A Duel to Remember

In a well-furnished apartment, a person was lying on a sofa, unconscious. That someone was none other than Yusei. He wasn't wearing his blue jacket at the moment. Without that, his black sleeveless shirt was more visible. Or... it should have been, it wasn't for a blanket that covered his body. There was also a blue towel that served as a pillow for his head.

Two other people watched over him. And those two were Leo and Luna.

"Should we wake him up?" Leo suggested.

Luna looked hesitant. "I don't know. Look at that mark on his cheek."

"What about it?"

"Remember that weirdo who used to clean the pool? When Dad came home and saw that guy had a mark on his cheek, he fired him. Dad said that mark meant he was in the Facility."

"So you think this guy was in the Facility too? Cool!"

"That's not cool you dork!" Luna scolded. "People who've been to the Facility are bad!"

Leo raised an eyebrow. "Well, talk to his card spirits. See what they have to say about him." He observed her as she placed a hand on top of Yusei's deck, which was placed on the table, and closed her eyes in order to focus. "Well?"

"They say that he's a very good person." She then opened her eyes and turned to him. "They also say he's very sad."

"I wonder what he's sad about. Maybe he lost his dog, or his hamster..."

"Ssshh!" Luna hushed him when she noticed Yusei stirring. "He's waking up."

Yusei opened his eyes and found himself lying on the sofa. He turned his head and came face-to-face with the twins. "Who are you?" He asked as he got up in a sitting position.

"We found you in the alley downstairs." Luna replied.

"You wrecked your bike." Leo added.

"You wouldn't wake up."

"So we brought you up here."

"You're heavy."

"My name's Leonard, but please, call me Leo." Leo introduced himself before gesturing to Luna. "This my sister, Luna. We're twins, in case you couldn't tell. Not identical twins, obviously. She's a she and I'm a he."

As Leo spoke, Yusei reached out for his dueling deck and grabbed it.

"So, uh, who are you, Mister? What's your name?"

Yusei hesitated before answering. "... I have no idea."

That was certainly a surprise for the twins. They didn't expect to meet someone who had no clue of who he was. "I never met anyone with amnesia before." Leo said as Yusei stood up.

"Where are we?" Yusei asked.

Leo smiled. "Check this out!"

"Leo, just answer his question and tell him where we are!" Luna told him.

But he ignored her as he made a motion with his right hand, causing some nearby curtains to be automatically pulled away, revealing what appeared to be a rooftop of sorts, with a swimming pool and plants. "Cool, huh? It's on a motion sensor. We've also got..."

"You're in our apartment." Luna interrupted. "In an area called the Tops."

"Nice huh? It's the best place in New Domino City. Only super rich people can live here."

"Leo!"

"How did I end up in that alleyway?" Yusei wondered.

Meanwhile, nearby

"Did you hear what I just said? There may be a fugitive in there!" Trudge said in anger.

The officer was at the base of a ramp leading up to the Tops. And he was currently arguing with a grey clad security guard.

"I understand, sir, but again, all street-level officers wishing to enter the Tops must present Search-and-Seizure form 23Q, which can be obtained by submitting an A-level warrant request to the district attorney and then, upon approval presenting the attendance..."

"BLAH, BLAH BLAH!" Trudge yelled, obviously annoyed by his words. "You've got some Satellite street rat in there wreaking havoc, just let me in!"

"All street-level officers wishing to enter the Tops must present Search-and-Seizure..."

"Alright, alright!" Trudge stormed away, having enough of the security guard's words.

"So, how'd it go?" An officer sitting inside a patrol car asked.

"Jeeves over there treated me like I was some second-class citizen." Trudge growled.

"I told you, Trudge, you gotta be an A-level detective in order to get in there without a hassle."

Trudge only got angrier as he slammed his fist on the car roof. "These Top-Security snobs actually think they're superior just because they guard the rich cats! But they're no better than us!"

"What do you want to do about the kid?"

"He's definitely in there, I'm sure of it. He's gotta come out eventually."

Meanwhile, somewhere else

Everything was dark. Really dark, as far as Cody could tell. He tried to move, but for some reason, his body felt restricted or something. He also realized that he had his eyes closed. So he decided to open them.

