Kitsuna joined a small group just outside the hotel. Yachi, Hinata, Kageyama, and Yamaguchi, along with the boisterous second year boys. She slid on the gloves once she was out in the cold, noting that they were just a little bit too big on her hands. They were soft, though, and warm. Made texting harder as well, so she had Hinata handle communicating with Kenma until they met up. They met near a shopping district, and split off in twos or threes for their desired destinations. Kitsuna was joined by Yamaguchi and Kenma, heading first to a store that was a little off the regular path.
"Why was Shoyo texting all of a sudden instead of you?," Kenma pointed out a detail she had hoped he would let slide.
"Ah. It's hard to text with gloves on," Kitsuna answered a little too nervously. Yamaguchi caught that, and some other details that he was curious about.
"I thought you didn't have any, or like wearing them. You've been humming to yourself off and on, too. Something happen?," he asked innocently enough, throwing out some things she really wanted to go unnoticed.
"I'm sure I don't know what you mean," she smiled at the two of them as they looked through the shelves at various game cases. Kenma saw through it immediately and felt like pushing it harder after that.
"We saw part of your match today," he started in and she knew she was done for. "You were tense, but eased up part way through. Along with that one guy, number two? Spaced out pretty hard in the hallway too, but now you seem..not really normal but less worried."
"Yeah, it'd be great if you saved those observation skills for games and games only," Kitsuna grumbled. Yamaguchi recalled something from earlier and his face went red, catching onto Kenma's meaning.
"That's right. In the stands you were acting weird too-"
Kitsuna jabbed his ribs with the side of her hand, but too late. Kenma laughed a little, then reached up toward the prize he and Kitsuna were after. It was a little too high up on a shelf, so he had trouble getting it. Kitsuna picked up the two copies there, and handed him one. They paid at the register and left, wandering with Yamaguchi until the others were done. They stopped at a little food stall with outdoor seating and Kenma whipped out his PSP to immediately start the new game. Kitsuna did the same, but wasn't getting far.
"Did something happen, between you two? Wait! I don't mean anything specific by it, just," Yamaguchi let curiosity get the better of him and nearly got another swift and deadly slicing chop. Kitsuna went instead for his food, snatching up a few of his fries.
"Why's everyone so worried about me n' him?," she pouted. Kenma glanced at her game and distracted her with that for a moment while Yamaguchi gathered his thoughts again.
"W-well. You guys seem close, but I don't know any kind of details or anything. And you've been sorta in your own head for a while now or avoiding him more. Like, it just felt kind of awkward for a while," Yamaguchi blurted out all at once. Kitsuna swiped some more fries, then sipped her drink and sighed.
"Stuff got weird, mostly because other people kept askin' me dumb shit or making weird comments. I guess, today was sort of my fault," her cheeks got just a little more rosy with that last part. She watched the people milling about for a minute, then looked at her hands and smiled.
"But, he's still treating me the same as he always does, so it doesn't matter. Sorry for makin' practice and the games a little weird. Oh, and for earlier today," she hinted at the little moment between her and Suga in the stands but didn't outright say it. A little retreat that Kenma noticed but kept quiet about this time.
"Oh, there you guys are!," Yachi came back with the two Karasuno stars in tow. They were arguing about who knows what, until Hinata spotted Kenma and started babbling excitedly at him and the game. Yachi shared some of Kitsuna's snack, and they left when Tanaka and Noya finished up. Kitsuna and Hinata both waved at Kenma, who went in the opposite direction. Then they started back to the hotel.
"Man, it's too damn cold," Kitsuna whined as the wind picked up.
"That's because you don't move enough!," Noya piped up, jumping around with Hinata just in front of them.
"Or because you're just wearin' a jacket," Tanaka added.
"Y-you can borrow, um, my hat or something!," Yachi offered, obviously feeling the cold herself.
"It's fine, it's not a long walk," Kitsuna brushed them all off. She did push Yamaguchi from beside her to just in front, though. He was just a little bit bigger than her, so he made a good windbreaker. That worked for a few minutes, but at the last stretch Kitsuna's mood tanked with her cold and achy joints. Her energy dropped fast, too.
"Hey, quit bouncin' around so much. C'mere," Kitsuna grabbed Noya by the collar and wrapped her arms around his shoulders from behind. She rested her chin in his hair, and smiled to herself as they walked like that.
"Maybe moving around more does help you stay warm," she said to no one in particular. Noya was weirdly stiff, and Tanaka started to tease him and Hinata.
"I guess bein' short has its perks," Tanaka taunted. Yachi was feeling pretty bitter from the chilly wind as well, and was flustered for Noya and the others at Kitsuna's overfamiliarity.
"Somehow I feel a little jealous," Yamaguchi complained quietly. Kitsuna released Noya finally, more annoyed by everyone's reactions than the frosty air.
"What do you have to be jealous of?," Kitsuna asked Yamaguchi quietly, the two lagging somewhat behind the others.
"You weren't supposed to hear that," the freckled boy groaned.
"Hm?," Kitsuna tugged at his sleeve but he wasn't budging. They entered the hotel without him answering, and he slipped away first. Yachi went to the girls' room, and Kitsuna followed the other four while Tanaka and Noya got engrossed in her new game. She joined them in their room, each one trying the same levels in turn to see who could get the quickest time. Daichi finally yelled at them to quiet down, so Kitsuna retreated to the corner of the room with a few of the second years. They went to bed one by one, and Kitsuna promised to head out after she finished the next level.
