a stunning woman, with a perfect body and an angelic face, but he never really cared about the exterior look: she was more than an assassin, she was the dearest thing he had.

He missed everything of her: her loyalty towards him, her everlasting sincerity, the support she always showed him, the way she stayed with him in the hardest times, the fact that they could understand each other just with one look, their complicity seen by everybody, but understood by no one...And again, all the moments shared together, the evenings spent in his office at work until late night, their motorcycle races to declare who was the fastest, staying side by side in a comfortable silence...And her smiles, their hugs, their kisses at first stolen, then so craved, the nights spent loving each other again and again until they both fell asleep in each other's arms until they woke up in the morning...

"Poor lil'fool..."

A deep and evil voice echoed into obscurity, making him freeze. Everything belonged to the past, but his curse was still his present.

"You're really pathetic, you know? I didn't think you could have softened enough to play the superhero's role to save this stupid world. But hey, you failed...I'm still here!"

Devil's words tore his soul apart. Destroying Azazel had been completely useless, he was still damned and the devil gene was still hungry of power. What did he have to do to stop that agony?

"Shut up!" he shouted weakly.

A wicked laugh followed.

"You hushing me? You should hold your tongue, you filthy little insolent! You do owe me some respect!"

"I DON'T OWE YOU A GODDAMN THING!" he screamed, holding his head between his hands.

"You owe me everything, Jin Kazama! Remember this: as long as I exist, you'll live with me and you'll do what I tell you to do! You'll be eternally cursed!"

Jin sighed hearing those words. His spirit had weakened, Devil was right. If he only had that reason to fight back...

"Don't worry, my slave..." Devil whispered. "Resisting is pointless: the whole wide world hates you. And your beloved Nina has already forgotten you! There's nothing left for you."

A loud beep caught Lee Chaolan's attention, just when he was about to doze off. For days he'd been spending hours and hours to check on Jin's vital functions, who had always remained steady until that moment. He raised his head and watched the computer's screen in front of him: the heartbeat had increased, and also the electroencephalogram notified an improvement of brain activity. He stood up and ran towards the bed where Jin was resting in coma. He noticed that his front and expression weren't relaxed anymore, and his hands were grabbing the sheet into fists. Something was going on in his head, he had to tell Lars immediately! But as quick as it had started, that hint of life faded, and the parameters went back to normal. Lee observed his step-brother's son for a while, before coming back to his desk.

"Keep fighting, boy...You're the only one who can put an end to this..."

Darkness had enveloped everything again and he found himself laying on his belly, his tired eyes watching his closed fist. He didn't even remember falling down, suddenly his knees had given up under the weight of all that sorrow. Devil was right: he had nothing left to fight for, nobody was missing him. Nobody wanted him...Probably she didn't either.

"Oh Nina...Where are you? Please, come rescue me..."

She spent the the days after the Orthodox church massacre barricaded into her house: into the mayhem nobody had noticed her breaking Morozov's neck and now she had the Tekken Force on her trail, since they had seen her marrying their enemy, without obviously knowing that it was fake. Also, that raid had happened into a church and many people had die, so the media fuss that arose was huge. G Corp properly sized the moment to foment more hatred towards Mishima Zaibatsu and arranged several troops to patrol every corner of the city. Needless to say that the counterpart took drastic measures as well, arranging hundreds of troops too and established a strict curfew over the city: anyone caught violating it without a valid reason would have been arrested immediately. The whole situation was out of any control. The fight between Kazuya and Heihachi couldn't get any worse and it wouldn't have taken long before something really terrible happened. G Corp was getting most of the consents from the population, so their opponents were introducing terribly drastic solutions, reducing freedom to zero. If anything, that minx of a sister had taught Kazuya how to use media to his own advantage.

