Lee and Kenny returned to the motor in a couple after trying to scavenge supplies for the group. Ben is keeping watch, sitting in a chair on the RV. Ellie is talking on her radio, but runs up to Lee when she sees him. "You're back! Ben found some stickers in a drawer, and I put 'em on my walkie!"
"Hey, sweet pea. That's neat, I'll find you in a minute."
Lee knocks on the doorframe of the open door to Lilly's room. Lilly opens the door all the way to speak to Kenny and Lee.
"Looks like we got the kid on watch again," Kenny said.
"What'd you get?" Lilly asks as Lee gives his rifle to her and takes the pistol that she hands him.
"We might as well leave out a sign that says "the men are gone, come and rape our women and children"," Kenny stated.
"Ha," Lilly said, sarcastically. She sets the rifle down on her dresser. "So, what did you get?"
"A lot of stuff," Lee replied.
"We're fine, by the way..." Kenny said.
"Nice work. This will keep us going. If we carry on like this, we'll get through the winter here."
"The winter? We'll freeze our asses off here!" Kenny exclaimed.
"Because piling into an RV with you, after what you did to my dad, is so appealing."
"Why wouldn't it be? You know I'll do what it takes to keep everyone safe."
"We're already safe."
"Take a look at the wall, Lilly. That's not graffiti, those are bullet holes. And we got enough arrow shafts sticking out of it to dry our laundry. And that's all beside the fact that Macon is busting at the seams with walkers.
"We don't have walker problems," Lilly said.
"We have to go eventually, Lilly," Lee said.
"I know, Lee, I know. Eventually is different."
Carley walks up to them. "At it again, are we?"
"Can it, Carley," Kenny replied.
"Don't boss people around," Lilly said.
"I'm sorry. Somebody needs to make executive decisions for the group though, and I don't think you're capable anymore."
"And don't start with me, either."
"We're strongest together," Lee speaks up. "I know you think I'm on her side, but there are no sides, damn it."
"What about the food situation? What about protection? What about when this place falls? Somebody's gotta be thinking about this shit," Kenny said.
"How has this not been working? We have everything we need."
"'Cause of me, Lilly."
"No, because Lee knows how to take care of people, not just things."
"We deal with shit as it comes, just like we always do," Lee spoke up.
"And when fifteen bandits hop over that wall in the middle of the night? What then? You're just gonna deal with that?"
"Everything that happens to us is another excuse for you to pull this crap about leaving. All I want is a week of peace; of not hearing it."
"Do you know how we got these supplies?" Kenny asks "Your pal and I got lucky and let a girl get eaten out there."
"What?" Katjaa asked in shock.
"Some girl came screaming out of an alley. She had dead hanging all over her. She gave us enough time to get everything we could out of the drugstore," Kenny explained.
"You just let her suffer, like what, like bait? God, what is happening?" Lilly asked.
"You weren't out there," Kenny stated.
"You guys couldn't try to save her?" Carley asked.
"Don't take that tone with him. It's the first smart thing he's done in a while."
"Glad to know you think being a killer is smart," Lilly said.
"Hey, if you don't agree with it, then we'll take everything we've got in these bags and put it in a pile marked "no hypocrites" and you can use everything else."
"She was dead anyway. It made the most sense in the moment," Lee spoke up.
"Lee's right," Kenny agreed. "We've been putting our lives on the line doing these runs into the city. You wouldn't believe the shit we see."
"We all appreciate it, Ken..." Katjaa said.
"You should be thanking Lee for not shooting that girl."
"It's not so easy for him," Lilly said. Carley glares at Lee, before walking away.
"Look, Macon and its people aren't saveable. It's not a town, it's full of walkers. and the people who were left are dying and wandering out onto the streets. It's hell on Earth, and it's coming this way."
"It's not gonna be easier out on the road!" Lilly raises her voice.
"How would you know?"
"What I know?! I know you're not above murder! I know somebody has been stealing our supplies! That's right, stealing, and I know the list of people I can trust here gets smaller every day! Now, everybody get out!" Lilly says with her voice still raised before closing the door.
"She'll get over it," Lee said.
"She's riling everybody up, otherwise."
"You understand, Ken," Katjaa said.
"All I know is whenever this shit happens, I'm the fucking bad guy! I'd like a thank you for once. For once!" Kenny said before walking away with Katjaa following him.
Carley is standing close by listening to the conversation, before walking closer to Lee. "Oof. Things are coming to a head."
"You could say that."
"Well, I think you did good today. And I find myself thinking that most days."
"Thanks."
Carley touches Lee cheek. "It's probably worth following up with Lilly about what she was saying about missing supplies. With her wound up the way she is, I don't wanna see her paranoid."
"No question."
"And I'd like to talk, when you've got a minute." Lee nods and Carley leaves, Lee watches her walk up the stairs and they exchange a glance at each other.
He walks to Lilly's room and opens the door and enters the room. Lilly is sitting on the bed with her head in her hands but looks up when he approaches her.
"I'm sorry," she said.
Lee sits in a chair opposite her. "You don't have to apologize."
"Did you come in here to give me hell or to coddle me?"
"I wanted to follow up on what you said about stolen supplies."
"Do you know what's going on?"
"I don't, I just heard you mention it."
"Things are missing and I could use your help. There's a traitor, somebody, one of us, out there. He or she or they have been taking things."
"For real? Who? What do you got?" Lee asked, leaning forward on the chair.
"Yes, for real. And I don't have shit. I just know."
"Lilly..."
"The count's off and it's the good stuff. Antibiotics, oxy, fuck, anything with opium in it."
"I see the count and it's fine."
"I keep my own. That one's getting messed with. I'm a fucking mess right now but I'm not stupid. I know what happens if I start a witch hunt."
"So you want me to start one?"
"I want you to poke around."
Lee shakes his head. "What's there to go on?"
Lilly reaches under her bed and pulls out a large broken flashlight, which she hands to Lee. "I found this tossed into the garbage."
Lee examines it. "Hmm."
"We don't toss out equipment. We fix it. You'd only try to get rid of a flashlight if you were using it when you shouldn't."
"Okay. I'll poke around a little bit."
"Thank you."
Lee exits Lilly's room. "A mystery!" A voice says behind him. Lee turns around. "Jesus, Duck!"
"I'm sorry, I heard you guys talking."
"You need to un-hear all of that."
"Can I help?"
"What did I just say?"
