The New Guardians

When one thinks about what other planets look like, sometimes one would think of tropical jungles, vast oceans, and strange creatures of all shapes and sizes that look incredibly bizarre. However, due to some very popular science fiction films, planets completely coated in dessert and canyons, just like the one we find ourselves in.

Deep within one of said canyons on this dessert world, appeared to be a huge fortress at the bottom and my early reached all the way to the top. Steam rose up from the roof of the fortress, as the outside had multiple pathways and balconies with armed guards patrolling along them. The place was heavily guarded like Fort Knox, meaning that there was definitely something valuable being kept in there. However, what neither of these

Walking up to the very edge of the canyon ridge was a young man, who appeared to be wearing a helmet that covered the front part of his face and the back of his head, with large glowing red eye lenses. He wore a red leather coat that reached down all the way past his back, and beneath it wore a blue uniform of some kind with red stripes, and hade a flame symbol on the chest. He also wore boots that looked like they had miniature rockets attached to the side, and to complete his look he had two strange guns holstered on both his sides.

He tapped the side of his helmet, causing it to disappear and reveal his face. He was a young man that appeared to be in his late teens/early twenties, with short brown hair, but had a streak of maroon in it. This was none other than David Quill, son of the legendary Peter Quill, a.k.a. Star-Lord.

He took out a pair of high-tech binoculars and scanned throughout the fortress, watching each of the armed guard patrol outside the building, and around the front entrance on the ground.

The young man felt something move around his coat pocket, before something popped halfway out of there. It looked like a tiny wooden person that large black eyes that looked at the fortress in curiosity. This was Groot, a little companion that David gained from his last birthday, and was technically the son of the Groot that came before him.

"I am Groot?" The little Groot asked curiously.

"Yeah, that's the place alright." David responded as he patted the little guy on the head. "Sit tight, Groot. The fun's about to start."

"I am Groot." Groot said as he ducked back into David's coat pocket.

David accessed the comms in his ear and spoke. "Showtime a-holes. Everybody in position?''

"We're all set, David." A male voice said.

"Guess it's time we introduce ourselves." David said nonchalantly as he did a couple of stretches.

"Just try not to spend too much time showing off." A female voice said with a sigh.

"Come on, when have any of us ever showed off?" David said with a smirk, before he jumped up and used his rocket boots to fly up to one of the balconies.

This balcony was occupied by two armed guards, but none of them witnessed David flying overhead, before he dropped down planted his feet on one, knocking it out. The second guard screamed some alien language at him, but he was quickly silenced when David pulled out his guns and backhanded the guard with it, knocking him out as well.

With them taken care of, David fiddled with the door switch for a bit, before he was able to get it open and walked straight in. He traversed through the halls, trying to be as quiet and as stealthy as possible as he kept his back to the wall. However, the moment he turned a corner, he was instantly met face to face with three more alien guards, as they paused in their stride the moment, they saw David in front of them.

A silence filled the air as the two parties stared at each other, before the guards regained their bearings and brought out electric batons and started screaming at David in their alien language. One of them slammed their palm on a button on wall, causing an alarm to blare throughout the entire complex.

"Well, so much for stealth." David said with a sigh, as the guards were about to attack him. He quickly held his hands up in a placating gesture though, causing them to pause in their stride. "Whoa, whoa, okay, let's just chill the f out for a moment. Its obvious things are gonna get crazy right now, so before we get into it..."

David reached behind his back and pulled out some headphones and covered his ears, before he pressed a button a device attached to his hip, and it started playing music.

*Que "We're Not Gonna Take It," by Twisted Sister*

"I just had to set the mood." David said with a smirk, as he started tapping his foot to the music.

We're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
We're not gonna take it anymore

The three armed guards charged at David and tried hit him with their buttons, but he swerved out of the way from each strike, before striking one on the head, and did a leg sweep with the other two. One got up, but David hooked his arm in a lock and kneed him in the stomach, before tossing him into the wall. The other two got up, but David adjusted the rockets on his boots and activated them, giving his leg an extra boost of speed and power as he spin-kicked them on the head, knocking them out.

We've got the right to choose, and
There ain't no way we'll lose it
This is our life, this is our song

Back outside the complex, another person ran up to the ridge of the canyon, before giving out a battle cry and jumped off the edge, soaring through the air, before they drew a triangular shield and sword from their back. They used the shield to protect themselves, before they actually crashed right through the walls oof the fortress and landed inside one of the halls, startling a few guards that were in there.

The new figure stood up and revealed herself to be a beautiful young woman with light skin, short black hair, a bit for freckles on her face, wearing white and red armor along her body. Her piercing green eyes held an anticipated look as she held up her sword and charged at the alien guards.

We'll fight the powers that be, just
Don't pick on our destiny, 'cause
You don't know us, you don't belong

The alien guards tried shooting at her, but their shots were deflected by her shield as she kept getting closer. When she got close enough, she bashed all three of them with her shield, and sent them flying into the wall and drop their guns. All three of them groggily got up as they brought out their electric batons.

One tried to swing at her, but she cut the baton in half with her sword mid-swing, before she kicked the guard so hard, he actually flew right into the metal wall and left a dent. The other two swung at her, but she deflected their attacks with her shield and stabbed one of them in the stomach, before pulling her sword out and slicing the other one in the midsection.

She gave a satisfied look, before accessing her comms. "Yeah, I prefer this approach much better."

We're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
We're not gonna take it anymore

"Yeah, Freya, well we always seem to resort to this when stealth fails." David said as he raced down a hall and turned a corner, but had to duck back when a squad of guards were on the other side and tried firing at him.

