"He orders us around all the time... my arms are so sore."

"Takashi, you shouldn't complain about what Naruto asks you to do, he's working even harder than you are."

"Of course you take his side... anyone but me." Takashi muttered when the girl he loved took the side of the guy they barely knew at all over him. He was still willing to follow Naruto's orders, but Naruto was demanding a lot of physical labor from him. He was digging a hole in the school yard so they could bury all of the bones left over from burning zombie corpses. Now that he wanted to complain to his crush about Naruto, she was taking Naruto's side instead.

All he wanted to do was bitch and moan a little to let off some steam, and she wasn't having any of it.

"The Captain gives us all tasks that were are suited for." Kohta, who spent all day on the roof looking across the city through a scope, sided with Rei. Naruto had left to go track down one of their family members who had their scent picked up. "... Without him or his Vice-Captain Kurama-"

"It's a damn trained fox, it isn't some Vice-Captain. Are you stupid?" Saya snapped at Kohta.

He smiled at her pleasantly.

"It's a very well trained fox though, and even dogs are given police status when they are part of the K9 unit... Naruto gives Kurama orders, and Naruto is the Captain... so doesn't that make Kurama his Vice-Captain?" Kohta shrank back from her insults and anger, but still defended his position.

There was a moment of silence.

It was starting to get dark, and Naruto hadn't come back yet. The silence was strong at the moment now that everyone had finished their daily tasks. The fact was that they had no method to contact Naruto without the fox Kurama with them. He had left with only his fox, on foot, in order to track down the family of a survivor. He hadn't stated who was related to the survivor, just that his fox had tracked down somebody related to them.

2 groups.

Naruto left, and it seemed that the 3 groups turned into 2 groups. There was an overwhelming amount of support with Shido, the students seemed to gravitate towards him. Even now they were talking with each other.

"If I wanted to, I could kick his ass!"

"Of course, of course... but fighting Naruto isn't the right choice. Still, maybe we can hold a democratic vote to see what we do from now." Shido was talking with the students who had gathered around him.

Rei smirked after glaring.

"A democratic vote... Naruto has made it clear this isn't a democracy, he's a dictator. He's a real man, unlike you Shido. He gets stuff done... of course, I really would love to see you propose a vote to him." Rei stood up and walked right up to Shido.

"That is sensei-"

"We aren't students anymore, school is over now, and I've never considered you worthy calling sensei. Go ahead, Naruto's made his opinion on YOU very clear. He doesn't trust you... go ahead, challenge a real man's leadership and see what happens... I'm begging all of you." Rei challenged everyone in Shido's growing group of students. "Naruto can see right through you scum... and I will never follow you while he is around." Rei turned and walked away with that.

Her words pissed off and frightened everyone who was part of Shido's group.

Rei sat back down next to Takashi.

"... You barely know Naruto, why do you hold such a high opinion of him?" Takashi whispered to Rei.

"Because, he doesn't trust Shido, that makes him a good judge of character. Look, he rescues that girl and her father. He is protecting all of us, and working harder than we are. He isn't being passive and going with the flow, he is taking charge." Rei didn't know Naruto for longer than 3 days, but she could see those traits on obvious display. She glared at Takashi when she mentioned Naruto not trusting Shido, as if the boy in question should hate Shido as well.

"He has you doing easy work." Takashi whispered.

She didn't hear it.

Rei had been tasked with going through the dorm rooms with Saeko, and the two of them were checking for zombies and gathering all of the sheets, blankets, and clothes from the dorm rooms. They were also bringing beds out of the dorms, and into the gymnasium so that everyone could sleep in the same room. Naruto had tasked Shido and his group with cleaning all the blood and filth from the hallways of the school, and when they weren't doing that they were suppose to be digging a trench around the main school building.

Which they weren't really doing.

"Hey kids, good work today." Maresato spoke as he approached them. "I'm going around collecting dirty clothes, if you have any I would be happy to take them." Maresato had been assigned to do laundry while Naruto was gone, and to do the cooking. He wasn't a physically fit man, and he needed to keep an eye on his daughter.

