Hello one, hello all!
Welcome back to another chapter of Arcful Romance, I hope you enjoyed the last chapter because this next one is gonna be more of the feels and comedy.
Well... this entire story is based on romance and comedy so that's just how this is going to be.
But without further delay, let us continue our adventure of the blond noodle and his monster companion.
I don't own RWBY or Monster Musume. But if I did I'd make Goodwitch a Dark Witch.
Chapter 3:Black Cat Blues And A Dullahan Day Out
(3 Days Later after the Liminal Meeting.)
The sun was bright and shining on the city of Vale, making the perfect sunny afternoon. A perfect day to get out and see some of the sights for anybody curious for adventure.
In fact the sun was so bright it was starting to get a bit too toasty.
Unfortunately for Jaune Arc and dullahan girl Ruby Rose...They had the privilege of doing something nobody else probably had to deal with in modern Vale today.
Hang drying clothes in the sun on the 2nd floor balcony.
"I told you Ruby, you don't need to help me. I can do this on my own." Jaune told the reaper girl as he put another shirt on the clothesline, reaching for another item of clothes to hang on the clips.
"Nope," She popped the P at the end. "I refuse to stand here and let you do this all on your own." Ruby said as she picked up one of his shirts to try and put on the pins.
Only for it to look awkward by the clothes pins pinching the neck and arm of the shirt. Jaune only looked at the weird looking shirt as the pins made the shirt looking crumpled.
He sweat dropped over the... interesting position it was in. Ruby looked at him and then looked back at the offending shirt.
"Ok I know I messed up somewhere but I can fix this." Ruby told him.
"Ruby."
"Come on. I know I can do this!" She went to put the pins in different locations.
However this time it only had one pin on one of the arms of the shirt and the other somehow got the bottom of the shirt, twisting the damp shirt.
Jaune could only sigh in exasperation.
"Ok look...Best two out of three." She tried to bargain, but Jaune already was fixing the pins to right the shirt.
"Look its fine, I've done line drying by myself back in my hometown when the dryer was on the fritz before." After a few seconds it was hooked on correctly. "Just let me handle the rest alright?"
"But... I'm the one responsible for this whole mess Jaune! I can't just let you do all of work while I sit around and do nothing!" The reaper girl whined towards her host.
"Be that as it may, these are still my clothes and I need to take responsibility for them and do this on my own." Jaune only gave a tired smile towards the girl. Which only made Ruby look down in guilt. "Besides your here learn our culture and you've been helping around the house to prove otherwise. So don't say you don't do anything alright?"
She really felt bad for the busted up dryer. The fact that Jaune was doing his laundry like this alone made her feel crummy.
"But I just- I wanted to make it up to you since you've been so nice." The reaper girl said sadly. The blond could tell that the girl was genuine about her mess up. He honestly couldn't get mad at Ruby even if he tried.
Jaune just walked up to her and ruffled her hair, with a grand smile on his face.
The reaper just gazed up and looked up to her host. She couldn't help the small dusting of a blush on her cheeks. Ruby couldn't help it, Jaune Arc was just a goofball with a good smile.
Meanwhile Jaune really appreciated the reaper girl wanting to help him in his chores, and he could see why she wanted to make amends because of what happened these past two days.
But sometimes you gotta be a man and do the things you don't wanna do.
Even if it isn't your fault, that was his father's words not his own.
"Like I said when we met, I'm gonna be the best host your ever had here on Remnant." Jaune explained before realizing something they haven't done yet that would definitely cheer her up. "Tell you what Ruby, how about after all this clothes hanging I make us some lunch, I go get dressed, and we go out to see some of the Vale shopping strip? Maybe we can get you some new clothes that we were suppose to get from a couple of days ago." The blond suggested.
When the reaper girl heard him say that. She started to get a tad nervous, she subconsciously hugged her body a little and rubbed her foot on the ground.
"Can... can we do something else after that?" The now nervous girl said with a blush on her cheeks.
That left Jaune a bit confused from her notion, but his usual heartwarming smile went to his face. " Sure thing! Wherever you wanna go Ruby, I'll take you there." Jaune said.
Her nervous demeanor faded and was soon replaced with an excited expression, her eyes shining with positive energy "Really? You mean it?"
"Arc's word." He said with a smile.
"Alright!" She cheered as she fist pumped. Jaune couldn't help but chuckle at her excitement. He reached into the laundry basket to see that he had the last couple of shirts he needed to hang.
All things considered, when Jaune said he was going through with this homestay program. He thought this was almost going to be a trainwreck for him and he didn't mean the ones that people wanted to watch for morbid curiosity.
But after about three days, things have been going pretty well with him and Ruby as homestay and host. The apartment hasn't blown up yet and he's still alive!
So hey! That's progress!
All things considered, the couple of days that they have both been here at the new aparment, things have been going pretty smoothly.
Well except for a couple of... mistakes and nitpicks he had.
First of which was his fault...
After the agent left the apartment, Jaune was able to find Ruby a room of her own, with her own bed and a window giving her a direct look at the city of Vale whenever she wants. Her eyes lit up when she saw her room. The reaper girl jumped towards the bed and rolled in the covers, saying in joy in her words 'This is my room', as she stuffed her face in her pillow to yell in excitement.
Jaune's heart never clenched so hard from how cute she was being. For being something like the menacing reaper of souls, he couldn't stop thinking how adorable she looked.
After that 'kawaii' moment passed, Jaune went to prepare food for both of them, hoping to impress the reaper girl with his culinary skills that he had to master from Mama Arc.
He would never forget the hell that was his mother's cooking training.
His hand had an imprint of the wooden spoon she used on him whenever he made mistakes...
"Never again..." He vowed as he shivered and rubbed his dominate hand. But now he had a guest in his humble abode and he needed to make a good first impression.
And impress her he did, dinner was a smashing success for Jaune in the eyes of the girl. Making a delicious garlic smothered chicken breast with fingerling potatoes and a side of asparagus.
By the time Ruby was done with the meal she was licking her plate waiting for more tasty food from the master chef Jaune.
"Bless you almighty Oum, for my mother teaching me her cooking skills for anyone I meet."
The blond didn't think he could do any wrong here. Ruby really enjoyed his dinner and now with a plate full of chocolate chip cookies and some milk to end the evening for a sweet treat, he didn't think anything could go wrong.
Unfortunately... that was his first mistake.
When Ruby ate those cookies... Jaune couldn't see it, but there were fireworks going off in her head. Eyes half lidded and the girl swore she saw the heavens for the first time in her life.
Ruby tasted ecstasy that day, Jaune could feel in the way her silver eyes looked at him. He had a feeling in all of her years of being a Dullahan and reaping souls, she had never tasted the heavenly deliciousness that was chocolate chip cookies.
Once she had finished one of the chocolate treats, she took another one, and another and another. One cookie became two, and then two became three until all of the soft cookies were decimated by what he deemed 'The Cookie Massacre'. A crime scene wouldn't of helped as the very last crumbs were in the stomach of the Reaper girl.
Every cookie she consumed was met with sexual styled moaning from the Dullahan girl. Which was very awkward for the blond host.
For some reason... it sounded pretty sexy too...
Who knew Ruby had a silky sounding voice to her...
Then with it came the hyper sugar rush, and all hell broke loose after that...
Ruby was like hyper sonic missile, bouncing around all over the place, hell she was going so fast around the apartment after image's of the Dullahan girl were starting to show up.
He thought that only happened in Wyrm Sphere Y and other fighting anime?!
Regardless he went to stop the speed hazard before she hurt herself.
Jaune definitely got his cardio work out in, as he was chasing her around the whole living room. At least was quick enough to save one of his potted plants from the headless heat-seeking projectile that was Ruby's body.
He was hoping that she would eventually stop moving so fast as he couldn't keep up with her, his body out of breath from the chase after a couple of minutes.
Finally she eventually did peeter out. After a few more minutes of energy, her body suddenly experienced the dreaded 'sugar crash'. Luckily he was able catch her before she hurt herself or destroy any of the furniture in the apartment, thank Oum for small mercies.
After that horrible 'experience' for Jaune, the blond made an executive decision to only make cookies on special occasions, to avoid situations that he dubbed the 'Ruby Rocket' from happening around the apartment building again.
After that exhausting game of 'tag', they decided to get ready for bed since it was almost midnight and they needed to get some sleep for tomorrow morning. He was going to take the girl around Vale for a day around town to get some new clothes.
The morning after however...that's when the actual issues started happening in the house with Ruby.
(Flashback two days ago)
When the morning of the next day came around, Jaune was ready early in the morning wearing some X-Ray and Vav pajamas that made him feel comfortable. He'd have to thank his sister Sapphron for buying these for him last Christmas.
Though he was glad that he still didn't have his bunny onesie, that would been embarrassing for his homestay to see.
Speaking of the reaper girl...The teen was nervous and some what excited today for what was to come. Because today he and Ruby were going to spend the day shopping for clothes and looking around the sights of the city of Vale.
He wrung his hands, a certain nervous habit of his that calmed his nerves. Honestly he couldn't help himself. Jaune couldn't believe he was going to take a girl out on a shopping trip, something he's never done before. Reaching out to knock on the Dullahan girls door.
"Almost... like a date." He squeaked out as his cheeks reddened a bit before shaking his head at the thought and pulling his hand back.
What am I talking about?! I can't just date her!" Jaune said to himself.
"Besides... Agent Coco said nothing sexual with these girls. I don't want to get arrested and ruin Ruby's chance to explore our world by getting her deported." His hand ready to knock, only to stop an inch at the wooden door.
"But... Ms. Adel only said no sexual activities with a monster girl, so would dating be breaking the rules?" Jaune questioned quietly.
But the blond groaned in frustration "I'd still be wrong! I would be taking advantage of Ruby's curious nature. Would you really feel good about yourself doing that to a foreigner?!" As he only dragged his hand down his face in this silly situation.
"Great... Now I'm talking to myself outside her door. That's definitely not gonna make me sound like a crazy person to her." With his self argument over with Jaune knocked on the door softly to get his homestay's attention.
"Ruby? Are you awake? If you are I'm gonna make us some breakfast for us if you're hungry." Jaune got no response which sort of concerned him.
"Ruby? You in there?" He knocked again, but once more there was no response. Which was getting him worried a bit. He hope he didn't scare her off or anything.
Feeling the concern rise in him, Jaune opened the door to check on the reaper girl.
