Chapter 77 Dark
It's been a month since Avatar Sean's little comedy act which to everyone was probably the best stand up they've seen ever. (Personally I really think Jeff Dunham's Christmas special was his second best with the Controlled Chaos being the best)
And since Diana had gotten pregnant. But it was currently unclear if it was Sean's or Korra's since she used that potion Diana first tested on her after she and Sean were done. (Oh the suspense)
Right now though things had taken an interesting turn.
In the last week several law abiding civilians had been causing trouble saying they saw people as demons or some other monsters.
At first most brushed it off but since it kept happening it was clear something was going on.
Right now everyone was at the hall of Justice where the PredAlien's skull was on display on the table they sat at.
"These crimes were committed by regular full law abiding citizens." Sean said.
"Amanda wants these crimes investigated and stopped. She's worried it might send the public into a panic claiming the end of days." Lane said.
"This has nothing to do with the end of the world." Micheal said.
"Doesn't matter. People will believe anything. And all it takes is one idiot to sow the seeds of chaos. We can't afford that." Sean said.
"The one thing we do know according to Fate is that theres some kind of energy surrounding them." Korra said.
"Are you talking about Magic?" Batman asked.
"We have seen things most would dismiss when it comes to magic. Grundy, Circe, And even Gods actually exist. This isn't far fetched. But this is my definitive proof." Sean said showing scans of the brains of each victim.
"This particular part right here has signs it's been manipulated by outside forces. And no signs of anything medical like drugs or mind manipulating machines tools are indicated. Those leave marks to show they were there. Magic on the other hand doesn't in the hands of science since the rules in that are slippery and elusive." Korra said.
"Hmm. Any particular suspects?" Batman asked.
"Faust obviously since he was the only one who escaped when Cadmus was taken down and controlled by my Company since as much as I hated to admit it some of the work seemed promising if in the right hands." Sean said.
"So he could be behind it though." Superman said.
"We need more information before we make any statements." Fate said.
"We'll find out soon enough." Eda said.
"And then we'll stop it." Sean said.
Later
Sean arrived in his penthouse in Gotham while Korra took the boys to see her parents.
"Oh fucking hell." Sean said.
"Hell?"
Sean blinked before turning around seeing a demon girl who smiled at him
She had Red skin with green long hair and bent horns. She also had massive breasts and a bubble butt with a tail that looked like an arrow at the end and talon feet. And she was naked.
This was Seliah Sean's Demon lover. (My OC. Believe it or Not I actually found an exact description of what I was looking for on DA before Halo956 Got banned for being an idiot posting Shit he shouldn't. Look up Naughty-B-Nature on DA and look up Balaah. Only one major difference is she has blue hair their but she's the perfect description of what I pictured her)
"Hello Seliah." Sean said making her smile more. "What brings you to the surface world? Gramps send you on a vacation?" Sean asked.
"Mmm no. I decided I wanted to have some fun of my own. And then I Hear about all the crazy things going on lately." Seliah said.
"Do you have any idea whats going on?" Sean asked.
"No. But ancient Dark Magic is surrounding those who have been infected." Seliah said.
"Go back. Ancient?" Sean asked.
"Very. Like say Medieval days." Seliah said.
"Hmm." Sean said.
"What is it?" Seliah asked.
"I need to see John." Sean said making her grab him.
"Uh uh. You and I are gonna have some fun first." Seliah said.
"Later and I promise I'll take you to the place you love most when it's over." Sean said making her pout.
"Me and my big mouth." Seliah said annoyed as they vanished.
Later
"Why is this house all the way out here?" Seliah asked seeing some house in the woods.
And she was still naked.
"Can't you get dressed?" Sean asked.
"No. I hate clothes. Besides." Seliah said using her own magic to make it look like she was dressed when she wasn't in his eyes wearing a red piece. "This will suffice." Seliah said making him roll his eyes as he walked inside.