"(Cough cough!)" He coughed a little as he managed to open his eyes. Everything seemed blurry at first. "Where... am I?" He muttered while blinking a few times. Eventually, he could see clearly. He found himself in a small room, which was dimly lit by a lightbulb dangling from the ceiling. He squinted his eyes when he noticed a table standing near a corner. He noticed a duel disk and a deck case. He assumed those were his belongings. "What is this place?"

At that moment, he saw a door on the opposite end of the room open, allowing a woman in a black business suit enter.

"Ah, you're awake." She said with a small smile before walking over to him. She then took a nearby chair and sat down on it so she was right in front of him. "That's good, because I have questions for you. And if you know what's best for you, you better answer them truthfully."

Cody suddenly remembered the ambush he and his friends ended up in earlier. He then gave the woman a glare. "You... you're from the Morningstar Foundation, aren't you?"

The woman adjusted her glasses. "Correct. My name is Veronica. Mason Morningstar's personal secretary. A pleasure to meet you, Cody Cooper."

"What have you done to my friends?" Cody demanded.

"Not to worry. Your friends are unharmed. And wether they stay unharmed depends on you."

Cody clenched his teeth.

"Now then..." Veronica crossed her arms and legs. "Let us discuss about your family. As you know, your parents once owned New Domino Techno Corp, a successful company known for its technical products. They certainly earned plenty from the difficult machines they designed."

Cody kept glaring at her.

"However, despite their brilliance, your parents thought too small. They never realized how far they could get with their technological expertise. Which is why Mr. Morningstar decided to take care of it with his own hands. He will change the world for the better."

"And by that, you mean producing war machines to military! Which is why he killed my parents and took over their company!" Cody spat.

Veronica raised an eyebrow. "Producing war machines, you say? And where have you heard that from?"

Cody smirked. "Let's just say that my parents left me with information before they died."

"Hmm, is that so?" Veronica leaned closer to him. "That's good to hear. For you see, according to Mr. Morningstar, your parents designed something revolutionary. Something that they worked so hard to keep a secret. Something that is the key to his goal."

Cody got curious. 'What could it be that Mason tried to get from my parents?'

"As Cedric and Sandra's son, you must have heard of it from them." Veronica continued. "After all, they wouldn't entrust it to anyone but you. If you tell me everything you know, then Mr. Morningstar might consider to spare you and your friends. So, what do you say?"

Cody lowered his head and closed his eyes. After a short while, he spoke up. "Sorry, but my parents didn't tell me anything. I don't know what it is your boss wants so badly. Guess they wouldn't take any chances with him."

Veronica scowled and grabbed Cody by the collar and brought him close to her face. "I thought I made it clear for you. Things won't be pleasant for you if you don't give me the information Mr. Morningstar wants. So I'll say it again. Tell me what you know!"

Cody didn't answer with words. Instead, he cocked his head back and head-butted her.

Veronica hissed as she felt pain in her forehead. At that, she got angry and brought out a stun gun and hit it on Cody's neck.

"Gaah!" He cried out before he became unconscious.

She rubbed her forehead with one hand and snapped the fingers on the others, and two men in black suits arrived instantly. "Take him away. I believe he would like to talk to Mr. Morningstar himself."

"Yes ma'am." The men said as they approached Cody. Veronica turned around and began to walk...

Unaware that Cody's eyes opened again. Only this time... they glowed blue.

And just as Veronica took her first step out of the room.

"AAAAHHH!"

She had no time to react as the two men were suddenly sent flying, knocking her down on the floor. "Ugh!" She grunted as she tried to get up. She turned to the doorway, and was shocked to see Cody standing before her, equipped with his duel disk. Veronica could only stutter. "You... you are..."

Cody merely grinned evilly as he drew a card.

BOOM!

The door entrance of a small, grey building was sent flying. And then, Cody stepped out and walked away from the place.

"There you go. Does that help any?" Leo asked as Yusei was now wearing his jacket. "Now that you got your jacket on, take a deep breath and say 'My name is', and then, say your name!"

"He's tried that 10 times!" Luna said. "It's obviously not working, Leo."