However when he opened the door to her room, he saw nobody there on the bed and with no sign of Ruby anywhere. Being on high alert he quickly looked everywhere for the girl, but there was no trace of her.
Jaune quickly went to search for her in the other rooms to see if she relocated, only to come up empty handed. He didn't see her anywhere else in the apartment. Not in the kitchen, bathroom, or any of the numerous bedrooms that the home offered.
He was starting to panic a little more. What was he going to tell Ms. Adel? That he lost his homestay? Should he file a missing persons report?
"This is not good...Not good all." He walked back down the hallway, maybe he missed something in her room.
He went back to her original bed to check everywhere one more time. This time however Jaune found a note on the nightstand with a little chibi Ruby head smiling at the bottom with a bright smile.
"Jaune, If you are reading this then that means I am not here right now. Don't worry! I didn't run away so you don't need to call Ms. Adel to file a missing Ruby report."
"Yeah... because that sounds reassuring." He said with a deadpan tone in his voice, as he continued to read Ruby's note.
"I just needed to take some souls to the afterlife early in the morning, I'll return before breakfast time or once my job is done, Love Ruby." He also saw an arrow on the bottom as well, seeing the words 'turn around when done'.
"P.S, Smith told me to tell you to contact her on something about other Liminals... I didn't know what she meant by that, but she said it was important for you to know and you need to call her as soon as you are available." Which only got a sigh out of the blond, he had a headache surfacing already with Coco's demands for him to pick up his scroll.
He could only imagine the woman wanting another excuse to tear up his coffee supply. The day they met she tore up three cups of coffee and she took another cup to go in one of the plastic cups, which made the blond sweatdrop at the caffeine addicted agent.
"She really needs to get that habit under control otherwise she's not gonna get any sleep." Jaune said out loud in the room.
"What habit?" A familiar voice said, as Jaune turned around and yell out in surprise.
" AHH! Good Oum almighty!" The teen leapt up in the air in surprise and almost tripped on his own feet. The blond instantly saw Ruby just suddenly appeared behind him, which only got the Dullahan girl to giggle from his little freak out.
"Be... still my beating heart." He said to himself as her chuckles turn to full blown laughter.
"HAHAHAHA! I got you good didn't I?" She doubled over from scaring her host once more, but that little prank definitely didn't sit well with the blond teen.
"Ruby...please...let me know when you're here instead of sneaking up on me..." The blond's heart was in his throat from that little jumpscare, he thought he was gonna have a heart attack from that.
"Hehehe... Sorry Jaune, it was just too funny." The girl continued to chuckle out.
"Well when I end up pushing daisies, then we'll see how funny it is and who's to blame for this mess." Jaune grumbled out, loud enough the hear. The comment made the Liminal girl a little sad about the implication. She didn't really scare Jaune that bad did she? It was all for fun wasn't it?
He looked ok... So he must be fine! Her demeanor cheered right back up about the situation he talked about, and a little cheeky grin got onto her face, her thoughts thinking of a silver lining if that ever happened to her host.
"~Welllll... if you do die. That just means your mine for all eternity, and we will always be together forever~" The girl sighing out longingly, as if she had found her one true love at long last. She would take care of Jaune once he passes on to the afterlife, that she can guarantee. He would always be there for her and his soul would be there with her, giving her the warmth and comfort she always wanted.
Just both of them alone for all eternity. She could only blush up a storm from it all. It sounded like the ancient books of romance that she read as a young girl.
"NO WAY! I'm not dying now! I have too much to accomplish before I kick the bucket. Nope Na-uh" The blond said, making an X with his arms, shaking his head.
That comment got to the reaper emotionally, "Y-You don't want to be with me for the rest of your life? " Ruby said with a sad tone, making Jaune start to sweat a little from the awkward situation he put himself in, as the girl started letting out crocodile tears. "When you pass on you don't want to be with someone you know?" Her eyes gotten big to lay it on thick.
"What?! No Ruby I want to be with you its just..." Jaune was trying to run damage control here before she started the waterworks. "I just don't want to die just yet! When we still have many of memorable moments to make together here." He tried explaining before taking a deep breath to compose himself. "But I want to get to know you... Just you know what I mean, but its just..." He was fumbling his words here, he wanted to know the girl more. Sure she was the 'Grim Reaper' in her society of Dullahan's.
But here? She seems like just a sweet girl, with cute looks and a nice figure.
"It's just what?" she badgered, narrowing her silver eyes at the blond. Jaune knew that look, he had seen it on her sisters all the time, and while she is a monster girl. He knew that the wrong answer could be lead to dire consequences.
"Its a little complicated okay Ruby?" He said as he tried to placate her. The blond clapped his hands together. " Just...Please keep the scares down to a minimum alright? I just don't want something to happen if I'm carrying something heavy and then suddenly you pop up and I accidentally drop it on you or myself ok?" He said with his hands together, pleading with her, hoping a logical standpoint would work.
Which got the girl to puff out her cheeks in a pout, something that Jaune found absolutely adorable from the dullahan girl. If she wasn't so terrifying with her scythe right next to her.
"Please. Just for my sake ok?" He pleaded.
Which in turn only made the girl sigh in defeat, shoulders slumping as she stopped pouting.
"Fiiiinnneee. I'll stop trying to scare you so much."
"Thank you Ruby. You have no idea how much this means to me." That comment was followed by a quick hug from the reaper, putting her whole body, pressing her... assets into Jaune's tall frame.
'Boing'
"But only because your my soulmate, alright?" Which only made the blond turn cherry red from not only the intimate pet name...
But he could feel... Ruby's bust from her outfit.
"S-Sure thing Ruby." He stuttered out with a red hot blush.
"Hey... are you alright?" She looked up at him to see his reddening cheeks. "Your face is looking a little red."
"I-I'm fine!" He reassured her before regaining his composure as they back away from each other. "Anyways, I'm about to make breakfast as I got up a little late today. Do you want to help me?"
The reaper girls face lit up as he asked for assistance. "Sure!" As a smile radiated off her face. "Can we make cookies for breakfast?"
"No chance."
"Dang it."
(Flashback End)
Jaune went to hang a Pumpkin Pete shirt, the goofy looking rabbit staring back at him as he admired his hang dry work.
Breakfast that day was a surprising affair. Both of the two made a big breakfast with scrambled eggs, bacon, cooked potatoes, and to top it off with the fluffy discs that were pancakes.
Jaune was actually pretty surprised that Ruby could cook. Sure she burnt the bacon a little and pancakes were a tad too brown. But other than that she did a pretty good job helping him in the kitchen.
Definitely better than his twin sister Noel Arc that was for damn sure. He would never forget the goopy abomination that she made called grits. It had multiple colors and the smell was a nightmare, the thing was so horrid it actually started moving like a horror movie monster!
So he can thank his lucky stars that his homestay knows how to cook some food.
After their wonderful breakfast however... Something weird happened with Ruby.
When he suggested to going to shop for clothes for today... Ruby looked like a deer in headlights when he said they were getting clothes.
It felt like a buzzword for her because she was sweating bullets and shivering in a nervous panic. He never saw her dart out of the kitchen fast enough than anyone, hearing her door room shut with a hard slam.
When he went to check on her to see what that was all about. When there was no response after a couple seconds she went to open the door and she was nowhere to be seen once again.
Figuring out she teleported away again and left a note saying 'duty calls'. But for some reason Jaune thought something else was going on with Ruby and her teleporting. Because whenever he brought up going to shop for clothes the same reaction was given to him in the form of the Dullahan girl teleporting away.
However... when she did come back. Unfortunately she would scare the holy ghost out of him the last five times she returned to the house when doing something and was in his own world.
"I swear to the gods, I'm gonna have a heart attack if she keeps that up." Maybe he should check his blood pressure with a doctor check up next time?
Which leads him to the issue that they face today: Ruby's teleporting.
While the headless girl did say that she could teleport whenever she has her scythe. Which was very cool in his opinion still...
But... that didn't mean that she was accurate. As the times she had come back from her escapades in the last two days, she had transported where he was at the most awkward and embarrassing times.
One time when he was in his room changing clothes she suddenly appeared in his room. He heard her because the shout she let out when he was pulling up his shirt, which was definitely embarrassing.
But what was weird about it was Ruby's head was in the room but not the body.
Another time was when he was in the middle of playing his game of Zetta: Winds Of The Wilderness she teleported in front of him in the coffee table, but this time it was the body suddenly teleporting right in front of him.
However the worst example was when he finished taking a shower and was drying his hair in the mirror...
The worst part was her head for some reason landed on the seat of the toilet, thank goodness he closed the seat every time. Otherwise it could of been way worse and Ruby's head would have been dunked in toilet water.
Unfortunately... he was drying my hair and her eyes... they saw everything... in all of my naked glory down below. Jaune didn't notice her until the blond heard some giggling behind him, but sure as shit was embarrassed when he did hear that.
Jaune felt so ashamed that he immediately covered up his crotch, covering his private area. But Ruby's head only kept giggling like a schoolgirl, sporting a huge red blush on her face and muttering something of the lines of how the host had a 'Long Jaune'.
Before Jaune asked her to elaborate what the hell did she meant by that and how she teleported in here. The head only passed out and for some reason when he went to check on the girl her nose had blood rushing down with a hazy smile on her face.
Later on the Arc teen asked Ruby why sometimes she teleports with only her head and sometimes with just her body. She didn't want to tell me, but I had to badger her on this if this continued to happen. She got a little defensive
When he got her answer however... the man was flabbergasted from why she only teleported with her head and sometimes without it.
"It's because I sneeze sometimes ok!? The force of the sneeze pushes my head off my body just a little bit and it puts me somewhere else when I come back to the world of the living. Sometimes it happens to us Dullahan's ok! Everyone goes through this kind of stuff so it's not just me! It's not like I can't do my job, I'm a good reaper!" Unfortunately he got some waterworks and a long tangent for his troubles, along with a pouty reaper girl for his troubles.
Honestly, Jaune was a bit relieved that it was just that. He honestly thought Ruby body was just gone forever if she messed up her teleports. He gave her a comforting hug for it and just told her, 'just be careful next time alright?', in which he heard a muffled 'ok' in his chest as she cherished the hug.
Unfortunately... he knew that his lucky break would run out eventually as the first thing that broken in the new apartment was the reason why he was hang drying his clothes today.
The unfornate first casualty of the apartment happened on this day.
(Flashback: Yesterday Evening)
The washer was still tumbling the clothes around in a bubbly spin cycle as Ruby watched on when she decided to put them in to help Jaune with some chores.
