Holiday Love
Chapter 2
Leading Dipper away from the main party, up towards the Mystery Shack's attic; which, like the rest of the shack, was decked from head to toe with Christmas decorations such as lights, holly, angels and a small variety of other display items. It certainly made anyone who walked through the halls feel all warm inside.
"And I thought Mabel knew how to decorate for the holidays," Dipper commented. "Soos and his grandma are like super decorators. Am I right Pacifica? Pacifica?"
The Northwest girl wasn't paying attention to her crush. Her mind was focused on the task at hand. The only problem was, that the fear of rejection and the temptation of bailing out were both stronger than ever before. The only thing that kept Pacifica on course was the reminder that other girls were after the man she loved, and if she didn't make her move now, someone else, like Tiffany, was going to swing on in and snatch what was rightfully hers.
"Alright Pacifica," she mumbled to herself, "Stay cool. Stay cool. Remember what we rehearsed. Back down now, and you may lose your only shot at Dipper."
"You say something?" Dipper asked.
Surrpsiesd Pacifica just stuttered. "No… no. Um… nothing. I said nothing. I was just thinking about… oh look here we are," she said as they entered the main part of the attic. It had gone through considerable renovations since Dipper had lived here. Instead of the cold, scary room made of loose, creaky boards that could give you a hundred splinters just from one touch, the place had been modified; many of the boards had been replaced with non-splintering wood and were properly put in place. The walls contained warm, cut images of cats and dogs; not the British ones that talked, because Soos was terrified of those for a reason. The most recognizable difference was seen on the far end of the room, where the red-glass window that overlooked the front yard of the shack, the one that had strangely resembled Bill Cipher was replaced with a blue-glass window that had the image of an angel forged into the design. Unsurprising, the room was also decorated with holly, angels, lights etc.
"Uh, yeah," Dipper said. "Soos and his family have done a good job of repairing this place after Weirdmageddon. So what did you want to show me?"
Taking a deep breath in and out, Pacifica pointed up to the top of the doorframe. Looking up, Dipper saw something he hadn't noticed before; hanging under the doorframe rested the ever-famous mistletoe.
Dipper looked back down at Pacifica who was blushing while leaning over towards him, lips puckered up and ready for action. In return, Dipper's face began to blush as well while the rest of his body froze in shock. He couldn't believe it, the girl that he had a crush on had lured him here on purpose to try and kiss him.
He was at a loss as to what to say or even do. He was shocked, yet partially excited at the same time as Pacifica closed her eyes as she got mere millimetres from him.
Then their lips met and it was like fireworks were going off inside the both of them. Dipper soon closed his eyes as well, enjoying the sweet taste of Pacifica's lips. At the same time, the Northwest girl wrapped her arms around the Pines boy, who returned the favour while they continued to kiss; which lasted for like an eternity, though neither wanted the moment to end.
Eventually, both reluctantly stopped the kiss, needing air. When they ended their kiss, they let go of each other and took in some much-needed oxygen, the two were in a daze. Both stared at each other, their faces consumed by blushes, their lips curved in massive, lovestruck, smiles, and their eyes filled with love.
It was then that all of Pacifica's fears of rejection had faded. The fire she felt from Dipper when he kissed her back told her all she needed to know. Still, her heart demanded she express her feelings in words, and she obliged.
"I love you Dipper Pines," she said, causing Dipper's eyes to widen in surprise.
"Yeah… I like you too. You're… a good friend…" Dipper replied, instantly realizing he had said the wrong thing. "No, wait!"
But it was too late. Pacifica felt like her heart had been shattered and ripped apart by those simple words. Unable to hide her pain, nor the tears now pouring from her eyes, she turned away and stormed off, not bothering to hear Dipper's apologies or cries to come back.
"No! Pacifica, wait! Come back!"
But Pacifica was gone within moments. This left alone Dipper to just stand there, under the doorframe, unable to believe what he'd just done. A beautiful girl had been standing right in front of him. A single girl whom Dipper had way more in common with than most people, even his twin sister. A super cool girl, even more cool considering how much of a brat she'd been when they'd first met. And to top the icing on the cake, not only did she willingly kiss him, but she also confessed her love for him.
And he blew it!
"Wow," said a familiar voice from the other end of the hallway. Dipper looked over to see that it was Grenda, standing with Candy and his sister Mabel. None looked too pleased at him.
"Just wow," Grenda said as she, along with her two friends crossed their arms in disappointment while giving him death glares. This made Dipper feel a tad bit uncomfortable. After all, he hadn't seen the girls this mad at him since he broke Candy's heart during their road trip the previous year.
Mabel walked over to her twin, grabbed him by the collar of his sweater, and started slapping him on the cheeks.
"Dipper! When someone says they love you, YOU DON'T CALL THEM YOUR FRIEND! YOU IDIOT!"
Before he could reply, Mabel let go of him and shoved him onto the floor. After that, the girls stormed out of the attic, leaving Dipper all alone with his regrets.
"She's right," he said out loud to himself. "I am an idiot. A fucking, stupid idiot."
Mabel, Candy, and Grenda were all very disappointed in Dipper right now. For crying out loud Pacifica had kissed him passionately on the lips, then confessed her feelings towards him, and all did afterwards was call her his friend.
"I can't believe my brother," Mabel said while stuffing herself with cookies at the buffet table.
"I know, right?" Grenda said as she chugged down on some eggnog. "That's like breaking rule number one in things you don't do during a romantic moment."
"I was so looking forward to shipping those two hard!" Candy said as she licked a candy cane.
Yeah, this was not good. They'd all been looking forward to seeing those two hooking up, and instead, they'd gone from friends to ex-friends, instead of boyfriend and girlfriend.
But despite all hope being lost, Mabel knew things would turn around.
"This isn't over," she said to her BFFs. "Dipper may deny it, but he likes Pacifica, more than as a friend. I know it!"
"Yet he had a chance to confess his true feelings and he blew it!" Grenda argued.
"I know, but if I know Dipper," Mabel defended, "He'll clean up his mess. And if he can't do it himself, then it'll be up to the Dream Team to fix this mess. Are you with me?" she said, raising her hand in a fist.
For a moment, the other two girls just looked at each other with questioning looks. However, those looks soon turned to confident determination as they raised their fists in the air and chanted simultaneously, "DREAM TEAM TO THE END!"
"DREAM TEAM TO THE END!" Mabel chanted back before whispering, " For Pacifica and Dipper."
