Ghoulish beginnings
it was another sunny Summer day in shadehaven, but near the Grimwood school it was looking rather dreary, and Outside in the front yard of the grimmwod Mannor, The grimwood girls were all relaxing Near the Tall dead oak tree, all of them were hanging out with there new Human friend wilbie, who was asking many questions about the ghouls, many things he always wanted to know about them, and the ghouls seemed to rather enjoy the attention they got from him, having never had someone have such an interest in them,
so With that they took great joy in answering his questions, such as sibella answering why she wasn't phased by the sun like vampires he had read about in his comics or seen in movies .to which she said, that over the years vampires had adapted to sunlight at a much better tolerance, though it still didn't do much good to their skin compared to other ghouls
" Though this being one of the main reasons I wear this long robe like dress, not just for style, but because it helps keep the sun off my defecate skin, " she said smoothing out her purple robe, " plus, They make a special sun block for vampires now in the ghoul community I hear " sibella said with a finger on her chin
" wow, I would have never guessed. well it's a good thing it wont turn you into a pile of ashes, " wilbie said said with a a chuckle, " so how about blood ? don't vampires drink that, ? " he said a little unsure and eyeing up sibella's sharp fangs,,
" well I have heard some still may, though most no longer do that, its quite frowned upon in the vampire community these fact my dad has raised me on a blood free diet, " she said nodding and reassuring " I have never even had a drop of blood in my life, these fangs are just for looking pretty now " she said rubbing one of them with her finger,
winnie rolled his eyes a little,,as wilbie turned to her,
" so..how about you winnie, something that just popped into my head last night, do you see in colour ?, or in black an white ? " he asked,
" huh, ? what kind of question is that, of course I see in colour " she said rubbing her head,
Elsa then leaned over to her and whispered " what I think he's getting at, and this is something I read before,some canine species are thought see in black and white, and you being a werewolf and all " Elsa stated with a smirk,
" oh huh, " winnie said placing a claw on her chin, looking as though she just discovered the meaning of life.
wilbie just sheepishly shrugged at her with a little grin
tanis let out a small giggle now . " got any questions for me." she said innocently,
wilbe began to ponder for a moment, " let me think, oh yeah, is it possible for you to create and army of insects using your mummy cursing powers, or create giant raging sandstorms that can blanket the land for miles ? "
Tanis Just looked at him like she had no idea how to answer that..." Uh, I uh, i'm not sure, " she said, her voice trailing off on confusion, " I do think I have a box of scarabs from my parents around here somewhere ? " she said rubbing her chin
" he he he, " phantasma giggled in her high pitched laugh, " just imagine our sweet tanis, having the ability to do things like that ! " she laughed, and patted her on the head,
to which she giggle in delight, " it is a funny thought really "
wilbie then stood up and stretched his arms, " ya know I had been interested in ghouls my entire life, well as long as i can remember, but regardless there was so much i wanted to know about them, and lucky me an am able to find out because you guys, there are so many amazing and interesting things I never even thought of about ghouls, "
the girls all appeared to look flattered by that statement,
" aww gee, it's nothing, we are who we are, nothing special about that," Elsa said chuckling,
" say lets all head inside, Miss grimwood should be serving toadstool tea soon,, " sibella said getting up,
" Oh boy, i'm parched ,I hope she also made some Moldy fungus fudge to go with . " Tanis said rubbing her belly,
" same here, " winnie said with a howl,
all the others then stood up and started to make there way too the school,
" Toad stool tea ? moldy fudge ? " wilbie thought to himself as he began to walk towards the manor with the other girls. he didn't like the sound of that, specially after his first time having lunch here,
" wait , there is still more i want to know about, aagh ! " wibie was then cut off as he had tripped over something and crashed onto the ground,
the others spun around when they heard that. they saw wilbie laying on the ground in a daze. he had tripped over a small hole in the ground..
" oh my wilbie are you alright ? " sibella said as they came over to his aid..
" yeah i'm fine..just..who on earth dug up and left this whole here, ? " he said rubbing his knee,
all the ghouls then turned to winnie with glares...
" what don't look at me. I swear I didn't do it. " she said defending herself,
" and why is there a volly ball in there ? " wilbie said reaching in to the hole and pulling out the Ball,
just then he heard the sound of something snarling at him, he glanced over to his left and saw Matches, there small green Dragon glaring at him and growling..
" oh, hey boy, is this, yours ? " he said holding out the ball towards him..