She was quite intrigued as different colored shirts, shorts and jeans, and some of his socks and hoodies were in this pile, spinning around in a weird watery cycle to get them clean and stainless.
Ruby felt unfamiliar with this washing technology, she hasn't really seen them being used before when she was growing up as Dullahan's didn't really do laundry that often if not at all.
So when Jaune said he needed some help with some chores Ruby got a little nervous that they were going to be doing it all day. As she had no prior knowledge of using certain electronic devices like a vacuum or these laundry machines.
However Jaune was a good teacher and very fair. Teaching her how the washer and dryer works and was being very patient with her about it.
Honestly all he asked her to do was a little dusting around the house and a little help with washing and his clothes for this week.
Which in her opinion... wasn't too bad.
He wanted to make a good impression with his new job coming up with being a Dust Stockman in one of the biggest stores in Vale. So with that said, he wanted to at least wash his clothes before starting at his new job.
Which now that Ruby was clearly instructed how to use these machines, was simple for the reaper girl in her opinion, and she didn't mind helping her soulmate with this task.
For a thank you though, Jaune was going to cook up one of his signature dishes that his hometown makes that he promised is super tasty. So with not knowing the recipe, she decided to just help out in washing clothes.
When she put his clothes in the washer and they were in the spin cycle, she decided to try out some of the video games on one of his gaming system. So she decided she play one of Jaune's consoles.
She decided to play on the Series X, and she decided to play one of the recommended games that the consoles provided. The game looked interesting as the domed helmet and golden visor stared back at her.
This Croona: Battlefield Evolution looked really cool in her opinion! So she decided to take game for a spin and play the campaign of the first game: Corona: Battlefield Evolution.
When she got into game she couldn't take her eyes off this Master Chief and how cool he looked with his power armor. Her eyes were like shining stars when she saw the cool looking aliens she fought against. The big reptilian ones looked pretty scary but not as scary as her!
She thought the small ones were pretty silly, and felt a little bad when one got blown up. But quickly got over it when they made those funny noises when they blew up.
Her hands weren't really familiar with the controller that she was using. As this was the first time that she ever played a video game so she felt a little confused how to shoot and move at the same time facing against this so called The Conglomerate.
But after a few minutes and a couple of times she died. The reaper girl was starting to get into the zone as she started taking down these aliens by the drove, saving the poor marines that seemed outmatched.
Minutes started turning into an hour as she was now on the second mission driving in a Boar to save some marines from the horror of those murderous aliens.
"You enjoying yourself?" Jaune asked the girl with an amused smile on his face.
"You bet! I was getting a little frustrated at not getting anywhere for a bit, but I gave it a few minutes and now this is all starting making sense to me!" Ruby was giddy about this game, it was just super cool in her book. "Plus I'm this super armored badass that's going around trying to save my fellow humans by taking down these bad aliens like: 'Eat this!' 'BANG BANG BANG'!" Getting up from the couch and acting like she had one of the assault rifles in her hands, firing in each direction making the gun noises with her mouth.
Jaune couldn't help but hold his heart there with that little show. Ruby just looked super cute when she was acting out the scene.
"Ugh... my heart... so much cuteness..." The blond thought, feeling like he was gonna have a kawaii heart attack.
"Well...I'm glad your enjoying the Corona series so much. Maybe after all is said and done you can try the multiplayer and try to play people online." Jaune suggested.
"Wait... more people play these games... on the internet?" Ruby questioned.
"Uh huh. There some good players." The blond just gave him proud smirk. "Yeeeep. I know my way around the game and know how to be just as good as any pro player." Some smugness came out of voice as he felt confident to brag about his skill in the game of Halo.
"Really?" Ruby felt star struck, Jaune must have been an amazing player if he knows his way around the block.
"You betcha. Stick with me and I'll take you to the top Ruby." However in all reality, Jaune was just a scrubby player who didn't play ranked at all. In fact he felt like a total noob as he can only get kills with a mostly power weapons. All the other times he's getting absolutely schooled on Corona multiplayer.
But he had to make a good impression somehow without looking like a total loser so...
Before he had to explain more the sound of the microwave timer started beeping, signifying that the food was ready to take out of the oven.
"Ah just on time." Jaune announced, "Ruby I think the clothes might be done being washed. I'll care of setting the table and getting us the food while you put the clothes in the dryer." He said as the short Dullahan gave mock salute.
"Affirmative my soulmate!" She giggled as the girl looked at the flustered blond. Going around the corner into the laundry room.
"Why does she keep calling me that? Doesn't she know the implications of that?" He went to the oven to take out the steaming fisherman's pie. He got a good whiff of the deliciousness of this dish, "Oh yeah. Ruby's gonna love what I have in store for her. " He said out loud before his scroll rang on the kitchen counter. He quickly set the pie on the table to go check his ringing phone.
Maybe it was Ren? He hasn't called him since he met with the agent and he was wondering how his meeting went.
"Probably as wild as mine when I figured out that monster girls were actually real... Hehe..." He chuckled out, but all of his joy was soon gone as he saw who was calling. His face paled slightly as he saw it was Agent Adel's number. He definitely forgot to call her yesterday and he was not looking forward to this...
"Maybe if I just ignore it'll stop." As he said the scroll stopped ringing and went to his voicemail, making the blond sigh in relief.
"There we go." But as soon as he turned back towards the stove with the food, the scroll rang once more with the same number on the phone. He whistled like he didn't hear but the it just kept going, and he knew that if he kept ignoring her the anvil was just going to get heavier for how much trouble he was going to be in.
Finally with reluctance he picked up the scroll and answered the call.
"H-Hello Ms. Coco..." He stuttered out in nervousness when he answered the call. Her face in a straight line, but slowly a smirk came to her face as she was sitting in an regular looking office. Wearing her usual dark brown suit that holds her lovely bombshell figure.
"~Oh now Arc honey, I'm hurt.~" She whined with a bit of a sexy undertone. "~I can't believe you made your little cocoa bean wait until you finally called, wasn't what we had special Jauney?~" Coco questioned, honeyed words escaping her lips.
Her teasing did the trick as his face took on a full on blush. "W-What a-are y-you talking about?"
"Oh honey... Don't you remember when you were suppose to call yours truly. I'm sure Ruby told you to call me yesterday and you know how rude it is to keep a lady waiting." Jaune could hear the tone of her voice being sweet and nice, but he could feel the icy aura of pain and suffering from the brown haired agent.
Jaune only gulped down some saliva from that. "I am so terribly sorry Ms. Adel! There was just so much going on and I was really busy trying to get my new job together." The blond went on panic rant, but as he was explaining the agent let out a melodic laugh from just watching him squirm, it was beyond cute to watch the handsome teen struggle to explain.
"Alright... I think had enough fun at your expense there Arc." She said making Jaune just sigh out in defeat, looking at her with an exhausted stare.
"Now..." Her face turning serious once more. "Let's get down to some business. There are still some regulations and rules that you need to learn about when it comes to this program. Plus there are some rumors going around in Vale. As your coordinator, I have to warn you about the recent activity about some liminals that have just reached my ear." She informed, adjusting her glasses.
"Ok. Should I write some of this down? You know... for future reference?" The blond questioned.
"If it helps you honeybear then all means." Which got the blond to blush a tiny bit from his nickname. "Also there will be a package delivered to you by one of my agents later in the week. Its some very important stuff you need to have for one of the rules in the program and can save you a lot of trouble once you have it." Coco informed.
"Alright...So what's going on?" Finally ready to hear what she has to say.
"So it goes like this Arc..."
As the two speak on Liminal issues along with other matters. Ruby is putting all of Jaune's clothes into the other machine to dry them thoroughly.
She had to admit, this chore stuff wasn't really bad at all! Jaune was a nice guy and he explained what he wanted done. He never got mad at her for taking too long and whenever she needed help was something, he'd assist her in anyway.
He just that thoughtful...
The girl in question went back to the washer to take out the rest of his clothes. Apparently he just had a bunch of shirts, jeans, socks, and hoodies that were part of the clothes load.
At least she didn't have to touch her soulmates... undergarments.
The girl pale cheeks dusted a dark pink color. Just thinking about touching the blond's...underwear was a little nerve wracking. It just felt a little too personal if she was handling any of his underwear or boxers. Like she was his wife or something.
His wife... she could see it now. Him and her happily married in a nice clearing or on top of a grassy hill, leaning on each other as they watched the moonlight shine on the couple. Her eyes looking at his leaning into a lover's kiss.
Ruby only sighed out dreamily from that little daydream as she put the last couple clothes in the dryer.
With all of the clothes in the machine, she turned on the machine and turned it to forty five minutes to dry everything.
Once she pressed the button and the dryer was beginning to spin up. Her scroll let out a scream signifying an alert system she put on herself when a soul needed to be taken to the afterlife.
"Whelp... duty calls!" She dusted her skirt, leaving particles all over the laundry room. Quickly getting towards her face, as she was using the teleport spell to transfer her.
And the mother of all sneezes got to her nose.
"Gotta... ahhh...aahhhh...AAAACHOOO!"
The portal glowed a bluish white and the teleport happened so fast for her as her head started to fall backwards from the force.
Her sight went white as her head was spinning from the action... which usually doesn't happen when she teleports.
Unless...
"Wha... where am I?" She notices she isn't in the afterlife station as she looks around in her new location. The Dullahan girl realizes that she's not on her body, which is not good at all.
"Aw not again!" She complained. As she wiggled her head around all of these clothes.
The second issue was she couldn't see past all these clothes.
Wait...clothes...
Her surroundings took in all the familiar clothes she just put in the dryer as she saw a funny looking bunny hoodie, and another familiar colorful looking X-Ray and Vav comic shirt.
Her eyes widened, realizing where she is now and slowly starting to feel the horror.
"I'm in the dryer!" Ruby shouted out. However her nightmare was just beginning as she heard a rumble from the machine as the spin cycle began in a fast pace. Her head getting dizzy as her vision was getting tumbled around.
"AHHHHHHHH! GET ME OUT OF THIS THING!" Her head was turned all around, banging her head against the drum. She could see her body standing in front of the dryer still, panicking as it was just jogging in place.
"OW! Don't just stand there! OW! Get me out of this thing! OPEN THE DOOR! OW!" The head yelled out towards her body as her head continued to hit the metal as the spin cycle continued.
The body was now freaking out, pressing every button on the dry except the stop button. Making the dryer do all sorts of movements as it started to go faster and this time shake the machine.
