I don't own Disney's The Owl House. I do, however own the Main OC. Hope you all enjoy my story on this lovely show.
Chapter Thirty-Two
It has been close to a week since Danielle and Collector fully recovered from the cosmic cold. Collector especially as he was flying all around the Owl House. Today though, was scavenging though Eda's apocalyptic pile of junk and finding the easier ingredients to the Portal Door and placing them together. Danielle had used the plant and wood glyph to keep an old used door in place.
"I can't believe Philip is keeping the better stuff to himself," thought Collector, eyeing the construct of the door carefully. "Big meanie."
"All stuff is set, now all that's left is the Titan's Blood," said Danielle, seeing King holding a syringe of his blood. "Thanks King. It's really kind of you to let me use your blood."
"Are you sure this isn't gonna like, blow our faces off?" asked Eda, sitting on her makeshift dingy that she converted by adding a bike to it.
"Won't know till we try," said Danielle, before looking at Collector. "Besides, Collector is overseeing it and helped in making it."
"I could have snuck into the Emperor's castle and gotten the better stuff if not the actual Portal Door," said Collector, looking at Danielle.
"That's very thoughtful," said Danielle, cupping Collector's face. "But who knows what he would have done if he figured out who you were. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if he had another tablet and sealed you away from us."
"Only a Titan could do that with the tablet," said Collector, looking at Danielle. "But, yeah, I don't want to be separated from all of you."
"Well, here goes something," said Eda, pedaling and generating a magic current straight to the Portal Door.
"It worked," said Danielle, looking at the Portal Door as it opened. "But it's different."
"I'd say," said King, looking at the surreal scenery in the Portal Door.
"The Inbetween," said Collector, hiding behind Danielle. "Reconsider this."
"But this is my one chance to see my dad," said Danielle, tying a rope around her waist. "Pull me back should anything starts to go wrong."
"Danielle, as impressive as this is..." said Eda, looking at Danielle as she held on the rope. "I don't want you getting hurt."
"Same here," said Collector, looking at Danielle.
"Just going to make sure my dad is okay, then I'll be right back," said Danielle, looking at everyone.
"Just be careful. The Human Realm's filled with some real weirdos," said Eda, winking at Danielle.
"Don't forget to mention me!" said King, as Danielle hugged everyone.
"Don't forget this," said Collector, putting Danielle's Sorcerer Cloak around her.
"Thanks Collector," said Danielle, ruffling Collector's hair. "Here goes."
Danielle stops in front of the Portal Door, stares into the dimension, then jumps into it. Danielle is floating up from a pool of water. Danielle gasps, gets up and starts coughing. A strange cube-like object appears from the water and starts floating upwards. Danielle watches this and gasps. There are multiple similar cubes floating around above.
"Well, this is new. Eda? King? Hooty? Collector?" shouted Danielle, as more cubes float nearby. "Can you hear me from here? Huh...?"
"Do you think she's safe?" asked King, not seeing Danielle reflected in the window of the house.
"She's made it this far. We just have to trust her," said Eda, before hearing a whistle and turning around seeing Danielle in the mirror. "How in the…"
"Oh, you found those weird cubes," said Collector, looking at Danielle. "They never floated where I was but you can communicate with your dad that way."
"What about my mom?" asked Danielle, looking at Collector.
"The door is connected to here and the Human Realm," replied Collector, looking at Danielle. "So, no…wait wait wait, aw the cube floated away."
"Alright then, it would be nice to see Skye but dad comes…" said Danielle, before seeing a cube flashing way above her before using the cubes as a means to get to it. "Oh my, my house. Dang, I should have stayed focus there. What the…?"
"There we go. I really like these cute toys she has," said the Snake-like Being, sitting on the floor before seeing Danielle reflected in the flat television set and screaming.
"Danielle, sweetie," said a Feminine Voice, from downstairs in the living room. "Everything okay up there?"
"Yes, Aunt Alicia," said the Snake-like Being, hiding behind the loveseat. "I just stepped on one of my toys."
"Be more careful," said Aunt Alicia, as she heads towards the kitchen.
"Aunt Alicia," said Danielle, wondering why she was there. "Whoa, wait, hold on there. Put the bat down."
"You're from the Demon Realm," said the Snake-like Being, holding the bat fearfully.
"Look, I just want to…" said Danielle, looking at the Snake-like Being.
"I'm not going back! I… I won't go back!" said the Snake-like Being, before running downstairs and out the back door of the house.
"Danielle, sweetie," said Aunt Alicia, wondering where the Snake-like Being was going. "Jacob says…"
"Fresh air," shouted the Snake-like Being, as she runs all the way to the Old Wittebane house and inside. "So this is it. I'm gonna have to run... again. Why couldn't this just work out?!"