"Go away. Bugger off." Constantine said.
"Nice to see you too ya drunk." Sean said making him come down.
"Oh Sorry mate. I thought it was some idiot looking to sell me something. Last place this place landed was in a neighborhood." Constantine said.
"Funny. Anyway I'm not here for some chat. We got a problem." Sean said.
Meanwhile
Batman was heading towards a magic show held be a close friend of his Zatanna.
"How are you Bruce?" Zatanna asked.
"I'm fine Zatanna. Busy. Do you know where I can find John Constantine?" Batman asked.
"No." Zatanna answered quickly.
"You must have an idea." Batman said.
"We dont keep in touch that much. Ask Sean maybe he'll tell you." Zatanna said.
"I tried I cant reach him." Batman said before he stood still making her raise an eyebrow.
"Z, Batman needs to talk to John. You've got to come along, too. It's important." A different male voice said in Batman.
"Is that you, Boston?" Zatanna asked before Batman regained control and the person controlling him flew out.
"What is going on?" Batman asked not amused.
"Uh I'll tell you on the way to John's." Zatanna said sheepishly while glaring at the one known as Deadman.
Meanwhile
"So these people are under the influence of Dark Magic from during the days of Medieval days?" Constantine asked.
"Thats what Seliah said." Sean said.
"Starting to wish I hadn't." Seliah pouted making him snort.
"Theres plenty of Dark Magic that can do that." Constantine said before the house shook making him go to the door seeing Batman and Zatanna get out of the batmobile.
"INSIDE!" Sean yelled as they rushed into before Sean landed on Zatanna.
"Z?" Sean asked.
"Nice to see you too. Now get off." Zatanna said getting him to do so.
"What are you guys doing...You." Sean said annoyed at Deadman.
"Oh come on. You still can't be that Mad I made you miss your date with The sword Demon." Deadman said referring to Karasuba.
Only for Sean to grab him and glared.
"I'll take that as a yes." Deadman said intimidated.
"Whats he saying now?" Batman asked since he can't see or hear him.
"Oh brother." Seliah said casting her own magic to make him appear to him. "Lets just say these two have a bad history." Seliah said knowing from past events.
Later
Constantine looked at the events that transpired before they arrived.
"Eh, I've seen worse." Seliah said looking at her nails.
"Who is she anyway?" Zatanna asked.
"Her name is Seliah. A demon from Hell." Sean said.
"And I happen to be his girlfriend unlike you miss selfish." Seliah said hugging him proudly while sticking out her tongue making her eyes twitch.
"So what do we do about this?" Constantine asked.
"We gotta go to one of the victims and find out whats going on." Sean said.
"Fine. But we do it as a group." Zatanna said making him groan.
"Ugh this is the Goddamn monkey Cage in Sumatra all over again! Oh we need to save the Stupid monkeys she said." Sean said annoyed.
"You are such a jackass." Zatanna said walking up to him.
"Oh no not the monkeys." Deadman said.
"Monkeys?" Seliah asked.
"Says the idiot who is responsible for how Grendel turned out." Zatanna said.
"That is so not my fault!" Sean yelled.
"We're wasting time." Batman said making Sean sigh in annoyance.
"Fine! If we're going to solve this we need to make a stop first." Sean said.
"You mean?" Constantine asked.
"Yup." Sean said.
Later
"Stop being such a child. Where are we going?" Zatanna asked Sean.
"Richie's." Sean said.
"Have either of you talked to him Lately?" Zatanna asked.
"When I have the time since I've been busy. John on the other hand you can guess." Sean said making Constantine roll his eyes before they got to Richie's house only to see Shrouds there. "Oh hell." Sean said.
"Sean Noah Ashburn Kruger, Blood of God and Grandson of the Devil. No matter your friend's soul will be ours." One of the Shrouds said.
"Oh piss off." Sean said.
"Who's he talking to now?" Batman asked.