"T-THA-TS N-NOT H-H-HELP-P-PING M-M-M-E-E-E!" The head was starting to feel sick as the dizziness and movement was making her nauseous.
With all the options used up in her opinion the body of the Dullahan girl sprinted out of the room to get their host to help.
"W-W-AIT C-CO-ME- Ugh I think I'm gonna be sick." Her face a sickening green color for a second as she continued to get tossed around in the spin cycle.
"Yes Ms. Coco I understand and I will be on the lookout for signs like that with Ruby, I'll let you know if things start getting out of hand during the night like that."
"Good boy. Now like I said, one or more of my associates will be there to drop the package off to you some time during this week. It will also give you some more exposure to more Liminals as my team is made up of girls for this job." The agent explained as she was reading some paperwork.
"Oh ok. So they are monster girls too?"
"Got it in one Arc. That's not gonna be a problem for you is it?" Coco lowered her glasses at him to give him a sharp look with her brown eyes.
"Heh.. No problem here." He sweat dropped at that clear threatening tone she used in her voice.
"What I expected from my honey." She replied back with a saucy smile. "Now that we got the Broken Moon situation talked about and we discussed the No Harm Liminal Law. I need to tell you something about a couple Liminals that are in the city." This is where Coco looked pretty serious on the scroll.
But before Jaune could get to writing something else, the teen felt a body slam into him full force.
"OOF! Ruby! Can't you see that I..." He looked to where her head was suppose to be only to see the body, "Wait... where's your head?" But all he got from the body was her fists giving light smacks to him as the shapely body of the reaper girl pointed towards the laundry room frantically. The body waving arms in a panic. "Hey! calm down, stop smacking me and point me towards your head."
He would have said tell him what was wrong. but that would pretty stupid.
But regardless the body kept pointing towards the left side from the kitchen signifying where she just came from.
"The laundry room?" The body just kept pointing towards room she was just in."Look if this is another one of your teleport pranks." The body just stomped her booted feet in frustration. The Dullahan body just grabbed onto the man's arm and started to pull him towards the room.
"Hey! I'm still talking to someone on the scroll!" Jaune protested as he left the scroll in the kitchen.
"Hey! What's going on Arc? We aren't finished yet! Get back here!" Coco yelled out.
"Something is up with Ruby! I'll be right back!" He yelled back before his form disappeared. Which only got the agent to sigh and pick up her iced canned coffee.
"The things I do for some people." She gave a big drink of the caffeinated beverage she usually drinks.
However she made a face of disgust and did a spit take.
That tasted like hot dog water.
This did NOT taste like her usual coffee.
She looked at the can and saw that it was actually 100% decaf coffee.
"What the hell? This isn't my usual stuff!?" Usually only Coco put her iced lattes drinks into the company fridge. So to find out that she was drinking something without the sweet caffeine to wake her up for long hours...
Well... it made Coco's head throb in anger, who the hell put decaf coffee in the company fridge?! Usually Penny and Velvet were good at not moving her drinks because they know her.
But there was always a cardinal rule here at the Vale M.O.N branch.
Never mess with Coco's coffee...
Ever.
And one of these snarky bitches replaced her coffee goodness with this sinful mud water that they call coffee?!
A line was not crossed that day, but definitely drawn over when someone fucks with her caffeine.
"Alright! Which one of you put this pile of shit in the fridge! Whoever did this its coming out of your paycheck!" She ranted out in frustration, leaving her office to find the one responsible.
Jaune finally got to the scene and he could only look on in horror as the dryer started sparking and vibrating, the thing was looking like a malfunctioning machine as it started to smoke.
But his real issue was...
"RUBY!" He quickly went to the dryer, slamming the stop button immediately to turn off the dryer. After a few seconds the machine stopped the spin cycle, however the machine was definitely on the fritz as the buttons on the machine didn't glow anymore. The smoke was definitely the big tell as it smelled really bad, but it could of been way worse as it could of started a house fire.
Jaune quickly opened the door and saw Ruby's head groan out in absolute agony.
"Ruby are you alright?" Concern was definitely in his voice as he was going to pick her up.
"Finally... the spinning...has ended..." her vision was all over the place as she finally saw Jaune, "Thanks Jaune I really...really..." She couldn't finish as the girl's head finally had enough as the nausea and dizziness caught up to her.
With one last futile attempt to stop it, but it was no use. Her cheeks bulged up...
And she vomited inside of the dryer where all of Jaune's clothes sat in...
(Flashback End)
After that... horrible mess, Jaune tried to see what was wrong with the dryer.
Other than the fact that there was bile in the drum and on his clothes. The whole electronic grid of the dryer was fried, which meant they couldn't turn it on anymore or use any of the spin cycle's.
Which meant it was busted...
In Jaune's opinion after Ruby losing her lunch in that thing, the blond didn't want to use the machine anymore anyways.
But after that fiasco, Ruby turned on the waterworks and continued to apologize for accidentally breaking the machine and puking on his clothes. Jaune didn't care about the machine though, as they could easily get another dryer. All he did care about was if Ruby was ok as he kept asking if she was injured after that scary little accident.
Luckily she wasn't seriously injured just felt a little jostling.
The same couldn't be said on his soiled clothes though...
Thankfully the washer was still intact. He would need to put his clothes back in the washer again to get all of the vomit off his clothes.
He didn't want to be called 'Vomit Boy', now did he?
The next thing he did that evening was get back to Coco to tell her what happened and why he left. Which only left the irritated agent to sigh in frustration and relief. More so for Ruby's safety and the paperwork she would have to fill out to request a brand new dryer for their apartment.
Though the government agent looked pissed off at Jaune for leaving her like that in a fill of suspense. She was grateful that he helped Ruby out from that little situation.
Which is why he was out here doing hanging is newly washed laundry today.
With that said, he quickly pinched the shirts into the line. Finally finishing the clothes line with all of his shirts, shorts, and other clothes neatly put up for the sun to dry and on the clothes pins.
The teenage human wiped some sweat off his brow to see the sun was still shining bright and was definitely going to dry his clothes for the early afternoon.
"You know what? I think we should eat out here for the afternoon." Jaune exclaimed out to Ruby. "Its a beautiful day and the sun is shining, I'm gonna make us some tuna sandwiches, that sound good to you Ruby?"
"Sure thing." She replied with a smile.
With both of their stomachs wanting to make their presence known by groaning in hunger. Jaune quickly went to work to satiate their appetite by making the tried and true tuna sandwich.
With mayo, green onions, and some hard boiled egg for flavor, chopped up and put into a wonderful wheat bread with a side order of crispy potato chips, and two glasses of lemonade to top off a delicious little lunch for the two on a sunny afternoon.
With both sandwiches in hand he headed back to the balcony to gave his dullahan homestay a nice little meal. Ruby thanked him for the wonderful food as she began to tear into her sandwich. When he sat down on his chair he finally began to eat his, albeit at a slower pace compared to his friend.
After a couple of minutes Ruby was finished with her lunch, a satisfying sigh as she demolished Jaune's cooking once more. Jaune was still nursing his sandwich and looking out into the city of Vale, admiring the high buildings and other shops from this second story view.
The city was beautiful in its own right. Vale had this weird rustic charm to it. Multiple apartment and hotel buildings full of people living their lives in this wonderful city, while others vacation here as it is a tourist city.
Jaune thought he would be a small fish out of water here in a town like this, coming from a farming town like Ansel, but honestly...
This place just felt like home to him...
"Ruby," The girl looked at him. " We'll head out to some clothing stores in a few minutes alright?" Which got him a demure anwser from the young woman.
"Ok..." Jaune wanted to pry from her attitude, but he didn't want to upset her because of it.
He wished he could do something for her. She just needed to be more comfortable around him and she knows she could confide to him if she had any hidden issues.
But maybe she isn't ready to tell him.
As his thoughts plagued him, Jaune went to take a bite out of his sandwich once more, but before he could...
"Meow."
Jaune stopped mid bite as he perked up by the melodic sound that he heard just now. He looked around the balcony for the sound of a familiar animal when he was in his home town.
"Ruby... did you hear that?" Jaune said to the girl.
"Yeah... I did. But where is this noise coming from?" Jaune knew what made that sound as he has seen stray cats at his farm whenever it was a very cold winter during the seasons.
"Meow."
He heard the feline cry out once more, and this time he looked up on the clothes lines and was surprised to see the little thing on the clothes string that held his laundry.
"Hey there little fella." The blond noticed that it was a slender black cat, the eyes of the feline a deep yellow and golden color. The poor thing however looked a little too thin in his opinion as he could see its ribcage with some dirt and grime matted on the fur here and there.
"Oh you poor thing..." Jaune quickly went towards the feline, cautious as its pupils dilated, its body tensing to prepare to pounce and started hissing at him as a warning to back off.
"Jaune!" Ruby called out in worry that he would get hurt by this furry thing.
"Its ok Ruby, I've got this." He reassured her and looked towards the kitten. "I'm not gonna hurt you little guy, I only want to check you out ok?" He placed his hands out to the poor cat to reassure the little fur ball that he was docile.
It took a few seconds to see that the human pulled nothing nefarious from behind his back. The black cat looking at Jaune like it was observing him, scanning him for anything hostile on his form.
But after couple more seconds it realized that the blond was being genuine after all. Something cat could feel, Jaune's kind nature was around the young lad like an aura of heat.
He like a warm blanket that you could just snuggle into and feel safe in his arms.
With that decision made the feline jumped off the clothes line into the arms of the blue eyed blond. "There we go.. nice and easy little fella." Jaune started scratching the top of its head, making the kitten purr and rubbing its head into his chest.
"Jaune... What is that?" Ruby questioned, as she has never really seen certain animals due to being reclusive in the afterlife for most of her time.
"This cute wittle fella is a black cat." He continued petting the feline as it continued its lovely purring, adoring the attention and pets that the human gave it.
"Sounds like you a lot of experience with these... things." Commenting about the overly affectionate cat against her host. Starting to feel a little tingle of jealousy from how much attention it was getting.
"Sometimes strays show up here in Vale, and usually they don't have anywhere to go. So they fend for themselves out in the city or in the wild. I used to take care of stray cats alot at my home town farm where my family lives." As he said that the skinny kitten looked at the blond with a cute little kitty eyes, melting his heart even more.
"Hold on little fella. You must starving with how you are right now, I'll be right back." Jaune said as he went back into the house to quickly fetch some food for the stray.