"You're the greatest detective and I can be Dick Grayson! Your ward! That's Robin."
"I know who it is," Lee sighed. "You can help. Don't tell anybody."
"Secrecy!"
"Yeah. Good."
"What do I do?"
"I don't know. Go look around. Let me know if you find anything weird."
"I'm on the case!" Duck said before running off.
Lee notices an X drawn with pink chalk on the wall near some broken glass. The broken glass fits that flashlight that's broken. Lee also sees chalk drawings on the ground, some of it was made with pink chalk. He looks at Ellie, who is currently using chalk.
Lee then goes up the stairs to speak to Carley, who is leaning on the railing of the balcony. "Talk to Lilly yet?" She asked.
"Yeah. She thinks supplies have been walking away."
"Really?"
"There's some broken equipment too. I'll look into it."
"Thanks for doing that," Carley pauses for a moment. "What I wanted to say was, I've been thinking a lot. About you."
"I think about you too."
"Our group is small."
"You're small."
"You're a convicted killer," she announced.
"Carley, Jesus..."
"And I think people should know. Not because they deserve to and not because you're a bad man. I think the opposite of those two things. People need to know because we're hanging by a thread here and I can't see Lilly talk about you without thinking it's the next thing she's going to say. You don't have to tell everyone, but think about who you trust and take the opportunity while you have it."
"You're probably right."
"Of course I'm probably right," Carley said. "People might be pissed. And telling them might cause some trouble, but it will be a far cry from what'll happen if they don't hear it from you."
"Yeah."
"So you'll do it then?"
"I'll let people know. You're totally right."
"Good. I think it's for the best."
Carley kissed Lee's cheek and whispered in his ear. "Don't call me small."
Lee leaves to talk to some of the others. He walks back to Lilly's room. "Hey," he said, as he enters the room.
"Find anything?"
"I need to tell you something."
"Sure, go ahead. but if it's bad news, maybe save it?"
"I killed someone, before all of this."
"Shit."
"What?"
"Dad said there was something about you."
"So you know."
"I didn't know what to know."
"Well, it's true and I'm sorry."
"He treated you like shit, knew who you were and you tried to save his life. The last thing you need to do is apologize," she takes a breathe. "You killed a guy, so what? I bet he was a dick."
"Well, it ruined my life."
"Good thing everyone else's got destroyed shortly thereafter, huh? Misery loves company."
Lee leaves Lilly's room once again and walks over to where Ellie is. She is sitting on the floor, using a pallet as a table while making art.
"Hey, Ellie."
"Hey, Lee."
"What's that you're working on, Ellie?"
"Look I drew a spaceship!" Ellie said, holding up her drawing.
Lee smiles. "That's really something. You didn't accidentally break a flashlight, did you?"
"No, did Duck say I did?"
"No. Did Duck break the flashlight?"
"I don't think so. He's just always blaming me for stuff."
"Like what?"
"Putting a bug on his pillow."
"Did you do that?"
"Yes."
"Look, I need to talk to you for a second."
"Okey dokey."
"Before I met you and before the plague, I killed somebody."
"Oh. So that's what..."
"Yeah, that's it. It was a bad thing and there's no explaining it."
"Why are you telling me?"
"Because I didn't want to keep it to myself anymore. Do you have any questions?"
Ellie shakes her head. "You can go on back to your things," he tells her.
After Lee told more people about his past, Duck stands by the RV and motions Lee to go over to him. "Psst, Lee. I found something."
"What is it?"
Duck holds out a piece of chalk. "I found this piece of pink chalk and a scuff of it over by the gate!"
"Really?"
"Totally! I was combing the scene for clues and-"
"Yeah, Duck, I got it. Good job."
Lee and Duck go over to the gate. Duck holds up his hand for a high five. Lee gives him a high five. "Cool!" Duck said.
Lee moves one of the dumpsters and walks out the gate. He finds a grate in the side of a wall and opens it. In the alcove behind the grate there is a brown paper bag. Lee takes the bag out and opens it, discovering that it's filled with medicine. "Son of a bitch..."
Lee returns to Lilly's room to tell her what he has found. "You haven't come up with anything, have you?" Lilly sighed.
"I came up with this," he hands Lilly the bag. "It's got a bunch of meds in it. It was in a grate on the outside wall and there's a sign on the other one."
"Holy fuck."
"Yeah."
"Okay. We line everybody up. Everybody. Somebody is killing us. Stealing from that supply is the same as slipping into your room at night and cutting your throat while you sleep. You die. What is the difference? What if Ellie gets sick and we don't have what we need?" Lilly looks out the window. "What the hell?"
"You don't fucking steal from us!" Someone shouted.
"Who the fuck is that? They've got our people out there!" Lee says, as he looks out the window.
"Y'all better get your asses out here! We ain't fucking around!" The person shouted.
The bandits have infiltrated the motel. They line everyone up on their knees with their hands behind their head.
"What do we do? Lilly?"
"Oh, shit!" Lilly grabs her rifle. "They're gonna start kicking in doors any second!"
"Lilly, what the hell are you...?"
"Stall them."
"What?"
"Just keep them talking. Do whatever it takes to stop him pulling the trigger!" Lilly said, before she climbs outside the bathroom window.
"You made the biggest mistake of your lives!" The person shouts.
Lee sighed. "Shit."
"Enough of this bullshit! Drew, start putting your boot to these doors!" The person said.
"Yeah!" Drew shouted.
Lee walks out, his hands raised. The bandit aims his gun at Lee. "Hold it, asshole!"
"Take it easy..." Lee said, calmly. "We have more supplies. We can keep the deal going."
"Too late, shithead! We ain't giving second chances!"
"It was a mix-up! We'll make it worth your while!"
"I'm listenin'."
"What will it take to reach a deal?" Lee asked.
"About twice as much as you've been giving us!"
"You got it! Done!"
"Is that so? Well, I suppose we oughta hash out some terms, then."
"I don't like no hash," another bandit spoke up.
"Man, shut up or I'll-" Lilly shoots the leader in the head.
"Christ!" a bandit shouted.
"Oh, shit!" Ben, Katjaa, Kenny, Duck, and Ellie run away. Carley grabs the leaders pistol and shoots two bandits. She runs out of ammo and runs away to find cover. Lee takes out his pistol and tries to shoot a bandit but the bandits makes it to the other side of the gate and whistles to alert the other bandits to run out of the woods. The bandits start firing at the group and two of them move the dumpsters away from the gate.