Matches then snarled again letting a puff of smoke emit from his nostrils..he took a few steps closer and bared his teeth,
wilbie nervously laughed as the green dragon began to glow a light red, wilbie new what this meant and was not going to stick around to let the dragon do his intentions.. he yelped as he quickly jumped up and darted behind the ghoul girls.
Matched then started chuckling and snorting small puffs of smoke as he did...
" Matches ! you cut that out now, you know your not supposed to try and torch our guests or friends . " sibella said crossing her arms and scolding the dragon..
matches looked up at her and huffed in annoyance,
" I Don't care if you didn't mean it..or was just messing around..you no better, " sibella said sternly, " now you stop a once, "
matches mutter to himself , he then looked over at wilbie and stuck his tongue out..
" and another thing, what did miss grimwood tell you about burying the Volly balls in the ground, ? " she said sternly,
matches didn't look at her and groaned to himself..he then looked up at her and mutter something that sounded like he was trying to say he was sorry. he then got on all his fours and began to walk away..when he passed by Wilbie who was peeking out from behind Elsa, he let out a grunt as he blew a puff of smoke at him for proceeding to walk off,
" oh that matches..always such a hot head " phantasma shook her head,
" he's really a nice dragon when you get to know him though, " tanis added,
" whats his deal with me anyway.. " wilbie said scratching his head..
" oh don't worry about him, he just still upset that you tried to steal the Dream holder book and you jammed a bucket of water on his head, " phantasma said giggling,back to the event that had happend only about week ago now.
" um...well it wasn't like I had a choice, specially when you have an evil witch controlling your mind " wilbie said pointing to his head..
" ah don't worry. matches will warm up to you soon, hes just being a sweet sour head, he'll soon love having you around I bet. " Phantasma said patting wilbie on the head,
" now if only we can get him to stop burying these things all over the yard, that greedy dragon will bury just about anything he can get his paws on,, " sibella said holding the ball in her hand,
wilbie looked at the ball for a moment then at all the girls, he then got an rubbed his chin, looking like he had an idea, he the spoke up, " say, you girls really seem to be fond of volley ball, with telling me about how you always play against the calloway cadets once in a while,. tell me..how did you girls get into such a sport ? " he said sounding intrigued
" oh, you want to know about that do you, it's a rather funny story, " phantasma giggled,
" oh yes..it goes back a while back when we first all met, " sibella said looking as though she was reminiscing. " you remember it don't you winnie ? " she said eyeing her up with a smirk,,,
" what..of course I do I Just don't think we need to bore him with any more stories. " winnie said sounding as she was trying to avoid the topic,
" but it's a fun story, and it tells how we all met, I think he'd want to hear that for sure, " Tanis said
" Yeah, it really plays a big part in that. "Elsa nodded, " we should tell him, "
" um uuh,, are you sure...do you really want to know ? " winnie said looking over at wilbie who nodded eagerly
" of course I do...I mean who wouldn't want to know what formed your friendship. " he said,
winine then sighed..." fine...if you want to but let me tell you, it's nothing special " she said crossing her arms.
elsa then spoke up next, " okay then, lets tell him all about it then, we never shared it with anyone else before, so this should be interesting, "
soon all the girls sat back down in order to tell wilbie there story of how they first met and got into the sport of volley ball,
wilbie sighed and then smirked, knowing his planned had worked, he not only was avoiding having to taste toadstool Tea, but was now getting to hear a bit about the ghouls past as well,
" well were to begin,..it was actually a few years ago I Believe now, back when the Grimwood school was having it's largest number of attendant's " sibella said thinking back,,,,,,
Three years earlier...
it was a crisp morning at the grimwood school, bats could be seen flying around the tallest tower of the mansion, as the sun began to creep over it, casting an eerie yet calming glow over it, the bats soon took cover Isside the rafters as it did,
inside the sun began to creep the rough the windows as well, allowing for natural light to fill the corridors which had windows along them.
as soon as the sun had completely shined over the school, a zombie looking rooster sitting top of one of the school roofs began to crow signaling that it was now morning to anyone who could hear it,
inside her room, which was neatly done and looked well taken care of, was sibella, whom was resting inside her coffin like bed, with its. Cover open , she was
resting peacefully until the crows of the rooster invaded her slumber,
she opened her eyes and let out a yawn before she stood up and got out of her coffin, and was ready to prepare her self for the day ahead, but before she did she nearly made her bed before doing so,
she then slipped out of her night gown and slipped in her purple dress and red heels, before sitting down at her vanity table to to brush her hair,
once that was done she then got to work on brushing her fangs until they were a sparkling white,.
once that was all taken care of she stood back and admire herself in her mirror, which only reflected her dress and shoes...
