Hey. Sorry It's been so long. I wrote this so long ago, so it probably isn't good. BTW: Don't own PJO.
Chapter 12: Ares Campers Are Idiots, No Surprise There
Within the week, my siblings and I went back to the camp.
I was invited to the war council as the leader of the Hades Cabin.
They gave me a sheet of paper containing the great prophecy and had me read it out loud. I would have had a problem with it if I hadn't lost my dyslexia when I became a goddess.
A half-blood of the eldest gods,
Shall reach sixteen against all odds.
And see the world in endless sleep,
The hero's soul cursed blade shall reap.
A single choice shall end his days.
Olympus to preserve or raze.
"Raise, that's good, right?" Conner asked.
"Raze. R-A-Z-E." I corrected him. "It means destroy or obliterate. So, no. It's not really that good."
"Oh. Right." He sat back.
Clarisse started arguing with Michael from Apollo's cabin and stormed out.
Chiron showed us an iris message of Typhon. Everyone blamed me for releasing him.
"Okay. Is that all the council is talking about? I have somewhere I need to be." I motioned to the door.
"No. Leave. That's the end of the council." Chiron said.
I turned and left the big house. I went over to where Hestia sat at the hearth.
"Hello Lady Hestia." I greeted.
"Hello Andromeda. How have you been?" Hestia asked.
"I've been okay. I have a question. Why did you bless me?" I turned to her.
"Because you were shunned by the entire camp. Your father doesn't even have a throne on Olympus and still you stand up for your family." She smiled.
"Thank you. What is it your blessing does?" I asked.
"You have the ability to create fire, heal, fire travel, and summon homemade meals." She told me.
I pulled the mist around us to hide me and I willed warmth into my hand. It caught fire. The orange, red, and yellow flame flickered in my hand.
I extinguished it. "Thank you Lady Hestia."
"It's been a while since I've had anyone speak to me." She said wistfully. "They just walk past and don't even bother to say hello."
"I'm sorry. I didn't know." I said.
"You know, I heard you when you first came here. You were the first person to sacrifice anything to me. I get a bit of what is sacrificed because it's in my domain, but no one had directly prayed to me in years." She poked the fire.
I looked down at my feet. "Do you ever wish to be noticed?"
"Sometimes. But I'm happy staying in the background. I stay back and protect Olympus. I'm the Last Olympian on Mount Olympus right now. All the others are fighting Typhon or in their domains." She said.
"Sometimes I wish I could be in the background. It would be easier. But I guess if I was, I wouldn't be able to protect my family as well." I mused.
"Yes. The best way for you to protect your family is to be out front." Hestia said.
"Lady Hestia, is there any chance you could train me to use your blessing?" I asked.
"I've never trained anyone before." She said.
"And I've never had the ability to use fire before." I pointed out.
She smiled. "Very well. I will train you. But first, there is something you need to know before you face Kronos." She waved a hand and a vision appeased in the fire. I looked at it and was sucked into the memory.
It was Luke. When he first met Thalia. It was him giving a weapon to her so they could fight together. The second vision was when Luke first met Hermes.
"Thank you. That helps me understand him." I told her.
The next week flew past. Hestia taught me to control my new abilities.
I visited Aunt Sally and took a walk in Central Park.
I felt Grover's spirit and followed it. He was trapped in a deep sleep.
I manipulated his spirit into waking up. It was something I was working on to counter the effect of Kronos and whatever Titans he had with him.
Grover told me that Morpheus had put him to sleep.
I found a phone and called Katie. She was the only demigod who had a phone that I knew of.
They all met me at the bottom of the Empire State Building.
We found out that Morpheus had put all the mortals in Manhattan to sleep. Hecate and Kronos set up a barrier around it, stopping more mortals from coming on the island.
See the world in endless sleep.
I sent each cabin to the tunnel. The hunters turned up and took the last tunnel. Thalia and Zoë stayed with me.
"Hey Andy. How have you been?" Thalia asked.
"I've been good. I've had a lot going on." I said. My eyes darted between cabins, counting people.
I looked up to see if Thanatos was around. He was up in the sky. He saluted me.
