*This story is inspired by one of my favorite YouTube videos (Title: I Was About To Give Mouth-to-Mouth To My Childhood Friend, And She Asked Me To Marry Her), I know the guy doesn't sound much like Sasuke, but he's the only person I could think of when I decided to write this story. And I'd like to apologize in advance if my complete ignorance of Japanese culture offends anyone, but I'm going off of what I looked up on the internet…
Part 1 – School Day
"Sasuke," a voice called in the distance, "Sasuke! Come on, we're going to miss the chicken!"
Down the road was a very cute six-year-old Japanese girl with bubblegum pink hair, and Emerald Green eyes.
Sasuke knew her well as he jogged up to her, but was blindsided by a snowball from his right.
He looked off to the right to see his best friend, one of the few blue-eyed blonde boys in his village, and a complete moron.
"I'll get you for that, Naruto," Sasuke said as he scooped up a handful of snow, and lobbed it as hard as he could toward his friend who ducked underneath the shot.
Naruto grabbed another snowball, but before he could throw it, he was hit in the side of the head with another snowball.
Sasuke looked over to the side to see the girl giggling, "Nice one, Sakura," Sasuke said as he jogged over to her.
"I couldn't have done it if you hadn't distracted him," Sakura said.
"You're gonna get it now," Naruto said as he stood up, and hurled two snowballs at the two of them, which missed them completely.
Sasuke reeled back with the snowball he had in his hand, and nailed Naruto square on the forehead, "Gotcha," he exclaimed before he turned toward Sakura, "Run!"
"Ok, but if he catches you, you have to wake up," Sakura said as she ran ahead of him.
"What," Sasuke asked.
"If he catches you, you have to…" Sakura began before Sasuke suddenly felt someone shake him awake.
"Wake up," a seventeen-year-old Sasuke heard as his mother Mikoto shook him awake.
"Good morning, mom," Sasuke said as he rubbed his eye.
"Come on, get up, or you're going to be late for school," Mikoto said.
"Yes, mom," Sasuke said as he stood up.
Sasuke's sleeping outfit for the winter consisted of a pair of sweatpants, and a simple athletic tee shirt.
With an average high of 54 degrees in Osaka, Sasuke knew he had to stay warm.
His high school uniform was a bit more refined: black slacks and a white button-up shirt.
Christmas day in Japan, regardless, he had to get to school, although he wasn't looking forward to it, especially in the weather he was seeing outside.
Snow was coming down, but it wasn't blowing by the window.
"Morning, little bro," Itachi said as he walked up to Sasuke.
"Itachi," Sasuke said as he walked down the stairs of their house behind him.
"You doing alright today," Itachi asked, "Seem a bit down."
"I'm fine," Sasuke said, "Nice dream I wish wasn't anything but a dream."
"Thinking about a girl," Itachi asked as he looked over his shoulder at Sasuke.
"Maybe," Sasuke said as he walked into the dining room with his brother to see his father sitting there waiting for them.
"Good morning," Fugaku said as he looked up from his morning tea to see his sons walk in.
"Father," Sasuke said as he sat next to his father at the table.
"You seem pretty tired," Fugaku said as he looked over at Sasuke, "You ok?"
"Yea," Sasuke said, "Just can't wait until tomorrow."
"Because then you can sleep in," Fugaku asked.
"Yep," Sasuke said.
"And I hope you enjoy that sleep," Mikoto said as she walked in carrying their breakfast.
It was the traditional meal she always made for Christmas, grilled tuna with Miso soup, steamed rice that had a single line of Rayu sauce over the top, and a side of Natto and Nori.
The family closed their hands together, "Itadakimasu," they said before they started eating.
"Think anyone in your class could match what your mother can do," Fugaku asked as he looked over at Sasuke.
Sasuke got a small chuckle out of that one, "Only person I think could do better would be grandma."
"Is that a compliment or an insult," Mikoto asked.
"Mom," Sasuke said in the typical exaggerated-embarrassed voice you'd expect from a teenager.
"Relax," Itachi said as he jabbed Sasuke in the forehead, "You know she didn't mean it."
"Indeed," Sasuke said as he started eating.