David pulled out a triangle shaped object from his coat and tossed it around the corner, before it opened up as soon as it got close to the guards. The result was the object pulling the guards right towards it, causing them to dog pile on top of each other.

Baby Groot jumped out of David's pocket with a circular object in his hands, before he created wooden vines to slingshot it at the pile of guards, resulting in them getting electrocuted and knocked out.

"Nice work, little buddy." David said as Baby Groot used his vines to climb up to David's shoulder.

"I am Groot!" Baby Groot cheered as he held up his hand in a high five, which David reciprocated with his index finger.

Oh, you're so condescending
Your call is never ending
We don't want nothin', not a thing from you

The six guards at the front entrance were in a frenzy, as they got their weapons out and were prepared to get back inside to take out the intruders, but one of them yelled out something and pointed at the distance, causing all of them to look on curiously. Walking up to them at the front entrance were two individuals that looked different from each other.

The first individual on the left was a young man with lightly tanned skin, wore a red jacket that had the same flame logo that David had on his uniform on the left side of the chest, and strangest part was that he would have been completely bald, if it wasn't for the giant fin attached to his head.

The second individual was dressed in something complete different from the other guy. This one wore pure black armor from head to toe, with large shoulder pads with small spikes on them, knee and shin guards, boots, and a helmet that covered his entire head with large white eye lenses. The funny thing about his body armor was that it seemed to ripple, like it was made out of liquid, and had grey veins along certain parts of it.

All six guards raised their weapons at the new intruders, but the one with the fin on his head gave a loud whistle, causing an arrow to fly out from its holster on the right side of his hip. He gave a few whistle notes, that caused the arrow to fly right the guards and maneuver in multiple directions, too fast for the guards to keep track of it. The arrow eventually pierced each of the guards one by one, causing them to drop dead.

Your life is trite and jaded
Boring and confiscated
If that's your best, your best won't do

The two individuals looked up and saw four guards up on a high balcony looked down on them and began firing upon the two, forcing them to take cover behind a large boulder.

"Hey, Nate, you think you can take those guys out?" The one with the fin asked his armored companion.

"Come on, Yondu, at least make it challenging." Nate said with a deep voice, before he ran out from the cover.

He lashed his arm out, causing a long black tendril to shoot out and attach to the fortress, pulling himself up high right above the balcony with the shooting guards. The moment he was close enough, he detached the tendril and tackled the guards on the balcony to the ground. They all got up and tried to attack, but Nate just blocked all their strikes with his forearm retaliated with a couple powerful punches, which sent one of them flying off the balcony and to the ground below.

Two of the remaining three guards tried to pull out their spare guns, but Nate was quick, as his armor seemed to create his own guns in his hands and just fired at the guards, killing them instantly.

The final guard pulled out an electric baton and struck Nate in the back, causing him to grunt in pain, but then a long black tendril shot out from his back attach itself to the guard's head, and started slamming the him right into the metal wall multiple times until he went dead limp, before tossing the body right over the side of the balcony.

Whoa-oh-oh
Whoa-oh-oh

Nate gave a two fingered salute to Yondu down below, who just chuckled at his teammate. Nate looked on in the distance and noticed something heading their way.

"Hey, guys, looks like we've got incoming." Nate said in the comms.

Off in the distance, several ships were flying overhead around the fortress. All of them deployed their weapons and took aim at the two individuals outside of the fortress.

We're right (yeah)
We're free (yeah)
We'll fight (yeah)
You'll see (yeah)

"Is it a problem for HR?" David asked over the comms.

"Yeah, I'd say HR can take this." Nate said nonchalantly.

"HR, you're up." Yondu said.

"We've got to find a better code for me." A new voice said over the comms.

Whoa-Whoa, we're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
We're not gonna take it anymore

All of a sudden, thrusters were heard from a distance, as a small object came flying in from up high and sped right towards the ships. The moment this object got close, it shot out several rockets that impacted half of the ships, causing them to explode and crash down.

All the ships swerved around to get a lock on whatever was firing on them, thinking it was some kind of drone, but their scanners revealed it wasn't a drone at all. It was actually a man in black and silver armor, with glowing red eyes along the faceplate, and a red rectangle-shaped Arc Reactor core along his chest. The armor was heavily armed with a rocket launcher and a large machine gun along his shoulders.

We're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
We're not gonna take it anymore

The armored individual flew around the remaking ships, making sure they didn't get a lock on him, before shooting at one of the ship's engines with his machine gun, causing them to crash down.

He flew in between the remaining two ships and hovered there for a moment, before he held out both his hands towards them. He then fired a powerful repulsor blasts from both of his hands, destroying both ships at the same time. He landed on the ground with a thud, as he simply walked away as both ships crashed behind him and exploded in a fiery inferno.

*Guitar solo*

"Still showing off, Hector." Yondu said with chuckle, as he patted his armored friend with a chuckle.

"Hard not to when you're a walking and a flying tank." Hector said with a chuckle as he faceplate folded up to reveal a tanned-skin young man.

Nate jumped down from the balcony and back onto ground lever before walking up to his teammates. "So, any of you got the key to this place?" Nate asked curiously, as he gestured to the large door.

"I'm the War Machine; I've got the key to everything." Hector said with a smirk as his faceplate came down and he shot a few rockets and blew up the door.

"That works just fine." Yondu said as they all raced into the fortress to aid the rest of their comrades.