"Stop moving," said Danielle, appearing in the reflection of a compact mirror. "You'll only make it tighter."
"Huh?" said the Snake-like Being, back to her original self and staring at the compact mirror.
"A young Basilisk… look, I'm sorry to have startled you, just trying to make heads and tails here about what's happening," said Danielle, looking at the Young Basilisk. "What's your name?"
"I'm Number F… I mean, I'm Vee," replied the Young Basilisk, still scared.
"I'm going to help you here," said Danielle, looking at Vee. "See the trap jaw... the metal piece, you need to give it some slack so it's easier to move, yeah that's it, good."
"Ah! Thank you," said Vee, sobbing. "You must be Jacob's real daughter."
"Yup," said Danielle, looking at Vee. "But right now, I'm stuck here as the Portal Door is in the enemy's hands right now."
"What?" said Vee, shocked.
"Don't worry, it's destroyed right now because of me," said Danielle, looking at Vee. "Why are you pretending to be me anyway?"
"I am... just looking for a place to belong," replied Vee, looking at Danielle. "You're missing and dad... I mean, Jacob seemed so kind, so I stayed with him but uh, I'll go if you…"
"This may work in our favor," said Danielle, confusing Vee. "I was gonna check up on my dad this way but since you took on my form, dad doesn't realize I've been gone all this time. I know how my dad can be but if I can get him to listen to what's going on maybe he'll help."
"There's one problem. I need magic to transform and I, uh..." said Vee, touching her ears.
"Just used the last of it," said Danielle, before seeing a news article nearby. "That will help, go there."
"Secrets of Gravesfield?" said Vee, looking at the news article.
"Turn it over," said Danielle, seeing Vee flip the news article over.
"Strange woman banned from café," said Vee, looking at the news article.
"Eda the Owl Lady who I've been living with," said Danielle, looking at Vee. "I wouldn't be surprised if she accidentally left something magical behind."
"Okay!" said Vee, grabbing the mirror. "We can try."
"Ah, Gravesfield," said Danielle, watching Vee head into town then stopping in front of the Robin's Roast Café. "I can taste the London Fog from here."
"Is this it?" asked Vee, staring at the Café. "Huh, I… I just go in and ask about that witch from the paper?"
"Exactly," replied Danielle, looking at Vee. "Those enchanted pastries should be here or they tossed them. Vee, your ears."
"Oh, hi Danielle, nice to see you again," said the Female Shopkeeper, looking at Vee. "The usual right. One medium London Fog and a double chocolate chip muffin."
"Not today," said Vee, looking at the Female Shopkeeper. "Uh, have any, um, magical old ladies left enchanted items here?"
"Oh no, you're finally following your dad's footsteps," said the Female Shopkeeper, pinching the bridge of her nose.
"Actually, I'm asking about her," said Vee, pointing to a poster above the Female Shopkeeper.
"Oh, Marylin? Yeah, she tried to pay for a latte with a live raccoon a couple of months ago. But when I called the cops, she did something weird to the croissants," said the Female Shopkeeper, picking up a croissant with a set of tongs. "We threw 'em in the trash but... well, now we have a whole new problem."
"Vee, go to the side alley," said Danielle, in a low voice.
"I don't... smell any magic," said Vee, smelling around the side alley. "Huh?"
"Ew, gross," said Danielle, seeing the rats talking before Vee ran away screaming. "You okay there?"
"Oh, yeah," replied Vee, chuckling nervously. "I… I just don't like confrontation."
"It's okay," said Danielle, before seeing some Hexes Hold'em cards nearby with some teens. "So, Eda got rid of them here, sheesh. Vee, see if you can ask Masha over there where you can procure those cards?"
"Masha?" said Vee, looking at Danielle.
"The one in the black dress," said Danielle, as Vee walked over.
"Hello!" said Vee, nervously as she approached Masha and two other teens.
"Hey Danielle," said Masha, looking at Vee. "No amusement park or seeing your aunt in Japan this year?"
"Uh, no," replied Vee, looking at Masha then pointing at the cards. "I was going to ask about the cards. Where'd you get 'em?"
"Uh-uh. Let me give you a reading first. I wanna practice," said Masha, shuffling the cards before placing three cards down. "You're running from your past. From a previous life that was not kind to you. However, the guilt and fear you carry will eventually catch you in a self-fulfilling prophecy that you won't be able to escape from."
"Vee," thought Danielle, looking at Vee concerned.
"You're gonna need some bath bombs, girl," said Masha, pointing at Vee.
"Got plenty," thought Danielle, sighing.