Ben is hiding behind a pile of furniture and tries to run over to Lee but a bandit fires at him and misses, hitting the window behind him. Ben dives to the ground and returns to his hiding spot.
Kenny, holding a rifle, runs out of a motel room. "We gotta get out of here!"
"No shit!" Lee said, sarcastically.
Kenny hands Lee the rifle. "Get those bastards! Cover our people and get them to the RV!"
Lee starts shooting more bandits, helping Carley and Ben to the RV. Katjaa, Duck, and Ellie are crouching behind some furniture. Walkers start attacking the bandits. Lee shoots more of the bandits. Ellie runs over to Lee.
"Katjaa, hurry! Come on!" Lee shouted.
Ellie gives Lee a hug. "Lee!"
"Ellie, get inside the RV! It's gonna be okay. Go!"
Ellie gets inside the RV. As Katjaa and Duck try to run to Lee, a walker knocks them over and tries to bite them. Lee shoots it, and Kenny runs out. "Kat! Oh, Christ!" Kenny shoots the walker with his pistol. He helps them get up and runs to the RV. Lilly is still firing at the bandits from the balcony.
"Lilly, get in the RV!" Lee shouted.
"Screw her! Let her stay!" Kenny said, as he tries to start up the RV.
"Shit!" Carley jumps out and draws her pistol. Crouching at the other end of the RV, she fires at the bandits as Lee does the same. Kenny gets the RV working and Carley runs back inside.
"Lilly, last chance! Get down here!" Lee tells her.
"Shit," Lilly runs to the RV and jumps in. Kenny drives away, killing several walkers and breaks through the fence. Katjaa sits in the front seat, cradling Duck. Both of them are covered in walker blood.
"Kat! Jesus, are you okay?" Kenny asked his wife.
"I'm fine, I'm fine!"
Ben is holding his head in his hands. "Oh, shit, oh, shit, oh, sh-" he looks up. "I'm sorry."
"Everything's fine, Ben," Carley reassures him.
"Everything's not fine. We need to figure out how this happened. We just lost everything," Lilly said.
"Well, we're lucky as shit to have this RV!" Kenny said.
"And nobody died," Carley added.
"Kat's head is split open!" Kenny said.
"I'm fine!" Katjaa quickly said.
"Somebody in here caused this," Lilly stated.
"Settle down back there, the bandits have had our number for weeks!" Kenny said.
"This is different. Somebody was working with them. Whoever it was was slipping them our meds. They didn't get their last package, so they attacked," Lilly explained.
"Calm down back there! That's nuts!"
"Lee found a bag of supplies hidden outside the wall!" Lilly tells the group.
"It's true," Lee replied.
"So, Carley, is there something you wanna say?" Lilly asked.
Carley rolls her eyes. "Please."
"We have to get it out of you, then?"
"Back off."
"You're in no position to make demands."
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, you're just pointing fingers."
"I didn't just come up with this, I've had my suspicions."
"Probably not the best time, Lilly!" Kenny spoke up.
"If not now, when? Look at what just happened!" Lilly raises her voice.
"Carley's trustworthy. She's not a traitor, Lilly," Lee said.
"Thank you, Lee." Carley said, in appreciation.
"She can fight her own battles. Unless there's something going on here that implicates you both," Lilly said.
"Don't be ridiculous."
"Like, look, maybe we should, uh, vote or something like that," Ben suggested.
"Vote? What?" Lilly asked.
"Just, look, Carley's a stand-up gal and maybe this was all just a mistake," Ben replied.
"We need to look at the facts. Let's calm down, we'll eat and we'll deal with it," Carley said.
"Lilly, stop waving the finger at everybody. We know something's going on and we can get to the bottom of it if we keep our heads," Lee said.
"I know what we found."
"I know, Lilly. I know," he said softly.
"Nobody was stealing anything!" Ben said.
"Was it both of you?" Lilly asked.
"What?"
"I've seen you two together. Was it both of you?!"
"Look, just let me out. I didn't do it, but I don't like this; I don't like where it's headed."
"Look me in the eyes and tell me you didn't have anything to do with it."
"Lilly, lay off of him," Carley said.
"I-" Ben tries to say something but the RV runs over a walker that gets caught beneath it. "Shit!" Kenny shouted.
"What's going on up there?" Lilly asked.
"I hit something, we gotta stop!"
"Alright, well, we can deal with this now, then."
Kenny pulls the RV over to the side of the road. "Kenny, is it safe?" Lee asked.
"Should be," Kenny replied.
"Everybody out." Lil,y ordered.
"Lilly..."
"Out."
Everyone but Katjaa and Duck exits the RV. Lilly crouches down and sees the walker caught beneath the RV. "Kenny, the RV has some surface damage but there's a walker trapped underneath," she reported.
"Goddamn it. Everyone, keep your eyes peeled." Kenny tries to pull the walker out. "Fucking thing ripped in half!"
"You know what, we shouldn't just kick you out, we should hear what everybody thinks," Lilly said to Ben.
"I think you should chill out," Ben replied.
"I'm not gonna take this. You can push Ben around but you can't push me around," Carley retorted.
"I'm really sorry you feel that way. I'm starting to think maybe it was both of you."
"No!"
"Gah, this dumb-fuck walker!" Kenny shouted.
"You okay over there?" Lee asked.
"Yeah, yeah. Son of a bitch."
"Ben, you have no other options here." Lilly said.
"Leave him alone," Carley said.
"You can tell me it was Carley and then everything will be right as rain."
"There's no way it was Carley. It was somebody else. It could've even been someone sneaking into our camp." Lee thinks.
"That's ridiculous. That's what you think?" Lilly asked.
"Yes." Lee simply said.
"Okay, fine, then. Kenny?" Lilly asked.
"I don't know, fuck! Just stop, would ya?!"
"Well, your vote counts for you and Katjaa."
"We don't need all these votes! What do I have to do for you to trust me? I'll do anything! I'll- I'll do watches for months!" Ben rambles nervously.
"Ha, the hell you will."
"I'll get more food, more medicine, anything, just-"
"You think any of that is good now?!"
"Just let me stay, please! God, please!"
"Stop panicking! Seriously, Ben! You need to stop and just take a breath!" Lee said.
"Do we need any more evidence than this?!" Lilly demanded.
"Fuck evidence! Stop treating him like this!"
