Arien, high above the surface of Arda, was the first to notice that something was wrong. There were cracks between the stars, hidden from the naked eyes down below, and even on any of the ships it was sheer chance that she'd noticed them.

There was darkness creeping in, some long ago memory oozing into Eä.

She ought to warn someone, but that would mean abandoning her ship, as even now, only one Maia was ever on duty on them, unlike the recently remade Hope-star ship, which held a full crew of Children.

She couldn't even warn Tillion, as he was also on board of his own ship and could do as little as she without abandoning his post and sending the Moon crashing down a second time.

So instead, she reached down her bond with her Valie, hoping that she could reach from all the way here to wherever it was that Vána's train was moving.

It was a near thing, and probably would not have made the distance from her end if not for the reinforcing effect of the Love-Valie near hers on any and all bonds of love.

Vána had an easier time to reciprocate, accepting her message and assuring her that someone would check.

Which was good, because she did not want to consider what could crack the skies of the Second Singing. Morgoth had pretty firmly killed, but the fact that Mairon had been found in a proverbial dark corner just a few centuries ago meant that not all of his followers had been dealt with.

One of her hands tightened around the slender spear she had on her ship these days. After she'd been forced to simply abandon Anar the first time around, she had insisted on some fighting-skill be instilled in her while she was all alone during her duty.

Three hours later, Tillion reached across their marriage-bond, having spotted a similar thing where he was currently shining Ithil's gentle light upon the world. Clearly, this was a problem, but by this point, even Mellissë's enforcing effect was no longer enough for her to reach her Valie to warn of the apparently increasing presence of cracks.

Tillion reported a similar problem to her, unable to reach Oromë from where he was.

And so they had to just sail on, hoping that they had not become the first witnesses of something very troublesome.