Not even a few minutes later, Jaune had a plate full of canned tuna piled up and a bowl full of water for the hungry kitten.
"Here you go, all of this tuna just for you." The cat in question looked at the pile of delicious fish suspiciously, wary of any tricks or deception from the blond teen. "Go on, eat up! I've got plenty of more where that came from if your still hungry." Finally after a coaxing the black cat it went towards the plate to start eating.
The black kitten was ravaging the tasty fish treat as it was gobbling the food like it was the most delicious thing on Remnant. Bite after bite was taken from the cat as it filled its belly full of tuna, taking sips of water here and there.
After a couple of minutes the plate was empty, small shreds of the fish on the cat's face as it licked around its face, purring in satisfaction after the wonderful meal.
"Glad you enjoyed it kitten." Jaune smiled at the little feline. The black cat in question sped walked towards the blond teen and started rubbing its head on the man's leg and purring up a storm in a sign of a thank you.
He picked the cat up and rubbed his hands through the ears, getting a happy meow as the cat started licking him affectionately, being more friendly compared to the past couple of minutes.
"Hehehe... affectionate little guy aren't you?" The cat tilted her head and looked a little grumpy when he said that.
"Meow." The kitten responded like it was offended and pawed at the human with her sharp claws.
"Ouch." He felt the little sting on his arms, but got the message clearly as he noticed the smaller and slender figure in his arms. "Oh I'm sorry. I didn't know I had a prim and proper lady in my arms." Jaune went to apologize to the little kitten, scratching behind her ears and making her wiggle and purr loudly in his arms from the affection given. As Jaune continued to baby talk and cuddle the dirty kitty.
Meanwhile a certain Dullahan girl looked on the scene with confusion and honestly was starting to feel a little bit more jealous of that cat.
"What's the big deal? Its just an overgrown little hairball. Hmph, I can give Jaune all the love and care he needs compared to that little dirty cat." She pouted a bit, but was able to regain her composure and was going to salvage this situation before this furball got more of her soulmate's attention.
"AHEM!" Clearing her throat, as the noise broke Jaune out of his cuddling spree with the cat.
"Oh! hehehe... sorry Ruby." Jaune's cheeks flared up in embarrassment from seeing that little display of cuddling the cat.
"If your done feeding this fuzzball, you do remember we were going go out right about now?" The reaper girl reminding the blond to keep on track.
"Oh jeez your right!" He exclaimed as he put down the kitten and rubbed her head one last time. "Sorry about this kitty, I hope you can find yourself a good home with someone." As the cat only rubbed her head against his hand one last time as the human walked back into the apartment. "Come on Ruby let's get going!"
"Alright I'll be right there in a second my soulmate!" Ruby looked at Jaune's form before turning back around and looking at the dirty black cat just sitting on the balcony and giving the feline a little smug smile and stuck her tongue out at the feline.
"That's it furball, run along now. Jaune's only got room for one good girl and that's me." She thought as she went into the apartment and followed Jaune to spend their day together, leaving the black feline on the balcony.
The dirty kitten however narrowed its eyes at the reaper girl, the yellow eyes staring at the retreating pale woman with a look of disdain
But that was ok with her, in fact she was used to this.
Its met the sting of mockery time and again, but in the end the cat always got what she wanted in her life.
Whether that food, affection, or freedom.
And what she wanted now was a new home.
The human was kind of enough to give her food. His heart felt pure when he showed his love when cuddling her.
Other mean humans would try and capture her for no reason, and when she escaped captivity it seems life was just kicking her while she was down.
Just when she was trying to survive, all those humans did was turn her away or try and hurt her when she was just trying to live and stay hidden from the vile suited humans.
Being her in Vale almost made her give up on these horrible humans, like there was nothing but hatred and malice in their hearts. That they had nothing offer her.
But this blond... this 'Jaune' as the rude girl called him. He didn't look at her like a prize to be found and captured he didn't treat her like a pest to get rid of or shoo off.
Without even blinking an eye, he gave her food, water, and affection. Affection she was usually unfamiliar with in her life.
The feline could tell that this blond human was different, this human Jaune was one that it could rely on for protection and comfort when she needed it most. He had a big heart that was full of warmth.
Plus... the tuna was definitely a huge motivator for the cat. If this wonderful human had more of that and other fishy goodies in that apartment?
She might as well cuddle herself up to him and call him master.
With her resolve set in motion, the female cat wanted to stay here and would do anything to live in comfort for once in its life.
The first thing objective for her was to find a way into its new home.
And lucky for her, she saw a slightly ajar window when she was on the clothesline on the way here.
If the cat could smile in front of the pale bratty girl, it would of have been full on grinning in her face.
She couldn't wait to see the look on rude little brat when comes home...
(City Shopping Strip, 1:00PM)
Both Jaune and Ruby were walking through the shopping district of Vale, store upon store located at their sides.
While Jaune was quite comfortable with walking alongside the shopping strip, having been dragged to the stores and shops thanks to his older sisters.
Ruby was... a little nervous.
Her hand was gripping his right very tightly as her body was close to his own.
"You ok Ruby?" He noticed the girl putting her hood up as she noticed some people look at her funny.
"I'm... not the best with being the center of attention." the girl said, as she noticed a lot of people giving her strange looks and muttering to themselves.
"Ah, just ignore them. They probably aren't used to Liminals fully yet." He noticed people looking towards them, some had the gall to bring out their scrolls to take pictures of him and Ruby walking along the shopping strip.
"Why is the girl's skin so pale?"
"She looks like she doesn't have any skin complexion?"
"Maybe she's a shut in kind of person?"
"Her eyes look very strange, you think she's one of those Monster Girls?"
"They look like that? That's kind of weird."
"Jeez can these people keep their comments to themselves." Jaune started giving the people all around them some narrowed looks, scaring some of the people off. He never knew that the people of Vale could be so rude, Ruby was just a normal girl here. Even if she was a monster girl and this was shocking to some people, it shouldn't make people act like there is something wrong with Ruby.
Liminals were people too damnit! Ruby doesn't deserve to be looked at like some kind of alien or zoo attraction.
Noticing her homestays mood getting a bit sour, Ruby decided to look at the blond with a sad little smile, removing her hand from his warm embrace.
"Jaune." The girl wished she brought her scythe with her, it usually made a little more confident when around people.
"Huh... what's wrong Ruby?" Noticing her hesitation.
"I...I don't know about this." Ruby stopped walking suddenly. "Maybe we should try doing this another time..." She rubbed her arm as a nervous habit.
However he clasped both of his hands together in her own, making her gasp out and look at his smiling face.
"Nonsense! Trust me, we are gonna have fun today! Just you and me looking around this city, enjoying the sights!" His smile just felt so infectious she couldn't help but get a little more pep in her step.
"You sure?" The reaper girl smiled a little more.
"Absolutely! Let's find a good shop for some clothes for you. Then we do whatever you wanna do." Jaune reassured.
"Ok sure!" She looked around at all the stores and sweatdropped.
"Uhhhh... Jaune."
"What's up Ruby?"
"I... I don't know what store to even start with." The Dullahan girl pointed her fingers together, chuckling out nervousness. "There's just so many of them around in the city I can't really choose which one would be best for me when it comes to clothes. Hehehe... Sorry."
But it didn't deter the blond in the slightest as he still smiled towards the girl, taking her hand in his once more.
"Well... Let's just start somewhere and see where it takes us alright?"
"Roger that soulmate!" As she instead wrapped her arms around his, sighing out in comfort by being near the one person that can console her from feeling nervous. With that they both took off towards the shopping strip of Vale.
Little did the two know that not too far behind them, a woman in a burgundy colored suit with faint messy magenta hair and the hint of a soul piercing blue eye was following them. However no one could see any further on her face as beanie was covering the top of her head
Her mission from her boss was to follow the couple's movements throughout the day. Coco told her to keep an eye on the new host Jaune Arc to see if he does anything kind of rule breaking when it comes to any... sexual acts or kinds of dirty play involved with his homestay.
Of course she told her to stay incognito and to make sure she doesn't get spotted by the two. But she couldn't help being a little nervous around Vale's crowd. Especially if they saw her 'glaring' problem and continued to gaze at her.
And she meant that literally because she only has one eye.
It was never easy taking orders from Ms. Adel. She is always a strict executive when comes down to execution and this little recon trip was no exception.
But since this is her job and she wanted to be apart of M.O.N she needs to suck it up and follow these two per her bosses orders.
Speaking of whom, she quickly took out her scroll as she heard her ringtone, knowing it was probably her boss wanting a report.
"This is May reporting in." The girl said with a professional tone in her voice as she answered.
"How's our points of interest doing right now?" Agent Coco asked.
"So far so good. It seems that the blond guy calmed down the Dullahan girl and they going towards one of the clothes shops in Vale." She heard a serious tone of voice on the other side like it was life or death.
"What type of clothing store are they going to?"
"It seems they are going to a place called Color Clothing." She saw the two go into the doors of the multicolored store. But the girl heard a sigh of disappointment from the mocha haired woman. "Something wrong boss?"
"Eh... that store is good for a beginner in fashion, but there are definitely better stores than that place if you want style. " May only looked at the screen in confusion.
"Excuse me?" May repeated.
"I mean the fabric isn't a complete dumpster fire on their clothes, but could they at least have a bit more style?! Most of their coats are definitely super tacky."
What was her boss talking about? Wasn't this about watching the blond to make sure he can be trustworthy?
Why did this shift to fashion all of a sudden?
"Uhhhh Ma'am?" The magenta haired girl trying to get her to stop as the conversation started to get a little more off topic.
" I mean if I was a novice at being at clothes I still wouldn't get any of their wares. Top of the line wouldn't be good enough for my taste in that store."
"Boss."
"Hell I wouldn't wish any of those abominations on my worst enemies, because that would just be... ugh... a fate worse than death."
"Ms. Coco!" She yelled towards the scroll to snap her boss out of her tangent. Which caused some people to look towards the suited woman, muttering out a shy sounding 'sorry' in advance.
"Yes Ms. Zedong?"
"Shouldn't we get back on track with the mission?"
After a small bount of silence, Coco cleared her throat while her cheeks sporting a blush as she was acting unprofessional with one of her coworkers on the job catching her in the act. "Right... just continue to follow the two May, and disregard what I was talking about." The human agent adjusted her sunglasses as she said to get her cool composure back.
"Roger that." She was about to hang up, but something was bugging her about this. "Before I go boss. There is something I got to ask."