"Well, it worked on TV!" Leo retorted before turning to Yusei. "I saw this guy on a show one time. He was helping people remember things they forgot like where they left their keys and stuff..."

Yusei's attention was drawn to a poster of a certain blonde-haired duelist. And standing in front of the poster were two small figurines. One of them looked like the same duelist on his duel runner. The other one looked like his signature dragon monster.

"Hey, what are you looking at?" Leo asked, noticing that Yusei didn't seem to listen.

"Those."

Leo followed his gaze and smiled when he saw what he was looking at. "Oh, that's my shrine. Jack Atlas is like my all-time hero. He's the greatest! No one can beat him in a turbo duel! And one day I'm gonna be a champ, just like Jack!"

"You can't even ride a normal bike." Luna pointed out.

"I stayed up for 12 seconds last time I tried!" Leo retorted before turning to Yusei again. "So does Jack Atlas mean anything to you?"

Yusei seemed thoughtful. "Yeah, but I don't know why."

"Maybe you're a fan of his too, or maybe you were hoping to duel him. I mean you are a turbo duelist?"

"How do you know that?" Yusei asked curiously.

"Uh, because we found you next to that duel runner."

When Yusei noticed his duel runner standing near a corner, he walked over to it.

"Am I right about you? Are you a big time duelist in town to duel Jack?" Leo asked excitedly.

"I don't think I'm a big time anything." Yusei replied as he checked on his duelist.

"Maybe you should try hypnotizing him, Leo?" Luna suggested, though it was sarcasm. That earned her an annoyed look from her twin brother.

"I know!" Leo ran over to his 'shrine' and grabbed an envelope that was placed near his figurines. "Mister, maybe you have one of these. I'll take it out, you'll tell me if it looks familiar."

"Okay."

Leo opened it and pulled out out a card of sorts with the image of a trophy with a pair of flags forming a cross in front of it. "Well? Does this ring any bells?"

Yusei took it to have a closer look. "The Fortune Cup?"

"Yeah, it's this big tournament between people KaibaCorp randomly selected. It's gonna be huge! And hey, hey, get this! They selected me! I'm gonna be in it!"

"Actually, they selected me." Luna corrected, earning an annoyed look from Leo.

"Technically, they selected Luna, but she's too scared to enter. So I'm gonna pretend to be her and enter and then win that thing."

"No one's gonna believe you're me, Leo."

Leo was now really annoyed and ran over to her. "Why wouldn't they believe it? We're twins, we look just alike!"

"I'm a girl. I'm pretty."

"I'll wear makeup!"

"Leo wears makeup.~ Leo wears makeup.~"

While the twins were bickering, Yusei stared at the invitation.

"You know what I think, Luna?" Leo asked smugly with his arms crossed. "You're jealous!"

"Why are we even arguing about this?" Luna questioned. "We still have a bad guy in our house."

"You don't know for sure that he's a bad guy, Luna! Maybe he was framed for a crime he didn't commit! That happens, you know! I saw it on TV once!"

"Um, he's still in the room."

"Huh? Uh..." Leo felt awkward as he turned to Yusei, who put the invitation back into the envelope.

"Thanks for trying to help me and everything, but, this Fortune Cup thing isn't ringing any bells." He then tossed the envelope, making it land perfectly on Leo's 'shrine'. "I should get out of here." He said as he headed to the elevator.

"Where are you going?" Leo asked.

"I shouldn't trouble you guys anymore."

"But you still don't know who you are!" And then, an idea crossed his mind. "I got it!" He then ran over to a closet.

"Just let him go, Leo!" Luna said.

"No, wait! Just, uh..." Leo rummaged through some stuff until... "Alright!" He found a blue and white duel disk. After getting it on his left arm, he rushed over to Yusei. "Before you go, mister, I've got one more idea. I challenge you to a duel, Mr. Amnesia Man!"

"He's got more important things to do." Luna insisted.

Leo turned to her. "This could help him! I saw this on TV one time! Jack Atlas was giving an interview and..." He then turned to Yusei again. "Jack said the way a duelist duels reveals who he really is. So if you duel, you might remember who you are. Come on, come on, come on! Let's duel!" As he pumped his arms, the duel disk slid down due to being too big. "Oh, dumb thing never stays on right. This is embarrassing. Just give me a second. I'll fix it up, and we'll be good to go. Just hang on, I gotta..."