"Shut up, Carley! I've heard enough out of you! Kenny, what's it gonna be?" Lilly asked.
"Just gimme a damn minute!"
"Ben, you have until that walker is dealt with to tell me it was her and not you!" Lilly said.
"Stop this. You're torturing him!" Carley said.
"This is about trust, and I've never trusted you."
"Tell her. Just do it, Ben."
"Lee, Jesus! Who are you right now?" Carley asked.
"Tell her what?! She'll kick me out of the group!" Ben said.
"We won't. We'll understand," Lee assures him.
"Tell me. Now!" Lilly demanded.
Kenny successfully was able to pull the walker out from under the RV. "There! I got 'im."
"Please, let's just get back in the RV," Ben begged.
"That's not happening," Lilly said.
"You think you're some tough bitch, don't you? Like nothing can hurt you, but you're just a scared little girl. Get the fuck over it. Take a page from Lee's book and try helping somebody for once," Carley said.
Kenny stomps on the walker's head, killing it. He then approaches the group. "Now, what the fuck's the problem?"
Lilly shoots Carley in the cheek. Lee grabs Lilly's wrist and slams her against the RV. "Drop it." Lilly lets the gun fall from her hand.
"Holy fuck..."
"Kenny, what's happening?!" Katjaa asked.
"Keep Duck away from the windows! Jesus Christ! Get in! We're leaving this crazy bitch!"
"She couldn't be trusted, Lee. I swear. Please," Lilly stated.
"You're not coming with us," Lee decided.
"I'll die out here!"
"I don't care."
"You're a murderer, Lilly! We can't have you with us!" Kenny accused.
"Murderer? Lee's killed before and I forgave him. You've killed before and I'll forgive you! We both know we do what has to be done!"
"Bullshit, you will! You've been planning to get me this entire time!"
"I was trying to protect all of us! I don't have anything left."
"Get in, Lee. Let's go, you guys," Kenny said. Everyone gets in and drives off; a walker approaches Lilly, and she runs away.
"Lee, a word, please?" Katjaa called from the front of the RV. Lee walks to the front of the RV. "What's up? Is Duck feeling alright?"
Katjaa lifts up Duck's shirt to reveal a bite mark on his stomach. "What the fuck?" Lee whispered.
"Happened during the raid." Kenny explained.
"What's the plan? Lee asked. "We've never had a bite victim in the group before."
"I'm going to keep an eye on him and see what I can do, from a medical perspective," Katjaa said.
"We keep the same plan unless something changes. East," Kenny said.
"Guys..."
"What else is there to do?" Katjaa raises her voice. "We thought you should know."
"Important to stay honest with each other," Kenny said, looking at Lee.
"Anyway, if you could tell Ellie, we would appreciate it," Katjaa said.
Lee nods before walking towards Ellie who is sitting on the couch. He sits next to Ellie and puts his arm around her. "Duck is bitten," he tells her. Ellie looks up at Lee. "Huh?"
"He got bit by a walker trying to escape the motel," he explained.
"I don't feel good. What about Carley?"
"There was no time for a burial," he explained.
"Walkers?"
"Yeah. Horrible," he replies. "I'm glad I have you."
"Me, too. I heard you outside my treehouse that day and thought about dropping a hammer on your head."
"Hmm. That's nice."
"I didn't, though."
"Thanks."
After several moments of silence, Ellie groans. She looks up at Lee, but she is now a walker. She attacks Lee and he tries to push her away. "Ellie! Fuck! What happened?! Holy shit! Get off of me!" Lee wakes up in the morning and sees Ellie next to him, asleep and alive. He realizes that it was all a dream.
"We got something up ahead," Kenny warns.
Lee gets up and Ellie lies down on the couch, still asleep. Lee goes up to the front of the RV.
"Damn it. Road's blocked. Now we gotta deal with this," Kenny said.
The RV pulls to a stop in front of a railroad crossing with a train stopped in the middle of the tracks. Lee, Kenny, and Ben get out of the RV and approach it.
"Is there any way to get around it?" Ben asked.
"Doesn't look like it. On foot, maybe. Can't really afford to do that now," Kenny answered.
"This seems like a safe area. All this brush will stop anything from creeping up on us," Lee said.
Ellie steps out the RV, wearing a backpack. Katjaa holds Duck's hand as they both climb out of the RV as well. Ellie looks over at them sadly.
"Why don't you and I go look around?" Ben asked Lee.
"Yeah, everyone else relax. Ellie, stay close to Kenny and Kat, okay?"
"Lee, if you come across anything to drink, if there's a dining car or something, I think Duck's a bit dehydrated," Katjaa said.
"It's a freighter, hon," Kenny corrected her. "Be careful in there."
"What, you think there might be something dangerous inside of an abandoned locomotive? Hadn't crossed my mind," Lee said.
Kenny, Ellie, and Katjaa, cradling Duck in her arms, sit down on some logs nearby the train. Ellie sets her backpack down next to her. After exploring the the train, Lee finds water for Duck and a map of where the train goes.
Lee and Ben go to the front of the train in the cab where they see a walker sitting in a chair. Lee drags the engineer off the chair. He notices the missing chunk of his face and the bloody, cracked window at the front of the cab. Ben pushes an orange blinking button that makes the train squeal. Kenny enters the cab happy that the train is working.
Lee goes to detach the train, once he's back in the boxcar, a man appears behind him. "You touch any of my stuff?" the man asked.
"I took the map of the train routes."
"That's fine, you can have that."
"Really?"
The man points to his head. "Yeah, I got 'em all right up here... I guess it's no worse for wear. Name's Chuck. Charles, if you're fancy."
"Lee."
"That your crew outside?"
"Yeah."
"And the guy up in the cab?"
"Him too."
"I saw you walking through here and thought about scaring the pants off of you."
"What?"
"But I couldn't force myself to do it."
"You're still kinda freaking me out."
"Train folk'll do that. Already met everyone outside; they all warmed to me right quick in direct sunlight."
Lee and Chuck leave the boxcar. Chuck sits down on the log, with his guitar next to him. Ellie walks up to Lee. "You met Chuck!"
"Yeah. I did."
"It's so nice to meet someone normal for a change," Katjaa said, still holding onto Duck.
"He gave us candy. Ben, too!" Ellie said. Ben looks up from the candy bar he's eating.
"Welcome." Lee greeted Chuck.
"Thank ya."
