The Sovereign Of The Sunrise Kingdom

Chapter 9: Stampede

The next day at the Sunrise Kingdom, the royal twins Crown Prince Simba and Princess Amani as well as their best friends Nala, Tojo, Chumvi, Kula, Malka, and Tama, their cousin Princess Wepesi and her best friend Jabari, and the other male lion cubs and the other lioness cubs of the Sunrise Pride are being educated as cub scouts by Wepesi's parents Princess Zahara and Prince Ushindi, and they are at one of the locations of the Sunrise Kingdom which is the Arusha Hills where Zahara and Ushindi teaches the young lion cubs about the story of King Mohatu when he managed to find some more water supply for the inhabitants of the kingdom many years ago.

During the reign of Mohatu many years ago, a severe drought hit the Sunrise Kingdom when it hasn't rained for a while and many of the inhabitants of the Sunrise Kingdom suffered from thirst, and Mohatu decided to search for a brand new water supply until the usual water supply of the Sunrise Kingdom could be restored while he left his wife and queen consort Queen Yumna to be in charge of the kingdom. He traveled throughout the vast lands of Africa until he arrived at a glorious jungle where a found a vast river which is enough water for his faithful subjects, and he lead each inhabitant of the Sunrise Kingdom to have a drink in the river and they've been all saved from thirst and the usual water supply of the Sunrise Kingdom has been eventually restored after a severe thunderstorm.

Zahara and Ushindi gets finished with telling the story of Queen Uru's father King Mohatu to the royal twins and the other young cub scouts and they even inform them that Mohatu's daughter Uru who was the queen regent of the Sunrise Kingdom has also managed to find a new source of water supply in another glorious jungle when another severe drought hit the kingdom just like her father did just as they show them the sparkling lakes of Arusha Hills as a reminder of how a sovereign would find some more water supply when it would dry up from the drought, and the twins, their friends, and the other lion cubs are amazed by the story while they observe the great beauty of Arusha Hills as well as some flamingos dancing with each other in the water, some black and white colobuses grooming each other, some giraffes eating some of the grass, some zebras frolicking together, some buffaloes spending time with each other, and and some elephants swimming together in one of the lakes in amazement.

Suddenly, just as Zahara and Ushindi continue teaching Simba, Amani, their best friends, and the other cub scouts about sharing the water supply with others which is part of the great Circle Of Life and how the sovereigns of the Sunrise Kingdom would find some more water supply when a drought hits the kingdom, Scar soon arrives at the scene and informs Zahara and Ushindi that he needs to take Simba and Amani for something that is very important with their father Mufasa which they quickly allow him to do and expects him to have them return to the rest of the cub scouts so they could continue to get educated with them. Scar then takes Simba and Amani along with him and begins explaining everything about what their father needs them for.

Scar soon arrives at one of the locations of the Sunrise Kingdom which is a vast gorge known as the Olduvai Gorge along with his young nephew and niece Simba and Amani where he informs them that their father Mufasa has a surprise he would love to give them, much to their sudden excitement just as the twins went on a rock under a tree together, but it's actually a ruse so he could carry out his plot to kill them both and their father so he could steal the throne of the Royal Kopje Of The Shining Sun and become the sovereign with the help of his hyena henchmen who he has promised to allow them to live in the kingdom and have unlimited food supply.

"You two wait here in the Olduvai Gorge," said Scar. "Your father has a marvelous surprise for you two."

"Really? Daddy is giving us a surprise?" asked Amani.

"Yes, and it's filled with such wonder and he's been working on it for a while." said Scar.

"Ooh, what is it?" asked Simba.

"If I told you what it was, it wouldn't be a surprise," said Scar.

"You can tell us what it is, Uncle Scar, and if we knew, we'd still be surprised," said Amani.

"Yeah, you can tell us what the surprise Dad is gonna give us right now," said Simba.

Scar chuckled. "You two are such a naughty boy and a mischievous girl! You're just gonna have to wait!"

Simba frowned. "C'mon, Uncle Scar!"

Amani frowned. "Please! Just tell us!"

"I'm so sorry, but this is just for you and your daddy. You know, a thing for parents and their children." said Scar. "Well, I'm gonna go get him right now for the surprise."

Simba began following Scar. "My sister and I will go with you."

Amani began following Scar as well. "We'll go get our father together."