As Leo tried to adjust his duel disk, something flashed in Yusei's mind as he stared at him. It was an image of a certain small boy with bushy red hair. Yusei smiled slightly. "I think you're reminding me of somebody. I don't know who, but... this might be good. Let's do this."

"You mean it?"

Yusei pressed a button on his duel runner, and then... "Disengaging duel disk." His duel disk rose up from it, allowing him to attach it on the mechanical wrist band on his left arm.

"Sweet! Good thing you remembered how to do that. Oh man, I'm gonna show you moves you've never seen before!" Once again, Leo's duel disk slid down, much to his embarrassment.

They decided to take this duel near the pool, right outside the living room. "Oh come on." Leo muttered as he tried to adjust his duel disk again.

"Let me help." Yusei kneeled down and began to fix it. "So where are your parents?"

"Oh, they're on a really important business trip."

"They're always on important business trips." Luna added.

"The hotel manager's in charge of us. We have tutors and stuff that come by every now and then..."

"So you don't remember who you are, but you remember how to duel?"

"See, the thing about Luna is she doesn't understand that not having our parents around all the time is the coolest."

"I see." Yusei replied as he finished adjusting the duel disk, by simply tying it to his wrist with some kind of clothing. "Well? How's that?"

Leo waved the arm a few times, seeing the duel disk staying in place. "It's perfect. Thanks, Mr. Amnesia Man!"

Yusei stood up. "What do you say? You ready to duel? You can have the first turn, Leo." He then walked over to a spot of the field.

"Yeah!" Leo then walked over to his spot. "I should warn you. My deck rules!" He activated his duel disk.

"I'm sure it does." Yusei replied as he got his own duel disk ready.

"Here we go." Leo said, getting excited.

"Let's duel!"

Yusei: 4000

Leo: 4000

"Ladies and gentlemen! The duel is on! The Amazing Leo draws!" Leo announced as he began his first turn. He looked at the card he drew. "That's what I'm talking about! I'm calling out Morphtronic Celfon!" From a flash of light, a yellow cellphone rose up before expanding into a robot, with the cellphone buttons for a chest, small aerials extending from its head, and the two halves of the cellphone screen extending up from its shoulders. (ATK: 100 DEF: 100 LV: 1) "Yeah! This guy's sweet! Now, my Morphtronics' special abilities change depending on wether they're in attack or defense mode. And since Morphtronic Celfon's in attack mode, it dials and randomly stops somewhere between 1 and 6. Then I take that number and flip over the same number of cards. If any of those is a level 4 or below Morphtronic monster, then I can summon it. Here we go-whoa!" Leo almost lost his balance due to the weight of his duel disk.

Luna sighed at this.

"You okay?" Yusei asked.

"It appears that Leo's duel disk is a little heavy." Leo said, rubbing his head.

"You should know, he narrates his duels." Luna pointed out.

"We need silence in the arena, people!" Leo said, turning to her. "This is a critical moment! The cellphone is dialing... now!" And with that, the numbers from 1 to 6 on Celfon's chest began to flash in sequence. After a short moment, it stopped. "And it stopped on 3! The crowd is tense." Leo drew three cards and looked at them. "Look at this! One of the cards the Amazing Leo has flipped is a level 3 Morphtronic Magnen! That means he can summon it!" A blue horse-shoe shaped magnet with red ends rose up on the field and began to morph, just like Celfon.

"The crowd goes wild!" Leo said as he made different kinds of noises that an audience would make. One of the magnet's ends unfolded to take the shape of a head, while the rest of its body unfolded and formed arms and legs. And thus, another robot was standing right next to Celfon. (ATK: 800 DEF: 800 LV: 3) "Next I place one card facedown and end my turn." Leo inserted a card into his duel disk. "And now, will Mr. Amnesia Man rise to the challenge?"

"Sometimes I can't believe I'm related to him." Luna muttered.

