The twins stopped by Mario and Luigi, still napping on some lawn chairs.
"I really don't want to wake them," Olivia said.
"They do look pretty comfortable," Olly agreed.
"Could we head there on our own," Renoth asked.
"I guess."
"But brother," Olivia remembered, "they revoked us permission of using the teleporting beam thing! How will we get down? Or back up?"
"Livi," Olly chuckled, "did you forget I can fly? And Renoth has those wings."
"What, these old things?" Renoth flicked them. "They aren't for flying! At least, I don't think they are...I could be wrong, but I have never seen a single Toad lift even the slightest bit off the ground with these wings."
"I can carry us all. It won't be much work for me."
"Ah, we cannot leave from here. We need to get to a weak part of the cloud wall, then simply leap off."
"Jump?!" Olivia gasped. "From here?! What if Ol doesn't catch us?"
"'Ol?' That's new." Olly shook off the thought. "We'll be fine, Livi."
"Okay...But only since you promise."
Renoth brought them to the platform that first brought them up there. He leaned over the clouds and pointed at Sea Tower below.
"We can jump from here. The clouds are weaker where there is land underneath."
"Great." Olly raised his arms. "Now hang on."
He spun in a small circle, his Vellumental Magic Circle appearing beneath his feet. The colors faded to red and it became Seraphina's Magic Circle.
"Wait!"
The twins looked at the Toad.
"Not that one. The fire will be put out from a dive this high! And also, we can't ride on her."
"Hmm...He makes a good point. Renoth, was it?"
"Yes. What is it?"
"You didn't know about Lemon, right? So that means you've never seen her before?"
Renoth nodded. "I believe so, yes."
"Excellent. Livi, would you do the honors, or me?"
"You should do it! I wanna see you do it!"
"The guests have spoken!" The Magic Circle turned to Lemon's Circle. "Now, we'll be diving into the water, so you might want to hold your breath before we hit. Okay? I don't want anyone else drowning on me."
Olivia excitedly hopped up and down. "Go, Olly!"
He brought his hands into a circle, then clapped them together and moved them down to his face. "Oh, great Deity...Lend me your strength!"
"Wait, lend?!" Renoth yelled.
Olly smiled. "Yup. You're riding on me, Renoth." He pointed his hands down at the circle, it glowing a brilliant blue. "They kind of blocked my access to their power after I tried to fold the world, so I need to ask to use it now."
Renoth backed away a bit as Olly unfolded. He stood, open-mouthed in horror, as a purple scaled Water Vellumental stood towering over the both of them.
"Ahh, I forgot how much power the Bibliofolds held..." He shook his head and neck, his bangs messing up and crown nearly falling off. He flicked his tail and crouched down. "Alright, get on."
"Th-this is sacrilege!" Renoth stammered. "A mortal shouldn't be able to become a deity! How is this possible?!"
"I wouldn't think about it much," Olivia said, hopping onto Olly's back. "Plus, it's fun! I can do it to."
"H-h-how? How?!"
"Alright, up you go." Olly grabbed him in his jaws.
"Careful with him! Don't drop him!" Olivia reached for the Toad. "Pass him back here, but carefully!"
Olly handed Renoth to Olivia and waited until Olivia made sure he understood it was safe. "You ready? It's nonstop from here to Lemon's Shrine, so hang tight."
"Ready!"
Renoth grabbed tightly to Olly's folds.
"Aah! Careful! That's my body, you know!"
"Sorry, Olly..."
Olly backed from the edge, and dashed towards it at incredible speed. "Here we go!"
He leaped over the edge and dived straight to the surface of the water. Renoth and Olivia braced for the collision, but Olly glided over the water instead.
"Did you actually think I was going to go into the water? Ha! That would've killed you two! And I don't want soggy people touching me."
"Y-you tricked us?!" Renoth dug his fingers into Olly's folds again. "Don't do that! You scared me half to death!"
"Aah! I told you to stop that!" Olly's flight went off-course for a second, them heading back towards the water.
Renoth let go, and Olly flapped higher into the air. "Sorry!"
"You keep saying that. Whew, flying with wings is a lot more exhausting than just...flying. I guess floating comes so naturally to me, I never considered the cost of using wings. But they make me look cool, right Livi?"
"For sure! If only Bobby were here. He loved the Water Vellumental!"
"He never got to see the Fire and Ice Vellumentals, did he? Or was he there at the battle?"
