Chapter 19

Meanwhile…

"Seems rather odd to be doing this, you sure about it Mom?"

Suiryu and Yuuji were asked by their mother to investigate a place within the divine realm. However, it was rather odd considering it was just a random request, as well… she asked this early this morning.

"I assure you it is important, this maybe a path were the dragons of the heavenly realm are using to get to earth. I cannot go or they will think I am on to them. However, if you two happen to stumble upon such a thing…" she said offhandedly.

So, they agreed to scope out the heavenly realm. The place reminded Yuuji from when he was in his baby dragon phase, a lush open field with plenty of trees and plants. Suiryu peered about and sneered. "This seems a little too cheery of a place to out an escape route don't you think? A dragon here would stick out like a sore thumb."

Yuuji paused and nodded. However he was focused to ensure he was seeing everything properly. The energy here was stable and no influx or abnormalities. They examined the land for hours, yet found no traces or hints of an escape route. "Huh, this feels off…" Yuuji muttered.

"You found something?" Suiryu asked.

"This whole thing!" he protested. "I mean, I know how important it is for mom to cover her bases and ensure that no one is sneaking into the earthly realm, but…" he had a strange feeling something else was going on.

"You think this is a distraction?" Suiryu asked bluntly.

"Yes," Yuuji whispered. "I think mom is distracting us,"

This struck Suiryu oddly. In fact, he appeared rather disturbed by Yuuji's words. "Do you even hear yourself right now!?" he demanded. "You… are doubting… MOM!"

"I am not doubting mom, I just know when she has people in various places it is for a reason. I mean, why haven't we killed Kenjaku yet?! Mom said to wait, what exactly are we waiting for?!" he demanded.

It took Suiryu by surprise. "Let's go pick up the girls then,"

For safety, Yuuji and Suiryu were permitted to bring their wives and kids that were not in school as they searched the lands. They were in the company of Kitsune who was more than happy to host them.

When they returned, Kitsune paused. "Young master, Suiryu, any luck?" she asked.

They shook their heads no. "I don't detect any sort of flux, not to mention with you living here, you would notice it right away, wouldn't you?" Suiryu asked of her.

She nodded in agreement, and still, found it odd. "I don't understand this task either, but the great lady insisted that there was something going on here." Kitsune explained.

Yuuji was about to speak, when suddenly, Suiryu felt odd… his heart… hurt.

"Suiryu?!" Nobara asked in a panic tone.

"Something… is wrong back home… something… something has happened…" he said, he turned to Yuuji who appeared just as startled. "Nobara…"

"Go" she insisted. "We're in good company here."

Without hesitation, Yuuji and Suiryu rushed back to the earthly realm. They went into down town Tokyo where there was a massive brawl breaking out! Sorcerers, dragon slayers, curses were all about.

"What the hell, are they doing to do a Shibuya incident here?!" Yuuji protested.

"Easy fix for the most part…"

Suiryu surged. He unleashed a current of power, that repelled the curses, it made the sorcerers run, but the dragon slayers, began to take aim for them. "Ready?"

Yuuji cracked his knuckles in anticipation. Yet, as the dragon slayers began to approach in droves, they suddenly stopped. There was a moment of confusion among them until… they retreated?

"Huh? What a let down…" Suiryu muttered.

"ITADORI!"

Yuuji froze, Suiryu too. "That's… Junpei?" he whispered.

They didn't hesitate.

The two of them rushed to where they heard Junpei, yet, by the time they arrived. Both froze at the sight.

On the ground was Yua, coughing up blood. Junpei had his hand morphed and became a suction cup over her face, one of his torso mouths was now biting into Yua's arm.

"Junpei…" Suiryu whispered.

"It's Yua… it's bad… really bad… I can't do any more than this!" he wept. "She's been poisoned!"