"I hope this jogs my memory." Yusei said to himself and began his turn. "I summon Speed Warrior." The warrior in grey speed suit appeared. (ATK: 900 DEF: 400 LV: 2) "And during the whole turn that Speed Warrior is summoned, its attack points are doubled."

"They're doubled?" Leo asked, wondering if he heard him right.

"That's right!" Speed Warrior charged forward as a strengthening aura surrounded him. (ATK: 900-1800)

"Celfon is doomed! But wait! What's this, ladies and gents? The Amazing Leo activates a trap card!" Leo narrated as he revealed his facedown card. "But will it be enough?" Speed Warrior span upside down, ready to land a kick. But Magnen got in his way and glowed brightly, making Speed Warrior stop. And when he pulled back, the robot morphed again, returning to its magnet form. "Amazing! Leo used his Morphtransition trap to put his Morpthronic monster in defense mode so he could block the attack!"

Yusei smiled a bit. "I think my memory's coming back."

"Looks like Leo's on the path to victory, people! There's no defeating him!" Leo narrated, spinning his right arm.

"It's a little early to get cocky." Luna told him.

"Just you wait. You're gonna end your turn, right?"

"I am, right after a facedown card." Yusei replied while inserting a card into his duel disk. (ATK: 1800-900)

"Well in that case, I'm up! I draw!" Leo drew his next card, and almost lost his balance again.

"Maybe you need a smaller duel disk." Luna said.

"No I don't!" Leo retorted before moving on. "From my hand, I summon another Morphtronic Magnen! But this time, it's in defense mode!" Another blue magnet appeared. (ATK: 800 DEF: 800 LV: 3) Right after after that, both magnets faced each other and created some kind of magnetic barrier. "Admit it, that's pretty awesome. When there's one Magnen on the field in defense mode, you can't attack any other monster. But this is an even better defense system, because now on the field I've got two Magnens! Which means I'm invisible!"

Yusei smiled again.

"I think you meant to say that you're 'invincible'." Luna corrected him.

Meanwhile, down the streets

"The streets are blocked."

"Get into position!"

There were a bunch of Security officers and patrol cars surrounding the place.

"Put your squad on the west gate." Trudge ordered. "Check everyone leaving the building. Old ladies. Everyone!"

"Got it!" One of the officers replied before moving out.

While all of this was happening, Blister watched from behind a corner. 'Those Sector Security goons have got the building surrounded, and if you don't figure way out, Yusei, you're going back to the Facility for good.'

Meanwhile, somewhere else

Cody, who now had his hood on, wandered around the streets. And his eyes still gleamed menacingly with its blue glow. "It's been a while since I got loose." He muttered to himself as he entered an alleyway. "Now what should I-Gah!" Before he could finish his sentence, he suddenly felt pain in his head and clutched it with both hands. And on top of that, the familiar flame-shaped mark appeared on his right arm again and glowed red. "Why you...! Stop that! Nnggh!" He grunted as he fell down to his knees.

At the same time, a woman with long black hair was walking nearby, until she suddenly stopped. It was like she sensed something.

Cody writhed in pain as his predicament continued. And then... "Gaaah!" He screamed in pain before the glow in his eyes vanished and he collapsed on the ground. He groaned as the mark on his arm vanished. Everything looked fuzzy to him. He tried to stay awake, but slowly lost consciousness. However, he saw someone approach him, right before he was greeted by blackness.

Back to Yusei's duel

"Ladies and gentlemen, this is incredible!" Leo said. "If Mr. Amnesia Man tries to attack the first Magnen, the second Magnen will absorb the attack. If he tries to attack the second Magnen, the first Magnen will absorb the attack! It's Magnalock! Mr. Amnesia Man has no hope whatsoever of breaking through Leo's defense! The unstoppable Leo is driving the crowd totally crazy!"

"You got that right." Luna replied.