"NO!" exclaimed Scar. Simba and Amani suddenly became filled with surprise and Scar laughed sheepishly. "No, you can't come along with me and stay on this rock in this gorge."

"Aw, perfect! Just perfect!" exclaimed Amani in annoyance.

"This isn't so much fun at all!" exclaimed Simba in annoyance.

"All you have to do is be obedient just like your father told you, and you don't wanna be disobedient and end up in another mess just like the hyenas." said Scar.

"Wait a minute? You know about that?" asked Amani.

"Simba, Amani, everybody in the Sunrise Pride knows about the whole incident," said Scar.

"Really? Even when the hyenas attempted to eat us and our own friends?" asked Simba

"Oh, yes, and your daddy told us everything, including your mother, your aunt Zahara, and the rest of the family." said Scar. "You're lucky that Daddy was there to save you both and your friends from the hyenas."

Simba nodded his head. "Also, we only went there so I could prove that I could be brave just like our dad, but he told us that being brave doesn't mean searching for danger recklessly."

"For sure, and Simba learned his lesson for going there while trying to show bravery which was the wrong way to do so, and I learned my lesson too while I am already brave myself most of the time."

"Well, I have made some mistakes before, but I am so willing to learn from them no matter what and nobody's perfect." said Simba.

"Everybody has flaws and there's no such thing as perfect anyway, and our dad strongly respects our flaws just like everybody else does in the pride."

"Oh, and Amani made some mistakes in the past and learned from them as well." said Simba just as Amani nodded her head in agreement.

"Of course everybody makes mistakes and has flaws since nobody's perfect, and it's a good idea to respect those things," said Scar. "Your children are strong examples of nobody's perfect, and Simba is very a rambunctious prince who sometimes pulls pranks and Amani is a very headstrong princess who plays rough." Simba and Amani both nodded in agreement. "Also, talking about attempting to be brave during the hyena incident, Simba should work on his little roar of his. Hmm?"

"Well...okay then," said Simba.

"Hey, Uncle Scar. Will Simba and I love the surprise?" asked Amani.

"Simba, Amani, it's to die for!" replied Scar.

Scar then leaves the Olduvai Gorge just as he grins sadistically, and he proceeds to begin his assassination plot against his twin nephew and niece Simba and Amani and their father Mufasa in order to become sovereign, and the twins are unbeknownst to his plan. Above the gorge, a massive herd of wildebeests are migrating together and eating some of the grass, and Scar's hyena henchmen Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed watch the migrating wildebeest herd from the distance under a rocky outcropping. They are preparing to carry out the assassination plot against Mufasa and his son and daughter Simba and Amani under Scar's orders in exchange for allowing them to live in the Sunrise Kingdom for more food supply, and they wait for his signal while Banzai and Ed wanted to eat a wildebeest despite Shenzi's insistence to obey Scar's orders. The hyenas suddenly saw Scar appear on a tall rock in the field and gave them the signal, and they proceeded to do so.

Back in the gorge, Simba is moping about being unable to roar yet while he and Amani wait for the surprise their father Mufasa is planning to give them which Scar has informed them about which is actually a trap set up by him and his hyena henchmen to kill them and Mufasa in order to become sovereign by carrying out a coup d'etat, unbeknownst to them. Suddenly, the twins spot a chameleon nearby and Simba attempts to roar at it in order to practice on roaring while Amani insists that he should at least wait until they become older to be able to make proper roars, and the chameleon doesn't respond at all.

Simba kept trying to roar at the chameleon and Amani kept insisting that they should wait until they're older, and Simba doesn't listen to his twin sister and his roar suddenly echoed off the walls of the gorge which caused the chameleon to run off in surprise, much to Simba's delight and Amani's surprise. Suddenly, the twins heard some rumbling sounds which made them become very confused, and they both noticed the large herd of wildebeests stampeding in the Olduvai Gorge and became very frightened. Simba and Amani began fleeing from the wildebeest stampede while the hyena trio Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed nipped the wildebeest herd until all of them went stampeding into the gorge, and Simba and Amani continue to flee from the stampede. Meanwhile, Mufasa is patrolling the kingdom of any intruders along with Zazu who is on his shoulder, and they noticed some dust in the gorge in the distance.

"Sire, it looks like one of the herds in the kingdom are on the move." said Zazu.

"That's very strange," said Mufasa.

