Thanksgiving

"Dinners almost ready!" Phineas called out, as if he and Ferb been working on it for hours. They had spent weeks trying to convince their parents to let them cook everything for Thanksgiving, reminding them that they were 15 this year. And buttered Linda up by reminding her that they had learned how to cook from the best. Especially after Linda taught them everything she had learned from those fancy cooking classes she had taken over the course of a few summers. The night before, their parents had agreed to let them try, with the stipulation that if the food didn't turn out being very good, the boys would have to pay for pizza themselves instead.

Phineas and Ferb were up for the challenge though. They made the family promise to stay away from the kitchen, as they didn't want their surprise ruined. They weren't actually cooking anything! They'd been working on the idea of a machine that could make an entire feast of anything someone may ask for in a matter of minutes. So instead of cooking, they began inventing in the kitchen. The end result was a device small enough to fit on the counter, but large enough to take up a good portion of it as well. It looked like a metal bread box, with a touch screen pannel on one side, and 3 buttons.

"Ready to test it, Ferb?" Phineas asked, practically jumping from excitement. It was definitely contagious, because Ferb's usual, calm demeanor faded away as his own excitement kicked in. He smiled and nodded, handing Phineas the list Linda had made of all the Thanksgiving essentials needed for dinner.

Phineas hit the top button, and the machine silently whirled to life, ready to make an amazing feast. Phineas used the touch screen to choose and prepare everything, and hit the bottom button when he was done. The machine made a quiet humming sound as it prepared the meal, then opened 5 minutes later with a delicious smelling plume of white smoke. It was a success! Dinner was officially ready. The boys celebrated for a moment before gathering up all the dishes and rushing them over to the table, as they could hear the sounds of footsteps coming down the stairs. They wanted to make sure everything was perfect!

As they set everything on the table, they heard a large explosion come from the kitchen. They slowly turned around, hoping not to see fire. They were afraid their invention malfunctioned, and that instead of enjoying a Thanksgiving feast, they'd have to escape a burning house instead. Their hearts sank when all they saw behind them was black smoke. As Phineas opened his mouth to call for his family to run outside instead of coming into the dining room, he suddenly heard a noise that made his heart stop.

Perry was coughing heavily as smoke filled the room. He had just returned from a particularly long visit with Doofensmirtz, and had come to a rest in the kitchen, where the boys had just been.

Doofensmirtz had made a "Turkey-Attractionator", that was supposed to be able to steal the entire Tri-State Areas supply of turkey, making him the only person who had any. And if anyone wanted any, they would have to make him ruler of the Tristate Area! It of course, exploded, but as Perry was getting ready to leave, Heinz realized they were both in trouble since the explosion that was still in progress was right next to a box of fully assembled and ready to blow self destruct buttons. Perry was able to save them both at the last second, as everything exploded around them. Perry felt something hit him in the back of the head as they fled.

As Perry laid down, he could hear footsteps coming down the stairs, so he ripped his hat off as quickly as possible, and watched as something flew off of the hat. He realized, one second too late, that a stray self destruct button had hit him in the head, and made its way all the way home with him without being set off… until now. It hit a brand new machine sitting on the counter with a loud bang, followed by black smoke and deathening silence until Perry started coughing in controllably.

"Perry!" Phineas yelled, running straight into the smoke and towards the sound of Perry's coughs. He couldn't see a thing, but noted that he also couldn't see flames. His eyes started watering as he desperately looked for Perry, and after a few seconds of being engulfed by smoke, he started coughing as well. But he kept running towards Perry's sounds, desperate to save his best friend.

Ferb watched in absolute shock and horror as he waited for Phineas to emerge from the smoke. He wanted to run in himself when he heard Phineas start to cough as well. But he felt completely frozen in place, unable to move or do anything but wait and watch helplessly. A few long seconds later, Phineas ran back out of the kitchen as the smoke started disappearing through a suddenly open window. Ferb was definitely confused about that, as it hadn't been open moments earlier. But he didn't give it much thought as he finally broke out of his trance and ran to his brother, hugging him tightly, just glad he was ok.

A few minutes later, the rest of the family cautiously walked into the dining room as well. By that time, the smoke had pretty much cleared out. To Phineas and Ferb's surprise, nothing was damaged at all. Everything was in place… Except for their new invention, that had mysteriously disappeared. There was no marks or anything that would even suggest that the machine had ever existed at all. They gave each other a weird look as they let go of each other at last, trying to figure out what had happened.

"Phineas, Ferb! Are you ok?! What happened? We heard an explosion!" Linda sounded worried as she looked around her kitchen, trying to figure out what happened.

"We're totally fine Mom. Just a small technical difficulty. Dinner is ready though!" Phineas used dinner as a distraction, as he figured it wasn't worth trying to explain something that didn't exist anymore to his family. He was actually excited to show their new invention to his mom as well.

"Technical difficulty… wait a minute. What exploded?" Candice asked, slowly looking more and more suspicious. She was visiting from college for the holiday, and definitely back into her old habits. Phineas couldn't help but crack a small smile. He hadn't had her try to bust him for months. He kind of missed it sometimes. He opened his mouth to answer, when the doorbell rang. The rest of the family had arrived for dinner! As everyone went to great them, Candace shot him a look that said "this isn't over!"

Later, as everyone prepared to sit down to eat, Ferb got Phineas's attention. "Hey bro, look! I found the Thanksgiving Platypus too!" He held up Perry, dresses as a turkey, with one of the biggest grins Phineas had ever seen.

"You know, one day you really got to let the Easter Platypus joke die!" Phineas exclaimed with a fake scowl on his face, holding back his laughter. Everyone else started laughing at the look on his face as they started passing around, in Linda's words, one of the most delicious thanksgiving feasts.

In the dead of night, Perry silently snuck up a dimly lit driveway. While he had been at Doofensmirtz's earlier, Doofensmirtz had kept mentioning how it had been years since able to sit down and enjoy a good Thanksgiving meal with anyone. He mentioned that he was considering having the entire Tristate Area join him for Thanksgiving Dinner after he became the leader. Perry had kept what he'd said in mind throughout the rest of the evening when he went home.

Doofensmirtz was staying with Vanessa for a day or two after the explosion at his place. So Perry was carefully planning his route of entry so he didn't bug her, when he could hear a very loud and familiar sigh from the backyard. He quickly made his way back towards the noise, and found Doofensmirtz, looking sad as he sit on the back porch, staring off into space. Perry made his way over to where Doofensmirtz was sitting, and sat down next to him, chattering.

"Oh hey Perry the Platypus. What are you doing here?"

Perry chattered again and gave Doofensmirtz a look like he was wondering the same thing about him.

"I was just thinking out here for a minute. It would've been nice to do something this year for Thanksgiving. Maybe next year I'll try and ask Vanessa if she minds me going with her to whatever her plans are." He mumbled, still deep in thought.

Perry held up one finger, and reached into a little white bag he'd brought with him. He pulled out two overflowing containers of food he'd gotten from his house. There was literally a bit of everything from dinner in the containers for them to share, from turkey, to stuffing, to rolls. Doofensmirtz's face completely lit up when he saw them.

"Thank you so much, Perry the Platypus!" He practically yelled as they started eating together.

It's been a WHILE since I've added anything new on here. but I'm definitely hoping I'll be able to add new content more often again. Including finally being able to finish The Dimensional Conflict! I hope you guys enjoy the newest holiday chapter!