"Now I'm going to use Celfon's special ability again. The cellphone is dialing... now!" The numbers began to flash again. "What's it gonna be? Where's it gonna stop?" After a moment, it stopped. "And it's a 2! Which means Leo can draw two cards." Leo drew two cards and looked at them. "And again, he's got a Morphtronic that qualifies! He summons directly to the field, Morphtronic Datatron in attack mode!" With that, a giant orange lighter appeared. And then, small arms folded out of its sides, and the bottom folded out into legs. And then, the top popped up to create a head with some kind of cannon sticking out of its head. (ATK: 1200 DEF: 600 LV: 3) "That's only the beginning of the awesomeness. From my hand, I activate the Gadget Box spell card!" The named card appeared on the field. "And thanks to this bad boy of a card, I'm now able to summon out one Gadget Token once every turn. So here comes the first!" The spell card glowed before a blue robot emerged from it. It had six arms, one each equipped with a tool. (ATK: 0 DEF: 0 LV: 1)

"How does he think a monster with no attack points and no defense points is gonna help?" Luna wondered.

"I've gathered all the parts. Now for my Datatron's special ability! By releasing one monster from the field, I can have Datatron dish out 600 points of direct damage! So by removing my Gadget Token..." The named monster turned into light particles that were absorbed into the robot's cannon. "I can now attack you! Go, Datatron Corrupter Cannon!" The robot fired a stream of flames that briefly engulfed Yusei.

Yusei: 4000-3400

When he recovered, he noted the strategy Leo used. "He uses weaker monsters in ways you wouldn't expect. That reminds me of..."

Flashback

"I summon Sonic Chick in defense mode!"

"I summon out Speed Warrior!"

"I summon Quillbolt Hedgehog in defense mode!"

Flashback end

"I did it, I did it, I did it!" Leo cheered. "I told you that combo could work, Luna! But you didn't think I could pull it off. But I did it! The crowd's going crazy for Leo's spectacular Morphtronic deck!"

"How long are you gonna celebrate your combo?" Luna asked.

"Oh yeah, uh, got carried away." Leo rubbed his head. "Anyway, now I'm gonna have Morptronic Datatron attack Speed Warrior!" The orange robot fired another fire stream.

"Not so fast! I activate the trap card Scrap-Iron Scarecrow!" Yusei's facedown card flipped up and released the familiar scarecrow that got in front of Speed Warrior and blocked the attack.

"What the...?" Leo's eyes widened.

"With Scrap-Iron Scarecrow, I can negate your attack." Yusei explained. "And what's more is that my trap card returns to its facedown position.

"So it won't go to the graveyard?"

"That's right." The scarecrow went back into the trap card before it returned to its facedown position.

"Looks like the challenger is still hanging on! The question is, how long will it last? Well, let's find out! Make your move, Mr. Amnesia Man."

Meanwhile in Sector Security headquarters

"What's the status on the Fortune Cup?" Goodwin asked, his back turned to Lazar. The two of them were discussing in the former's office.

"Invitations were mailed out as requested. Only two remain unsent." Lazar chuckled while holding up two envelopes.

"I assume that one of those is Yusei's. Where is he?"

"He recovered his runner. But when he did, that officer Trudge was there and he chased Yusei to the Tops. Now Trudge has the place surrounded."

Goodwin turned around to face him. "Wasn't Trudge told to back off?"

"Some people just don't listen. Perhaps I should go to him in person and remind him who's in charge before this situation gets out of hand." Lazar was about to leave before he stopped himself. "Oh, if you don't mind me asking, Director. Who is supposed to receive the other invitation?"

"That would be... Cody Cooper."

"Oh, Cody Cooper! You mean that young man who appeared in the Satellite a long time ago. The one who has no background info."

"The one and only. Have you located him?"

"We sent some officers to investigate the incident that was mentioned on the news. The one where some people chased someone on a duel runner, who we assumed could have been Cody. However, they couldn't find him anywhere." Lazar frowned a bit. "It's rather strange that someone other than us would be looking for him."

'And what's more is that the name Cody Cooper reminds me of something important.' Goodwin thought to himself. 'The question is, what? And who could possibly be chasing after him? And why?'

Back to Yusei's duel

"It's my turn." Yusei drew his next card and looked at it. After that, he discarded one of his other cards. "I send 1 card to the graveyard in order to activate the Card Rotator spell card." The named card appeared and glowed brightly, causing both Leo and Luna to cover their eyes.

"What's that do?" Leo asked.

"Well, Card Rotator changes the battle mode of every monster on your field."

"Huh? As in all of them?"

