A/N: For anyone coming to Samantha's new property for Christmas Vacation that did NOT receive a portkey Santa in the last chapter, (The J Club girls and everyone's parents), Samantha mailed them out ahead of time.
Samantha Saver smiled to herself as she awoke on the morning of Monday, December 20th, 2021, in her room at her new magical property in her native homeland of Arizona.
In fact, just like Samantha's muggle house, this magical property was located in the Phoenix suburb of Tempe and was about four and three tenths miles south of Arizona State University and Sun Devil Stadium.
Part of the magic of this building was that it was invisible to everyone who the owner of the property did not want to let in. In order for the building to be visible to anyone other than its owner, the owner had to stand inside the property, raise his or her wand, and speak the names of the people he or she wanted to allow access to the property and for how long.
Samantha felt more comfortable taking things slowly, so she granted everyone in her circle and their parents temporary access to the building though the day after Christmas Vacation ended. Even her own parents and sisters were only granted this temporary access.
Samantha quickly got out of bed and took a long shower, being extra through with her shampoo, conditioner, and soap as she wanted to feel as refreshed as possible when she went to meet her guests.
After thoroughly cleansing herself, Samantha shut off the water to the shower, got out of the shower, combed her hair, and got dressed. On this day, Samantha put on a Kyler Murray jersey along with her usual black shorts, black socks, black velcro tennis shoes, and black wristwatch with large digital numbers. On this day, however, Samantha added the touch of putting on a Santa hat.
Samantha quite liked the combination of the Kyler Murray jersey and the Santa hat as she set out to welcome her circle to her new property. The Circle of whatever the hell number it was now had come to an agreement that, as it was Samantha's property they were going to, and as it was for Christmas, the combination of Kyler Murray jerseys and Santa hats made sense for this meeting.
Samantha walked back through her room and retrieved her wand from its holster by her bedside table and stowed it into the right front pocket of her shorts.
Samantha was definitely hungry, so before doing anything else, she called on one of the house elves that had come with this property.
"Chef?" called out Samantha.
A small pop and the house elf appeared.
"Mistress Samantha called Chef?" said the house elf.
"Yes, Chef," said Samantha clearly, "I am hungry, and I am in need of breakfast before I meet my guests. You need only cook for me this morning. I told the others they were to eat before coming here. They aren't arriving until ten you see."
"Chef would be delighted to cook for Mistress Samantha this morning, " said Chef happily, "What would Mistress Samantha like this morning?"
"I am hungry this morning so just some toast wouldn't be enough. How about two pancakes and a large sausage patty on the side? Orange juice to drink please," requested Samantha.
"Chef will get straight to work making Mistress Samantha breakfast and he will have a place setting ready for Mistress Samantha at the kitchen table in ten minutes and ten nanoseconds. Chef will call Mistress Samantha when her breakfast is ready. Mistress Samantha may stay in her room until then if she so chooses."
"Thank you, Chef," said Samantha appreciatively, "I'll wait in here then."
Ten minutes and ten nanoseconds later, Chef returned and said, "Mistress Samantha, your breakfast is sitting at a place setting at the kitchen table."
"Thank you, Chef," smiled Samantha and she went on her way out to the kitchen table.
Samantha ate her pancakes and sausage patty and drank her orange juice at a leisurely but not lethargic pace and when she was done Chef took away the dishes.
Samantha quickly went back into the bathroom and gave her teeth a thorough brushing and sprayed two sprays of deodorant under each of her underarms.
With all that out of the way, Samantha set her mind to preparing to welcome her guests.
"Setter," called Samantha and a female house appeared.
"Mistress Samantha called?" said Setter.
"Yes," confirmed Samantha, "Setter, please set up fifty lawn chairs in the backyard of ten rows each. They need to be set at least six feet apart from each other."
"Setter will get straight on it," smiled Setter.
"Thank you, Setter," replied Samantha gratefully.
Setter went into a storage room and got out a stack of ten white lawn chairs with large seats and long backs so that everyone could sit comfortably.
Setter carried this stack of lawn chairs into the backyard and set them up, making sure all of them were at least six feet apart from each other and then repeated this process four more times until there were enough lawn chairs in the backyard for everyone to have a seat.
In the end, she had set up five rows of lawn chairs of ten lawn chairs each just like Samantha wanted.
Setter returned the kitchen and told Samantha," The lawn chairs are set up in the backyard like Mistress Samantha wanted."
"Good job, Setter," beamed Samantha and Samantha walked out to the backyard.
Samantha retrieved her wand from her right pocket with her right hand.
Now, it was time to begin adding touches of Christmas.
