So it turns out I do have one more chapter before I need to finish Rescue of the Mizzerans! In imagining them getting ready, having breakfast, I realized I had enough for an enitire chapter in intself, just like when listening to the DVD comentary of the first season of The Simpsons Matt Groning I think decided there had to be a dialogue sequence where Homer and Bart make their plant lioncloths in The Call of the Simpsons
After having the doctor's appointment booked, Joe took his bedclothes out of the dryer, went back upstairs, made his bed and finally drifted off into an uneasy sleep...
He had also 'called in sick' to the W.V.B.A. So they wouldn't be expecting him at work, as the alarm clock sounded off and Joe groggily reached over and turned it off, he sat up, smacked his mouth and slowly and gracefully stretched as he yawned.
As he got out of bed while rubbing his forehead, he tried to think once again that this appointment was like pulling off a band-aid. He got dressed and went to wake up Dana.
He saw the Mutant Doberman, quietly snoozing on the sofa, her chin resting on her folded hands like how many an ordinary dog sleeps.
Joe took a deep breath, cleared his throat, and then gently shook Dana's shoulder to wake her.
"Dana..." He said quietly "...I booked a doctor's appointment on First Earth, hopefully they might have something for your...Malady...It's in the afternoon so she should start getting ready."
Of course this meant they should get a decent breakfast for the busy day ahead! Joe of course went to the kitchenette and got the coffee started, while that was going Joe got out a large skillet, Dana put her clothes back on as Joe got out four eggs and the packet of Canadian bacon (A gift from Bear Hugger) Dana got herself a glass of water to drink and sat down at the table to drink it.
"How are you feeling?" Joe asked quietly as he began cooking "You look a bit...How you say...Haggard."
"Oh," Dana sighed "I'm OK, I just had...Nightmares is all..."
"What were the nightmares about?" Joe asked fearing he already knew what the answer would be.
"About my time in the lab..." Dana said as she was now bound to obey Joe, she was now compelled to tell the truth.
Dana told him the memory of being paraded out with some of her sisters to potential clients, and described the fat computer developer from Seattle who she particurally disliked, as Joe listened to this horror story, he had to fight the urge to not scramble the eggs he was frying alongside the Canadian bacon. His heart was pounding in his chest, he was getting flashbacks to times when he punched in the face some Lothario who he had caught leering at his little sister Jeanette and was about to make his move on her...It was absolutely sickening what he was hearing...And this happened when she was twelve years old?! Presuming the Mutant Girls aged similarly to humans...No wonder Dana had such messed up ideas about love!
As they sat and ate breakfast, both of them had two fried eggs and two pieces of bacon (Joe would have really liked some toast, but the toaster wasn't good at fitting sliced baguettes and he absolutely HATED American sliced bread! He didn't yet have a toaster oven) He felt more and more sympathy for Dana and was feeling less anger about her deception, he was felt the more he heard the more he understood why she did what she did, but still it couldn't stay this way, he had to do everything he could to cure her of this personality change to a meek submissive sex slave!
At around Noon they left for New York City's Portal to First Earth.
So yeah, felt the morning before deserved it's own chapter so now REALLY not gonna update until I finish Rescue of the Mizzerans