" ah, simply fangtastic to look is great morning, never a better way to start the day, "
she said nodding during rubbing her chin,
" ooh, and still five minutes until breakfast, I should have plenty of time to reorginize this room, " she said looking around,
...
elsewhere in another room, Elsa was seen fully awake and down on her hands apparently looking for something,
" come on were is it now ? " she said as she shuffled things around,
she then stood up on her knees, and itched her head, " hmm, maybe it rolled under the chemistry table, she the began crawling over it and looked under, how ever did. Or see what she was looking for,
" drat, I can't go about my day with out it, "
she said rubbing her.
Chin, she then snapped her fingers, " oh I know we're it oughta be, "
the then hen stood up and bumped her head in her table, she grumbled as she rubbed it and crawled out from under it
she then went over to her bed, and took a hold of it and lifted it high above her head allowing to see what's under it,
she the beamed when when she saw what she was looking for, one of her neck bolts was missing and must have rolled under her bed when she was asleep,
she reached down and picked it up in her hand and began to screw it back into place in her neck,
once she did small sparks of electricity then shot out as she placed her bed back down, and jumped up,
" oh man does that feel great ! Now I'm ready for the day ! " she said as she made her way over to her door and headed out,

in phantasma's room she was seen still sleeping, how ever she floated a few inches above her bed as she did,
she was woken by the sound of the undead rooster suddenly screeching from inside like it had been lit on fire ,
she opened her her eyes and giggled. " sounds like matches it awake now as well, "
she then stretched as she hovered out of bed, she quickly got dressed out of her PJs and into her traditional blue dress,
" well I better get down to the breakfast room, " she said with a giggle she then simply allowed herself to float down floor and down into the second floor, were she made her way into the breakfast hall,
once every student that had gotten ready for the day, they all made there way over to the. Breakfast hall were they would all await the Morning announcements from miss grimwood,
down there, everyone was gathered around the long dinning table. , at least 15 students all together, chatting could be heard amongst them as they waited to have their morning meal served to them by the butler octopus named temptacles,
which that dish would be a plate of small poison ivy salad with a pair of large fried spider eggs on the side,
Elsa walked around the table and looked for a place to sit and enjoy her meal, she then smiled when she was an opening in front of her on a bench, she then went over to take it, the spot was in between a couple of zombies twins who were busily chatting up a storm,,she stepped over the bench right between the both of them, causing for them to jolted up a little by her force and strength of her sitting, they then were slid closer to her by her causing the bench to have a slight incline in the middle,
" Hey, mind if I eat breaskfest right here, " she asked cheerfully,
" oh., no not at all, " one of them said in a sarcastic tone,.while the other just huffed,..
phantasma giggled as she slowly floated over the table, she plucked up a plucked up a rotten crab apple of the centre of the table and took a bite out of it, the piece fell right threw here and landed on a ghouls head, much to there annoyance,
" he he sorry, " she said as she floated gently down into a seat, " she then took another bite of her crab apple with a cheeky grin,
Back up stairs...
sibella who was just finishing up the final touches of Her bedroom clapped her hands together to get the dust of them and then stood back to admire her work,
" well that about does it,looking even better then before if I do say so myself , " she then looked around and giggled. funny sense she was in fact alone... she then looked over at a clock on her wall and saw that it was now 8:30 am
" oh dear it appears I will be a little late for breakfast, better hurry ' " she said as she quickly transformed into her bat form and quickly flew her way Down to the dinning hall
Sibella flew down into the dinning hall and quickly turned back into her vampire self, where she then made here way over to he other students and took a seat at a table , she took in the aroma of the breakfast that was soon being placed in front of her,
" smells great huh. It was actually my idea to have this served for today, " a cheery voice said next to her,
sibella then looked over to See another ghoul sitting next to her, Leaona, who was almost human like in appearance, save for the light blue skin and sparkles of scale like flesh she had, she was a tall and slender with long brown hair, her clothing consisted of a long slim gothic blue dress that almost looked as though they were made of fish scales themselves.. the reason for that being , she was what one would call a Siren of the sea or also a sea witch ,, but now, like many of the other ghouls, she was a very kind and civilized person..well as far as ghouls standards will go
she was also the closest person sibella could call a friend, she had known her for about a year, ever sense she first started attending the school,
" I feel like those unfertilized spider Eggs build a greater amount of protein then rotten chicken eggs," Leaona said digging her fork into her dish,
sibella smiled and nodded in agreement, . " well they certainly smell much better as well, " she then picked up her fork and prepared to dig into her dish herself,
leaona chuckled at her statement" they certainly doo, I admit, I'll miss having nice home cooked meals prepared for me after I graduate from Here," Leona said taking another bit of her salad.