David, meanwhile, speed walked down a hallway, but paused when he noticed an intersection ahead, and heard the sounds of fighting up ahead. He tilted his head in confusion, when all of a sudden several guards were sent flying from one end and crashed onto the ground. David casually peaked his head around the corner and saw Freya bashing a single guard down with her shield, before kicking him so hard he was sent flying and crashed into the wall.

Freya then continued to walk forward, with David joining her. "You've seen the rest of the guys yet?" David asked casually, before shooting at a guard that came running up from behind, without even turning around.

"No, but I'm sure they're fine." Freya said, as she watched one of the guards she beat down tried to get up. Without even breaking her stride, she just used her sword and sliced him down. "Do you think Iva's upset that the operation went a little extreme again?"

Before David could respond, three more guards came running down the hall and stopped a few feet away from the two. All three of them raised their guns, causing Freya to hold up her shield to defend and David to raise his guns in return.

Unexpectedly, though, the middle of the three guards kicked one of the other two in the kneecaps, causing them to howl in pain, before they slammed the butt of their gun into they're head, knocking them down. The final guard growled in both confusion and anger, before he was shot down by traitorous guard.

The surprises just kept coming as the entire body of the guard seemed to change, becoming more feminine, having green skin and pointed ears, and wearing completely different clothes. The figure revealed themselves to be a female Skrull, wearing the same uniform David wore, but instead of it being blue with red stripes, it was black with purple stripes.

The female Skrull gave the two of them a condescending look, while shaking her head. "Five minutes. We can't just go five minutes while on a mission to not be all guns blazing, sword slashing, and stuff exploding all the time?" The female Skrull asked in an exasperated tone. "These are called stealth operations because we have to be quiet; you know that, right?"

"Hey, come on, Iva, I was stealthy...for a bit." David said sheepishly as the three of them continued walking together.

"I, for one, prefer it this way." Freya said with smile. "This reminds me of all the tales my mother told me of great battles of Asgard. Constant battles, glorious victories, and ending with a riveting celebration."

"Why do I put up with this team?" Iva said with a sigh.

"Because you love us and you know it." David said with cheeky smile.

"Debatable." Iva said with an eye roll, but she did get a bit of a small smile.

Whoa-oh-oh
Whoa-oh-oh
We're right (yeah)
We're free (yeah)
We'll fight (yeah)
You'll see (yeah)

The three of them eventually made their way to the center of the fortress, which looked like a large warehouse with tons of crates, both big and small, all around them. An explosion occurred on an adjacent door, and three of them saw the rest of the team walking out of the smoke. The group of six, seven if you count Groot, who jumped up on David's shoulder and smiled at everyone, gathered at the center of the large room.

Before any greetings could be shared, at least five dozen guards came bursting out through multiple doors on the ground, and even some on some catwalks that hanged overhead. All of them either had their guns drawn, or their electric batons crackling with power, while giving a deadly glare that the intruders of their stronghold.

One guard eyed each member of these team, before his eyes widened in shock, as he recognized them instantly. "It's the Guardians of the Galaxy!"

All seven members of this team just looked all around them, not really giving looks of fear, but out of mild curiosity, wondering if this was all they had to contend with. Seeing that this was all that's left of their opposition, each of them gave a ready smirk, with David tapping the side of his head and activating his helmet.

"Time to give a shit." David said simply.

We're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
We're not gonna take it anymore

All of the guards either charged forward, or began shooting at the Guardians. Each member then spread out to make it easier to defeat their operation, with David flying up high and raining down laser fire with his Quad Blasters. He made it to the highest hanging catwalk and shot down three guards, but one tried to come up from behind. Fortunately, Groot jumped off David's shoulder and send some vines to ensnare the guard behind David by the ankles, tripping him up, before sending falling right off the catwalk.

"I am Groot!" Groot cheered happily as he watched the guard fall to his death.

War Machine flew up higher and then shot straight down, completely barreling right through the rest of the catwalks and sending each of the guards on them to the bottom floor. He landed hard with a thud and shot out a barrage of bullets from the guns on his arms, with any guard trying to come up from behind getting mowed down by the machine gun on his shoulder that covered him. One guard managed to get in close, but War Machine just punched him in the gut so hard that he was sent flying up high and crashed into the wall.

We're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
We're not gonna take it anymore

Yondu and Iva stood back-to-back, with the later dual wielding a couple laser pistols and shooting down any guards that came to close to her. Yondu, while welding a single laser pistol, mainly used his flying arrow and whistled wildly, sending it flying and killing any guard that came in too close. Three guards were lined up just right, so Yondu gave a single whistle and and the arrow flying straight through all three of them, one after the other, in the chest.

Iva simply ducked under the swing of another guard's strike, before smacking him with one of her pistols, disorienting him, and then shot him dead. Two more guards came up from both her sides, but she just shot them right in their heads.

Freya blocked a few strikes from a guard and his electric with her shield, before giving an upward slash with her sword and killed her opponent. Three more guards came running at her, but she leapt right over them and landed behind, before she gave a spinning slash and beheaded each of them. Another came running at her, causing her to smirk as she gave a lunge that sent her shooting forward with great speed and stabbed the guard's chest in the process.

We're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
We're not gonna take it anymore

Nate decided to get physical and mainly used hand-to-hand combat to deal with the horde of guards as sent of flurry of powerful punches and kicks at any guard that came close to him. He gave a powerful kick in the chest to one guard that sent him flying, and then crashing into a group of more guards. Two long black tendrils sprouted from his back and each held a pair of sub-machine guns, before they started raining fire down onto the rest of the charging guards.

