Ace enters A Charitable Earth to see a large bouquet waiting for her at her desk, "who are those from," Nyssa asks her.
"I don't know," Ace slings her bag off her shoulder, "I just got here."
"Is there a card?"
"Nyssa, is there something you want?"
"It's odd, the Monday after the two of you share a few dances and a picture gets taken of you staring lovingly into each other's eyes there is a large bouquet of flowers waiting for you at your desk.. It is a good thing no one took a picture of your second dance."
"What do you mean?"
"You and Graham were dancing like lovers."
"I felt comfortable in his arms," Ace says with a large smile as she picks up the card and looks at Nyssa.
"Ok, I'm gone, read your love letter."
"We haven't gone on a date," she tells Nyssa, retreating form, then quietly to herself, "yet." Ace looks at the card.
"I had a wonderful time with you Saturday, hope we can have a repeat."
-Graham.
'Is this Graham's way of asking me out?'
Ace gets to work, thoughts wandering over to Graham often, especially when she looks at the flowers, he sent her. Around lunchtime there is a knock on her door frame, she looks at the time and tries to hold back a smile, "come in Graham."
"How did you know it was me?"
"The time, we always have lunch together."
"That we do," they share a smile as Nyssa comes by.
"You texted to swing by Ace's office."
Graham's eyes not leaving Ace's, "your lunch is labeled with your name."
"Thank you Graham."
"No problem," Nyssa grabs her lunch and stands at the door for a second just watching the two of them. "How did you sleep?"
"Good, how about you?"
Graham grabs her hand and as electricity shoots from them both, "good, I first had a visit from Grace, then I dreamed of you."
"What did Grace say," Ace is happy that he admitted that he dreamed of her.
"Basically that she's happy that I am starting to move on."
"You are?"
With his free hand Graham brushes a piece of stray hair, "I am," they continue to gaze into when Ace's stomach brings the need for food to attention.
"I guess I should eat."
"Let's eat then." Graham hands Ace her meal and the two walk over to the couch in Ace's office and sit on it facing each other, "I should tell you I got a visitor last night."
"You did when?"
"Not long after we hung up," Graham tells her in between some bites.
"Who was it?"
"Your brother."
Ace stops mid bite, "my brother, as in Liam McShane?"
"Have any other brother's I haven't heard of."
"Only Liam, that I know of at least," Ace sighs not knowing what sort of things her mother probably got up to before she was born.
"Thinking about your mum?"
"I am, I am just wondering if Liam and I have more siblings out there."
"Have you ever done one of those ancestry tests?"
"No."
"Have you been thinking about it?"
"No, I don't often think about other siblings, even with the relationship with my mum she did have me listed as missing and not a run away."
"I guess there's that, I just wanted to tell you that Liam came by."
"What did the two of you talk about?" For the first time since meeting Graham doesn't meet Ace's eyes. "Graham," Ace uses her free hand to bring Graham's eyes to hers by lifting his chin up.
Nyssa enters the room, thinking Graham would be gone by now, "hey Ace," she watches as the two jump apart, "oh sorry."
"It's ok, I probably should get going." Graham picks up his and Ace's trash, "I'll talk to you later Ace."
"I'll call you tonight." Ace falls back against the couch and sighs as Graham leaves.
"Were the two of you about to kiss," Nyssa smiles at her.
"No, we weren't, Liam visited him last night and Graham isn't telling me what they talked about."
"Are you really that thick?"
"What do you mean?"
"Ace from the looks of it you are not going to make a move on Graham, and Liam thinks Graham will."
"Why are you guys interfering, if it's meant to happen it will. Graham even wants a repeat of Saturday night, so do I, well an almost exact repeat. This time I just want it to be the two of us."
"With a kiss on the cheek or lips?"
"I would prefer the lips. I am not happy with your wife for spying by the way."
"I know, but you have to admit you liked kissing his cheek."
Ace smiles at the memory, "I did even with slight stubble on his cheek."
"Ace," Nyssa tries to get Ace's attention, who is thinking of when she kissed Graham's cheek, "Ace, Dorothy!"
"Huh what," Ace shakes her head and refocuses on Nyssa, "sorry, I didn't know where I just went."
"Oh I know, Graham is standing in front of you in your memory and you lean up."
"Ok, Nyssa I get it, yes I was thinking of Graham."
"Honest talk right now Ace, I know that the three of us have been teasing you about Graham, but from the looks of it you are falling for the guy, and deeper each second."
"I think I am, he is easy to fall for." They look at the bouquet of daisies, red roses, gardenias, red and yellow tulips.
"Those flowers each have their own meaning, don't they?"
"Most of them mean love or growing love."
"What?" Nyssa is curious as to why her friend knows this. "Ace, that man has fallen for you."
"I."
"Ace, look into your heart and who do you see?"
"I see my family, which is Liam, you and Tegan, and I see Graham sitting next to me laughing."
"I think you have something to admit to yourself and Graham."
"I want to hear what he and my brother talked about first."
"Ace," Nyssa says as she sighs, "the two of you have been doing this dance of will they or won't they for 6 months now. You spend most of your free time together."
"I know that today was the first time since we met he wasn't able to look me in the eyes and I didn't like it."
"He was trying to protect your brother from your wrath."
"Oh, there is still some wrath to be faced, he is my little brother who tried to interfere with my love life."
"Who loves and cares about you. He wants to see you happy. Yes, he shouldn't have gone to Graham's, but he wants to see you happy."
"I understand that, but this is my life not his."
"He knows that, go easy on both. It is commendable that Graham is already trying to become buddies with your brother and your brother, well I already said what I wanted." Nyssa walks out of Ace's office to get back to work.
'I didn't tell Graham I loved the flowers. The moment we talk tonight I will tell him.' Ace gets back to work.
That night as she leans back against the couch she picks up her phone about to hit number 5 in her speed dial thinking she should move him up when her phone goes off. Frightened, she accidentally tosses the phone across the room. Ace jumps up and picks it up in time. "Graham, I'm here."
"You sound out of breath."
"I was just about to call you, when you called."
"Are you ok?"
"I am more than ok, I brought some of my lovely flowers home with me, so I can look at it day and night."
"So you liked them?"
"I more than liked them, thank you. I would love a repeat of Saturday night, everything but the three people who ended up spying, well one of them spied on us."
"What do you mean?"
"Tegan watched us say goodnight."
"Oh.."
"She told the other two what happened, speaking of which?"
"You want to know what Liam and I talked about."
"You know me so well."
"I try my best, and I would like to get to know more."
"And you're changing the subject."
"Only partially, your brother came to talk to me about you and how obvious it is that." Graham lets his voice trail.
"How what is obvious?"
"That we like each other."
"Ooh, that is what Nyssa said." There is a knock on the door. "I need to go Graham, there is someone at the door, we will continue this conversation later."
"Bye Ace."
"Bye Graham," Ace hangs up and opens up the door.