" yeah, I can't believe it's only a few months away, it's going to pass by so fast, " sibella said stirring her fork in her salad " and truth be told. I'll miss you being around, "
" i can say the same for you and all my other friends I made, but hey,, maybe you should volunteer to be head of the breakfest menu after I leave, I think you'd be great for that, sense I know you love to cook a lot, " leaona said trying to cheer her up a little,
" perhaps , " she said sounding a bit unsure, but also,fond of the idea, she was about to speak up when suddenly conversation was interrupted by the sound a small gong being rung,
everyone soon stopped chattering and turned their attention to the Front of the room,
Miss grimwood was seen standing there while temptacles was holding her mini gong his tentacles,
miss grimwood wood then cleared her throat as she began to speak,
" good morning my youthful minds, I hope you are enjoying breakfest, sense I have quite a bit of good news for you today, .
No one said anything as they all just listened on to what their headmistress had to say,
" ooh, new news ? this should be interesting " phantasma said cheerfully with a mouth full of salad. the got the attention of some of those sitting near her,
Miss grimwood chuckled a little, the began to speak again, " alright my ghouls, first thing is first, I'd like to inform you, that we will be having a fresh mind d be joining us from now on today, for I am talking about a new student has been signed in, " she stated,
everyone just looked a one another and some shrugged at others, not sure what to make of the new student they have not seen,
miss grimwood spoke up again, " Now I'd like you all to welcome them with open arms, sense we are to make everyone who comes here, feel accepted and right at home, " she then motioned for someone to enter into the room. everyone turned their gaze over to the door as they saw someone walk in,
" say hello to Winnie the werewolf, she is the wolfmans daughter, " she said as a young werewolf causally walked in like it was no big deal of being announced into a room full of new peers,,..in fact..she almost looked as though she didn't even appear to care, or even seem interested in the slighted,
" good morning to you Winnie, I hope you are ready to start your first day here at the grimwood finishing school, " miss grimwood sound in an optimistic matter, " I'm sure your eager to meet all the others as much as they are to you, "
winnie looked up at the mistress and shrugged, " yeah sure.,,whatever " was all she said, in a Tone that didn't seem to eager or...optimistic,
miss grim wood smiled then looked around..then back at the werewolf, " um well then, why don't you take a seat and help yourself to some breakfest, okay ? " miss grimwood said panting her on the shoulder,
" alright, sure thing " she said shrugging again as she began to make her way down the aisle,
with many of the students watching as she passed, seemingly judging her,
" i thought werewolfs were energetic and full of life, " a ghoul whispered to another,
winnie however paid no attention to any of them and took a seat down near the back, she placed her foot paws up,on The table and sat back with her arms behind her head in a relaxed manner,
" ooooh a werewolf, never had one of them around here..at least not in my time being here, , " phantasma said to some other ghouls who were sitting at her table, they just looked at her then continued to eat their breakfest.
sibella looked over and observed the werewolf who was picking up some fried spider eggs of her plate and dropped them into her mouth which she began chewing sloppaly,
sibella raised an eyebrow , " well would you look at that, already she's showing signs of poor mannerisms," she said looking over at Leona,
" well...she is a werewolf, It's natural for them to be a bit rough,,and after all she just got here...and well,,,she probably loves my fried spider eggs ," she said a little proudly at the last Statement.
sibella just looked a little unsure at the werewolf who she could see cleaning her ears with her claw...
" eh, your probably right . besides, I've never gotten to know one before, My dad never had gotten along with them that well, but that never stopped me from wanting to try,"
as winnie sat back and scooped the last bit of the egg's into her mouth, she then notice Phantasma peeking her head through the table, she then floated up all the way in front of her,
" Hi there, I'm phantsma, I just want to say it'll really nice having a Werewolf attend the school, I here they don't get a lot, " she said extending her arm in in a friendly gesture,
winnie twitched here ear a little, seemingly not sure what to make of the ghost girls open armed attitude,
" uh...yeah thanks, its um..nice to be here I guess, or what ever " she said with a slight sarcastic tone,
" oh but it will, this is only your first day, just you wait, there is tons to do around here, " phantasma said with a almost to excited grin, one that creeped out winnie a little,
Miss grimwood then spoke up once again getting everones attention,
" now, now everyone, we need to go down what needs to be said, " miss grimwood said pulling out a long sheet of paper and began looking through it.