The last remaining dozen guards gathered together and attempted to give one final charge, but David flew overhead and dropped a shock grenade that paralyzed them for a brief moment, giving Hector the chance to fire a couple missiles from his shoulder rocket launcher, completely decimating them.

*Song End*

Each of the guardians gathered around each other, looking around at the dead group of alien guards that littered the floor. Some of them took a few deep breaths to catch their breaths, but others were still raring to go and were a little bit disappointed that it was over so soon.

"Tell me that was as epically cinematic as I thought it was." David said with a smile as his helmet disappeared.

"Was that seriously all there was?" Freya said with a frown. "That was a lot less thrilling than I thought it would be."

"Well, at least it's over now." Nate said, but then paused when they heard a loud rumbling in the air.

"I am Groot?" Groot asked as he looked at Yondu.

"No, that was not my stomach!" Yondu said incredulously. "Did that sound like something that would come from a stomach?"

"I am Groot." Groot said.

"No, it didn't!" Yondu exclaimed with his arms raised in exasperation.

"Quiet, everyone!" Iva exclaimed as they all remained silent and listened in. They noticed that the rumbling was getting louder and the floor began to shake as well.

"Whatever that is, it's getting closer." Hector said as all weapons on his armor were primed and ready.

"Get ready, guys." David said as all of them looked in the direction of a single large door, where they could feel the rumbling was originating.

Just then, the boor began to dent outward in different places, as something was trying to break through. A large hand came out from the middle of the door, before it started to bend it down and pry it off its hinges. The large metal door folded up like tissue paper from the strength of this newcomer, before it stepped into the large room and revealed itself.

It was large muscular alien that was eight feet tall, had grey skin, glowing orange eyes, and had a lion mane around his head. He wore blue armor around his body, and his muscular forearms and hands were coated by large silver gauntlets. The creature snarled, revealing his large canines as he glared angrily at the Guardians of the Galaxy.

"You..." The large creature growled angrily. "You dare come into my fortress, decimate my army, and dare to think that you can challenge my might?!"

David just stared at the large alien for a moment as he briefly glanced at his teammates. "I mean...yeah, we kind of did." David said with a shrug. "But, hey, we didn't mean to cause you some grief. You see, you stole something from someone, so we're just here to steal it back."

"So just hand over the goods, and maybe we won't send you home with bruises." Yondu said said as his fin glowed ready.

The large alien gave a small roar of anger as he glared hatefully at them all. "You think you can just disrespect me like that?! I am the reckoning that shall befall upon the universe! I am the coming of a new age of death and destruction upon all who stand before me! My reign shall put even the Mad Titan Thanos to shame!" The large alien raised his arms in reverence. "All shall tremble at the name of...Blastaar!"

The room remained silent as what appeared to be a pause of dramatic effect, but that was soon diminished when Nate just started laughing loudly. He laughed so hard that his hands were placed on his knees to keep himself standing.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, but your name is...Blastaar?" Nate said as he tried to stop laughing, but failing pretty miserably. "What, is that supposed to be a combination of 'blast' and then 'star?' Or is it a play on the actual word 'blaster?'" He just continued to chuckle, which was soon followed by some of the other Guardians. "Cause if it's the latter, that name is already taken by a Transformer, so you're gonna have to work on some branding."

Blastaar has had enough, as he shot up his hand and fired an energy beam from his gauntlet and hit Nate square in the chest, sending him crashing into the wall. Everyone looked shocked at the attack, as they all turned to Blastaar, who looked absolutely livid, as he gave an animalistic roar and charged at them.

"Guess we managed to piss him off." David said as they all scattered. "Iva, Groot, go check on Nate!"

"Right." Iva said as she picked up Baby Groot and they went to check on their teammate.

David activated his helmet and flew up high to avoid an incoming punch from Blastaar, before firing multiple shots at his back. The shots were ineffective as Blastaar Spinner and fired another energy blast from both his gauntlets, which David flew out of the way. Freya came in on the right and sliced at his side with her sword, causing the beast-like alien to roar in pain, before he backhanded her. Luckily her shield took the brunt of the attack, but it still sent her crashing through multiple empty crates.

Yondu gave a loud whistle and sent his arrow flying at Blastaar, but while it did pierce his shoulder, it couldn't go through his tough hide, which just left it imbedded in. Blastaar looked at the arrow stuck to him, before growling at Yondu, causing his eyes to widen in fear. Blastaar shot out both his hands and fired a powerful energy blast, causing Yondu to run out of the way. Blastaar continued to fire his energy blast at the retreating Guardian, but that just left him wide open for War Machine to fly in from behind and tackle him to the ground.

The armored Guardian hovered in the air as he unleashed a rain of bullets from all of his guns at the downed alien warlord, but he just got back up as the bullets just bounced right off him. Blastaar roared as he leaped up and grabbed Hector's leg before he could fly away and then slammed him onto the ground. He then proceeded to heavily stomp on him multiple times, denting his armor in multiple places.

He would have continued if Freya had not come in and jumped on his back and started stabbing him with her sword multiple, causing him to roar in pain. While on his back, Freya managed to grab Yondu's arrow from the alien's shoulder and stabbed it right onto Blastaar's eye, causing him to roar in pain even louder, before he reached up and threw her off him.

David came flying around in circles and continued to fire upon Blastaar with his Quad Blasters, but seeing as how regular plasma shots were not being so effective, he decided to change tactics. He took out a grenade from his coat and threw it at the large beast alien, which attached to his chest. With one well aimed shot, David fired at the grenade attached to the alien, causing an explosion that sent Blastaar staggering back, but still on his feet.