"Go ahead Agent Watchtower." The name only causing May to roll her one eye. They really need to work on cooler nicknames, but when Penny is in charge of your unit you tend to just roll with what you got.
"Why exactly am I watching out for this guy? Shouldn't you be doing your duties as the Liminal Coordinator be checking this Jaune guy daily?" May knew Coco would shove certain things on her and the crew when she didn't want to do it, but just spying on a certain person for no reason?
Well it just felt like a waste of time to the beanie wearing woman.
Instead of a stuttering or nervous deflection from her boss she got right to the point.
"I have Penny, Elm, and our new girl investigating a Liminal smuggling ring. Right now I'm following up a lead and looking into trying to bust one of the facilities that could be into the underground of Vale." she said quietly to the agent.
"And you didn't think putting Velvet in charge of the operation would have been better plan? Instead of... you know... skirting your coordinator spying duties? Shouldn't I be with my team, why am I doing your job?" May was starting to get annoyed now.
However the next words cut off her frustration. "I got these orders from top brass of the program May, the Oz man himself." Which made the girl gasp a little. "Yeah that big guy. Apparently he's thinking along the lines of Vale's no good criminal mastermind Roman Torchwick and his gang of smugglers is behind these kidnappings of Liminals." Coco explained.
Roman was a real piece of work in Vale's criminal underworld. Guy was a real crafty weasel that knew how to steal and get his hands on all kinds of valuables, whether they be priceless artifacts, Lien, Dust, even drugs and other narcotics.
But Liminal smuggling was a fairly new commodity for these gangsters. Since the treaty with humans and liminals is still fresh, they try to press their luck to get obtain girls that slip through the cracks with the program and any other Liminals that are ignorant of the rules.
Trying to use them for high ransom if their are royalty, either that or for slave labor and even sexual pleasure. May had to admit she was disgusted on what these scumbags did with other monster girls.
"Right now Bravo Team is also in the area as they are trying to find one of the girls that escaped their grasp recently." Coco informed. "Apparently the Werecat Tribal Princess Blake Belladonna was the one that got away and now she's here somewhere in Vale. Possibly trying to hide from being captured again." That's not good, as some international incident could occur if she isn't found, accusations will start flying and then the human-liminal relationships could be strained and potentially have other races of other kinds question humanity faithful nature.
"Has this reached the leader of the Werecats?" May said with an certain urgency in her tone.
"Not yet. We are trying to make sure this incident doesn't turn into cause for panic right now. Meanwhile Sienna Kahn from Bravo Team is making it her upmost duty in trying to find where Blake could be." May nodded in agreement, if there was anyone who could track down another Liminal via scent or tracks it was Sienna.
Meanwhile Coco had been trying to find a trace of Werecat for a couple of days. The agent knew that Blake could take other forms as it was on the file for her. But so far it was no dice. No panthers or any other big cats she usually turns into were running around the city.
"I'll give that girl something, she really doesn't want to be found." The human agent commented sighing out her frustration as she felt the bags over her eyes were heavy by trying to find this girl with almost 2 days of no sleep and no leads at all about where she is.
But who could blame her? She was almost put in as a slave or smuggled goods from the scum of Remnant. So of course she was gonna make sure she wouldn't get captured again, whether the HDA or her task force were helping out to find her or not.
"But May listen...The reason I want you watching Jaune and Ruby is two-fold. I want you to make sure they are acting accordingly to the treaty as you keep your eye on them." Her boss instructed.
"The second is that watching them could prevent anymore kidnappings from happening to host families, if we show we are watching them out on the streets, they will start backing off of those liminals." Coco continued. "Right now you're the only one I can trust with Honey's protection. Can you do that for me?" The agent asked.
"Consider it done boss." May nodded her confirmation.
"Awww, I knew I could count on you Mayday! Now follow the blond noodle and reaper girl. Keep your eye on the prize. Eye hope to see results from our favorite one eyed markswoman." Coco smirked at the woman before hanging up the phone.
May Zedong only sighed from that last little corny joke. As her singular deep blue eye just closed in frustration.
"Yeah boss, why don't you just throw salt in the wound here about my eye here. Cause making jokes is really helping my self conscious issues." With that thought out of her system she proceeded to walk towards the clothes store that the two walked into, slowing her steps to make her blend into the crowd.
The store Color Clothing was definitely the place for Ruby's needs
There were tons of variety when it came to women's clothing here. From dresses, to designer style shirts, jackets and coats, tank tops, and a plethora of other clothing for Ruby Rose to chose from here.
Jaune also started blushing as he also saw some of the swimsuits, bras, and bikinis that would look good on the Dullahan girl.
Especially a specific scarlet colored two piece that would go great on her pale body.
His naughty thought took his imagination to seeing what other kinds of clothes that would make the reaper girl look even more sexy.
He heard some snapping fingers in his face as he came back from his depraved fantasies.
"Jaune? Are you good?" His homestay asked.
"Huh? What happened?" Jaune was a little shook.
"You zoned out for a second there. Are you feeling alright?" Ruby's face full of concern
"Yes! I'm fine!" His face burned from embarrassment from being caught daydreaming like that.
"Alright if you say so." The girl giggled out.
"Well enough daydreaming. How about we find some stuff that you'd like to wear Ruby." quickly changing the subject. As they both went to the clothes racks to check out the spread.
Having done shopping with his seven sisters. Jaune had a good eye with how things worked around here as he explained what certain kinds of clothes were good to wear during this time of year.
Since it was in the middle of summer here in Vale, they had a plethora of swimsuits and bikinis that woman needed whenever it was time for some sun and water at the beach.
Plus there were some summer dresses that said they were in season colors to make them look fashionable so you couldn't go wrong there.
Well that's he was always told anyway...
"Hey Ruby check this...out..." He would have finished but saw the reaper girl already in the darker colored dress section, picking out a red and black colored dress with a checkers pattern. Giving it a gothic lolita look as she continued to zip around the aisles, looking for kinds of clothing.
"Ooooh. I like the look of these they look so cute!" She exclaimed to a certain T-shirt that she acquired that had red and black coloring on it.
"Guess she really only likes those colors." The blond commented as he saw her picking out another kind of punk rock shirt in one hand and a dark red sweater. He couldn't contain his little chuckle her enthusiasm was infectious.
While the colors weren't really in season and made her look like a checkers board, Ruby had quite the haul when she was done picking out what she wanted. Rock and Metal styled shirts with black and red color, some tank tops, girl shorts, a pair of black and blue jeans, and some dark red sweaters and a spaghetti strap in there as well.
The biggest surprise for the blond was when she showed off a red one piece swimsuit she picked out.
The blond was wide eyed when he saw the number. It looked pretty revealing to him as the fabric looked pretty tight and the undercut at the top looked a little loose that would probably show off more cleavage then usual.
"Well color me surprised." Jaune thought. With how conservatively she dressed he didn't really think the dullahan girl would want to get a swimsuit, much less one like this.
However his imagination was starting to get more risque a ruddy blush on his cheeks at the thought of Ruby being in something a bit more...saucy in his mind per say a frilly black bra and panties.
But after a few seconds of that imagery he quickly banished that thought from his mind and shook off thar perverted way of thinking. Didn't want himself falling into temptation like that.
"Got everything you wanted to try on Ruby?" Jaune asked, getting his composure back together.
"Yep. This is all I want to try on." The reaper responded as she had a bunch of clothes on hangers on each side.
Once she was all done with that they went towards one of the workers there. "Excuse me, is there a dressing room that my friend here could use?" Jaune asked one of the young female clerks at the front.
"Yes sir there is. To the left of the side of our store will be our dressing areas for you and your girlfriend." She explained with a practiced smile on her face. However the comment made the blond chuckle out nervously.
"W-Wait she's not my girlfriend." He tried to correct the clerk, but Ruby beat her to it.
"That's right ma'am. This lovely gentlemen is not my boyfriend." She puffed up in a show of confidence.
"Thank you Ruby I really ap-"
But as he said that the reaper girl hugged his arm right into between her surprisingly ample chest.
"He's my soulmate!" She exclaimed proudly to the young woman.
"RUBY!" Jaune squeaked out as he looked at her in surprise.
"Oh my~ I didn't know that you two were that intimate with each other." the clerk said with a teasing tone.
"Oh we are," The Dullahan girl all smiles from that little comment. "Our souls are intertwined with each other." which only made the girl giggle.
"OK! I think that's enough of that." Jaune grabbed the pale reaper and led her to the changing rooms before she said anymore clearly missed context comments. "Thank you for pointing us in the right direction ma'am." After they were gone the girl only let out a chuckle, smile plastered on her face.
"They looked so cute together." She said as she went back to standing for the next customer.
After locating the dressing rooms, Jaune noticed a couple of benches and even a T.V playing the news in the upper part of the dressing rooms.
However Ruby was feeling very concerned as she looked at the dressing door like it was mountain that she was afraid to climb.
"Are you alright Ruby?" Jaune asked.
But she only mumbled her reply to her host.
"I just don't want..." The blond only heard those words from the dullahan girl.
"Just don't want to what?" Jaune replied.
"I just don't want to embarrass myself ok?!" The girl said with some distress in her voice.
"Why would you feel embarrassed about all this Ruby? You're just trying on some new clothes, there's nothing bad about getting some new clothes for yourself." This was odd, for some reason she was nervous about this whole clothes shopping escapade.
But he couldn't understand why she would be against this, from his experience with all of his sisters they usually love coming to Vale for shopping trips.
She only motioned towards her body. "I just don't... I don't feel like I'll look good in any of these clothes. Its why I picked my favorite colors on these picks." Her pale face went flush from that comment.
"My figure isn't like any of the other girls I see in those magazines that those humans do. I feel like I just can't compare." As her head hung down in shame.
However she quickly felt two hands place themselves on her shoulders. The reaper girl looked at the blonde.
"Is that really what you're worried about?" Jaune questioned, in only which Ruby nodded sadly. "Jeez, you had me worried there for a minute." The blond sighed out.
"What do you mean by that Jaune?" quickly getting defensive from what he said.
Ruby... it doesn't matter to me what you wear. I like you for who you are, not for your body, not for the clothes you wear, or how you look. I like you for you." Ruby could only look at him in shock.
"B-But I look so different compared to other human girls." Ruby whispered out towards him.
"And yet out of all the other girls to hang with, I'd choose you." Shutting down her excuses, making her dark sclera eyes widen in hope.
"You really mean all of that don't you?" Her face curving upwards into a watery smile.