After eating, Mikoto followed Sasuke and Itachi outside to wish them goodbye as they grabbed their coats and went off to their last day of school until the New Year.
"So you going to tell me about your dream," Itachi asked as she slung his pack over his shoulder.
"It was nothing, really," Sasuke said.
"Come on, you can tell me," Itachi said.
"That makes me want to trust you even less," Sasuke said.
"What would make you trust me with it," Itachi asked.
Sasuke pulled out a pen, and handed it to Itachi, "Write the words 'kick me' on your forehead, and leave it on until the end of the day," he said.
"You serious," Itachi asked.
"Either that or wait until school is finished," Sasuke said as he put away his pen.
"I'm nothing if not patient," Itachi said.
"Thanks," Sasuke said as he and Itachi proceeded to school.
When they arrived, the one sight that Sasuke didn't want to see was waiting for them…
It was the school's resident gyaru, Karin Tōjō (the last name of her Japanese voice actor), and one of the many women at the school that were his resident fangirls.
"Oh Sasuke," Karin said as she saw him entering the school grounds.
"Karin," Sasuke said as he walked up to her.
"So, do you anything for me for…" Karin began before Sasuke walked by her.
"Nope," he said as he continued toward his class.
"Sorry, Karin," Itachi said as he proceeded to his class.
Sasuke's classroom was on the third floor, and thankfully for him, Karin was in a different homeroom.
"Sup Sasuke," one of his classmates, Suigetsu Hōzuki said as he held up his hand for Sasuke to high-five.
"Suigetsu," Sasuke said as he dropped his pack next to his desk, and took his seat.
"You encounter Karin," Jūgo asked as he sat on his desk, his feet on the seat.
"You have to ask," Sasuke asked.
"Not really," Jūgo said, "But I like to hear it from you."
"My friend," Sasuke said as he sat back, "Don't you ever get tired of hearing things from me?"
"About you, yes," Jūgo said, "About her, no."
"If you can get her off my back, you'd be my hero," Sasuke said.
Jūgo chuckled right before their teacher came in, "Jūgo, sit in your chair please," she said as she walked over to the board, "Hope you all had a nice Christmas Eve. Right now though, before our Winter Break, we need to get back to reality. You still have things to learn, and I still have things to teach you."
Halfway through school, Sasuke finally had some semblance of a smile on his face because he was heading to his favorite class, cooking.
As he walked in though, that semblance of a smile disappeared when he saw that Karin was in the class waiting for him.
"Sasuke, what a surprise," Karin said.
"Karin, what are you doing here," Sasuke asked as he walked over to his usual station, placed his bag down, and rolled up his sleeves.
"My class representative called in sick," Karin said as Sasuke put on his apron, and tied it in the back, "She spoke to the principal who gave us the freedom to choose whichever club we wanted to attend today."
"And you naturally had to choose mine," Sasuke asked as he saw Jūgo entering the classroom.
"Naturally," Karin said, "You know I wouldn't be able to resist your cooking."
"None of us can," Jūgo said, "Maybe you should try cooking. I'm sure you wouldn't mind Sasuke telling you how great your cooking is."
"Don't encourage her," Sasuke said as the teacher entered the room.
"Good morning class," he said as he walked up to his desk, "I know you're all excited to get ready for your break, so in that spirit, I decided to make today a Christmas-themed class. Hopefully, with the lessons earlier today, you should be able to pass today's assignment."
"What do you think today will be like," Jūgo asked.
"For those of you wondering what today will be," the teacher said, Jūgo completely unaware if it was a reference to him or not, "I've decided to prepare a menu," he pulled out a series of papers, and walked over to one of the cooking stations, "Station A, will be in charge of the main dish," he walked over to the station across from them, "Station B, will be in charge of side dishes," he walked over to the station across from Sasuke's, "Station C, will be in charge of the stew," he then walked over to Sasuke, and handed him a paper, "Station D, will be in charge of the dessert. You have until almost the end of the hour to finish the dish listed on your menu. When you're finished, bring a small piece up to the front to be graded, and I will give you a final grade at the end of the hour. For those of you who are in here because of my collogue's absence, choose a group, and make sure you follow your team leader's example."