"We aren't kids." Takashi just wasn't in a good mood.

Honestly... as stressfull as the zombies were, and as much a it sucked... a part of him had actually enjoyed the freedom to do whatever he wanted. It was brief, but he had actually kind of been looking forward to being able to smash stuff and take what he wanted. Now he was just doing what he had been before, following rules and obeying orders.

"You see, that is your problem Takashi, you're immature. You complain about having to work hard, and having to listen." Rei stood up and stormed off.

-Later-

"Stupid Takashi."

Why couldn't Takashi get her point, when she made it so clear. She didn't know where his bad mood was really coming from. They were safe, and Naruto was looking for their families for them. They didn't need to worry right away. He also didn't trust the snake that was Shido, and made it clear he was keeping a close watch on the man. She had tried to hint to Takashi countless times that she hated Shido for good reasons, but Takashi just didn't understand her hints.

He was always gloomy before the zombies showed up, and now he was even gloomier than befoere.

'I dated Hisashi because you were a selfish brat... and now that I thought you were finally growing up, you start complaining like that.' Rei couldn't stand it. Takashi had abandoned her when she was held back in school. She thought they could get back together, that Takashi had been forced to mature by the events they suffered through.

Now they had a prime example.

All Takashi had to do was take after Naruto and be a man, but instead he was still acting like a kid.

"Komuro isn't the only one acting stupid..."

"Busujima." Rei noted that she had wandered to where Saeko was still working. The woman was gathering up all the water in buckets that she could. "Did you call me stupid?" Rei asked, and she stood up.

"No, but everyone is acting a little stupid right now. Times are tense right now. So, did you and Komuro have an argument?" Saeko didn't know what was going on. She tried to keep herself as busy as possible.

"No, Takashi is just being dumb. He's complaining nonstop about how hard Naruto is working him. He's acting like... he's just acting selfish." Rei didn't understand what was going through his head, and he didn't try and properly explain it either. She looked at Saeko with a glare for a moment when she giggled.

"I think I get what is going on."

"Oh, and what is that?" Rei didn't get it.

"I think Takashi assumes you're going to leave him behind for Naruto-"

"If he keeps acting selfish then nobody can blame me. When Shido forced me to get held back in school, he abandoned me. When he was acting selfish and like a bad boyfriend, I left him for Hisashi. Hisashi was always mature... he saved me, and Takashi just killed him..." Rei had tears of anger, sadness, and confusion in her eyes that she didn't bother wiping away.

"Ah."

"Don't just ah me. I'll told Takashi he was selfish before. I've told him he needed to grow up before. He isn't even thankful that Naruto is doing so much for us, total strangers. How am I suppose to respect Takashi when he's acting like this... I might be better off just going for Naruto." Rei didn't even have strong romantic feelings for Naruto, but when compared to the other men she was surrounded by, he was the clear best option for her. She looked at Saeko, who didn't have a really strong reaction to her words.

She was smiling though.

"I think you love Takashi very much, but what you love more than Takashi... is what you believed Takashi could be. Still, do what you wish, I won't stop you." Saeko wasn't going to provide her any help, but she wouldn't stop her either. Naruto was currently away from the school tracking down somebody's family. 'Still... it's hard not to develop some feelings when there is only one man in a group who is actually acting like a man.' Saeko wasn't going to get angry at Rei either.

Women wanted the best man around.

Takashi was immature, Kohta was short and fat, Shido was a slimeball, and the men who followed Shido were creeps. Naruto was tall, a tad goofy but mature, athletic, and he took command of any situation he was in. He had charisma that made you want to follow him, and had shown himself to be a very capable man several times now.

"You know what, I'm going to try and get with Naruto. If Takashi can't man up, then I'm not going to be with him." Rei had made her decision.

'Good luck with that... still, it might be a good idea for me to talk to Komuro. It seems he and Rei have complicated feelings for each other.' Saeko sighed. She wasn't really worried that Rei could make any progress with Naruto, but she had already decided she wanted to go for the blond man. It wouldn't do for her goal, to have Rei also going for the same man.

She wanted Rei and Takashi to smooth things over.

Less competition for her.