"That's right." The spell card fired some light beams that hit Leo's monsters, forcing them to morph again. The two Magnens were forced into their robot mode while Celfon morphed into its cellphone form, and Datatron into its lighter form.

"Uh, ladies and gentlemen, we're seeing an awful turnaround." Leo narrated worriedly. "The Magnificent Leo got..."

"Stop narrating, Leo!" Luna snapped at him. "Just focus on staying in the duel."

"But I'm toast." Leo whined.

"Not yet." Yusei said, getting his attention. "But after I summoned Junk Synchron, you might be." The orange, metallic tuner monster appeared. (ATK: 1300 DEF: 300 LV: 3)

"Ah! I am totally gonna lose!" Leo panicked.

"Well, with Junk Synchron in play, I can summon a level 2 or below monster from my graveyard in defense mode. So I summon to the field, Nitro Synchron." The nitrogen tank with limbs appeared. (ATK: 300 DEF: 100 LV: 2)

"This means he can synchro summon a level 7 monster now!"

"Nuh-huh!" Luna disagreed.

"Yeah-huh! He's got a level 3, a level 2 and another level 2. If you add them up, you get seven, which brings out a level 7 synchro monster!"

"True, except that in order to synchro summon, I can only use one tuner." Yusei explained.

"Oh?"

"Junk Synchron and Nitro Synchron are tuner monsters, so he can't use both of them." Luna added.

"Watch and learn. I tune Junk Synchron with my Speed Warrior in order to bring out Junk Warrior!" Junk Synchron pulled its ripcord and turned into 3 stars, which then turned into rings of light and surrounded Speed Warrior. And then, after a flash of light, the purple armored warrior with his oversized fist appeared. (ATK: 2300 DEF: 1300 LV: 5)

"Whoa man! That's pretty cool!" Leo admitted.

"And next, I tune my Nitro Synchron with my Junk Warrior." The nitrogen tank turned into two stars and then rings. Junk Warrior took flight and passed through them. He was then replaced by 5 stars that created a beam of light. "Now I'm going to rev it up with one of my favorites. Nitro Warrior!" The light died down and revealed the green warrior with horns and rocket booster. (ATK: 2800 DEF: 1800 LV: 7)

Leo grinned. "You said one of your favorites! Does that mean you remember who you are? Did it work? I knew it, I knew it! I was..."

"Hey Leo!" Yusei interrupted him. "Get ready, cuz my Nitro Warrior's demagnetizing your Magnen!" The green warrior charged forward and delivered a powerful punch that destroyed one of the blue robots.

"The crowd isn't liking this." Leo commented as his life points went down.

Leo: 4000-2000

"Well then the crowd definitely won't like Nitro's special ability. See, when it destroys a monster in battle, it can switch one of your monsters in defense mode to attack mode, and then it can battle against that monster. So I'm switching your Celfon back to attack mode." Nitro Warrior swung his right arm, sending an arc of wind that made Celfon spin around before it was forced into its robot form.

"No way!" Leo said in disbelief.

"Sorry, but yes way. Nitro Warrior, attack Celfon with Dynamite Crunch!" And with green energy that expanded his regular arms and took the form of bigger arms, Nitro Warrior delivered a devastating double-smash that obliterated the yellow robot.

Leo: 2000-0000

Luna noticed that Leo tried to hold back his tears. He was obviously not happy with his loss. She approached him. "Leo, don't cry when you lose."

"I'm not crying!" He denied, even though he wiped his eyes with one arm.

"Yeah, don't be upset." Yusei said as he walked over to him. "Dueling with you helped me remember who I truly am. So thanks. Thanks for helping me get my memory back."

"Oh?" Leo started to feel a little better.

"Now how about I give you a couple of pointers to say thank you for helping me out, Leo? See, you're a really good duelist, but by spending all your time and energy getting your monsters where you wanted them to be, you didn't leave room to anticipate any counter attacks. Your Morphtronic monsters can adapt. Now you just need to learn how to do the same. Jack Atlas certainly can."

Leo lowered his head a bit. Luna decided to comfort him and placed a hand on his shoulder. "I thought you did really good, Leo."