"Team leader," Karin asked.
"We need to select a team leader for each of our assignments," Jūgo said, "Whenever we do a meat dish, I'm the head chef so to speak. If we do a stew-based dish we select Suigetsu. But since this is a dessert," he pointed at Sasuke, "Your boyfriend here is hour head baker."
"So then," Karin said as she scooted closer to Sasuke, "It seems you need an assistant."
"Indeed," Sasuke said as he took half a step to his right, "The assignment is for the obvious."
"A Christmas cake," Jūgo asked.
"Yep," Sasuke said, "It doesn't say what we can or can't do, so…" he looked up at his team, "I say we do a loaf, slice it like bread, and build off of the slices."
"Not a bad idea," Suigetsu said.
"Indeed," Sasuke said, "Suigetsu, you and I will be in charge of the sponge," he then turned to Jugo, "Jūgo, take Karin, and prepare the accompaniments."
"Accompaniments," Karin asked.
"The garnishes and the buttercream," Sasuke said, "Go grab three sticks of butter, a bar of shortening, buttermilk, sour cream, powdered sugar, salt, some vanilla extract, and a package of strawberries."
"Yes, sir," Jugo said before he gave Karin a slight tap on the shoulder, "Come on babe, let's grab the chef's things."
"And me, chef," Suigetsu asked.
"Grab two sticks of butter, baking powder, cake flour, regular flour, sugar, eggs, and whole milk," Sasuke said.
"And you," Suigetsu asked.
"I'll get the hardware," Sasuke said as he walked over to the supply closet.
After everyone had gotten back to the station, you could see that the other teams had started work on their dishes, and as Sasuke plugged in the mixer, Jūgo raised the question, "So where do we begin, chef?"
"Chop one of those sticks of butter in two," Sasuke said as he attached the paddle to the mixer, and then the bowl, "I want to make sure we don't use too much. Once that's done, cut it into slices, but do not cut it any further."
"You got it," Jūgo said as he picked up one of the cleavers he liked to use to cut meat, and went to cut the butter before Sasuke took it from his hand when he swung it downwards.
"Nope," Sasuke said as he put the cleaver into its spot, "Overkill," he then handed him a santoku knife, "Light touch please, we're not making a meat dish."
"Yes, chef," Jūgo said as he began slicing the butter.
"Karin," Sasuke said as he handed her a strainer, and a rubber mat, "I need you to sift the powdered sugar, three cups."
"Measure out three cups, and sift them," Karin said, "I can do that, "But what's up with the rubber matt?"
"One it makes it easier to transfer," Sasuke said, "Also it keeps the counter from getting dirty."
"Ok," Karin said as she began measuring.
"Jūgo, when you're done, measure out two tablespoons of sour cream," Sasuke said as he began cracking the eggs for the cake, "Then get three ounces of shortening, and place that next to the butter."
"How will I know what three ounces are," Jūgo asked.
"Check the pack," Sasuke said.
As Jūgo picked up the pack all that came out of his mouth was "Oh, never mind."
I'm not going to bore you with all the technicalities of cake baking, so I'll just say after baking the cake and making the buttercream, which they divided in two, they added the strawberries to one half, slicked the cake into individual slices, they made one cake for the teacher which was two slices of cake with the strawberry buttercream in the middle, and the regular buttercream on the outside with a few sliced strawberries on the top.
For themselves, they made a six-sided star that Karin made a heart out of strawberries in the center.
"Subtle, Karin," Sasuke said, "Very subtle."
"Thanks," Karin said.
Group A had made a surprisingly good batch of fried chicken, while Group B made an acceptable thing of potato salad, and Group C tried their best (although somewhat unsuccessfully) to make a bowl of miso soup.
Then came Sasuke's group, when the teacher took a piece off the side with his fork, and ate it, you could see the smile on his face come back from the disappointing miso soup, "Mr. Uchiha, once again, fantastic job on the dessert," he said, "I'll give you an A, it'd be an S, but right now it's missing a small something that I can't put my finger on."
"Thank you, sir," Sasuke said.
What do you think…