Everyone gets on the train, Kenny and Lee enters the train cab. Lee uses the throttle and the train moves along the track. Everyone except Kenny sits in the boxcar. They all notice Duck's worsening condition.
"Got to be hard on ya, eh? Three adults taking care of three kids, no disrespect, son," Chuck said. Ben frowns at this.
"There were more of us," Lee mentioned.
"Dead get 'em?" Chuck asked.
"No."
"Ah. Livin' got 'em."
Duck suddenly coughs up blood. "Lee! Lee. I need you. Right now. I need you to go get Ken," Katjaa said.
"What's...?"
"Would you get that off his face? My hands are full here."
Lee picks up the rag on the floor and wipes the blood off Duck's face.
"He's out of time. We need to stop this train."
"Okay."
Lee walks over to where Ellie is sitting. "I'm gonna go get Kenny. Hold on tight in case the train stops fast."
Lee heads to where the train cab where Kenny is. After trying to convince him to stop the train, Kenny eventually listens. He pulls the throttle and the train stops. He steps out of the cab and goes to the boxcar, where Duck is lying on the floor with Katjaa nearby.
"Ken, it's... I think it's time," Katjaa whispered.
"The boy's been bit. In case you haven't figured that out," Kenny explained to Chuck. Ben and Chuck cross their arms, looking sad.
"What do you need?" Lee asked.
"I... I..."
"Katjaa?"
"It's time to... this is not possible."
"What are we gonna do?" Kenny asked softly.
"We can't allow him to become one of those things."
"But what if... what if he doesn't?"
"Kenny, I love you very much. I love our son more than life itself. I need you to hear me. What you are saying, that he may not turn, is foolish."
"But-"
"No."
"There's... come on, Kat..."
"If you think of one, let me know."
"Isn't there some sort of pill, or something we can just give him..."
"Stop it."
"He can just drift off to sleep, right, hon? I mean, Jesus, this is our son."
"I know. But we know it's..." Katjaa points to her head. "Here. Or nothing."
"Well, fuck. Just... who, then? You want me to?"
"You don't have to."
"I'll do it."
"No. You don't have to."
"Katjaa, fuck, I can. I can do this."
"You can't. I love you, Ken. But this is beyond you."
"I'll do it," Lee spoke up.
"No. It should be a parent," Katjaa said.
"No parent should have to do something like this," Lee commented.
"Lee's right, Kat. We can say our goodbyes and... just let that be it," Kenny agreed.
"I don't know... Lee, you'd be doing this family a great service. Why don't we take him into the forest? So Ellie doesn't have to see... Give us a moment to say goodbye?"
"Of course."
Katjaa picks up Duck and Kenny follows them into the forest. Ellie watches them as they leave. "What's happening?"
Lee kneels down to Ellie's level. "Duck is dying."
"I know. What are you doing?"
"I'm putting him out of his misery."
"Oh," Ellie looks down sadly.
"Yeah... Look, Ellie. Things will-" a gunshot is goes off in the distance. "What the?"
"No!" Kenny shouted in the distance.
"Ben, take Ellie into the train! Go, it'll be fine," Lee tells Ben.
Lee runs into the forest where he finds Duck sitting against a tree, still alive. Katjaa is lying on the ground after shooting herself in the head with the gun nearby. Kenny holds her body and cries. "Kat! Kat! Katjaa! Why, Kat? Honey, oh, fuckin' God! You said you could do it, Kat. Goddamn it! You said you could do it!"
"Oh, my God..." Lee whispered.
Kenny brushes his hand over Katjaa's face to close her eyes. He picks up the gun and approaches Duck. "What do we do?"
"Give me the gun, Ken. I'll do it," Kenny complies and hands Lee the gun. Lee aims the gun at Duck and shoots him. They leave the forest and head back to the train. Everyone gets back on and they start moving again. Ellie is sitting on the edge of the boxcar, with her walkie-talkie beside her. Lee sits next to her. "You want to talk?"
"Uh-uh."
"You understand what happened?"
"Yes."
"Okay. What are you thinking about?"
"What Chuck said."
"What'd Chuck say?"
"That what happened to Duck would happen to me."
"The fuck? He did?"
"Swear."
"Sorry. I'm gonna go talk some sense into him."
"Don't be mad."
Lee heads to the front of the train and joins Chuck. "Hey."
"How ya doin'?" Chuck asked.
"I don't care what reasons you had for doing it, no reason to go and tell my girl she's gonna end up dead!"
"'Cause she is. I don't know much about you folks, but I can tell you, sure as the sun's gon' come up tomorrow, that y'all keep going on like this and that girl ain't gonna make it."
"What do you know?"
"I know that you don't have a goddamn plan. We get to Savannah and then what?"
"We find a boat."
"You think that's a new idea? You got even the foggiest idea 'bout where you're gonna find one of those? Look, sit down with the girl and hash it out. Find a map for Christ's sake, I'd give you one if I had it. And if something were to happen to you..."
"It won't."
"If it were, you gotta prepare the girl. Teach her to use a weapon, and for criminy, cut that hair."
"Like a gun? Are you kidding me?"
"What? She's too young to handle one? There ain't too young, not anymore. You gotta consider her a living person. That's it. You're either living or you're not. You ain't little, you ain't a girl, you ain't a boy, you ain't strong or smart. You're alive. Look at her hair. Find some scissors in my pack and take care of that hair before a walker does it for you. And then show her how to use a gun, because like it or not, that's what saves your life from here on out... I don't mean to tell you how to do your job, but too many people have died already..."
"They have."
"And seein' another little girl die might just do me in."
"I hear you. A plan, a haircut, and a gun. It's good advice."
"It's something."
Lee goes into the train can and takes a map of Savannah then heads back to the boxcar. Before he enters Ben speaks. "It was me."
Lee turns around confused. "Huh?"
"I was the one giving the bandits supplies," Ben admitted.
"What?" Lee asked. He walks up towards Ben.
"It's all my fault," Ben responded.
"What for? Why the hell would you do this?" Lee demanded.
"They said they had my friend, that he was with them. By the time I realized they didn't, it was too late. They said they'd kill me. Kill all of us. I'm sorry, Lee."
Lee shakes his head in disappointment before heading back to the boxcar where Ellie is sitting at the edge. "Hey, Ellie."
"Did you talk to him?" She asked.
Lee sits down next to her. "I did, he had some, uh...he explained himself and made some good points. Look, we're not going to let anything bad happen to you. But there are some precautions we have to take."