"So, um..." Leo wiped his eyes one more time before looking up. "Are you gonna tell us who you are?"

"Not sure that's a good idea." Yusei replied and started to walk away.

"Oh, come one! Pleeeaaasse?" Leo pleaded.

Yusei turned around and pointed to his mark. "You see this marker? Trust me, the less you know about me, the safer you'll be."

"Okay, but if I don't know who you are, then how can I be your friend?"

"I think that's kind of the point, Leo." Luna stated. "He's saying he can't be our friend."

"Yes he can!" Leo persisted.

"At least crash with us for the night, Mister. It's getting late."

Leo liked the idea. "Ah! That'll be awesome! And then maybe in the morning you can tell us who you are!"

"Leo!" Luna scolded.

"What?"

Later that night

"(Yawn)" Trudge yawned as he was still waiting for Yusei. And he was starting to get impatient. 'Just come out already, Yusei!'

Meanwhile, Leo and Luna were sleeping peacefully in their beds.

As for Yusei, he was sitting in the living room and tinkering with something. Eventually, he managed to make two duel disks, supposedly made for the twins. Both of them were white, with one of them having some blue parts, while the other one had pink parts. Right after that, he took his duel runner and entered the elevator. 'I hate to duel and dash, you two. But it's for your own good. If I stick around here, you'll only get in trouble.'

Eventually, the elevator brought to him to the bottom floor. And after making sure the coast was clear, Yusei started his duel runner and took off. He was riding for a while before a certain Sector Security duel runner swerved in front of him. And the one driving it... was Trudge.

"I was starting to think you didn't like me!" He commented as Yusei was forced to brake hard. "I'm here to take you in, Yusei."

While this happened, someone was watching behind a nearby wall. It was Blister. "Man, that guy never gives up." He muttered.

"So, you're gonna come quietly?" Trudge asked. The kind of response her received was Yusei angling his duel runner away, ready to race off. "That's what I was hoping, you-What the...?" Suddenly, a pair of light shone on them. They belonged to a limousine, which stood right in front of them, cutting off the street. A door on the side opened, allowing a short man to step out. He slammed it shut behind him to reveal the Sector Security logo on it.

"And the plot thickens." Blister commented.

"Officer Trudge, aren't you supposed to be guarding the candles- and -calendars kiosk at the other-rim mall?"

"I didn't get your name, short stack." Trudge spat.

"Special Deputy Lazar. I work for the Director General." Lazar introduced himself as he revealed his ID card. "And I outrank you. Sorry." He said before laughing.

"How come I've never heard of you?!" The officer exclaimed.

"I'm on official business, Officer Trudge. I would advise you to leave the area immediately."

"This punk's a menace! He stole that runner from the Impound Center!"

"Officer." Lazar said coldly. "There's very little room in this city for street-beat cops who don't know their place or when to shut their mouths." That caused Trudge to growl.

"So what official business are you on?" Yusei asked.

"Delivery." Lazar approached him and pulled out an envelope. "For Mr. Yusei Fudo."

When Yusei took it, he gasped in shock when he saw a photograph attached to it. It showed Rally, Blitz, Nervin and Tank.

"We'd like for you to participate in the Fortune Cup." Lazar explained further. "If you refuse, the four people you see in that photograph will pay the penalty for the rogue actions you took in obtaining that runner. Have a good evening." With that, he went back into the limousine and took off.

Yusei crumpled the envelope in his hand, glaring after Lazar.

Meanwhile, somewhere else

There was a bed inside a dark room, with one window on a nearby wall showing the lights from the city buildings. The person occupying that bed was an unconscious Cody Cooper.

And someone was watching over him. Someone with a feminine figure.

And that's that. Other than me adding Yusei's Scrap-Iron Scarecrow in that duel, it was pretty much the same as in the anime. The reason I made that addition was because of what I find odd in that episode. Since Speed Warrior's power boost only lasts for one turn, it's really strange that Leo didn't attack him with Morphtronic Datatron since it has more attack points. I mean, as far as I could tell, there was nothing in play that could have prevented Leo from attacking at all.

Anyway, I hope you guys enjoyed the chapter. And now it's for me to move on with GX. Until next time.