" you see, the school is in need of starting and athletic program, we'd actually be the first ghoul school to do so in this formula and if this goes well, they'll start expanding this program to others, " she informed,
" as being so the first,, we have been assigned of starting up a sports team of a Random selected sport, which will be selected out of a draw, you see I had taken over a hundred sports known by both ghouls and even of human,
there was a slight mutter from the student's at the mention of humans,
' now then, I'll be taking the draw from that cauldron over there," She said pointing over to a small black cauldron she had paced on a table, " I will take a card out from the pot, and on it will. Be the sport that is selected. Once it is picked, we will be assigned a school with the same sport being played, " she said,.
" Matches. Bring me the pot, " she called out,
The small mall green dragon who was busy picking up scraps of food on the floor from the ghouls quickly stood up and Saluted, he then mad his way over to the cauldron, he hoped up onto the table and gripped in it in his tiny paws , he then hopped off the table and began to make his way over to. Miss grimwood,
how ever as he did, his foot had caught onto a cracked floorboard casing him to trip and throw the pot into the air, it soon came landing back down on top of his head sending wads of cards flying all over the place,
this got some of the students chuckling as one of the cards flew over to miss grimwood
" ah, Thank you matches ," she said kindly as she took the card in her hand, she looked down at it and read the sport on the card,
Matched just grumbled and huffed smoke as he poked his head out from the pot,
miss grimwood then cleared her throat, " alright , the sport will be...Volleyball ." She said looking over the students,
Many of them began to mutter to themselves and amongst one another,
" oh yes, volley ball, now that is a nice sport I hear, I bet it will be real fun to teach, " Miss grimwood said cupping her hands, " and with that, we will now be having a sports team be formed to represent our schools athletic program,
" volley ball ? um Isn't that you know, more of a human sport miss grimwood ? " Elsa then spoke up, sounding a little unsure,
miss grimwood then turned to her and smiled softly, " oh my dear elsa, it was a sport invented by humans indeed, but it has been adapted by ghouls over the years. so it won't be no trouble to learn, and besides, it will be fun, "
elsa rubbed her chin and shrugged " I suppose your, right, " she how ever looked a little unsure,
" I think it'd be fun to try out for a sports team and play such a sport, and even if I don't make the cut, I always wanted to be a scream Leader ! " phantasma exclaimed
miss grimwood chuckled at her enthusiasm," well don't you worry, you'll all get a chance to try out today, cause right after school, we'll be having those tryouts in the backyard,, so I please ask that you will come and do so, now I leave you to finish your breakfast, I have some important things to go over until the first class,
with that, miss grimwood left the students alone to enjoy there meal, and to wonder, what will happen next with this new course they had been given the option of trying out...
Later that day...
In miss grimwoods headquarters,
Phantasma sibella and elsa were all sitting quietly on three chairs in front of miss grimwoods Desk, each on of them had been sought by Temptacles and escorted over to her office without any reason given, the ticking of a grandfather clock was all the sound that was made in the room,..each ghoul apparently had nothing to say to one another,.
they just sat there in quietness and occasionally giving awkward glances at one another, it had been almost 20 minutes, yet felt like an eternity ,,
finally phantasma spoke up and broke the science, " Gee..I wonder what we are in for...I never been in trouble before " she said in a cheerful tone, yet one that seemed a bit playfully sarcastic,
" I mean sure i played a few pranks on other student's every so often, but that does not explain why you'd be here. "
Elsa then crossed her arms, " well I know I did not do anything, if this is about another broken bed frame, I swear it was not me this time, or causing another explosion in the chemistry lab "
sibella chuckled a little, " I certainly know she has no reason to be crossed with me either. i have not done anything that I can think of as being worthy of being sent to the office,, there has got to be another reason she'd call us in here,
" wait ,what if we were all framed for something we did not do ? " phantasma said, with her finger on her chin.
" hmm..now who would go and do something like that.? "
as the ghouls ponderd there reason for being brought here, they soon heard the door handle turn, and then open,
they all turned there heads to see miss grimwood entering the room, she walked by without saying anything to the girls, but from what they could see, she didn't look like she was upset about anything, in fact she seemed to be sporting a rather cheery grin,
she the took a seat at her desk in front of the ghouls, folding her arms down neatly in front of her,
she then spoke to them with the question they had all been wondering,
" So, I bet you girls are wondering why I had to brought here, " she said with a slide head nod,
" Miss grimwood, are we in trouble or something ? " sibella asked shortly after
" oh no my dear, I will reassure you that you are not hear for any trouble you think you caused, "
there was a sigh of relief amongst the ghouls,, feeling better knowing that they were not going to be punished for anything,
" No not indeed. I actually have you brought here for something, important, something I will ask you, and wish for you to consider. " Miss grimwood said in a very cheery and optimistic manner, with a slight hint of seriousness in her tone,
" and...what may that be ? " Elsa said raising an eyebrow in curiosity
" well this has do do with that sports team I talked about this morning, you see,...I am having those tryouts in a bit,..and well I was hoping you three would consider attending, "
everyone expect for Phantasma looked unsure about that Idea,
" really. that's great. I was hoping to try and make the cut of the team,! " phantasma said excitingly
" Um, No disrespect Miss grimwood, but why would you want me to attend, I 'm not much of a sports player, " sibella stated.