"Okay, yeah, that makes sense."
"Don't worry, sweetheart."
"Okay. What should we do?"
"Well, we're gonna figure out a plan for when we get to Savannah, teach you how to protect yourself, and, uh, tidy you up a little so you can't get grabbed so easily."
"I'd like that."
"Good."
Lee stands back up. "You need to know how to protect yourself."
"Like hiding or running away? Got it."
Lee takes out his gun. "I mean with one of these. First, don't be afraid of it. It's just a thing." He cocks the gun. "But know where your finger is all the time. And don't put it on the trigger unless you want to hurt somebody."
Ellie takes out her switchblade. "I have my switchblade that I can use to protect me."
"There's gonna be a time when you'll need to use a gun though, sweetheart," Lee hands Ellie the gun and she takes it. "Okay, okay."
"See, it's not scary."
"It's heavy."
"You'll get stronger. To aim, you look right down the top, through that notch. Line up the sight at the end with your target."
"Is there anything else I should know?"
"I know these are just bottles, but you have to aim for the head."
"I know. Only the head."
"Unless it's not a walker and it's someone trying to hurt you."
"And then?"
"Head or body. Anywhere."
"I don't wanna think about that."
"You're right. It might be a lot for your first day. You ready?"
"Yeah, I'm ready."
Lee sets a bottle on the crate. Ellie aims the gun. Lee goes behind Ellie. "Good. Don't lock your elbows." He adjusts her arms. "Okay, let's take the first shot." He covers her ears. "Squeeze the trigger smoothly and I'll cover your ears. Nice and easy."
"Nice and easy," Ellie repeated. She fires the gun and misses. She lets out a squeal.
"You okay?"
"My hands hurt. I don't like this," Ellie complained.
"Let's stick with it, okay?" Lee encourages.
"Do I have to?"
"Yeah, you do," He covers her ears again. Lee tells her where to aim and she was able to hit the bottle.
"I got it!" Ellie exclaimed.
"Excellent, good shot!"
Lee sets up another bottle. Ellie fires and misses the bottle. Lee tells where to aim and she hits the bottle. "There you go, nice!"
Lee sets up another bottle. Ellie fires and hits it first time. "I did it!"
"Yeah, you did! Good job!" Lee praised.
"I just pretended they were walker heads."
"Good, just like you should."
"They're not walkers, though."
"No, far from it. But you know how these things work now. We'll graduate you to walkers one day."
"Okay. I feel good."
"Not so scary, huh?"
"Nuh-uh," Ellie returns the gun and Lee puts it away. Ellie sits back down. "My hands hurt and my ears have noise in them. Like, eeeeeeee!"
Lee takes out scissors from chuck's bag and sits back down next to her. "You'll get used to it. What a crappy day."
"The crappiest," Ellie agreed.
"If I'd have known what you'd be seein', I don't know if I would've taken you with me."
"I was running out of food and was probably going to starve."
"You damn near starved with me."
"I'm glad I came with you."
"So you're probably not gonna like this."
"Oh, no, what happened?" Ellie asked.
"Nothing. We have to talk about your hair. It's not safe."
Ellie frowned. "That's not nice."
"What?"
"Are you saying it smells?"
"No."
"Because it does."
Lee shakes his head. "Do you remember when Andy St. John grabbed it? And I got mad?"
"Yeah..."
"Well, that could happen again. And if it's a walker, well... we need to trim it."
"Just a trim, right?"
"I need to cut it short enough so that it can't get grabbed."
Ellie sighed. "Okay."
"Mind if we do this now?"
"I guess not."
"Don't mope. It's a good thing."
Ellie takes off her hat and Lee starts cutting her hair.
"Do you know how to do this?" she asked.
"Nope. No idea. I'm not much of a stylist, you know?"
"I'm going to look like a boy," she complained.
"But think how much safer you'll be."
"I'd rather be dead."
"Shush now."
"So you did kill someone, before."
"Yep."
"I'm glad you finally told me."
"Me too."
"You've killed lots of things now, it doesn't even matter."
Lee stays silent for a moment, trying to concentrate on cutting Ellie's hair. "No, it's different."
"But you do it now to protect yourself, and to protect me."
"I was sent to jail."
"Did people ever go to jail when they shouldn't?"
"All the time. Okay, I think I'm about done. I can probably tie these pieces back with something."
Ellie's hands him hair ties. "Here, I have some hair thingies."
"You do?"
"Uh, yeah. Lilly gave them to me for sleeping."
"There. All set." Lee puts Ellie's hair in pigtails and she feels her new hairstyle, then pouts. "Does it look dumb?"
Lee pats her head. "Ha, no. You look cute, and a lot harder to grab." He hands Ellie her hat and she puts in back on. Lee sits back down next to Ellie. "I want to talk about Savannah."
"Me too."
Lee pulls out the map, unfolds it, and places it on the floor between him and Ellie. "And what we're gonna do when we get there. We don't know what to expect-the city could be bad or totally under control. The thing is, you and I, we're a team, you know? And a team needs a plan. Aside from everyone else, when this train stops, you and I should know exactly what we're doing."
"A plan. I like it."
"Ha, good."
"Maybe my dad and brother are in Savannah! We could maybe look for them when we arrive."
"I'll help you look for them."
"Really? Thanks!"
"Then maybe find a boat."
"A big boat so everyone can fit in it."
"Of course. Alright. How do you feel?"
"Good. Better. I'm glad you're going to help me find my dad."
"I guess we should see how far-"
"Oh, shit! Hold on, everybody!" Kenny shouted. The train squeals to a halt and everyone gets out. On the overpass ahead of them, part of a gas truck is hanging off the edge and blocking the road.
"Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck!" Kenny yelled.
"Maybe we could walk?" Ben suggested.
"That's fucking stupid, Ben."
"I'm just sayin'..."
"Hmm. I dunno. I ain't got much experience with y'all's fortitude but we could probably deal with that. We got a goddamn train." Chuck said.
"That thing's not full of milk, Charles. That's gas or diesel; something that's going to explode." Kenny stated.
"You gotta get ahold of yourself. This a crew here."
"This ain't shit."
"This-"
"Yo, you keep screaming like that and you're gonna get your face chewed off," a man said.
"Are you guys gonna be trouble?" a woman asked. "Because we could've just kept walking."
A man and a woman stand on the overpass. Kenny reaches toward his gun. Lee speaks up. "No, we're friendly. Put your hand down, Ken."