Cherry on top, Morozov murder had unleashed hell in Russia, and was traveling the news that several spies were infiltrating into the country in order to find the killer. To avoid any risk, Mishima Zaibatsu started to inspect local venues and private houses of people who could have been somehow involved and the punishments were really drastic. This meant just one thing: Nina had to leave Japan as soon as possible. She couldn't live between those four walls along with the anxiety to be found and arrested. She was laying on her bed with her laptop on her legs, looking for new places to go and start her life all over again, but...She just wasn't 100% sure. The Land Of Rising Sun had become her home, more than Ireland, her homeland, had ever been. The saying "home is where the heart is" had revealed to be extremely accurate. In Tokyo she had found that person that completely put her life upside down, at the point of making her change her mind on a lot of things. Unfortunately that person wasn't part of her life anymore, she didn't even know if he had awoken, or if he was really dead. The mere thought made her shiver and filled her heart with distress. She closed the laptop with a sigh and decided to go to bed: that was what had recently become the main solution when she felt that way, those thoughts were tyring enough to make her fall asleep in no time.

She was surrounded by hundreds of men, pointing their rifles towards her. At her feet laid the lifeless body of a young black haired man: vain were her attempts to reanimate him, as well as those to protect him; he was gone. And there she stayed, desperately watching over him, while the soldiers kept her under fire. But she didn't care, nothing made sense anymore...She closed her eyes, hugging his beloved one tight and waited for the bullets to make her rejoin him...

She woke up startled and breathless. Another bloody nightmare, even more atrocious than the previous ones: that one hurt so bad! She hid her face between her hands, breathing deeply to calm herself down; she was still feeling the shivers down her spine and she couldn't stop shaking. How long had that shit to last? She decided to get up and drink a glass of water, her throat was so harsh it hurt. She dragged herself tiredly to the kitchen without even raising her feet, trembles hadn't stopped yet and she was feeling weak and vulnerable. Cold water helped her sore throat, but not her restless soul. She had such a strange feeling, she seemed to hear somebody creeping closer, but eventually she blamed her anxiety. But as she went back to her bedroom, she heard those suspicious noises getting louder: she look at the door handle and noticed that it was actually moving.

Somebody was trying to unlock the door. Anyone would have panicked, but she was Nina Williams and even in her weakness she always managed to keep her mind clear enough to plan a strategy to survive. She slipped into her apartment's obscurity towards the locker where she put some of her weapons and quickly took her loyal .22 long, thanks to which she had completed countless tasks and destroyed as many lives. She check if it was loaded and hid herself behind the hallway corner: whoever the intruder was, had managed to break the door lock and now was sneaking into her apartment. But it wasn't alone, in fact two men followed suit. Awesome! She tightened the grip on the gun's stock, taking the safety off with a rapid and smooth movement.

"Are you guys sure this is the apartment?"

"Of course it is, you idiot! I've followed her when she was coming home few days ago!"

Well, well! So she had also been tailed. What the hell was she still doing in that mousetrap of a city?"

"Ok, but is she at home?"

"Dunno...Gotta find her!"

"No need to fatigue!"

The three men didn't even have time to boggle, that they found themselves under fire: Nina had them all in her sight and it wouldn't have taken long to take them out. Even in the obscurity, the assassin's glare scared the hell out of them, those eyes were like two mortal icebergs ready to collide right against you and kill you then and there. How could such a beautiful woman, with such an angelic face being so dangerous and deadly?

"On your knees, hands behind the head and maybe I can take into account the idea not to stick a bullet in your brains in less than a second right here. MOVE!" ordered peremptorily, taking few step forward.

"Please, Miss Williams don't shoot us! We can explain..."

That voice was way too familiar.

"Chomei?' she asked incredulous, reaching for the light switch.

Immediately the light filled the room and Nina recognized the Tekken Force's lieutenant, along with Gaho an Hiroya.

"What the hell are you doing here?" she shouted, lowering the gun, but keeping it tightly in her hands.

Trust is good, not to trust is better.

"We were looking for you, ma'am!" babbled Gaho, lowering his head to show her respect.

"I got it! For what reason? Serving my head to Heihachi on a silver plate?" she replied harshly, resting a hand on her hip as she used to do during her inspections.

"N-n-no, no ma'am! To warn you! To tell you to save yourself! Your relationship with Morozov worsened your position and now you are on..."

"The black list of Mishima Zaibatsu, well, you don't say! For your information I was there to assassinate him, not for marrying him. I have accepted the task from Yakuza and I had to kill him exactly one moment after your incursion."