"He was there, but he'd fallen asleep. He only woke up when he was dragged into that void..."
"Ooh! Toad Town!" Renoth hopped excitedly. "I always wanted to see this place! Ooh, that must be Peach's Castle! Can we get a closer look?"
Olly looked down at the town. The Toads were looking up at him, awe-struck. "I don't know...This mission is very important to Livi and I..."
"Please, Ol?" Olivia asked, moving closer to his neck to pat it. His folds ruffled.
"Ooh, that feels good." He stopped above the castle. "Eh, why not? I'm sure Olivia wants to see the Princess anyways." He flapped down to land in front of the castle. Olivia and Renoth hopped off.
"Are you going to fold back?"
Olly shook his head, smiling. "I'll just wait out here."
"Okay. Renoth! Let's go say hi to Peach!"
"Ooh, yes!" They rushed inside.
Olly straightened his seated position when three figures exited the castle. One was Peach, the other Daisy. The third one, however, was nobody he recognized. She wore a beautiful blue dress gold earrings and star shaped gem on her chest. The sleeves were long and loose, a small wand clenched in her hand.
As she drew nearer, Olly tilted his head. Her bangs were styled just like his, only they covered her right eye, and her hair a certain curly that Olly knew he most likely had-as Olivia and he were identical twins and her curls and his straight hair wouldn't have made sense.
She looked up at him. "Peach, you didn't tell me you owned a dragon. Such a mighty beast would have been mentioned before, no?"
Peach looked up next, followed by Daisy. "Huh? I don't own a dragon! Where did you come from?"
Olly took his chance and struck a pose. "Bow before my majestic beauty, mortals!"
"Wait a second," Daisy said. "I recognize those bangs! Olly, why are you a dragon?"
He was defeated, and sat back down. "I was waiting for Livi and Renoth to come back out." He flicked his tail. "But based off the fact that you are not in there, Princess, I assume they're just about to leave and see you and start having an hour-long conversation with you about...things."
"That was very specific. Anyways, this lady is Rosalina. She stopped by because she wanted to give you something. It was a gift for...'changing your fate for the better,' I think? She's hard to understand sometimes, but I'm used to it."
"Ooh, for me?" He walked in a small circle, then lied his head down. "Give it."
"Could you turn back from a dragon, really quick?" Rosalina asked, holding out a small box.
"Nope! I'm kind of having fun being a dragon. Plus, it'll take energy to unfold, then refold, then fly, then unfold again..."
"It's silver."
"Oh. I'll unfold." He folded back into his small self, then held out his hands. "Gimme."
"Now hang on, Olly," Peach said, walking between the two of them. "You'll need to be a lot nicer than that if you want the gift."
"But nobody's ever given me anything before!" He did a small twirl. "I feel I deserve it!"
"Olly, nobody will give you a gift if you act like that. I know you're still getting used to this 'I'm no longer a bad guy' thing, but I still expected you to be more polite about this."
Olly fiddled with his hands. "Sorry, Princess. I just got excited. I'll be more cautious in the future."
"That's the Olly I know." She ruffled his hair, squashing his crown.
"Princess, careful with the crown. It's my symbol of status."
"Right, sorry." She gave him a quick curtsy and went back inside the castle with Daisy.
Rosalina came over to him and smiled. "I heard a lot about you."
"Have you now? I'm assuming most of them were negative."
"Actually, no. I heard some wonderful things about you, even from the Toads."
"Wait, really? That doesn't make any sense..."
"They said many nice words such as you being a wonderful Origami Craftsman and how clever you were. Bower even mentioned that he was impressed with how strong you are. And he is hard to impress."
Olly tilted his head. "But...I did horrible, awful things! I don't deserve complements!"
"And one person, he said the nicest things of them all. He said he was proud of you. He said he loved you. He wished, of anything he could have, that you would have your own kingdom and be the kindest ruler you could be. Any idea who he is?"
Olly shook his head.
"It was your father. The Origami Craftsman. He believed in you the whole time. Olly, King of Origami, you have the most caring parent you could ever ask for. I suggest you take that to heart and pay him back for his kindness."
Olly beamed. "I guess that's true. I never even talked with him since the Origami Festival..."
"And you feel bad about it, no?"
Olly nodded, staring at the ground.
"Well, you shouldn't. He did break your trust, and taking some time to yourself is slowly earning your trust back. I can tell, because of how kindly you were treating that Toad, Renoth."