"Shrouds. They deliver souls to hell." Seliah said having dealt with them before.
The four shrouds surrounded Batman.
"They're Drawn to you." Zatanna said.
"Maybe it's your Cologne, Batsy." Constantine said.
"Yeah right." Sean said.
"This one has cheated us many times. It is vexing." The Shroud said.
"Boo." Batman said scaring them off somewhat making Sean chuckle.
"Yeah their generally attracted to those who've somehow avoided death before." Sean said.
"Well this has been lovely, but its time for you lot to bugger off." Constantine said casting a spell and they vanished just as the door opened.
"I thought I sensed a disturbance in the force. Still surprised thats actually real and not a movie thing." Richie said. "How you doing boys?" Richie asked Sean and Constantine.
Richie led them inside where they saw he was clearly in bad shape.
"Dude." Sean said.
"Yeah I might have lied about how quickly I'm sliding down hill kid. So what brings you guys by? I know this isn't just a social visit." Richie said.
"We just need that coin for a ritual is all. Incidents have been piling up and we need to look into one of the victims memories." Sean said.
"Oh is that all?" Richie said before puling out a box finding some old coin and handed it to him. "Hope you find what your looking for." Richie said as they left.
Later
The group soon went into a hospital into one of the victims rooms.
"How does this work?" Batman asked.
"Think of it as a shortcut without having to go through hours of incantations to get into his memories." Constantine said.
"Alight lets go." Zatanna said.
"Oh hell no your out of practice." Sean said making her glare.
"Look like it or not this will go a lot faster with the three of us since Seliah need to stay out here with Batman." Zatanna said making him sigh.
"Fine." Sean said as they entered his mind.
"They seriously have issues." Seliah said.
"Hmm." Batman said.
The three soon appeared inside the first victim's mind and Zatanna was zoning out before.
"Z!" Sean said next to her making her widen her eyes and shake her head to focus.
"I'm fine." Zatanna said as they looked through the memoirs of the victim when John found one of him as a kid being bullied by others. "I've never liked this sort of magic. I can feel darkness seeping into me. How you guys stand it is beyond me." Zatanna said.
"Being the blood of the old man and the Grandson of the Devil help out. If you ever need a refresher." Sean said.
"We've had this discussion I haven't changed my mind." Zatanna said looking into another memory.
"Sure, sit out the war between good and evil. After all you've got a good thing being applauded by Mindless Civvies." Sean said.
"Really? Now?" Zatanna asked.
"Well, it's an honest waste seeing you do just that." Sean said as Zatanna looked into the memory of the victim's father beating him.
"The Magic I use brings people happiness." Zatanna said
"Are you sure it's not the two drink minimum?" Constantine asked making Sean chuckle.
"You're such a pessimist." Zatanna said.
"Hardly. We just expect the worst so when it happens we're prepared." Sean said.
Looking into another moment they saw the man having an argument with his wife.
"Another precious moment." Constantine said.
"There was joy too. His madness swept it away." Zatanna said sadly making Sean sigh before looking at one memory.
"Here we are." Sean said as they entered the memory when his madness began.
"This is the exact moment when his madness began." Constantine said.
"What do you think will set him off?" Zatanna asked.
"My money is on the crossword puzzle. When Alfred got me into those Korra tried and threw a fit once." Sean said making her smile before the room was engulfed in darkness and a dark figure shoved a dark hand into the victim's head. Sean spotted a ring on the hand and then the whole memory space started to darken. Sean copied the piece and all three exited the victim's body and came to a large monstrous body of literal shit. "Ok that is so fucking disgusting." Sean said before casting a spell to incinerate it to nothing.
"I forget how disgusting humans can be compared to my kind." Seliah said.
"Sure cause eating humans no matter what age, Sex or religion is just fine." Zatanna said making her hiss.
"Knock that off." Sean said.
Later
"I've never seen this before." Constantine said looking at the ring Sean had.