" yeah I agree, same can be said for myself, " Elsa said as well,
Miss grimwood chuckled a little, " now just you hold there, I would not have asked you to come here if that where not true, " she began to explain,
" you see my ghouls. I have specially selected you because I had found something in each of you that I think would be perfect for the sports team, "
" like what ? " Esla said sitting back in her chair with her arms folded.
" well..you for example. you have shown a great amount of physical strength, something that could be really handy when it comes to athletics, " Miss grimwood stated,
however Elsa shook her head, " I'm sorry miss grimwood. But that's why I left my passion to play sports with others, with being stronger then most others it comes off as uh, too easy. " she said looking down at the ground, " so I decided to follow my true passion, and that is working in the art of Mad science, "
" AW but elsa. I think you'd have what it takes, we could crush anyone with that force..well not literally, but we'll always come on top. " Phanastma said floating up behind her and placing her hands on her shoulders.
" and that's why i have selected you phantasma, the Team could use someone with such, well spirit,. " she giggled a little at the last statement, she then turned over to sibella.
" and you my dear. well i know you say you aren't much of a sports player, but what i see you, is someone who can keep the team organized , on top of things, and well,...be a leader, "
sibella winded her eyes a little at that thought, she never pictured being a leader of anything, much less a Volly ball team,
" gee, i'm flattered. but...really miss grimwood, I don't think you'd want to consider Me, " sibella tried to conceive
" ah but I do my child, I think you'd be perfect for the team, I really do, please I ask you to to consider it, I ask all of you, i see some special qualities in all of you, " she said with a tone that was reassuring. " just come to the tryouts, and lets see what you can do, " she ended with a Nod.
" well you'll see me there for sure, I'm ready to get my volley ball On ! " phantasma said floating up into the air, "
miss grimwood chuckled at phantasma's enthusiasm, " well that is definitely the spirit I'm talking about, well I'll hopefully see you girls later then, please think about it, " miss grimwood said before dismissing the girls, who got up and left to think about what they had just been asked,
phantasma seeming to be the only one with a defiinate answer of the bunch,...
" can you believe it, she thinks I should tryout for the team...the volly ball team, I mean do I even look like volly ball material to you ? " sibella said as laid back on her friends bed...
leona was busily seen packing up a bunch of her belongings into her bags,
" well if miss grimwood thinks you are...there has got to be a good reason for it, the women knows her stuff, maybe you should just trust it, " she said with an uncertain voice.
" yeah but, but I just don't know...tryouts will be happening soon, and she'll be expecting me to show up, you really think I should go ? "
" hey..consider yourself lucky..you get to at least trout for the sports team, i'll be leaving in a couple weeks , i'll never get the chance to at least do that myself, " Leona said placing her bags down, having finally packed the last important thing,
" i know it may not sound like your sort of thing, but I advise you, at least check it out before it's too late, I mean hey you may even enjoy it,. getting the chance to be apart of something new to this school, thats a great thing all on it's own . "
sibella looked down, she had to admit, her friend was right, this was the first time this school has ever done a sports team, and if she did try it out, she'd be one of the first to be a part of it, and miss grimwood was a smart witch, she always knew what was best for them, and if she really thought she should try this out..well she had to at least trust her on that,
" hey to make it better. how about I go and watch you at tryouts, after all, I wont be getting to see how the sports team will go after my graduation , " Leona suggested
sibella then sat up, " well...if you really want to, "
" but of course girl,, it'd be fun, and after all I could give some moral support " Leona giggled,
" well there already is Phantsama who is apparently really good at that it seems. " sibella rolled her eyes in a joking manner,
Later at the tryouts,
Leona sat on some wooden bleachers in the back schoolyard as she watched all the ghouls and her friend sibella try out for the volley ball team,
" alright my ghouls, you are all hear to tryout for the sports team are you not ? "
miss Grimwood said walking along with matches who followed her, in front of the those who had showed up for the Volley ball tryouts, most of those were made up by Elsa phantasma,sibella and winnie, the others being only three other ghouls,
they were all in the back yard of the school, standing by a volly ball net that had been made from spider webs,
" well, I am honored and excited that i get to teach such a fine sport to such fine youths of today,.and I am betting your just as excited as I am, as this is going to be a first for all of us," miss grimwood said pacing back and fourth.