"Dang it. Ares cabin isn't here." I muttered. I turned back to Thalia and Zoë. "I'm sorry. I need to go real quick. I'll be back in a few minutes."
I shrunk into the shadows and appeared back in the camp.
"Clarisse?" I called. I walked to the Ares cabin.
"What do you want punk?" She asked.
"Look. I really need your help. This isn't time for a petty argument. We are in the middle of a war." I reasoned. "Those are your cousins out there. They're our family. And your cabin is the strongest. Without you guys, so many more people will get hurt."
Clarisse thought about it. "Why should we fight with a group of people who took stuff from us?"
"You don't have to. You can fight next to a different cabin. I know you've seen some of these kids grow up from when they were just children." I told her.
"Fine. We'll fight with you. We'll meet up with you at the Empire State Building when we get there." She relented.
"Thank you." I smiled. Then I jumped into the shadows. I appeared back in front of Thalia, Zoë, Bianca, and Nico.
"Okay. The Ares cabin is going to come join us sometime soon. Nico can you go and convince father to come help? The gods need his help and we do too." I asked.
Nico nodded.
"Oh, if you see Demeter, don't mention grain. It will take forever and a miracle to stop her." I told him. He looked at me confused before he melted into the shadows. I smiled. I had been teaching him shadow travel.
"Bianca, can you try to help the Athena cabin with plan 23. They know what that is." I said.
"Got it. Don't die. I'd hate to be one half of a pair of twins." She smirked before running off to the tunnel with the Athena cabin.
My phone rang and I picked it up. "Andy, the Apollo campers need help." The call ended.
I sighed. "Thalia, Zoë, wanna come with?"
"Sure." Thalia answered for them.
"Would you prefer flying or shadow travel?" I asked.
"Shadow travel." Thalia immediately.
I grabbed their hands and we fell through a shadow. We got out right by the bridge with the Apollo campers.
Thalia and Zoë were disoriented from the travelling but I was right on my feet.
I threw myself into the battle and summoned my two blades. I whirled around, slashing through monsters.
Some tried to spear me or cut me but I stopped them and cut them down.
I somehow got back to back with Thalia and Zoë. We protected each other and worked well, as if we had been fighting together for years.
I parried a blade that was aiming for Thalia. A spear was thrown at Zoë and I pulled out my bow and shot it away.
I willed my bow back to my necklace and my swords were out a split second later, catching a poisoned dagger aimed for Zoë.
Soon, the monsters pulled back.
I looked across the bridge to see Kronos. His gold eyes stood out. I was reminded of Hazel. They both had gold eyes. But both were different.
Kronos' eyes looked hard and cold.
Hazel's eyes were kind and bright.
I started at Kronos and he smirked. He directed a line of monsters towards the bridge.
"Everyone off the bridge." I called.
All the campers backed away. There was one camper who was still shooting arrows at the monsters.
I grabbed the quiver on his back and pulled him off.
My eyes flared gold under the mist and I thrust out my hand. The bridge crumbled, sending at least twenty monsters into the river.
Theseus had convinced the river guardians to work with us.
"What was that? You never said you could control earth." Thalia said.
"Hmm?" I blinked and pulled my attention back. I was getting tired. Not as much as anyone else, but still a bit tired.
"Yeah. I've been training a lot. I'm not good at it. But Hades is the god of the Underworld and that's under rock. Children of Hades have a small ability to control rock. If they try a lot. It takes a bunch of energy." I walked back towards the campers.
"Anyone who is injured, go to the hotel on the southeast edge of Central Park. We are setting up a base there. Make sure at least one healer goes there." I ordered.
"The rest of you check on some cabins. If they've fought off the monsters, have them go to the hotel." I sent them off.
"Looks like you've really become the leader of the camp here." Thalia smiled.
"No. I'm an outcast at camp. But they listen to me because they need someone to tell them what to do." I disagreed.
"Andy. You just defeated more than fifty monsters and destroyed a bridge. You must rest." Thalia said.
"Yeah. I- I should. But I can't. I need to help." I argued.
"No. You need rest." Zoë backed up Thalia.