"I figured as much. If theres one person who can tell us who it belongs to though it's Richie." Sean said before seeing more Shrouds outside Richie's house. One Shroud came out of the door.
"Kruger." The Shroud said.
"Ah Shit." Sean said rushing in and destroyed the shroud only for.
"YOU!" Sean yelled in surprise seeing Grendel along with Jason Blood in the room before they bolted. Sean and Constantine went after them while Batman revived Richie.
"Why?" Richie asked having a needle in his chest. (This was my favorite part since it was so funny)
"See your not the only one full of surprises." Constantine said as Sean and He came back with the Grendel and Jason chained up.
"Not everything requires Magic." Batman said.
"Nope." Sean said.
Later
"Is this all your doing?." Sean said glaring at Grendel before taking the Gag off him.
"No. This was not my doing. He was already like that when we arrived. I needed to ask him some questions since to my knowledge...This never happened before and it's interfering with my plans." Grendel said.
"Oh please you both were all over him." Deadman said.
"He was like that when we found him. We tried to help but then Sean busted in and we knew we'd get blamed." Jason said.
"Well?" Seliah asked Sean.
"Blood is a man of honor so I don't think he's lying. Him on the other hand." Sean said looking at Grendel before releasing him. "I'm surprised you know nothing about this." Sean said.
"Indeed. This didn't happen in the original timeline." Grendel said.
"How is it you know everything that happens before it happens and yet you didn't know about this?" Zatanna asked.
"As I said before. I was the first." Grendel said.
"WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN!" Sean roared before Orchid arrived.
"Your Friend awakens from sleep." Orchid said.
Richie had told Constantine that Felix Faust was responsible for this.
"Faust? What does he gain from attacking him?" Sean asked.
"Probably figured out he was responsible and tried to keep him quiet." Constantine said.
"Makes sense. He would take precautions to keep us from tracking him. But there might be someone I know who can help us." Sean said.
"Oh bloody hell mate. Please tell me you don't mean him?" Constantine asked in fear.
"You got a better Idea? Cause I'm all ears." Sean said.
"Hmm?" Grendel asked.
"Oh no." Zatanna said.
"What?" Seliah asked.
Later
"Might I ask why we're in a swamp?" Grendel asked as they walked to some pond.
"Oh you'll see soon enough." Sean said.
"Go...Away!" A voice said as Sean jumped in the middle
"Swamp Thing! I know you can see us. Get out here already. You still owe me for the repairs I did to the swamps." Sean said before the swamp began to change and Swamp Thing appeared.
"Sean. For what reason do you require my aid?" Swamp Thing asked one of his few good trustworthy friends.
"You can get us into places that are hard to find. We need to Find Felix Faust and fast." Sean said.
"Hmmm. Very Well." Swamp Thing said before they were taken to where Faust was at. "I have done as you have asked. Now I must return to protect the green." Swamp Thing said.
"Thank you." Sean said as he left.
"So how do you propose we get in? Knock on the door?" Grendel asked.
"If it were that easy it would have been over by now." Zatanna said.
"Jason, do you mind please?" Sean asked.
"Well at least your asking unlike him." Jason said talking about Constantine who rolled his eyes. "Gone, gone, the form of man." Jason said before.
"Arise the demon Etrigan!" Etrigan yelled taking form.
"I always enjoy this part." Sean said amused.
Later
Pretty much the fight was in their favor but Zatanna had lost control and was about to kill him.
"Z STOP!" Sean yelled stopping her as he stood in front of Faust making her stop. "You're not like me. Killing isn't in your nature. And I'm not gonna see you have blood on your hands. Even if he deserves it." Sean said as she regained control and fell into his arms as she started sobbing. "Easy now." Sean said.
"You see now why I can't do what you do?" Zatanna asked.
"You just lost control. Happens to the best of us." Sean said holding her close making her smile.
