Tempest slams her fist down on the table set up in a military tent. "I thought I told you to call the mayor so that the city could be evacuated!?"
"I did!" Grubber tells her as he makes himself a sundae. "Call the mayor anyway. But as soon as I told him why, he just laughed and hung up on me. Tried calling him several times after that but I think I was blocked."
The Acting Director rubs her temples. "This is not good. The Alpha's trajectory predicts that he will arrive here. If there are people still in the city there's no telling how many casualties there'll be."
The assistant was only half listening as he takes a spoonful of his treat. "Hmm. It's missing something."
"Here you go," a pink hand lifts a small jar in front of Grubber.
"Oh, ho, ho, ho! Sprinkles!" he accepts the offer and begins pouring it over the ice cream. "Now we're talking!" he starts to take another bite when he notices something. Turning his head, he is met with a head full of pink hair. "Uh, hello?"
"Hi! I'm Pinkie Pie!" the girl smiles at him.
The assistant waves, "Grubber."
Pinkie is then pulled away by Tempest. "How'd you get in here!?" she has a tight grip on the teen's arm.
"Oh, me and my friends were on a school fieldtrip, though, Rainbow Dash, one of my friends, insists on it being a vacation. We were on our way to figure out what to do when we saw the cool yet intimidating army cars, so we—"
The woman raised a hand silence the unexpected guest. "Your friends?"
"Ma'am?" a soldier speaks up as he walks into the tent. "We have some intruders." A couple more soldiers walk in escorting six more teenagers.
Tempest grabs the bridge of her nose and comments. "I had less headaches with my ex."
"Hey, Director!" Grubber tugs on the woman's coat, catching her attention and begins pointing at a couple of the girls. "Cotton Candy, Rainbow, Cowgirl, Flame. They match the reports from Junior Agent Sweetie Drops."
The Rainbooms look at one another and Twilight asks, "Who's Sweetie Drops?"
Tempest snaps. "That's a need-to-know basis! I don't even think she needs to know. Whose idea was it to make a rank for Junior Agents? She really needs a mental evaluation," the woman looks up at the soldiers. "Escort these…"
The ground suddenly shakes and blood drains from Tempest's face.
"Oh, my," Fluttershy trembles. "Was that an Earthquake?"
Instead of answering, everyone waited in silence until there was another shake.
After a few more moments, another shake is felt, and Twilight shakes her head. "I don't think so. It's rhythmic. Almost as if they're footsteps."
"Grubber!" Tempest turns to her assistant. "Did you not order the coastguard to inform us of any sightings? There's no way he should have gotten to shore without us knowing."
"I did," he nods. "But it was the same as with the mayor's office."
The Acting Director turns back to the soldiers. "Get these children to safety! Now!" she takes out a radio. "We need military assistance at my location. Tanks, Fighter Jets, bring me everything even the kitchen sink if you think it'll help!"
The soldiers escort the Rainbooms to one of their trucks as sirens begin wailing throughout the city.
Rainbow comments. "I still can't decide of this is awesome or bad."
"Rainbow, darling," Rarity leans in. "I highly doubt a military presence like this would be a good thing." One of the soldiers who were assisting the fashionista into the back of the truck glares at her. "Not that there's anything wrong with the fine men and women who protect us. I merely mean the circumstances of the situation."
The soldier shrugs as there were no argument against it.
After riding in silence for a while, Twilight decided to speak to one of the soldiers. "Are taking us back to our hotel?"
"We looked into it and we're afraid that your hotel is not in the designated Safe Zone."
"Safe from what?" the purple teen only received silence. Twilight then meets Sunset's eyes while gesturing towards the soldier next to the yellow girl.
Understanding, Sunset turns to the soldier. "I would just like to say that I admire your work and would like to thank you for your service," she holds out her hand.
The soldier looks at the offer hand before rolling their eyes before accepting it.
Sunset's eye glow as she receives a vison.
.oOo.
Within a room full of soldiers, a big buff man stands in front of a screen. "General Will has recruited you for this operation to be representatives of Monarch," he lifts a remote. "Monarch has prepared a brief presentation for General Will to show you," with a push of a button, a projector shines onto the screen. "This is our target."
An old video shows a bomb on a beach. Then to the shock of the soldiers, large, jagged spikes rise out of the water and just before the entire form could be seen, the bomb goes off and the video stops.
.oOo.
Sunset's eyes stopped glowing as she let go of the soldier's hand. "How could Monarch keep that from the public!?" she asks without thinking.
The soldiers glance at one another before one turns to the flame haired teen and asks, "How did you know that we're—"
Whatever was about to be said gets halted as the truck is turned upside down.
When Sunset opens her eyes, she sees that Applejack has assisted the last of the soldiers out of the truck.
The Rainbooms are now looking around as many of the people are now running.
Fluttershy shakingly asks, "What is everyone running from?"
Then, the shaking started back up. This time, much more intense and more frequent.
Rainbow, who is looking up, points. "Probably that!" and her fellow Rainbooms look at the direction.
Applejack lets out a "What in tarnation!?"
Lumbering from behind the buildings is what the girls could only describe as a massive dinosaur in appearance. Almost black in color, standing up right, with thick muscular legs, a long tail, and running down its back are rows of jagged plates. It looks down at them briefly before letting out a roar.
SKREEEOOOOONNK!
Sunset gawks at seeing this thing in person. "It's the Alpha."