Scar suddenly appeared in the scene. "Mufasa! Quick! There's a stampede of wildebeests in the Olduvai Gorge! Your son and daughter Simba and Amani are down there!"

"Simba! Amani! Oh, my goodness!" said Mufasa just as he became shocked.

Back in the Olduvai Gorge, the royal twins Simba and Amani continue to flee from the wildebeest stampede and they are filled with complete fear. Soon, the twins climbed on a dead tree in the midst of the gorge and began holding on to the tree for safety from the stampede. Mufasa and Scar quickly rush towards the gorge along with Zazu, and Zazu suddenly spots Simba and Amani on the tree and flies up to them while he informs them that their father will come to rescue them. Mufasa and Scar suddenly arrive at the ledge of the gorge and Zazu points to them where Simba and Amani are during the stampede which is on the tree.

"Your son and daughter are on that tree!" exclaimed Zazu.

" Simba, Amani, hold on! I'm coming!" Mufasa called out.

Suddenly, the wildebeest stampede began breaking the dead tree and caused Simba and Amani to lose their grip on the tree, and Mufasa quickly went into the stampede to rescue his son and daughter from the stampede. While he does so, Zazu began panicking about the whole situation which annoyed Scar so much and decided to go back to the Royal Kopje Of The Shining Sun to help Mufasa and his two children with the situation, but the annoyed Scar quickly shoved him to a wall which made him fell unconscious. In the stampede, Mufasa ran across the wildebeests in order to save his children who continued to hold onto the tree and he ended up getting knocked down by some of the wildebeests in the process. Mufasa quickly notices the tree Simba and Amani are beginning to break during the stampede, and then it breaks which sends the twins flying in the air.

Before Simba and Amani could hit the ground, Mufasa quickly jumps up and catches them both on his head and he lands on the ground with his children riding on his head while Scar watches the whole thing from the ledge just as he prepared to carry out his assassination plot against his older brother and his two children so he could become the sovereign. Mufasa attempts to carry Simba and Amani to safety from the stampede, but a wildebeest knocks into him which causes him to drop Simba and Amani from the top of his head. The twins stands in the middle of the stampede in complete fear and Mufasa grabs them and puts them back on his head, and Mufasa carries Simba and Amani on his head throughout the stampede just as a wildebeest fell to the ground and he quickly leaps onto a ledge where he puts them there to safety, and a wildebeest knocks into him and he is pulled back into the stampede, much to the shock of Simba and Amani.

Simba and Amani began desperately searching for their father Mufasa within the wildebeest stampede for a moment, and they suddenly noticed their father quickly leap out of the stampede and leaped on the side of the gorge and began climbing, much to the relief of the twins who began also climbing up the ledge. Suddenly, Mufasa began clinging onto the side and quickly noticed Scar who glared at him, and Scar to help him to escape from the stampede for safety.

"Scar! Brother! Help me!" exclaimed Mufasa. He continued holding on to the side of the gorge and tried not to fall.

Scar just continued to glare at Mufasa and then pierced him with his sharp claws which made him scream in pain just as he smirked sadistically at him. "Long live the sovereign."

Mufasa becomes greatly horrified just as he realizes what Scar is planning to do, and Scar suddenly throws Mufasa back into the stampede just as he screams in terror. Both Simba and Amani become greatly horrified at Mufasa falling into the stampede while they are completely unaware that Scar was the one who threw him so he could kill him just as they both yelled in dismay.

Soon, the wildebeest stampede passes over in the gorge, and the twins went back to the gorge that is now completely covered in dust from the stampede to search for their father to see if he's alright somehow.

They continued searching for him until one more wildebeest went through the area, and it led the twins to their father who was lying under a broken tree. Simba and Amani went towards Mufasa and they noticed that he isn't moving and breathing at all which caused them to become filled with sorrow just as they hoped that he is alright.

"Daddy? Are...Are...Are you okay?" asked Amani.

"Dad? Dad, c'mon, you gotta get up." said Simba just as he shook Mufasa.

"Please, Daddy, we gotta get back home." said Amani just as she rubbed against Mufasa's cheek.

"Please, Dad. Please..." said Simba.