"Anyway, I got the cards over at the Gravesfield Historical Society where your dad works," said Masha, pointing at the nearby building.
"Thanks. I'll see you around," said Vee, walking towards the building.
"Cool contacts," shouted Masha, looking at Vee. "Didn't think your Grampa would have allowed it."
"Yeah, he wouldn't have," said Danielle, as Vee entered the building.
"Is it that dusty in here, sweet pea?" asked Jacob, sweeping the floor. "Saw you talking with Masha over there. Interested in those cards? You want a set?"
"Yes, please!" said Vee, excited.
"Let me go get some sweet pea," said Jacob, looking at Vee. "Why don't you look around? I know how much you love history as well."
"Vee, are you okay?" asked Danielle, seeing Vee looking sad. "Forget that prediction, I know what its like to run away…"
"Record! Record! This could help!"
"Got it," said Danielle, starting up a recording on her cell phone.
"You and I are not the same. You had a dad who loved you, a home, a life, you had it good! And you still wanted to run away, I... I didn't have a choice. My real name is... Number Five. I'm a basilisk, and technically, I... I shouldn't exist," said Vee, taking off her hat. "My kind went extinct a long time ago, but we were brought back. They wanted to know how we drained magic. For many of us, all we knew how to do was feed. Some of us escaped, but I knew it was only a matter of time before he caught us again. That's when I saw you, and... and realized there might be a way out of this! I resent you for running away. But I'm also thankful that you did. I dunno. It's... confusing."
"I ran away cause I got upset with my dad that morning and wanting to find my mom," said Danielle, gripping her cellphone as Vee gasped. "When I came here, I thought, hey, what dad was into these last few years were real and thought there was a connection, so I stayed hoping mom was here and I could bring her back. Vee… are you smelling…"
"Magic," said Vee, sniffing near a door in the lobby and opening it. "Where's the light?"
"Dad's going to get fired again," said Danielle, seeing the room covered with all of her dad's stuff. "Seriously."
"What is all this?" asked Vee, before bumping into the computer, it turning on and showing what happened at the Wittebane house hours ago. "Have we been followed this whole time?"
"Vee, calm down. Vee!" shouted Danielle, before losing her connection than looking at the cubes around her. "Vee, Gravesfield Historical Society. Oh, thank goodness."
"Let me out!" shouted Vee, getting frantic and revealing her true self.
"Woah, it worked? I… I can't believe it, are you real?" asked Jacob, as Vee slaps the stick away that he poked her with. "After all that time, after setting up all those traps, I... I finally caught a living, breathing demon! Oh, don't be surprised. A few years back I had a chance encounter with another one of your kind. Yeah, at first I couldn't believe what I saw, but after watching a few MewTube videos I learned the truth. Witches and demons are real... and they're all sent from Mars to harvest human teeth to power their time machine!"
"What?" thought Danielle, angry as she did a wonky dance.
"You... don't actually know anything about us, do you?" asked Vee, looking at Jacob.
"Are you kidding me?" shouted Danielle, gaining her dad's attention.
"What the… sweet pea," said Jacob, after having fallen to the floor after his daughter shouted. "Is that really you? My baby girl!"
"Mars… harvesting teeth… time machine," said Danielle, looking at her dad. "Dad, this is getting out of hand."
"No no, sweet pea, it's okay, this demon here will tell all," said Jacob, approaching Vee. "What have you done with my wife?"
"Dad, stop…" said Danielle, seeing her dad jostle the cage Vee was in.
"Because of your kind, Danielle has no mom," shouted Jacob, scaring Vee more. "Because of your kind, I'm single. What have you done with her? Where's Aria?"
"Dad, she's innocent," shouted Danielle, looking at her dad. "Completely innocent. Please, let me explain what happened after I left."
"Okay, sweet pea, I'll listen," said Jacob, looking at his daughter.
And so, Danielle explained everything from the beginning up to today. Jacob was happy to know that his wife was okay but was floored when finding out she was an immortal celestial, or in his words, a goddess. Jacob though, was still upset that Danielle destroyed the Portal Door but could see that she did the right thing by preventing Caleb from returning to Gravesfield. Jacob was also floored when Danielle showed him the recent recording between her and Vee.
"This is all so much. To think that the story of the Wittebane Brothers still continues," said Jacob, before looking at his daughter. "Danielle, find your way back here as quickly as possible. Caleb is an old Puritan, if he were to find out that you were Roman Catholic, I-I'd fear what he'd do to you."
"But what about mom?" asked Danielle, looking at her dad. "I've come so far. My celestial nature keeps coming out… see, my hair is shifting to its silver white color. I'll still finish high school when I get back and-and attend Yale."