Back with Iva and Groot, the two of them made it to a pile of rubble that Nate was at after he got blasted away. "Groot, let's get him out of there." Iva said as she and the little tree alien moved some rubble out of the way, with Groot using his vines, though he was just moving tiny pebbles compared to her effort.

All of a sudden, all of the rubble was pushed away and the two Guardians staggered back as to not get hit. Standing tall was Nate, but he looked a bit different now. His black armor was no longer visible, as the black substance that surrounded it started to convulse and morph his body. He now stood eight feet tall, with his build becoming more muscular and the grey veins that surrounded him started pulsing. His head, meanwhile, became visible as one could now see that he was light skinned, with dark blonde hair, and blue eyes. Nate looked down at Iva and Groot with a small hint of fear and anxiousness on his features, as the black substance started to surround his face.

"I think he managed to piss this thing off." Nate said, before the black substance completely covered his head and changed it. His head still had the large white eyes, but he now sported a mouth that looked like a permanent grin, with rows of large sharp teeth.

"I am Groot." Groot said fearfully as he hid behind Iva's leg.

"Yeah." Iva said as she stepped back to get out of the way from the potential devastation that was about to occur. "Venom has taken over."

The now named Venom gave a loud roar as he charged right at the distracted Blastaar, who was currently trying to blast War Machine and David up in the air. Venom leapt up and pounced right on Blastaar's back, proceeding to slam him to the ground and started hammering the back of his head. He then grabbed him by the back of his armor and threw him high up and imbedded into a wall. He then shot a black tendril at the large beast alien and proceeded to drag him all across walls of the large room.

The other Guardians hanged back, as they new that whenever Nate goes into full Venom-mode, it's best to just stay out of the way.

Venom pulled Blastaar in close and grabbed him by the shoulders, slamming him multiple times into the ground, leaving a small crater. His grin grew wider as he was about to deliver a devastating punch, but it was soon caught by Blastaar, who then proceeded to deliver a devastating punch of his own to the side of Venom's head, sending him staggering back.

Blastaar got back up and glared hatefully at Venom, though his one single eye did widen slightly at the sight of Venom. "Just what are you, creature?" Blastaar asked in shock.

Venom's grin widened as he flicked out a long slender tongue in the air. "The one who's gonna put you down." Venom said in an even deeper voice than Nate's voice.

Both Blastaar and Venom roared at each other as they charged at one another and collided. Both of them were trading hits with one another, with them not even slowing down. They each just took one hit after the other and only cared about tearing each other apart.

Venom slammed a double hammer fist onto Blastaar's shoulders, sending him to his knees. He was about to follow it through with another punch, but the beast alien just grabbed him by the forearm and held on tightly. Venom tried to deliver a punch from his other arm, but it was then caught by Blastaar's other hand and, just like the other one, it held on tightly.

Blastaar's gauntlets began to glow with power and heat, causing a sizzling sound to be heard from where he grabbed Venom, causing him to roar in pain. The large beast alien smiled cruelly as he then proceeded to knee Venom in the stomach, and followed it up with multiple head butts, all the while continuing to heat up his gauntlets.

"Big guy is taking out our heavy hitter!" Hector exclaimed as he was about to shoot a missile from his rocket launcher.

"Stop!" David ordered. "Fire and heat would hurt Venom more than that Lion-O ripoff!"

Yondu stepped forward and looked around for something, before he finally found his arrow on the ground. Must have fallen off the moment Freya stabbed Blastaar's eye with it.

That's when Yondu had an idea. "Then let's go with a more surgical approach." Yondu said with a smirk, as he whistled loudly, causing the arrow to fly up and circle around.

As Blastaar continued to pound Venom with anything but his fists, he noticed something speedily flying all around him and tried to get a glimpse at what it was. When he looked in one direction, it was already gone and somewhere else around him. He kept turning his wildly, before looking in one direction turned out to be his downfall, as Yondu's arrow came flying straight at his one remaining good eye.

This caused him to roar in pain as he let go of Venom, and held onto his face in pain. Hector took this opportunity to fire a powerful repulsor blast him palms that sent Blastaar staggering back, which allowed Freya to come in from behind to slice at the large alien's ankles, sending him to his knees.

Venom quickly recovered and delivered a powerful uppercut that sent Blastaar flying and crashing onto the ground, before he followed it up by launching multiple black tendrils at the wall closest to the downed Blastaar, before giving a huge pull and sent the wall crumbling down. Blastaar became buried alive in a pile of rubble as all of the Guardians stood at the ready, in case he would pull himself back out.

"Did we get him?" David asked curiously with his guns drawn.

Just then, Blastaar came bursting out of the rubble, panting heavily as he he looked bruised and tattered all over with both his eyes missing. Despite no longer having any eyes, he still looked in the direction of the Guardians of the Galaxy.

"You just had to jinx it." Iva said as she raised her gun.

"Guess the fun isn't over yet." Freya said with an eager smirk as she held her sword at the ready.

"You have a weird definition of fun." Hector said with an eye roll under his helmet.

Blastaar continued to pant heavily as he took a couple steps forward, but then stopped as he wobbled in place for a moment, before he finally toppled over and fell into unconsciousness. Everyone looked at one another in confusion, before taking a stroll around his body and looked in confusion, before giving slight smiles.

"Okay, now we got him." David said in satisfaction as he holstered his blasters.