Simba tugged on Mufasa's ear but he didn't respond at all and Amani tugged on Mufasa's tail but he still didn't respond at all, and Simba suddenly runs off and begins calling anybody for help in the gorge, but nobody didn't respond at all in the gorge and Amani informs Simba that there's nobody to help them out with their father since they're the only ones in the gorge, even after the wildebeest stampede has ended. Since Mufasa hasn't responded at all and there's nobody to help him, Simba and Amani realized that their father had died and became deeply devastated over his death just as they began shedding tears.

"Help! Somebody help! Anybody! We need some help! Please, anybody!" Simba called out. "Please...Help..." He begins crying.

"Simba...nobody can't help us with this 'cause there isn't anybody else out here to help us," said Amani. She then begins crying. "And let's just face it, Daddy is...is...is..."

Simba then walked towards Mufasa's corpse and went under his paw just as he continued to cry, and Amani gently nuzzled the dead Mufasa's head just as she continued to cry. The royal twins mourned over their father's death and they honestly couldn't believe what just happened. Suddenly, Scar appeared in the scene and noticed that his nephew and niece had survived from the wildebeest stampede, and upon seeing them mourn the loss of their father, they frame them for their father's death and lie to them that it was all their fault.

"Simba, Amani, what have you two done? You caused your own father's death." said Scar.

Simba gets up from under Mufasa's paw just as he continues shedding tears. "There was wildebeests stampeding...and our dad, he...he was just trying to save us. We didn't mean for it to happen and it was just an accident."

"Of course you two didn't." said Scar. He pulled the tearful Simba and the tearful Amani close to him and embraced them. "Nobody ever really meant for these kinds of things to happen and it's a tragedy when it did happen, and it did happen anyway. But the sovereign is now dead, and if it weren't for you two, he would still be alive. You two are to blame for your own father's death."

Simba and Amani continue to mourn the loss of their father Mufasa just as Scar comforted them, and Simba became very guilty for Mufasa's death and felt very responsible for it just as he wondered if practicing his roar caused the wildebeest stampede in the first place even though Scar was truly responsible for his death. However, while Simba began to feel responsible for Mufasa getting trampled to death by the stampede, Amani refused to believe the fact that she and her twin brother Simba were responsible for his death, and she already knew that they would never do such a thing.

"Wait a minute, Uncle Scar. You're saying that we caused our own father's death? You think we did this?" asked Amani.

"I don't think so, I already know it is, and it's absolutely the truth you two were responsible for it." replied Scar. "If Simba was more careful on practicing on his roar and if you helped him on being more careful, then the stampede would have never happened in the first place. So, it's both your fault that your father is dead."

"But...But...But that can't be true at all! There has to be some other kind of explanation that caused his death!" exclaimed Amani. "Simba and I would never do anything like that to anybody! Not ever! We can't be responsible! We just can't!"

"I'm so sorry, but you and brother are actually responsible and you must accept the truth," said Scar.

"Amani, what Uncle Scar just told us is true, and I guess that our dad getting crushed by the stampede is actually all our fault." said Simba.

"There's no way it's actually our fault, and...and I won't believe it for one minute! No way!" exclaimed Amani.

"Oh, Simba, Amani, what will your mother Sarabi, your aunt Zahara, your uncle Ushindi, your cousin Wepesi, your own friends, and the rest of the Sunrise would think?" asked Scar.

"What are we gonna do?" asked Simba.

"Run. Run away, Simba and Amani, and never return. Go into exile." said Scar.

Simba sadly stared at the dead Mufasa for a moment, and then he flees into exile just as he felt very guilty for causing his death while he was actually innocent and Scar was the one who killed him. Amani also glanced at Mufasa's corpse in sorrow for a moment, and she shook her head in complete disbelief over the fact that she and Simba are responsible for their father's death and know that they would never be responsible for anybody's death and she ran away along with Simba. Scar watched the twins leave in complete satisfaction just as Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed approached him from behind, and he quickly orders his henchmen to kill the twins which they quickly agreed to do just as they began chasing them.

Simba and Amani continued fleeing together and arrived at a dead-end in the gorge, and they suddenly noticed the hyena trio approaching right towards them, much to their complete shock and fear. The twins continued to run away together and went through a crack in the walls just as the hyena trio began pursuing them, and they both ran across the top of the gorge and stopped themselves when they noticed a large thorn patch below. Simba and Amani noticed the hyenas had catched up to them in complete fear and they continued to flee from them just as they went down the ledge together and tumbled down on it, and the hyenas pursued them down the ledge.