"Aww." Seliah said.
"Do not ruin the moment." Zatanna said making her hold her hands up grinning.
Faust growled as Grendel held him in a chokehold as he spoke in Greek.
"Ok that was just rude." Faust said knowing what he said.
"What kind of Magic have you been using on people the last few days?" Sean asked.
"What Magic? I haven't done anything. I don't want anymore trouble after what happened with CADMUS. Those guys were nuts." Faust said making him raise an eyebrow.
"Somehow I think he's telling the truth." Grendel said.
"So do I. Does this look familiar?" Sean asked showing the Ring to him.
"No. But I have hundreds of designs. Maybe..." Faust tried to say before Grendel snapped his neck and took it.
"I've seen this before." Grendel said.
"Where?" Sean asked.
"It was...On display at your friend's house. Come to think of it before you arrived I found some notes of his regarding some item he was looking for." Grendel said.
"What item?" Batman asked.
"The Dreamstone. Story goes it was once posses by a man during the time of Knights. Called himself Destiny." Grendel said.
"I know exactly what he's referring too. It's how Etrigan and I got fused together." Jason said.
"Oh you mean that old thing I got on display back home. It's completely harmless these days. It's cracked. Sure the old bugger may still be inside but no one can get it but me. And with it cracked it's not at full power." Constantine said.
"So we're back to square one." Seliah said annoyed.
"No we're not. Your friend sent us here." Batman said.
"Richie? He's dying from a magic cancer that even Gramps can't heal because how complex it is." Sean said.
"Is he?" Batman asked making him narrow his eyes.
Later
Sean busted the door down to the house seeing Richie by the fire place.
"Sorry kid." Richie said before levitating them up.
"Richie please." Zatanna said.
"Damnit old man knock it off!" Sean yelled.
"Sorry kid. But ever since Johnny got me infected I've been searching for a cure and I finally found one. A small piece of the dream stone. It's sentient. It told me how to get the demons three to bring the rest of it to Earth. It would have been so easy to take it from them but Rock Star Johnny screwed everything sideways. So, we had to frame faust and get you to bring me here. Now I'm immortal and supercharged." Richie said.
"Open your fucking eyes! The stone isn't sentient. Whats left of Destiny's soul has been playing you for a sap since the second you found it. Getting you to commit nightmarish crimes all over the world while innocent blood was spilled." Sean said.
"You just don't want this kind of power around." Richie said.
"Not even close as your about to find out." Sean said as the stone merged into Richie's chest.
"Wait! We had a deal!" Richie yelled before screaming in pain as his body changed and Destiny had appeared.
"Ah free at last!" Destiny said before destroying the house but thankfully Sean created a barrier.
"Ugh. Goddamnit!" Sean said.
"That went well." Grendel said.
Later
Destiny laughed as he destroyed the City before getting smacked by by a tail.
"WHO DARES!" Destiny roared before Godzilla appeared and snarled at him. "Such...Power...I WILL HAVE IT!" Destiny roared making him roar blasting him back with atomic breath.
'Ok this is new.' Titan Sean said.
'Your telling me.' Godzilla said as they fought the insane former scientist.
Sean and the others arrived seeing this.
"How the hell are we supposed to take that thing down?" Seliah asked.
"I got an idea. We're just..." Sean tried to say before Etrigan jumped in.
"Oh hell." Zatanna said as Destiny separated them making them crash down next to them.
"Ok we're gonna need some help." Sean said using his magic.
A part of dead land healed before vines attacked Destiny.
"Who dares strike at me!" Destiny demanded.
"The Defender of the green. Swamp Thing!" Swamp Thing said before attacking him.
"Somehow I don't think he's going to be enough." Constantine said.
"Well I do have another idea. How do you feel about being bait?" Sean asked grinning.
"I see where he's going with this.
Swamp Thing fought against Destiny with everything he had before a fireball hit him making him glare seeing Constantine.