"Damn. Was hoping to rip his head." Venom said as his body started to shrink, before it was back to Nate's normal armored body, with his helmet receding to reveal his face.

"You alright, Nate?" Iva asked in concern.

"Each, I'm good now." Nate said as he took a few deep breaths. "It's hard to keep him under control when his aggression gets the best of him."

"Well, it worked in our favor, at least." Yondu said with a shrug.

"And the place is still standing, to an extent." Iva said.

"So now that all of our adversaries are taken care of, let's get what we came for." Freya said as she sheathed her sword and holstered her shield.

"Yeah, let's hope it's still intact after all of this." Nate said as he gestured around the destruction they caused form their fight.

"Well, only one way to find out." David said as he walked up to a crate and opened it, before proceeding to look into another one. Each of the Guardians followed suit and proceeded to look around.

Groot looked around and picked up a pebble, holding it up for David to see. "I am Groot." He said with a smile.

David chuckled as he shook his head. "That's a pebble, Groot. Not exactly what we're looking for." David said. Groot looked disappointed as he dropped the pebble, before he smiled widely and picked up something else, which happened to be an eye ball. This caused David's eyes to widen slightly and cringe with slight disgust. "That's still not what we're looking for, and also you should wash your hands after this is all done."

Yondu looked into one crate that held a small chest, before he took it out and opened it. His eyes widened with elevation as the chest was filled with jewels and treasures, as he took a handful and was about to put it in his pocket.

"Yondu!" Iva yelled out, stopping him from looting. "We're already getting paid enough for this job. We don't need to get greedy."

"What? It's a little insurance policy in case our units run dry." Yondu said in defense.

"Put it back." Iva said sternly.

"Fine. Fine." Yondu said with a sigh as he put the jewels back. Iva walked off, which Yondu took the opportunity to take at least one ruby from the chest stuff it in his pocket.

Freya pulled open another crate, but the contents of this one made her smile. "Everyone! I've found what we're looking for!" Freya said happily. The whole team gathered around and looked inside, before they smiled in satisfaction as well.

"Payday here we come!" David cheered.

On a brand-new planet, the Guardians of the Galaxy stood within the throne room of a lush silver palace. Standing along the walls of the room were what looked like lizard people, each wielding weapons as they stood completely still at attention. Sitting on the throne was the king of these people, an alien with a crocodile-like face, wearing a large crown and had red armor over him.

"Guardians." The king said in a strong tone. "I sent you on a task that none of my strongest or bravest warriors ever came back alive from. Now you stand before me, and I must ask you, did you accomplish what I asked?"

"We have, your highness." David said as he stepped forward. He gestured for Iva to step forward with a box in hand. She placed the box on the ground, and the king stepped up from his throne and went and opened the box. He gasped in shock as he reached in and pulled out what was inside.

It was, by all accounts, the definition of the cutest thing you have ever saw. A tiny alien that was nothing more than a pink ball of fluff, with two little antennae sticking out of it's fur, and large blue eyes. The creature blinked at the king, before it gave a cute little coo.

"This creature is an endangered species upon my world, thus it was taken by the Collector, and was taken again by Pirates when he lost control of Nowhere to Thanos." The king said as he looked at the pink fluffball alien in relief. "Now it has made it's way back to our home."

"Well, we are honored to be of assistance." David said with a polite smile, feeling great satisfaction at his teams' success. "Hopefully now it will prosper again, now that it-"

David's words were cut off when the king opened his maw wide open and then proceeded to chomp on the pink fluffy alien whole, and swallowed it with ease. The king gave a loud burp and sighed in satisfaction as he patted his stomach.

Each of the Guardians' eyes widened in absolute shock, with their jaws hanging wide open by what they just saw. Groot even looked on in shock, before he just fainted and nearly fell off of Hector's shoulders, but luckily the armored guardian was able to catch him.

"Ah, the legends of how good it tasted don't do it justice!" The king cheered joyfully.

"You...You...you just ate it!" David exclaimed in shock.

"Of course. What did you think I was going to do with it?" The king asked as if it was obvious.

"But I...you just...I thought..." David stuttered as he tried to come up with an answer.

Luckily, Yondu came up next to him and patted him on the shoulder. "It's best not to think on these things." Yondu whispered.

Despite the craziness that he just saw, David sighed and accepted Yondu's words and just nodded his head. "Honestly, we shouldn't be surprised, by this point." David said.

"Well, now that we have brought you your breakfast, lunch, whatever the hell that was, perhaps we can get to the matter of payment?" Nate asked as he shook off the shock and got back to business.

"Of course, of course. The Badoon race never goes back on a deal." The king said jovially as he clapped his hands, allowing four servants to come in and carry a large chest to the guardians. "Thirty thousand units as payment."

"Thank you, your majesty." Freya said as she carried the chest singlehandedly. "We'll be sure to put this payment to good use."

"Good day, your highness." David said with a wave.

"And good day to you, Guardians of the Galaxy!" The king said happily. "You honor your predecessors name! The galaxy is in good hands knowing that it has you to protect it!"

"Just doing the best we can." David said with a smile, before they all turned and walked on out of the throne room. Another day, another mission completed for the biggest band of misfits in the galaxy.

After their meeting with the king and receiving their payment, the Guardians returned to their ship and flew off into space. Their ship was modeled after the Milano, the previous ship that belonged to the first Guardians of the Galaxy, but this one had a different color scheme. Instead of it being blue and orange, this one was purple and red, and was slightly bigger than the Milano.