Soon, the twins fell into the thorn patch and carefully climbed through it, and Banzai suddenly stopped himself at the ledge upon seeing the thorn patch. However, Shenzi and Ed bumped right into him which caused him to fall right into the thorn patch and gets covered in the thorns while Shenzi and Ed laughed. Banzai climbed back up the ledge in annoyance and Shenzi quickly noticed the royal twins Simba and Amani continued to escape in the distance just as the sun setted over the savannah.

"Hey! They're getting away!" said Shenzi.

"So get those two." said Banzai just as he began pulling the thorns from him.

"There's no way I'm going in those thorns," said Shenzi. "You want me to end up like you? Like a cactus butt?"

Banzai continued pulling the thorns and spit them on Ed's nose. "But we still gotta finish the job."

"Oh, those two cubs would make themselves dead anytime out there in the cruel world anyway." said Shenzi. "But if they come back, we'll kill them."

"Did you hear that?! If you two ever come back, we'll kill ya!" Banzai called out.

The hyena trio then leave the ledge while the twins Simba and Amani continue to flee during the sunset in the distance, and the twins are now exiled from the Sunrise Kingdom after the death of their father Mufasa while Simba is guilty for causing him to get killed by the wildebeest stampede and Amani refuses to believe the fact they were the ones who caused his death since they would never do anything like that.

Later on at nighttime at the Royal Kopje Of The Shining Sun, Scar informs Sarabi, Zahara, Ushindi, Wepesi, Jabari, Simba and Amani's best friends Nala, Tojo, Chumvi, Kula, Malka, and Tama, the other male lions, other lionesses, and the other young lion cubs of the Sunrise Pride as well as the members of the royal advisory council Zazu, Bahati, Elewa, Mwanga, Afua, and Damisi that both Mufasa and his two children Simba and Amani have been killed by the wildebeest stampede while he feigned grief and lied to them about everything, and the entire Sunrise Pride began mourning Mufasa's death and the supposed deaths of Simba and Amani.

"Mufasa's death was such a terrible tragedy, and his son and daughter have also lost their lives in the stampede in the gorge which is also a tragedy," said Scar. "They will be missed and may they rest in peace."

Sarabi shed tears over the loss of her husband Mufasa and her son Simba and her daughter Amani while Zazu, Bahati, and Elewa comforted her, Zahara shed tears over the death of her oldest brother and the supposed deaths of his two children just as Ushindi comforted her along with Mwanga, Afua, and Damisi, Wepesi cried over what just happened just as her best friend Jabari comforted her, and Nala, Tojo, Chumvi, Kula, Malka, and Tama also shed tears over the loss of their best friends Simba and Amani as well as their father and their own parents mourned for them as well just as Nala nuzzled her mother's leg and Tojo held onto his father's leg.

"With a heavy heart, I shall ascend the throne and become the new sovereign of the Sunrise Kingdom." Scar continued.

From right behind Scar, shadows of many hyenas from the Shadow Domain appear at the Royal Kopje, and the members of the Sunrise Pride and the royal advisors become filled with complete shock. The hyenas began invading the Royal Kopje and became the new inhabitants of the Sunrise Kingdom, and Scar proceeds to ascend the throne of the Royal Kopje and become the sovereign through coup d'etat after he managed to assassinate his own brother Mufasa and had his hyena henchmen to kill his young nephew and niece Simba and Amani while he is completely unaware that they're still alive just like everybody else in the Sunrise Pride are unaware of it.

"From the ashes of this tragedy, we shall rise to a brand new era in which lion and hyena come together for a great and glorious future for the whole kingdom and for everybody." Scar continued.

Scar then ascends the peak of the Royal Kopje Of The Shining Sun and becomes the sovereign while the hyenas take over the Royal Kopje, Rafiki watches the whole incomplete sorrow and mourned the loss of Mufasa who has always been very close to him during the reign of his mother Queen Uru and when he used to be the apprentice of Kwashi who used to be the shaman of the Sunrise Kingdom and served Uru and her father King Mohatu when he was the sovereign.

Rafiki soon returns back to his baobab tree and continued to mourn over Mufasa's death and the supposed deaths of his two children Simba and Amani just as he shed tears and quickly wiped them away from his eyes, and then he sadly stared at the paintings of Simba and Amani and smeared them.