"F-fine. I'll take us to the hotel." I grabbed them and shadow traveled us to the hotel.
I walked in and went to the floor the demigods were on.
I handed out the Ambrosia and Nectar that I had in my bag.
I ended up falling asleep for a bit. I woke up to Thalia knocking on the door.
"Prometheus is here. He has a white flag. He has two others with him." She told me.
"Okay. I'll talk with him." I got up and pressed the garnet, appearing in my royal outfit.
It would probably be best to be diplomatic.
I had a conversation with him and he showed me a conversation between Luke and Hermes.
I thanked him but didn't join him. He gave me the pithos that Pandora first opened. Inside was Elpis. Hope.
I could feel the spirit in there. Even just touching the jar gave me hope.
He told me that if I released it, it would be a sign of surrender.
I thanked him and left. When I was far enough away. I looked at the jar.
Hestia, I give you this as a gift. For hope is safest at the hearth. Please keep it safe. The jar disappeared in a flash of flames.
We continued on our way. On the way back to the hotel, I ran into Hyperion.
"Oh, this I've been looking forward to." He growled.
"Have you been?" I asked coldly. "Because I haven't even thought of you."
He growled and charged. I gathered the mist around us and played the scene of us dueling and him falling in the water.
Really, we had a duel. But he added a little extra fire. I absorbed the fire as we went. I used the earth to trip him up.
He fell to the ground and I stabbed through his armor.
He dissolved into fire. I took a step back and nearly collapsed.
I shadow traveled into the room the demigods were staying in.
"Woah. Andy! What happened?" Grover and Thalia came over.
"Sorry, Hyperion." I panted. Zoë handed me a piece of Ambrosia. I took it gratefully, and ate it.
I soon stood up on my own.
"Hyperion was on the path back. He challenged me." I sat down on the edge of the bed.
"You defeated him?" Zoë asked.
"Yeah. He's gone. I think I need to sleep now. That took a lot." I lay back.
"You do that. We'll let you know what's going on." Thalia said.
I fell asleep. In my dream, Kronos ordered a drakon to be released. I knew this drakon. It's said to only be defeated by a child of Ares. I was glad Clarisse was on her way.
I woke up to hear it's resounding roar through the city.
I went outside to help hold it off as the Ares cabin came in.
Clarisse was leading her cabin. One of her siblings fell to it and she started attacking it.
She received the blessing of Ares and slew it.
I joined the campers who were being forced back to the bottom of the Empire State Building.
I spotted a helicopter coming into the city.
I called Star in to take a Hephaestus camper up to save them.
They landed and Rachel came out of the helicopter.
"Andy! You're not the hero." She said as soon as she got out.
I knew what she meant right away.
"I know, the pronouns were wrong." I told her. The campers gathered at the bottom and were cornered. Then, the party ponies came in and helped.
Thalia, Zoë, and I walked into the building. Grover was there with an old satyr from the council.
The council member died and reincarnated as a laurel.
We all went to Olympus and I got an idea.
I placed my hand on Poseidon's throne.
I'm incredibly sorry to touch your throne Lord Poseidon, but the Olympians will lose if you don't help them. They need help fighting Typhon. I conveyed the message to Poseidon.
I know we aren't friends and you don't owe me anything, but Olympus needs your help.
I waited for a pause. Very well, niece. I will help them. But if you ever touch my throne again, I will smite you.
I smiled and removed my hand.
"Andy? Are you okay? You started smoking." Thalia said.
I looked at myself and realized I was still in my royal outfit. I blushed and pressed the diamond. A new outfit replaced my royal attire. I thought about it for a moment before pressing the amethyst.
My armor came on. I kept my armor simple. Just a thin breastplate and a helmet. I dismissed the helmet with a thought.
It was made of Nyxian silver. It had a dark purple sheen to it.
Katie came running into the throne room.
"Kronos is gathering his army near the base of the building." Katie said.
We made our way down to the entrance where people were fighting.
The ending had come. The question was, who would win?
A/N: Sorry that it has been forever. A lot happened and I've been struggling. Anyway, has everyone watched the new PJO show?