"You know about-"
"I know, because I and the stars are always watching over this world. You'll bring this world to balance with two others just like you. You will even help some of those who believed there was no hope for them."
Olly looked at his hands. "I will...do all of that? But how? I can't even protect my sister without losing control of my powers..."
"Because you don't believe you can. But someone will help you soon, so you have no need to worry." She placed a hand on his shoulder. "The stars take a favoring to you, Olly, King of Origami. They really trust that you'll save us when the tides turn against you."
"Princess was right, you are a bit hard to understand sometimes. Yet...I also understand it completely at the same time. Odd, but it's fine. Oh, since you know so much about me, can I ask you a question?"
"Go ahead."
"Do Livi and I...ever find out about what happened to Mani and Sandi? And what was with those hallucinations of Livi I was having before? She was trying to help me in them. They felt so real, like I was actually there with her."
"Yes, very soon. It won't be pleasant, but you'll know the truth. Those 'hallucinations' were caused by your want to be near the other. Your magic has a special connection to it, and therefore you two are connected through it. When Olivia was speaking to you, your response became her side. Like when you were discussing emotions. That's why she was trying so hard to talk to you."
"Oh...That makes sense, since I can sense powerful magics."
"I wanted to give you this, to let you know that the stars are always watching out for you." She held out the box. "I feel like you deserve a gift for your birthday anyways, even if it's a bit late."
"But what about Livi? Does she get a gift?"
"In time, she will. For now, she has the gift of having such a caring brother who will one day become a great ruler."
Olly accepted the gift. The wrapping was red with a silver bow to top it off. Olly removed the lid to reveal a silver version of the earrings Rosalina wore.
"There's only one."
"I may have lost the second one, but I can always have one of the Lumas to become the second one, if that's what you want."
Olly held it out, the sun glimmering off its bends. "No, it's perfect. But there's no clip, and I don't have ears."
"I thought of that beforehand and enchanted it. It'll float in place."
Olly held it next to his head and let go of it. It stayed. "Huh. This whole thing was very kind of you. Anything else I should know about this person who helps me with my anger and power control?"
"He will help you finally reveal your true self around others."
"True self..."
She folded her hands in front of her. "I have to head back inside now, but think about what I've said. And if you ever feel like you're alone, just know that there will be plenty of people who will help you. Always remember that. Have a good day, Olly, King of Origami." She curtsied and went back inside the castle.
Olly removed the earring and placed it back inside the box. "I'll save you for later."
"Olly! I thought you said you were going to wait as the Water Vellumental?" Olivia flew over to him. "Ooh, what's the box?"
"It's a gift. Hopefully, I won't need to use it for the comfort it brings." He shoved it into his folds. "Are you ready to leave?"
"Strangely enough, just as we were beginning to leave," Renoth said, coming closer, "Peach and Daisy entered! We were able to have a little conversation."
"That's nice. It's getting late." Olly faced Renoth. "Do you want to travel to the shrine today on my back, or wait until tomorrow?"
"The sooner the better. If we're lucky, we can finish exploring the book in during the night. We can go back to the Mario brothers in the morning, and they would never know you were gone."
"Alright. We should leave now if we want to get there in time." He refolded into the Water Vellumental.
"Olly, if you don't mind me asking, could you let me stay in Toad Town when we are finished with this?"
"Of course I'll let you stay. It's not like I have any control over who goes into that town or not. If it was the Origami Kingdom, however, you would have to ask about that."
Renoth hopped onto his back, Olivia floating on afterwards.
"Livi, I think you're strong enough to fly there on your own."
"But Olly, I can't fly like you can!"
"Olivia, you have the Water Vellumental, don't you?"
"But I can't fold without a Magic Circle..."
Olly walked off of his. "You can borrow mine. It still has power left. And you're flying the both of us back next time." He winked.
"Okay! That's fair!" She folded into the Water Vellumental as well. "Unlike Olly's, mine actually follows the proper colors!" She told Renoth.
"Mine is like a remix." He flapped off the ground. "And I just like purple, okay?"
"You're lucky there was no pre-stored water in the Vellumental this time, otherwise I would have sprayed you with it!"
"Why? What'd I do?"
"You know what you did! You bragged again!"
"I'm sorry my Vellumental designs look cooler!"
"Not the Ice Vellumental! You just look stupid then!"
"What was that?"
"Nothing."
"Take that back!" He charged her.
"Never!" She dashed away from him. "Last one to the shrine is a Goomba!"
"Oh, you're on!"