Inside the ship, David was at the controls and placed the ship in autopilot, before pressing a button on the controls and selected a song to play throughout the ship's speakers. Today's selection was Living Thing, by Electric Light Orchestra.

As the music played throughout the ship, David got up from his seat and walked down some stairs to make his way to the rec room set up for his team to relax. He looked on with a smile as he watched his team talking amongst each other and just hanging out in their casual wear. Hard to imagine that they, once again, nearly died on a mission.

Freya and Hector were spending their relaxing time by having an arm-wrestling match, though Hector was using the arm part of his armor to give himself a bit of an advantage, while Freya just used her bare hand. Yondu spent his time just counting the amount of units in the sheet, making sure everyone had their fair share of the profit, with Groot sitting in the chest and playing with the units. Iva and Nate just sat down on the couch talking casually, while Nate was eating a chocolate bar. He was about to take another bite, but his own arm yanked it away, and the head of Venom came out from his arm and ate the chocolate himself, much to Nate's annoyance, though Iva chuckled at the scene.

David couldn't help but smile at his team, feeling lucky that he has them to watch his back.

This team came about, not exactly like how his dad, Peter Quill, formed his own team, as none of them started as enemies. The first one he invited to join his team was Yondu, as they practically grew up together. Yondu's full name was Yondu Obfenteri, as he was the son of Kraglin. Yondu was named after David's adoptive grandfather, who was Kraglin's captain of a band of Ravagers. Both of their dads were part of the original Guardians of the galaxy, so they practically grew up together as brothers. When David asked Yondu to become the first member of his own team of Guardians, he couldn't say yes fast enough.

Freya was also an interesting teammate to have, as she was actually half human and half Asgardian. Her mother was the famous warrior Lady Sif, who has trained her to be a warrior since birth. David met her when he took a trip to New Asgard on Earth, and they got into a bit of trouble when a band of thieves tried to steal some of their artifacts, but thankfully the two of them stopped them. Seeing that David was a skilled warrior, and that there was promise of great battles out there in the galaxy, Freya asked to join David's new Guardians team, which he gladly accepted. Hey, Thor was a member of his dad's team for a brief time, so having an Asgardian on the team would be very useful.

Hector was the son of Colonel James Rhodes, the original War Machine, but it was not by blood. Rhodey shocked everyone of the original Avengers when he revealed that he and Nebula, a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy and David's aunt, were in a relationship. Apparently they became close and got together during the time of the blip. Some time after Thanos was defeated and everybody was brought back, the two would eventually adopt Hector after his home was destroyed and his family was killed. Nebula eventually introduced him to David, and when Hector inherited his dad's War Machine armor, he officially joined David's team.

Iva was stealth operative agent that worked with Talos, the head of the Skrull operations on Earth, and David met her when he and Yondu were asked by Talos to help her track down a dangerous weapon that was being sold on the black market. The three of them managed to track down the weapon and Iva tried to make it into a delicate operation, but stealth and delicately were never really part of David's forté. The operation ended in craziness, but the weapon was eventually recovered, but Iva spent the majority of the time disciplining the two of them on how things went wrong before they eventually went right. After the success of the mission, Iva was asked by Talos to official join their team, in order to monitor them, to see if they can be of use for more operations in the future. Needless to say, it's been a heck of a ride for her.

Nate, however, was definitely the strangest case on how he became a member of the team. Last year, Nate was off on a vacation trip in Mexico, as a last bit of freedom before he would officially join the U.S. army, but things took a turn as he found himself unexpectedly becoming the host of this black ooze-like creature that attached to himself at this hotel he was staying at. The creature took control and attacked every criminal that it came across, going so far as to bite their heads off. These actions caught the attention of David's team when they were visiting Earth, and when they met the creature for the first time, it was one heck of a fight. When the battle was over, Nate reverted back and was scared by what was happening, luckily the Guardians were there to comfort him, and said they would figure this out together.

Through practice, Nate was actually able to commune with the creature, or Symbiote, as it called itself. The issue was that the creature's mind was fragmented, and it actually didn't know where it came from, only that it's name was Venom. It got brief flashes here and there, but it could never fully remember what it's purpose was, or why it was even on Earth to begin with. All it could remember was that it was at this bar, it wandered off, and eventually found Nate. After gaining somewhat control and cooperation of the Symbiote, Nate asked if he could join David's team, feeling that there might be answers to where this thing came from out there in space, instead of on Earth. David accepted, and would be glad to help Nate get a handle on whatever Venom was to help him gain better control.

The last one to join the team was Groot, as he was a gift from the original Groot to David on his last birthday. He's still a baby now, but he'll grow pretty fast.

David was taken out of his thoughts when he heard something slam down hard, and looked to see Freya holding down Hector's arm and cheered in victory. "I believe that is ten to nothing on my end!" Freya cheered.

Hector chuckled as he removed his armor pice on his arm. "Keep laughing, cause I'll get one over you eventually." Hector said.

"You may get one victory one day, but today I still have ten over you." Freya said smugly.

"Oh, so it's like that, huh?" Hector said with an eye roll.

Freya chuckled as she stood up and held out a drink in her hand. "My friends, I would just like to say, we have claimed another victory. Another glorious battle won!" Freya said happily as everyone raised their own drinks as well.

"Here, here!" Everyone cheered as they tapped their drinks together.

"I, for one, will drink to all these sweet Units we've got here." Yondu said as he gestured to the chest of money, but paused when he saw Groot balance a stack of Units on his head.

"So, David, what's going to happen to Blastaar and whatever amount of goons that are still alive?" Iva asked curiously.