'Wait a second.' Godzilla said.
'Oh boy.' Titan Sean said as Constantine was brought inside his shield before.
"TRICK OR TREAT FREAK!" Deadman yelled going in him making him yell as his shield turned off.
"Excellent strategy." Godzilla said before a sword pushing the stone out of him by Jason.
"Merlin sends his regards." Jason said.
Thats when Godzilla crushed it.
With his spikes glowing he breathed atomic breath making him roar as he was reduced to ash before Richie was seen.
"You." Sean said picking him up by the neck.
"Come on kid I was under a compulsion." Richie said making him glare as his wrist blades came out.
"And I'm under obligation to avenge the people who died because of you." Sean said shoving him down.
"NO WAIT...AHHHHH!" Richie screamed in horror.
Later
Richie's skinned body hung up on top of a clocktower as Sean tied him up before roaring into the air.
"Damn." Zatanna said.
"I honestly hate doing this but in this case it was a fate worse than death. Which he so deserved." Sean said jumping down.
"Wheres the creepy guy?" Seliah said not seeing Grendel.
"Gone. And I doubt we'll be seeing him anytime soon." Sean said.
"So looks like you two finally have your own lives again." Zatana said to Jason and Etrigan.
"Yes but I would call this a good thing bad thing." Jason said before groaning in pain as he collapsed.
"The hell?" Sean said seeing a wound forming blood. "When did he get injured?" Sean asked.
"He didn't. If I had to guess he got that during his fight against Destiny 1,600 years ago." Constantine said as he died.
Later
Sean was in his penthouse with a soda in hand after Jason's funeral.
"Oh don't tell me you're that sad about his death. He's in a better place. Reunited with old friends." Seliah said.
"I know. Still kinda hurts knowing he's gone." Sean said making her smile.
"I know I would be hurt if I didn't have you." Seliah said making him smile as she kissed him. "You know it's funny." Seliah said.
"What is?" Sean asked.
"If it wasn't for you. I would be a cold heartless bitch who shunned humans at every turn. Without the people in our lives today...Who knows where we would end up." Seliah said making him chuckle as she sat on his lap with her tail wrapping around him.
However thats when Sean frowned as he started remembering his encounters from Grendel.
"YOU TOOK EVERYTHING FROM ME!" Grendel roared.
"He was the first." Darkseid said.
"I did try and make others before you but they were failures. Couldn't tell the difference between God and Evil as you. So they were disposed of." His Creator said.
"We are a lot alike." Grendel said.
"Without the people in our lives who knows where we might end up." Seliah said.
"I was the first." Grendel said.
Sean sighed as he closed his eyes.
"What? Whats wrong?" Seliah asked.
"I just figured out who Grendel is...Or more importantly what he is." Sean said.
Later
(insert Savitar reveal theme)
Sean soon appeared in his gear in the street.
Thats when Grendel finally appeared.
"I figured out what you are." Sean said.
"I suspected it wouldn't be long." Grendel said.
"Yeah. All these years I thought I had done something to you in the future. That I made you what you are. But thats not it is it? No. You know everything that happens because you were told what happens when and where. You have all this power that I have. Since we first Met I suspected you trained and made yourself into what you are to fight me because I accidentally did something to you." Sean said before taking off his mask.
"But thats not actually the case. Your the way you are...Because you were supposed to be in my position. You were supposed to be me." Sean said making him growl.
Slowly he took the tubes off his mask before removing it.
Showing his face was exactly the same as his with only one difference. His eyes were blood Red.
"As Darkseid told you long ago...I was the first." Grendel said.
Authors Note: At Last Grendel's identity is revealed. He was supposed to be in Sean's place but couldn't because he was imperfect. And now we know why he despises Sean so much. And things are only going to get more intense. I'm going to be gone for a while now since I'm going to be on a little vacation for Christmas till New Year begins. Read, Review, Fav and Follow.