"That's what everybody says," the woman said.
"We know."
"Let's give these guys a break," the man told to the woman.
"We'll see."
"You guys got a problem with your train?"
"Yeah, you're standing right in front of it," Kenny replied.
"Dude, it's a wreck. It's not so bad from up here. Send your buddy up to have a look."
"Anything goes sideways up there, we won't let them escape," Kenny tells Lee.
Lee walks over to the ladder and grabs onto it. "If I come up there, you better not be murderers or thieves."
"I guess you'll have to find out,'' the woman said.
Lee reaches the top of the overpass. "Hey, dude, I'm Omid," he greeted.
"Lee."
"Christa. What's the deal with the train?"
"We're driving it."
"Oh, man!" Omid said in excitement.
"I'm not gonna bullshit you. Our group is a little fucked right now. We had a bite victim and then his mom took her life and before that, just..."
"It's okay," Christa said softly.
"Oh, shit! Goddamn, you guys have a kid!" Omid exclaimed as he saw Ellie climbing the ladder.
Ellie joins joins Lee on the overpass. "What are you doing up here?" Lee asked.
"Do you know how long it's been since I've seen a kid? Shit! What's your name?"
"Ellie."
"Oh, so he gets to swear?"
"Well, this is great. See, things are looking up."
"You're not her dad. He down there?" Christa asked.
"No, he's not down there," Lee replied.
"Hmm. What's your story?"
"I came across Ellie alone and we've been together ever since."
"And everybody down there, they're cool?"
"Yeah, they are."
"We're sorry for anything that's happened to you guys. That train is awesome, though," Omid said.
"That tank is your real problem. We'll help you with it, but if we see anything we don't like, we're moving on down the road. Alone," Christa said.
"We'd appreciate the help."
"You can't just blast through it, I guess."
"If you could get it down, the rest would probably be pretty easy."
"We'll start there," Lee said.
"We'll come down and settle in and see if we can help."
Everyone goes down the ladder to join the rest of the group. "Guys, this is Omid and Christa," Lee introduced. Chuck, Ben, and Kenny look at them and say nothing.
"Not big on welcomes..." Omid muttered.
"Like I said, it's been a bit of a day."
"We just wanted to say hi and say that your train is pretty cool," Omid greeted.
"But we're not looking for charity," Christa stated.
"We could help you guys, though," Omid said.
"The plan is to cut that tanker down and be on our way," Lee told to the group.
"Seems like plan enough to me," Kenny replied.
"You want to start in on that tanker?" Omid asked.
"I'll get to know the girl for a minute, if you don't mind," Christa said.
"And why don't I show you how this thing works, in case something happens?"
"Really, Ken?"
"It's probably for the best. Someone might want to have a look inside of that station back there, too."
"Sounds great. Let's do this thing," Omid said.
Kenny and Omid enter the cab. Christa and Ellie sit on the ground, talking. Chuck sits on a rock, playing guitar. Ben sits on top of the train. Lee walks over to where Ellie and Christa are sitting. He kneels down in-front of Ellie. "You interrogating this woman for us?"
"Yep."
"She set off any alarm bells?"
"Not yet."
"She's very thorough," Christa spoke up.
"That's what I like to hear," Lee replied.
Christa looks at the walkie talkie that Ellie is holding. "That's a pretty useful radio for her to be holding onto, no?"
"It's busted, but it means something to her," Lee replied.
"Ah, I understand."
"Where you from?" he asked.
"San Francisco."
"Jeez, a long way from home."
"I blame the one in there. He wanted the "great American road trip"."
"He got a little more than he bargained for, huh?"
"Who the hell is into Civil War history anyway? Other than old white guys."
Lee slowly raises his hand. Christa roles her eyes. "Wonderful. You two will be thick as thieves."
Lee starts walking over to the train station. Ellie runs up behind him. "Can I follow you over there?"
Lee kneels down to Ellie's height. "You don't like the new girl?"
"I do, but... it's like we're a team. Like you said."
"Yeah, alright. Come on." Lee stands back up. He then lets the others know. ''Ellie and I are checking out this train station, alright? Hustle over if you hear anything."
Ellie and Lee arrive at the train station. "Survivors Inside" is painted on the roof. Ellie walks over to the front door while Lee looks around. Lee approaches the door to see that Ellie is already trying to open it.
"You should wait for me before trying to open doors."
"Sorry," Ellie mumbled.
"Luckily, it's locked. We'll get better at working together." Lee looks at the window above the door. "The window's open up there."
"Maybe I could look in?" Ellie asked.
"Why don't I put you on my shoulders and you can peek into that window up there?" Lee suggested.
"Sounds good."
Lee lifts Ellie up and she stands on his shoulders. She looks into the window. "Okay, I can see in, what do I do now?"
"What do you see?"
"Lots of crates and stuff."
"Maybe we can find the key or figure out a way to knock this door down. Kenny'd probably have me pick the lock, which actually might work now that we have the time..." while Lee was talking Ellie unlocked the door. "I think I opened it."
"For real?" Lee asked.
"I think so."
Lee lifts Ellie of his shoulders. They open the door a little bit. "Well, I'll be damned."
Ellie speaks before Lee opens the door fully. "Let's go. Be careful."
"I'm supposed to tell you that."
They enter the station. "Goddamn, it's dark in here."
"Maybe I can hold the door open?"
"I don't like that. I'll prop it open with something."
Lee uses a wrench to hold the door open. He walks over to where there is another locked door. He looks above it and notices a small gap. "There's some space up there, but not much."
"We're lucky I'm so little," Ellie replied.
"Yeah, we are." Lee kneels down in front of Ellie. "You okay going over the top of this fence?"
"Yeah, definitely."
Lee nods before giving Ellie a boost into the cage. "Go on and grab the keys, Ellie. Come on, scoot."
Ellie turns to look behind Lee. "Behind you!" she squeals.
A walker approaches him. "Fuck!"
Lee pulls out his pistol, but another walker attacks him, knocking the pistol out of his hands and making it slide under the cage door. Lee pushes it back, but both walkers continue to advance. Lee backs up to the door and grabs the wrench. He kills one of the walkers and struggles as the second one grabs onto him, but then knocks it over and kills it. He sees Ellie holding the pistol, her hands shaking.
"It's okay. It's okay... everything's fine," he tells her.