Third Years at Hogwarts hadn't yet learned Complex Color Change Charms, but Samantha remembered the Simple Color Change Charm that Flitwick had taught her class in her first ever Charms lesson at Hogwarts.
Samantha pointed her wand directly at the leftmost lawn chair in the very front row and focused her mind hard on a mental image of that chair as red.
"Redify!" cried Samantha with the image of the chair as red filling her find.
Sure enough, the leftmost lawn chair in the very front row turned a vivid shade of Santa Claus red.
"Perfect!" declared Samantha, "My Simple Color Change Charms are totally awesome baby! Good for me!"
Samantha now directed her wand at the chair to the right of one she'd just turned red, and this time focused her mind on an image of the chair as green."
"Greenify!" called out Samantha as she concentrated hard on that visual of the chair as green.
Like clockwork, this lawn chair was now a perfect tent of Christmas tree green.
"This is going to work out really well," beamed Samantha.
Samantha continued the process of turning all the lawn chairs red or green. She set it up so there was always a green one next a red one and vice versa and that there was always a green one behind a red one and vice versa.
When she was finished, Samantha stared and admired her work for a minute and a nanosecond.
Then, she went back into the building and went into a storage room where she retrieved a bag of inflatable Christmas decorations. Samantha then walked back to the backyard and started setting things up.
Samantha blew up the inflatable Christmas decorations and set them out in the yard.
There was a massive lit up (though hard to see in the morning sun) reindeer with a red nose that Samantha recognized as a button. Hitting this button, Samantha discovered that when the red nosed button was hit, the Rudolph inflatable played a catchy up tempo instrumental version of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.
"Everyone will love light up Rudolph that plays Rudolph," cooed Samantha, "We'll have to come out and look at it at night too."
Samantha quickly discovered that the rest of the inflatables were similar: a huge white snowman with a button nose, two eyes made out of coal, and an old silk hat where the button nose was the button that played Frosty the Snowman, a soaring Santa Claus whose beard button played Santa Claus is Coming to Town, a towering Christmas tree where all the lights were also buttons that played O Christmas Tree, and a candy cane that played Holly Jolly Christmas if any red part was touched. The inflatables had all lit up upon being blown up and they all had buttons that played catchy up tempo instrumental versions of classic Christmas songs.
Checking her watch, Samantha saw that the time to welcome her guests was closing in fast.
Samantha took a seat in the first lawn chair that she'd turned red. Given her strong Arizona Cardinals fandom, she preferred red to green.
Fittingly, as the ten o'clock hour hit, the first guest to arrive at Samantha's new property was Devon.
"Of course," grinned Samantha when she saw Devon, "Even in something like arriving at a friend's property for Christmas Vacation, Devon Dursley still wants to be first."
"I'm always going to be THAT person who always insists on going first at anything and everything," smirked Devon.
"I purposefully set up the Santa portkeys so that yours would activate first," explained Samantha, "I know what you're like about wanting to go first and be first."
"It's literally not possible to know me at all and not know that," giggled Devon.
"I should note," said Samantha calmly, "That the entire friendship circle will all arrive before any of the parents, and we'll have some time to chat amongst ourselves."
"Sounds nice," said Devon, "All the parents were okay with that?"
"Yes," confirmed Samantha, "Because they all know exactly where we are going to be. They all know we're just going to sit outside in the backyard in these chairs and chat for a bit before they come. They know we don't smoke or use drugs or any of that garbage, so they trust us. In a way, the first little bit here will be like a meeting of the Circle of whatever the hell number we're on now."
"With the addition of the J Club girls, we're now the Circle of Twenty Three," said Devon matter of factly.
"Thank you, Devon," replied Samantha, "It's hard to keep track sometimes. But there isn't a single person in our circle who I feel doesn't belong."
"I think it's good for Todd, Miles, and Gary to have become friends with Jennifer, Jessica, and Juila," said Devon happily, "I feel like it's good for them to have muggle friends other than each other."
"It's kind of weird how they quickly went from enemies to buddies though," said Samantha in a tone of surprise.
"They were never enemies, just opponents," said Devon reasonably, "Either way, I have no doubt in saying that Todd, Miles, and Gary are far better off for having become friends with Jennifer Jessica, and Julia. Conversely, I have no doubt in saying that Jennifer, Jessica, and Juila are far better off for having become friends with Todd, Miles, and Gary."
"Devon is EXACTLY RIGHT!" chorused the voices of six people who had now appeared in the backyard."
So, yeah, it's obvious who the six people who just arrived are. The next chapter will give a proper introduction of the J Club girls and explain about how their friendships with Todd, Gary, and Miles developed :)