"Look from what you just told me, she's in this Morning Star Palace," said Jacob, looking at Danielle. "She's in a safe place, you aren't. Build a better Portal Door and come back to me. This demon can be housed by your witch mentor. And you don't have to attend Yale. That's Grampa's dream for you, not yours. What do you really want to do after high school.?
"But Caleb…" said Danielle, looking at her dad. "Look, I really don't know after high school now but I don't want to hear Grampa get on my case."
"Look, I lost you mom to that realm and the beast that took her," said Jacob, looking at Danielle. "I'm not going to lose you too. Also, we'll figure something out regarding what to do after high school. If you do bring your mom back, she can scare Grampa into submission, she was the only one who could."
"What beast?" asked Danielle, before her dad showed her a picture, shocking her.
"This beast. It attacked me the day on that journalism report for the newspaper," replied Jacob, holding the photo for his daughter to see. "Your mom saved me but was taken. If seen, do not engage. Get the protection of your mentor."
"Yes, dad," said Danielle, as she took a picture of the photo.
"Good, now as for you," said Jacob, staring at Vee. "I don't like that you took on my daughter's appearance and masqueraded around as her. I'll grab all the cards but when in my house, you will don a different appearance. Do I make myself clear?"
"Yes sir," said Vee, about to curl in on herself as she realized what Jacob said. "Wait… you're letting me stay?"
"I don't want to upset my daughter anymore than she should be, so yes," replied Jacob, staring at Vee. "Also, you're changing that name. And sleeping on the daybed in my study. Also, why would you continue to call yourself Five?"
"Huh…" said Vee, confused.
"There was the letter v on your cage, right?" asked Jacob, seeing Vee nod "yes". "That's the roman numeral for the number five, so you're still basically still calling yourself Five."
"Oh, I didn't realize," said Vee, looking at the floor.
"Maybe I can educate you a little," said Jacob, sitting Vee free before looking at Danielle. "And Danielle, please please, come home."
"Don't worry, I will," said Danielle, as the cube floated away. "I never once hated you. I love you dad, with all my heart."
"As do I, sweet pea. Here, eat up," said Jacob, handing some cards over. "I'm not about to leave with you in said form."
"Thank you," said Vee, as they left and resumed Danielle's appearance before entering the family car.
"I can't believe it, my wife is a goddess," said Jacob, driving down the road. "And my daughter is going to become one. I never thought… why are you screaming?"
"It's him, it's him!" shouted Vee, scared as she looked out the car window. "He's here."
"What?" shouted Jacob, stopping the car and exiting it before seeing the statue of the Wittebane Brothers. "It's just the statues. Still can't believe it's the elder Wittebane that…"
"It's not that one. It's that one," said Vee, pointing at the statue of the youngest Wittebane. "I remember him taking on that form slightly for a little bit."
"… … this is not good, if it's Philip than… Grimwalker… still here," said Jacob, slowly putting the pieces together. "The Grimwalker is a clone of the brother… possession. He's possessing the Grimwalkers. He's trying to make it so he and his brother can take down that realm together."
"What does this mean?" asked Vee, looking at Jacob.
"It means that no matter how much he tries that will never be his brother. Bring back the body all he wants but he can't bring back the soul," replied Jacob, staring at the statues. "He's torturing those poor Grimwalkers in hopes to relive those memories of when he hunted witches with his brother. Let's go, we'll catch cold if we stay out in this rain for too long."
"Okay," said Vee, entering the car as Jacob drove the rest of the way home.
As for Danielle, she had just curled up on a floating cube after the connection ended. Stunned silent since seeing the photo her dad showed her. Feeling herself being pulled back, Danielle exits the Inbetween and lands on top of everyone.
"Danielle!" shouted everyone, hugging Danielle.
"Hey," said Danielle, weakly and upset.
"I'm sorry, I had to pull you out," said Eda, looking at Danielle as she undid the rope around her. "The portal was closing."
"Did you talk to your dad?" asked King, jumping on Danielle's shoulder. "Did you mention me?"
"Danielle, you don't look so good," said Collector, looking at Danielle, concerned.
"What happened kid?" asked Eda, looking at Danielle before the photo on the cellphone was shoved in her face, a picture of her in Owl Beast form.
"How could you not tell me? You attacked my mom and dad that day," said Danielle, making Eda uneasy and the others to gasp as tears streamed down her face. "What did you do my mom?"
Owl Pellet #25
(Set later that night)
"Whoohoo! I got myself a hot goddess of a wife!" shouted Jacob, humming a tune while doing a funny dance before doing the split. "Aah! Ooh, I got to stop doing that."
"That was… awkward," said Vee, sitting on the couch in the living room as Skye meowed in agreement.