" Alright so as you may know, we have been selected to participate in the ghoul school athletic program of sports. and with that, we are to start a Volley ball team and compete against a rival school. now in order to make the cut for the team, " she then looked over at the small number of ghouls in front of her, and then awkwardly rubbed her head. " we'll need to select at least five out of those trying out, " she then laughed a little awkwardly as well,
" but anyway, no matter what happens, your all going to be winners to me, and i'll be proud of all of you who had participated, " she cupped her hands together, " now lets get to it shall we, " she then made her way over to the other a side of the volly ball net,
sibella then turned over to see winnie the new werewolf standing next to her. " so your winnie are you ? so tell me what brings you here ? " she says trying to start a friendly conversation
" hmmph. well I thought I'd just show anyone here how to really play sports, after all back at my home, I was considered to be the most athletic in my family, "
" ooooh, I bet that's saying a lot for being a werewolf, I hear you guys are very agile, " phantasma said excitedly
" well I don't mean to brag, but I sure knew how to put the loser in there place. " winnie said looking proud,
sibella rolled her eyes, " oh great don't tell me she's one of those narcissists " she thought to herself,
" I could win any sport i was placed into, so i figure, why not start my time off at this school showing those what I am capable of " she said placing her thumb on her chest,
" the names Winnie, winnie the werwwolf if any of you didn't get that earlier at breakfast," she said with a sly grin,
" well,, ah..nice to meet you winnie, I'm Elsa frankinteen, she said extending her hand out, to which winnie accepted with her own,
winnie felt the tight grip she held it with and winced a little, she then pulled it back with a awkward laugh, "
" well then, allow me to introduce myself, I'm sibella Dracula , count Dracula's daughter. " sibella said introducing herself next.
" Dracula huh, well aint that a grand title. I bet you must feel proud of that, " winnie said,
" well it can have it's perks " sibella said placing her fingers on her chin,
" and we already met at breakfast ! " phantasma said wrapping her arm around winnie shoulders and giggling,
" so what...are you all friends or something ? " winnie said crossing her arms and raising an eyebrow over at phantasma
everyone just looked at one another not seeming to know what to say,
Elsa was the first to speak up, " well...we just happen to know of each other a bit, we never really interacted that much until today, on the count of this whole volly ball thing, "
" heh , so i guess im not the only one here entirely knew to you then huh " winnie smirked and chuckled a bit,
just then miss grimwood called out over to them, she was seen holding a volly ball in her hand, " alright my ghouls, it's time we all start the try outs, " she said holding up the ball,
" what were going to do here is, I's i'm going to toss this ball over to you, and your going to try and do your best to hit it back and over this Net, " she said with a nod, " does that sound simple enough,
everyone nodded in agreement,
" great then now let me go over the best ways to strike a ball back, "
with that Missgrimwood began to go over the basics of how to hit ball when it is coming towards you, she even began to go over how to serve a ball when its ones turn to do so. so after explaining those instructions she had once of the ghouls step up to the front, that being winnie who seemed eager to step right up,
" ah yes winnie, nice that you'd join us, specially just being a new student " miss grimwood said cheerfully, " now just do as I said and you should have no problem hitting this ball, "
" I'm not worried at all, nothing to to sweat, just watch me send that ball into the sky, " winnie said with confidence,
" you got this winnie ! " phanatasma cheered
The others just looked on as winnie took a stance,
miss grimwood chuckled as she prepared to serve the ball to her, and with in a moment, she had sent the ball flying towards her, winnie got into a stance as she watched the ball draw closer. and with once swift move she struck the ball with her Paw and sent it flying back into the air,
winnie let out a loud howl as she watched her ball fly over the net not even touch it a bit,
" a-ooooooh ! now that is what I'm talking about, that is how it is done ! " winnie said jumping up and down,
" very good winnie, " miss grimwood said in a proud tone, " Matches would you please go and fetch that for me ? she said as the little green dragon nodded and ran off to find the ball, "now who would like to go next, ? how about you elsa ? "
Elsa looked around and then sighed, " well...alright, here goes nothing. " she walked over to were winnie was once standing, and prepared herself,
" go on ! you can doo it Elsa ! " Phantasma cheered again loudly
" believe me...i know I can " she said not sounding too enthusiastic,
" that's the spirit ! " phantasma yelled back then giggled
soon matches came back with the ball and looked at it with greed in his eyes,
" now, now matches, Give it here. " Miss grimwood said holding her hand out,
Matches looked at her then down at the ball, looking as though he did not want to give it up.