"Alway will," The blond replied. "Besides we are here to have a good time and that's what we are gonna have right?"
"Right!" heart-warming smile showing on her face, with that said she went into the dressing room with slight boost of confidence, looking to impress the man that has been there for her.
Her body and head's hearts beating faster than usual, the thought of showing off for Jaune made her a nervous wreck but at the same time...
It excited her.
"She has a very pretty smile." The blonde's mind thinking about her other features that he could really appreciate. However instead of trying to get away from thinking about Ruby in lewd lingerie, his mind drifted to her other factors that she had that made her special.
But now that he was waiting for her to change into one of her new outfits, Jaune didn't really have much to do as his scroll didn't really have any fun games he could play to pass the time.
With boredom setting in he turned toward the only thing making noise. He noticed that the T.V talking about some news report as he noticed that Vale's finest reporter Lisa Lavender was on the broadcast.
"Hello everybody, I'm Lisa Lavender and this is our top story today. The Homestay Department Association is putting at a missing person's report. As one of the newly associated Liminal representatives for the Human Liminal treaty has gone missing." The T.V said as they showed the picture of the missing monster girl.
In Jaune's opinion she looked breathtaking.
The girl in question had raven black hair with similar colored cat ears adorning her head. Had the paws, feet, and a cat's tail that were the same color as her hair. But what stood out the most on the picture to Jaune were her amber yellow eyes that looked like gemstones to him. Like he could see the window of her soul through those orbs.
"Blake Belladonna. Werecat of the Feline Tribe has been missing for two days, as the search continues for her whereabouts and safety for the good of Human and Liminal relations. She was last seen in the Vale airstrip when landed to participate in the Homestay Liminal Program as she quoted wanted to 'Better the relationship of humans and werecats, and what better way than to live with one to start for a better tomorrow'."
"As of today there has not been signs of her since her arrival to the city of Vale. But one question is on everyone's mind, where is she now?"
"Many are speculating that the royal cat Liminal has been kidnapped by the notable criminal leader Roman Torchwick. We here at VNN (Vale News Network) wanted to have a word with the HDA to see what they plan to do about this situation and get their opinion on Belladonna's whereabouts, here is what the President of the Homestay program had to say." Lisa said as the video cut to a silvery haired man with black glasses and yellow eyes in a black suit with a cane in a room.
This was President Ozpin Pine, creator of the HDA organization, head of the M.O.N and Vale branch and leader of peace between humans and Liminals.
"I can assure you that we will be using everything in our power to find Ms. Belladonna and make sure she is safe and sound. I am sorry this situation has gotten to this level of panic, but I assure you that this will be fixed immediately." The man said with an authority that
"What if it wasn't a disappearance Mr. Ozpin sir? What if the human Roman Torchwick or even other rumored Liminals kidnapped her?" One of the reporters asked as all the reporters went silent from the question.
"As of now we have law enforcement investigating each and every corner to find her whereabouts if that is the case. Plus our elite agents of the HDA, along with their task forces are on the field if Liminal foul play is had for Ms. Belladonna's whereabouts. Make no mistake, we will do anything to have Liminals and humankind unified together in peace and harmony, no matter who or what it is, because that is what we do. " Jaune heard the man say with the utmost conviction as he walked off, still being bombarded with questions from other reporters.
"Poor girl. To just be dropped into a new environment just to get lost. I wish there was something could do." He really did feel bad for whoever this Blake girl was, he knew how harsh some people can be.
In his opinion, trying to make real connections with other people was hard for him. In his high school years he had different interests compared to other kids, which had him labeled as more of a dork by liking by liking Pumpkin Pete and other nerdy activities like playing video games and reading his X-Ray and Vav comics.
So growing up in Ansel wasn't too fun. He didn't really have too many friends, Ren was one of the only people that really kept in contact with him that he would genuinely call a friend after school. Other than that he had his family and his hobbies to keep him company.
However he couldn't imagine how hard it would be if he was a completely different species like this cat woman. Trying real hard to make connections with humans and then going missing right afterwards in unfamiliar territory?
That would be like if he was dropped off in another country without knowing any of the culture or language and no map.
Now that would be terrifying.
The blonde hoped that this Blake woman was located and doing ok. He couldn't stand the thought of anyone being kidnapped or missing for a long period of time.
Especially when all she wanted to do was connect humans and liminals together. The best scenario would be that she found a place to find shelter or at least find one of the HDA agents to keep her safe.
He couldn't bare to think about if she did get captured...
"Jaune! I'm ready!" Ruby called out from the dressing room, getting his attention from his depressing little thoughts.
As she said that the door to the dressing room opened and he saw what she was wearing.
It was one of the red sweaters along with some black jeans and some black boots to fit along with it.
"S-So h-how do I l-look?" Ruby said, face looking down and stuttering, waiting for a response from her host.
Jaune observed her and he couldn't help to have a small blush adorn his cheeks. Her figure was actually quite nice here in this outfit.
He would never admit this to her face. But her figure was... very attractive looking in these clothes. While she doesn't have huge breasts, she made up for in spades with her supple thighs and healthy posterior as those black skinny jeans brought those two assets to light in Jaune's opinion.
"Well... what do you think?" She continued to look nervous when Jaune didn't say anything. "Say something!" Ruby was starting to feel a little self conscious from the silence.
Finally after gawking too long Jaune found his wits about him and decided to comment before he made her even more upset, "They look great! This outfit is a really good look for you, definitely a similar kind of style that you rock with your original outfit." The words tumbled out of his mouth, as her face finally turned back into her usual cute smile.
"Really? You mean it?" Hope laced in her tone.
"Definitely. It looks amazing on you Ruby." His face with a small blush on his cheeks.
Ruby had a smile on her face now, her dark sclera silver eyes lit up in happiness. "Alright! then can you see which outfits look really good on me then? I'd really appreciate it if you could help pick out which ones look better on me." The girl said as she rushed back into dressing room, without an answer from the blond man.
After a couple of minutes later she came out with a more casual look with some black short shorts and a large T-shirt that said the words Gun's and Roses with a large looking rifle on the front with a some roses around the shirt. All in all in looked like a rock band shirt in Jaune's opinion.
"How about this one soulmate?" Ruby said to him with a now pretty smile on her face in Jaune's opinion.
In the blonde's opinion, the look definitely suited her. The Dullahan girl definitely looked like the kind of punk girl if she was an actual human. The shirt in question definitely showed her hidden assets that were covered up from her usual attire. Her pale thick thighs were definitely on display now, along with her actual C-Cup breast making a more noticeable appearance from her shirt.
"That looks good too. However Ruby, this also depends on how you feel in these clothes. So how do you feel in them?" Which got the reaper girl to look at the shirt and shorts with a questionable look before she but on a smile.
"I like it. It feels way different compared to the usual dress I wear for my reaping duties. I think I'll keep this little number." She said as she went once more into the room. "Alright time for the next one!" Excitement in her tone.
Time went on as each new outfit Ruby put on was better than the last to Jaune. The Dullahan girl had this aura of beauty that he couldn't help but be entranced.
He could remember each outfit, each one showing a different side of Ruby.
The black, red, and white gothic lolita dress she had on was breathtaking. The black majority with the red crosses made her have an elegant beauty, like someone from the upper crust of society back in the old Vale days. But it showed the blond how beautiful she could look in a more post looking dress.
She then switched gears from a beautiful dress to more casual attire as Jaune admit that the next piece made her look like an attractive model. Wearing a spaghetti strap tank top showing off her breast to the healthy young man with some shorts that showed off her legs, making the blond's blush intensify.
"Sooo... What do you think?" As she posed in her clothes like some kind of magazine model, striking a pose with her bare legs out in the open, showing off her healthy thighs.
"L-Looks great R-Ruby."
"I heard about this piece of clothing in the catalogs I used to read and I can't recall what this was called again, what was this piece of clothing called again Jaune?" The girl leaned forward towards the sitting human, his cherry red blush staying on his cheeks, now that he could see her pale chest pushed out, breast slightly strained in the fabric.
"I-Its c-called a spaghetti strap." He stuttered out quickly.
"Wait spaghetti? So this thing is edible?" Jaune' embarrassment was quickly forgotten as the blond looked at her with a raised eyebrow.
"We had to study up on certain parts of human culture before we traveled to Vale. Human food and dishes was one of them and spaghetti was a highlighted cuisine. So this was what they meant in the study book." She said as she bit the front of the shirt.
A few seconds later she made a disgusted face and stuck her tongue out.
"Blegh... that tasted terrible." Ruby wiping her tongue of the awful taste. "What's so good about this spaghetti anyways? It doesn't have any flavor like other human dishes." After that little display the wall cracked and she heard her host Jaune let out a hearty chuckle from it all. "Hey, what's so funny Jaune?"
"Ruby, you know spaghetti is an Italian pasta dish right? The outfit you're wearing right now is called a spaghetti strap." He continued to chuckle while explaining. But that only made Ruby's pale face burn up in a blush.
"W-Well I knew that! I was just testing you to keep you on your toes!" The poorly written lie was instantly found out as Jaune's chuckles turned into a full blown laugh from it all, his previous nervous swear forgotten as he was tickled about this funny situation instead.
"Stop laughing, its not funny!" Knowing that the excuse was flimsy Ruby retreated back into dressing room, ready to try on the next outfit and hiding her embarrassment. He wiped a tear from his face from it all as he continued to wait for Ruby.
"Haaaa... I needed that." Jaune felt a lot more comfortable now with his wits back with him and stopping himself any further from being a perv in his mind.
The blond teen knew better than to just ogle the Dullahan girl while she was trying on clothes, sure she asked for his opinion on outfits, but he didn't want to be just staring at her like she was a piece of meat.
His dirty thoughts however couldn't help but creep into his fantasies of the Dullahan girl.
The blond sighed out in frustration. He has had experience with observing different kinds of woman's clothing thanks to the tortuous trips with all of his sisters coming along when they did their family shopping trips in Vale.
While he and his father were the unfortunate pack mules for his mother and sisters. His many female siblings have always asked their brother's opinion on which dress looked better since they wanted a male opinion on the subject. They wanted to know what kind of style fit them and he always kept it professional when it came to them because they were family, plus they were usually thankful for the feedback.
Well not all of them were thanks to his oldest sister Jade being very picky in clothes, but regardless of that they definitely appreciated his help.
But this shopping trip?
This just... felt different to him.