The three men kept quiet immediately. They did have serious doubts about her ex-supervisor was really marrying a man she didn't even know, but obviously they couldn't raise any objection. Of course they were pleased to know that Nina wasn't willing to join the enemy, but this didn't put her out of danger.

"So...What do you want me to do?" the assassin's cold voice interrupted their thoughts.

"You gotta leave, miss! Run away, far, far away and never come back again!" said Hiroya. "Heihachi is planning a massive attack against Kazuya, soon there will be only a huge pile of ash around here."

"Indeed...And also, Mr. Mishima is pretty restless nowadays, there's such a terrible atmosphere in the air. I'm afraid something horrible is about to happen!" added Gaho.

Nina remained silent for a while, thinking about the words she had just been told. Nothing different from what she already expected. The soldiers were right, it was absolutely stupid to stay in that country for any longer.

"Ma'am, please...Please..Listen to us! You need to go! I know that...Maybe you don't care and..ehm...You don't want to hear this, but..." Chomei hesitated for a while before continuing."...But I'm pretty sure Mr. Kazama wouldn't want you to stay here risking your life. He did really care about you!"

Ok, that was definitely an unexpected outcome that made her think and sadden both. They were right again. Jin would have never, ever wanted her to live in such a nightmare, he would have brought her away from that mayhem because he would have never allowed anything bad to happen to her. She couldn't say a word, she just stood there in silence, her thoughts flowing like a wild river into the impenetrable banks of her head.

"We beg you to listen to us, Miss Williams. Leave! It won't take long until you will be detected, our troops are inspecting every bloody corner of the city, at the moment they are checking the neighbourhood next to yours, they're gonna find you out! Thankfully we have arrived first for pure luck. Run away, start a new life somewhere else, you deserve it! Do this for Mr. Kazama, do this to honour his memory!" and with that being said he interrupted himself to rummage into his pocket.

He stretched his arm towards her, who instinctively opened the palm of her hand. When she saw what Chomei had given her literally froze: five pure diamonds and a thin white gold wire shone between her diaphanous fingers, capturing the light of the lamp and flashing little rainbows on the walls. The purity of that jewel melt her icy heart for a moment. She would have never, ever hoped to get hold of it again.

"We know who gave you that necklace, we were the guards watching over Mr. Kazama the day he had bought it for you. Unfortunately all your belongings have been destroyed, but this object of such a huge value has been confiscated by Heihachi and auctioned. We thought it would have been fair to give it back to the legitimate owner."

This time that hint of a tears rolled down her cheek didn't go unnoticed by the soldiers. Nevertheless it lasted short until she regained control over herself.

"Thank you so much, guys! Thank you because in that hell there's still a glimpse of hope from people like you! That's what Jin wished for: that the good would prevail over the evil, that that damned Mishima blood would stop defiling the world. Thanks from the bottom of my heart and I thank you also from him. He'd be proud of you and so am I."

The three men blushed visibly, but tried their best to stay impassive after her unusual words.

"Thank you too, ma'am, you're honoring and flattering us. Now we need to go, we'll try in any way to mislead the inspections and slow them down for a couple of days, but really Miss Williams, you need to go! As further as possible."

"I'll do that! Take care..."

The men military greeted her before disappearing behind the door.

Nina tightened her beloved necklace to her heart: her legs were shaking so much that they couldn't hold her up anymore, so she let herself fall heavily on her knees, asking herself what she had to do. Never in her life had she felt so helpless...

"Oh Jin...where are you? I need you now, more than ever..."

Author's note: hey there, ladies and gentlemen, it's been quite a while. First thing first, I wanna thank each and everyone of you who left a review on my story, or simply took some time to read it. It pleases me. I know it takes forever for me to update, but unfortunately the time to write for me is quite inexistent, and also I have soooo many ideas for this story, but pretty often I struggle to put them together. I'm still determined to finish it, somehow, someday. Also all these Jina fan fictions popping up lately are improving my will to write and my inspiration as well, so who knows...Let's keep it up with the good work, I'm so glad to read them :D! See you next time!