" come no matches..hand it over now . " she said a little more sternly,
matches groaned as he held it out while looking away, miss grimwood took the ball in her hand and then turned back to Elsa, " alright my dear, I'm sure your ready now . "
" More then you ever know . " she said shutting her eyes.
" alight then, here you go . " miss grimwood said as she served the ball right at her..
Elsa warched as the ball soared at her, Elsa sighed as she then swung her hand at it striking the ball with great and powerful force...
there was a loud sound which was like thunder clapping...it echoed all around the school yard catching a lot of the ghouls off guard..
no one barley had time to notice the ball rocket across the field. it tore through the net and smacked right into a tree. impeding itself inside it...
everyone just stared in disbelief with their mouths gaping open, , winnie, phantasma, sibella, and leana who was still watching from the bleachers,..even miss grimwood looked to be in shock by this,
everyone then heard the sound of something groaning as well as the sounds of many cracks, soon the tree which the ball was stuck in began to collapse over and and crash onto the ground, causing everyone to stare in silence
" what did I tell you, my strength is a bit, overbearing is it not ? " Elsa said rubbing her shoulder
" whoa...that was ineradicable !" winnie said still looking stunned,
" now that is really what I'm talking about. ! " phanatasma yelled.
" I have...no words..that is some force, " sibella said,
" well, my my, I had no idea that was what your capable of, I certainly was choosing the right ghoul to be try and be on my team,, " Miss grimwood said patting a hand on her back,
" so...your not upset with this ? " elsa said raising an eyebrow,
" upset ? no my dear i would never be, that strength of yours, it's something you should not be ashamed of. "
" but..but it makes playing sports so...simple, and what if I were to accidentally harm someone with it, "
miss grimwood placed a hand on her shoulder, " now I understand your concern for that, but really, all you need to do if you feel that way, is reel it back a little, try not to use so much force, getting ones strength under control can allow for it to be used in many great way, " she reassured her,
Elsa pondered for a moment then looked back at the other..." well...alright then...I'll do it, count me in if you will, " she said folding her arms and nodding,
" Now that really is the spirit ! " phatasma exclaimed
with that being done, the ghouls continued to go about there day with the practice of volly ball, they had the Net patched up by there spider servant Named legs. and elsa herself had to get the ball back out of the tree sense no one else was able to, miss grimwood then began instructing them on every lesson she could give to them, and for the most of it, the girls were starting to get the hang of it. at least that could be said for sibella, winnie , Elsa and phatasma,. though out of all the ghouls, sibella could have worked on her aim better, as she sent a majority of the balls out of bounds,
so near the end. it was time given to sibella to work on her aim, so there she was, standing up at the front line, getting ready to serve the ball for the 18th time in a row,...
" come sibella, I'm rooting for you girl , you'll get this, ! " Leona shouted from the bleachers as sibella stepped up to serve the ball,
" alright sibella, you can do this, your a Dracula, your dad is the greatest vampire in the world, so you should be able to serve a simple Ball, " she spoke to herself,
" hey don't trip now, " winnie shouted from the side,
sibella looked at her annoyingly and then focused back on her serving,
" don't worry sibella, you can do this, just aim and focus,, " Miss grimwood told her,
sibella looked at her and nodded. " alright I got this, this is all on me. I will not mess this up," she took a deep breath and held the ball out in front of her ready to serve it,...she eyes up the ball then looked ahead..and then she served it, she let go of the ball, and let her arm hit it with much force...
and before she knew it, the ball went flying towards the net, it then collided with it, and bounced right off it, and swung back at her, sibella eyes winded as she ducked down and dodged the ball as it wen flying right over her, it then smacked into a tree and bounced off
and ricochet off it, and straight into the bleachers where it smacked the unsuspecting Leona in the face,, it then bounced off her and rolled down the bleachers..
Leonna sat there in a daze, she could feels the starts swirling around her head..." oh. good serve sibella..." she said dizzily before collapsing onto the ground..
sibella just stood there with her hands over mouth not saying a thing...then winnie could be heard trying to hold in her laughter as well joined by matches as was also who was snickering...
" sibella just sighed and groaned...knowing things did not go as bad as she though...they were much worse...