A third walker approaches in the cage. "Keys, now!" Lee demands. Ellie takes the keys and hands them to Lee. He unlocks the door, takes the pistol, and shoots the walker.
"Goddamn..." Lee muttered.
"That didn't go so good."
"No, it did not go so good. But we're okay. Everything's okay."
"What's going on? I thought I heard a gunshot," Christa called from outside the door.
"We're fine," Lee replied.
Christa enters and notices the walker corpses.
"We found some walkers," Lee explained.
"You and an eight-year-old versus three of them, huh?"
"It was stupid."
"You think?"
"What do you want me to say? I'm trying to teach her how to take care of herself. We're getting used to working together."
"I'm gonna go make sure the noise didn't cause us any problems."
"That's a good idea," Ellie said.
Christa smiles and nods, then starts to leave. Before reaching the door, she turns back to them. "I hope you know what you're doing with her."
"Me too," Lee replied.
"For her sake," Christa added before leaving.
Lee talks to Ellie again. "You sure you're okay?"
"Yeah. I'm a little shaky," Ellie replied.
"It'll pass."
Lee goes into the cage and picks up the blowtorch. "We've got."
"Let's go outside now," Ellie suggested, wanting to leave the station.
"What did we learn?" Lee asked.
"I'm not ready for a gun," Ellie said while looking down.
"We learned not to be afraid. They shoulda got us, but we got them."
"Yeah, you're right."
"Fear is the thing that will kill us, you understand?" Lee asked. Ellie nods.
They leave the station and walk back towards the rest of the group. When they arrive, Omid comes out of the cab. Lee walks over to him. "I found a blowtorch in the station. Should make quick work of the coupling up there."
"Excellent, I'll come up there with you to have a look," Omid said before climbing the ladder.
Lee heads to where Christa and Ellie are sitting again. "Hi, girls."
"Hey," Christa replied.
"We were trying to get used to being on our own, Ellie and I," Lee said.
"So you take her into a dark, boarded-up building to build character?"
"Not exactly."
"I think it's a good idea-figurin' stuff out for yourself-for what it's worth. But be smart about it, though, you know? Teach her to scan the area for things. You two should never be looking in the same spot-that's a waste. Stay the hell out of places like that building over there, especially if you don't have more than one way to get out. And be more afraid of groups of living men than dead folk."
"That, we know."
"Omid and I are still alive because we're two, and not six or eight or ten. I don't believe in strength in numbers and you shouldn't either."
Lee climbs up the ladder and talks to Omid. "Think this'll work?"
"Dude, you're cutting metal with fire. How could it not?"
Lee sets the blowtorch down and turns it on, but it doesn't ignite. "Shit."
"What's up?"
"The hose has a leak in it."
"Turn it off, dude! I don't want my eyebrows burned off!"
Lee turns it off and finds tape to cover the leak. "Hope this holds." Lee turns on the blowtorch and starts to cut the hitch while closing his eyes.
"That's crazy, look at it go."
"Just about got it."
The truck starts to slide down and Omid pulls Lee backward to safety. Lee gets up. "Whoa, thanks!"
"No sweat, man."
"This thing is hanging by a thread. The smallest cut and it'll go."
Lee offers the blowtorch to Omid. "Here. The weak portion of the coupling is out of my reach."
Omid pushes blowtorch away. "You think it'll be within mine?"
"Ha, no, but I'm gonna dangle you over that ledge."
"The hell you are!"
Omid leans over the edge and uses the blowtorch as Lee holds onto his arm to keep him from falling. "God, you're a real son of a bitch, aren't you?"
"Shut up and start cutting," Lee said.
Ben notices a giant herd of walkers approaching. "Guys, there's something coming."
"What the what?" Omid asked.
"There must be thousands..." Lee replied.
Ben starts running. "We gotta go!"
"Fuck, Omid, cut! Cut!"
"I am! It's going! Pull me up!" Omid successfully cuts through the hitch, and Lee pulls him up. The tanker falls and crashes into the ladder, destroying it.
"Kenny, go!" Lee shouted.
Everyone but Lee and Omid get into the train as Kenny starts it up. Gas spills from the tanker.
"Shit, what the hell do we do now?" Omid asked.
"Hope to God this works." Lee kicks the blowtorch down, lighting the gas on fire.
"Holy crap!"
Lee and Omid run over to the railing. "We gotta jump," Lee said.
"What?! No way!" Omid said in disbelief.
They both climb over the railing, leaning against it. "Jump!" Lee shouted.
"No!"
"Jump, damn it!"
"Still, no!"
"Fine!" Lee jumps and lands on the top of the train. Omid jumps next and hits the top of the train, bouncing to the ground.
"Ah!"
"Shit!" Christa jumps down and helps Omid up. Omid limps and Christa runs alongside the train. "Run!"
Lee swings into the boxcar. Omid and Christa run beside him. Lee grabs Omid's arm and hoists him into the boxcar.
"No, her! Not me! Christa, no! Fuck!"
Christa falls behind the train. "You piece of shit! She's a woman! Don't you know-?"
Christa reappears, she grabs onto the edge and pulls herself into the boxcar. "It's okay, honey. I'm okay."
Lee looks at the herd of walkers behind them. Ellie enters the boxcar.
"That was a lot of them," Omid said.
"Are you hurt?" Ellie asked.
"No, we're okay," Lee replied.
"Speak for yourself, my leg is fucked."
"We're fine, Ellie. We're fine," Christa said.
Some time later, in the cab, Ellie is asleep in a chair with her backpack on the floor next to her. Lee goes to the open backpack and examines a drawing Ellie made of Kenny, Katjaa, and Duck. Kenny enters the cab. "Next stop, the Atlantic."
"We have to find a boat. We just have to." Lee said.
"We will."
"It's gotten too bad, you know? You, me, nobody can take all this."
"But we have."
"What we're supposed to do isn't clear anymore. I'd give anything to go back to fighting over the motel."
Kenny sighs. "Me, too."
Ellie's radio crackles and Lee picks it up.
"Hello there...?"
"What the?" Lee asked.
"Can't wait for you to get to Savannah, Ellie. I've got your dad right here, and you be sure to find me whether Lee wants you to or not. Now, what I need-" The radio cuts out.
"Holy shit." Lee muttered.
"I thought that fucking thing was broken."
"So did I."
"Well, it sounds like somebody knows where we're headed."
"Who the fuck?" Lee asked.
"I don't know. But I doubt we're going to be happy when we find out."