"I sent a message to the Nova Corps." David answered. "They'll take Blastaar and whatever goons he has left to a nice little prison cell made just for them."

"Good." Nate said in satisfaction. "The sooner that blowhard's locked up, the better." Nate's head twitched as everybody knew it was sign that Venom was speaking to him. "The other guy says he still wishes that he could have ate his brain, and a bunch of inner organs that are disturbing to imagine."

"At least he kept collateral damage to a minimum, so that's progress." Iva said with a shrug.

"Well, everyone, I for one cannot wait to have a week long vacation. Any places you guys want to visit?" David said as he sat down.

"We could go to a club on Contraxia?" Yondu suggested. "Use some these units at the casino?"

"Where we would have to constantly watch our backs so we don't get robbed?" Hector asked sarcastically. "A vacation is supposed to be relaxing."

"Come on, who would want to pick a fight with us?" Yondu asked.

"I am Groot." Groot said simply.

"Exactly." Hector said. "Every single tough guy who wants to prove their tougher than us will want to pick a fight with us."

"Well, I would find that enjoyable, but even I think we all should find time to relax." Freya said with her own suggestion. "How about we go on a camping trip on the planet of Berghert, and spend some time enjoying nature. My mother would always take me camping in the wilderness, as it not only soothes the soul, but sharpens the mind."

"We could always go back to Earth for a bit? See what new stuff Morgan has invented, visit some family, or see if any of our Avenger pals needs some help with stuff?" Hector suggested.

"All of those sound good, but we've got to decide on something." David said with a chuckle, but noticed Groot raising his hand. "Yeah, Groot, what do you suggest?"

"I am Groot." Groot said. Everybody paused and pondered his suggestion, before they all smiled and nodded in approval.

"Sounds good to me!" Yondu said happily.

"I suppose that could be fun." Iva said with a nod.

"The little guy is a genius." Hector said with a chuckle.

"Alright, team!" David said as he got up and was about to make his way to the pilot seat. "Let's get moving and vacation away!"

However, David paused when he heard the music stop, and in its place was a call alarm that popped up on one of the screens near him. Everyone was confused as to who was calling them at this time, so David took a look at the caller I.D.

"Who is it, David?" Freya asked.

"It's the Nova Corps." David answered in confusion.

"Didn't you just leave them a message?" Iva asked in equal confusion.

"Yeah. I wonder what they could need." David said as he answered the call and an image of a human wearing the Nova Corps uniform answered the call. "This is Star-Lord speaking. Everything alright with Blastaar?"

"The prisoner has been successfully apprehended and is sent to the most maximum prison we can send him." The Nova Corps officer said. "That's the reason why we have called you, however, is of upmost importance."

"Well, listen, pal, we just got through with a mission and we're hoping to maybe have some down time." David said sheepishly as he rubbed the back of his head.

"However, we are available if the situation calls for it." Iva interjected, as she shot David a look.

"I can assure you, the situation definitely calls for it." The Nova Corps officer said with a troubled look on his face. "Nova Prime has requested the Guardians of the Galaxy to arrive at Xander as soon as possible."

"What's going on?" Hector asked with concern.

"All will be explained when you arrive. Please hurry, there isn't much time." With that said, the Nova officer ended the call, leaving the air pretty tense.

"Well, so much for our little vacation." Yondu said with a sigh.

"What do you think that was all about?" Nate asked in confusion.

"We'll know when we arrive." Iva said, though she looked a bit concerned. "Whatever it was, it sounded pretty urgent."

"Best to not keep them waiting then." Hector said as they all went up to the bridge and took their seats. "Time to see what the next situacion peligrosa is going to be."

"Just another day for the Guardians of the Galaxy." David said as punched a few commands on the control console, before speeding the ship forward. "Approaching the jump in 3...2...1!"

The ship entered through a portal and sped away to their next destination. Whatever adventure lies ahead of them, they'll face it together as a team, even if things get out of hand.

Which, with their track record, will most likely happen.

Hey everybody! Hope you enjoyed this new story that I bring to you!

With the success of my Mass Avengers Effect story, I decided to do a spin-off of it, but this one is going to focus on the future version of the Guardians of the Galaxy, in celebration of the third film coming out pretty soon.

Now, just like how I did it with Mass Avengers Effect, I'll only cut off the MCU timeline in this story after Endgame and Shang-Chi, every other aspect from Phase 4 and the current Phase 5 will either be ignored, or only tiny bits of it I'll make canon, with only No Way Home being completely canon in my story's timeline. So, depending on what occurs with the events Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will determine if I will make it canon to this story, if I'll only add a few aspects from it, or if I'll just ignore it. Either way, I'm looking forward to that movie coming out.

So, as you can probably tell by the title, while my version of the Avengers crosses over with Mass Effect, my version of the Guardians of the Galaxy will crossover with Game of Thrones. I find it funny and ironic that the superheroes that mainly stationary on one world are now in a universe about going on space adventures, and the team that love going on space adventures are going on a world and will become stationary. They won't make it to the Game of Thrones world until the chapter after the next one, but when they arrive, just like with the Avengers in Mass Effect, they're presence will definitely shake up the land of Westeros.

I hope you like the team that I've set up for this version of the Guardians of the Galaxy. I tried to make it as diverse and wacky as I could, with my own added touches to this team. Of course, we have children of a couple members the original team, with my own added OCs thrown into the mix.

That's all I have to say, for now, but I can't wait to write the next chapter, as I am having a lot of fun already, and this is only the first chapter. Stay healthy, stay safe, and I'll see you all next time!
