Christmas Dreams Ch 7
It had been a busy day for Fran and the girls as they spent the afternoon making her famous Christmas cookies, the cabin smelled absolutely amazing and Penelope loved it, she loved every second of the baking of the cookies. Her morning sickness hadn't been as bad in the afternoon so every chance that Fran got she was giving Penelope some tea to help settle her stomach and to say that Penelope loved Fran for everything that she was doing to help her was an understatement.
Derek had gone outside with the men to watch Jack and Henry play in the snow, being outside in the snow was bringing back so many happy memories for Derek, he could remember sledding with his dad when he was a little boy. Those memories still brought a smile on his face and he just hoped that one day he would have a son and or daughter that he could make those special memories with, now that, that would be a dream come true.
Everybody came inside for dinner, they had worked up and appetite outside playing all afternoon and they were more than ready to enjoy a delicious dinner and then decorate the Christmas tree before turning in for the night. When the boys came inside they saw presents under the tree, they squealed and ran over and started shaking the ones with their names on them, Reid and the others stood smiling and watching as their sons tried to figure out what was in each box.
Penelope had managed to actually eat what she wanted for dinner and with no nausea she was so happy to know that her morning sickness wasn't going to affect her tonight, she sat there thinking, "when i get home I need to get something for this nausea, yep, that I do".
Derek laughed as he put one of the final bulbs on the tree, he then stood back and said, "perfect", he walked over to Penelope and wrapped his arm around her waist and said, "don't you think so sweetness?", she looked at the tree and said, "it's perfect handsome, this is the most beautiful tree that I can ever remember seeing", Derek pulled her into a hug and said, "I'm so glad that you came with us this year baby girl, you are making this the best Christmas for me".
She smiled and said, "as you are for me my love, as you are for me" as their attention then turned back to the Christmas tree as the last of the ornaments were finally put on, Fran then stepped back and said, "alright, 1, 2, 3" and clicked the button causing the tree to light up and allow beautiful light to fill the huge living room.
Everybody gasped at how beautiful it was, the tree was amazing, all of the colors were sparkling so so beautifully, it made the room look even bigger, well if that was even possible that is but as everybody stood looking at the tree they couldn't help but smile. Dave knew that with the regular presents under the tree tonight, that meant that after the boys went to bed they could bring out the Santa gifts and put them around the tree.
Henry and Jack had begged all evening to let them open one of their gifts and they had been told no, over and over, Reid even tried, "look, you get to open your gifts in the morning, not only from us but Santa, surely you can wait till in the morning". The two little boys looked at each other and then at their parents and in unison said, "pleaseeeeeee".
The parents wanted to give in and let the little boys open 1 gift but they knew that they wouldn't stop with one gift, that they would want to open them all so they sucked up all of their strength and still refused the little boys. Penelope plopped down beside Derek on the couch and said, "I can't believe that tomorrow is Christmas this trip is flying by", Derek nodded his head and said, "it is but we still have a lot of time left sweetness, don't worry I still have a few surprises coming your way".
As she sat looking at him she said, "so do I angelfish, so do I" causing them to look at each other and smile