Ruby and him had just started living with each other in the big building. Jaune admitted that they were starting to be growing friends these past couple of days. With having shared interests in playing video games, having fun cooking together, and all around just having fun with each others presence.
All around great time for all parties included!
However the biggest glaring factor here is that Ruby being an entire different species and the opposite sex...
Which now that Jaune sees her in this new light he can't help but see her as attractive.
The teen just couldn't help himself: He found girl just perfect in every outfit. From regal looking dress to unintentionally sexy with the spaghetti strap, whatever clothes she put on Ruby looked good in them.
And the hits kept coming with each outfit that she wore and showed him. Whether it be cute pajamas pants and a cute night shirt that a had a cookie on it, or some nice jeans that shows off her figure with a scarf and sweater he couldn't help but see Ruby as nothing short of gorgeous.
Luckily, she was almost done as she had picked out the outfits that she wants to keep in a good sized pile. But she said this was the last outfit she wanted to try on.
She didn't necessarily say what it was, so Jaune was curious on what she picked out.
Which is why this last outfit made his heart stop when she came out of the changing booth.
The girl in question was wearing the saucy looking crimson colored one piece swimsuit that looked perfect on her body if Jaune was being honest. He covered his nose as a little blood started coming out of his nose.
"Does she have any idea how attractive she looks right now in this swimsuit?!" The blond wondered, having trouble looking at the sexy looking reaper girl, unfortunately some of that blood he was spewing from his nose was going south to a particular organ.
Her body looked like a runway model. As her curves were out on display with the pose she struck, her hourglass hips were out on display, along with her thick thighs and perky rear being two assets being highlighted in this wonderful one piece.
"How's this swimsuit look on me Jaune?" She asked, posing with one arm bent grabbing the other one straight up over her head.
The previous nervousness was back with a vengeance was this one as Jaune couldn't help how attractive Ruby looked in this swimsuit.
"You... you're..." His red blush intensified even further on his face, his whole body looking like a red lobster. Trying to look away from her.
But Ruby kept pressing him, insistent on a clear answer.
"I'm what Jaune?" obsidian and silver color orbs looking in his direction as her body pressed into the blonde, her breasts squashed against his chest.
"I think you look beautiful!" He blurted out.
The comment caused the Dullahan girl to widen her eyes from the compliment.
"B-Beaut..." She didn't know how to take that response, the girl had never had a compliment like that from either of her previous hosts. The first family thought she was just weird looking and scary with how she looked and the other bowler hat guy was just a rude jerk that just made snide comments about her.
So... this was actually a positive for her!
"Oh my gods. A positive compliment from one of the first humans that I actually like. Come on Ruby respond appropriately."
However her tongue felt like lead as she couldn't think of anything to say. The words not coming out, making the whole situation awkward for both parties.
With nothing else said and the only thing the Dullahan girl could think of. With the speed of a gunshot she was already in the dressing room with the door locked.
With that now awkward moment passing for both of them, Ruby was finally finished with her last outfit as the swimsuit was the last piece of clothing. The silent duo went to the counter back to the young brunette woman they previous chatted with.
"Did you find everything to your liking?" voice full of joy. She looked at both of them as they both refused to look at each other as massive blushes were plastered on their faces.
"Yes..." Ruby said softly as she looked down at the floor as Jaune spoke up next.
"These are all of the clothes that she wanted to purchase.." As Jaune handed the clothes to the store employee.
"Excellent! I'm glad you could find what you're looking for at Color Clothing!" She said as she bagged the clothes. "Were the choices you made to your standards?"
"Yeah... you could say that." As Jaune nervously scratched his head, causing the woman to giggle at the two's nervous forms.
The woman rung up the total of all the clothing together that Ruby decided to buy. "That'll be $210.59." she explained.
"Yikes." The blond man thought. He knew shopping with his family got pretty expensive. But that was with seven other people and this was just for Ruby. Thank goodness he had funds because of the homestay program giving him funds.
He gave the card to the clerk and turned back towards the nervous Ruby. "So Ruby do you want to do some more shopping around the strip or do you wanna do something else?"
"Um... Can we please find something else to do? Are there any of those video games we can play around here?" Ruby asked him with a hopeful tone.
Jaune brainstormed for a few seconds before he snapped his fingers with a knowing look on his face.
He knew the perfect place to take his Dullahan friend.
"I have just the place for us to go Ruby. Trust me you're gonna love it." Jaune said with a smile, but quickly lost it once he realized they were going to have to carry the clothes bags with them.
"Thank you for shopping at Color Clothing!" The lady gave the card back.
"Um... excuse me miss?" Jaune said with uncertainty.
"Oh I'm sorry I don't have my name tag on me right now. My name is Jessica." The woman said.
"Right. Anyways Jessica is there anyway we can... I don't know... keep the clothes here and pick them up a little later today?" The blond said sheepishly. "You see I'm part of the homestay program with my friend here." The blond gestured towards the shorter Dullahan girl.
"Oh! So you are part of the Liminal homestay program?" Jessica questioned, which got Ruby to nod in confirmation. "Well its not a problem here. The HDA had discussed when Liminal customers come in that we have our no charge delivery service sent the clothes back to your home. So you don't have to worry about lugging a ton of stuff around all day." The lady explained.
"Wow... that's convenient isn't it Ruby?"
"More like awesome! Thank you for helping take my clothes off my hands for now!" The reaper girl thanked.
"No problem Ruby! We try our best to satisfy all of our customers whether they be Humans or Liminals." Jessica had a beaming smile on her face.
"Well with that taken care of, ready to head on out Ruby?"
"You bet!" As they both left the store, the blond leading the charge down into the Vale city. Hot on their trail was Agent Watchtower, keeping a singular watchful eye on her objective from her boss as she shadowed the duo.
Agent Coco Adel was typing on her computer while looking over other files of certain hosts when she was in her office. The clicking and clacking was in full swing as she was emailing another agent in the company, hoping to get some kind of intel about Blake's whereabouts from the other M.O.N agents out in the Vale area.
Questions were definitely swirling around in her head for the werecat princess.
Like how did she escape? Who were the culprits of this kidnapping and how did they get the drop on her?
Those questions might never be answered as she continued to look for the Belladonna royalty as the agent took a sip of her 4th latte can this afternoon.
The fashionable agents office was a bit of a mess right now with vanilla folders spread out all over and a couple of her famous cold latte cans on it as well. Her brown eyes a bit sunken because of the lack of sleep as she and both Bravo and Alpha Team continued their searches.
The safety of the Werecat Liminal was top priority for her part of the Vale branch in her own eyes she couldn't afford to let this go on her watch.
But trying to find Blake wasn't the only issue that Coco had on her plate. What concerned her was Jaune and Ruby's safety, more importantly the Dullahan girls.
Surely Jauney wouldn't harm a fly on top of her head, but with this Liminal smuggling ring active they could go after Ruby if they wanted or hell any other monster girl that wants to visit Vale.
"Not on my watch you bastards." The agent thought as she continued typing.
Her thoughts were broken to the sound of her door opening and coming in was one of her recent best friends and partner in crime in the office of M.O.N, Velvet the Usagimimi.
"Hey boss." The brown haired bunny girl greeted the beret wearing agent.
"Hey Bun-Bun, what have you got for me?" Coco said as she peered over at the bunny girl and saw that she had a new file in her hand and internally groaned.
More paperwork it seems...
"Just here to give you another file. Apparently this request is top priority because of what family this comes from, came straight from Glynda so you have to read it now." The bunny girl handing the important documents to the sunglasses wearing agent.
The agent now groaned audibly as she had to stop what she was doing and read the file. Usually when Glynda and Ozpin send something to her it was always ahead of everything else in the organization. So she needed to stop what she was doing and read this.
Coco took the file and peered at it since it was so important. She couldn't imagine it being too important right?
However a couple minutes into looking at the file and her mocha colored eyes widened at what this said. When she finished skimming through she sighed out in defeat, rubbing her temples in stress from this particular request.
This did not go unnoticed by her friend Velvet as she looked her boss and friend, seeing her stressed like that couldn't be good and usually her friend didn't get this upset.
"Is everything alright Coco?" The bunny girl asked.
"Unfortunately no Velv, and I was looking so forward to getting on Arc's good side." She felt bad and knew this was coming, but she didn't think this would happen so soon. "I might as well rip the Band-Aid off now and get this over with."
On the desk the document stated a name, species of the girl, and who she wanted.
Weiss Schnee
2nd Princess of the Yuki-Onna Estate.
Request: Homestay that can accommodate her every need to the letter
Host Selection Candidate: Jaune Arc
And Scene!
So that was a chapter and a half.
Sorry if this chapter didn't feel as memorable, I wanted to split Ruby's time with Jaune as there was more to write here, but I felt it would be a bit too long for this chapter.
Plus I'm trying to mix in a more different feeling to it. Comedy and a bit of fluff, I hope I did well with the feels and the funny stuff.
Also mixed worldbuilding and finding out different clothes names you know nothing about is tough so that's another thing I'm researching.
Woman's clothes are not my forte.
By the way, don't worry Ruby's outing with our noodle boy is not quite done. They will continue next chapter.
Also I wanted some side plot that wasn't necessarily copying Monster Musume, but felt similar in nature.
Its why I wanted to add Roman and his goons as a sort of implied bad guy here. I know he wasn't the biggest asshole in RWBY. But I do like painting people as the bad guy.
So we have Ruby going out shopping with our blond knight. I wanted Ruby to be a little self conscious of modeling. Give her some kind of different feeling to her as she doesn't like showing off and feels nervous about modeling in different clothes.
Give her a sort of quirky awkwardness to her with Jaune. Plus I couldn't resist having her accidentally break a machine like the dryer or washer, so I decided on dryer being the first death in this fic.
Rest in piece dryer.
Also how about these other factors huh? We have May trailing our duo, A mysterious black cat, and Weiss the Yuki-Onna is going to be on the prowl for our blond knight.
Originally I had another plan for Weiss's introduction as a whole, but I'll save that for next chapter when she actually meets Jaune.
So yes Weiss and Blake are confirmed now as species, sorry if it wasn't as memorable as people wanted it to be.
But them's the breaks.
Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed this chapter and apologies for taking so long as usual. It takes me a little while to write and plan out my story.
But if you enjoyed this one. Leave a like or comment and if you want to PM me about anything just ask and I'll try to get to you if I am available.
Thank you so much reading and I'll see you in the next chapter, this is Irongiant9000 signing out!
Next Chapter: Chapter 4: Dullahan's Day Out Part 2
