Chapter 4

The Aftermath of what we had done finally set in with us.

Zeon will hunt us now relentlessly after killing Garma Zabi.

Due to this, Bright hastened our escape to Federation territory.

We also met Lt. Matilda, who relayed our new orders.

To join Operation Odessa.

To do this, we have to cross the Pacific Ocean and enter Asian territories to reach Europe, where we will fight in the operation.

Her presence raised the crew's morale, even with the unexpected order she brought. I think the boys liked her.

I didn't have the heart to tell them that she was already taken (she had a ring).

As we cross the Pacific, we meet our pursuers.

This time, it's an ace.

A blue Gouf.

It was strong, and it was very smart.

In our first encounter, they damaged Amuro's system through electrical attacks. He was lucky I was there to cover him.

But even with our combined efforts, we can't touch the Blue Gouf.

He was a better pilot than we were.

We are stuck in a stalemate. We can't take them out, but they can't capture us.

For now, they are skirmishing against us through various ambushes. Fortunately, we managed to kill some Zaku soldiers, forcing them back for a few days.

On those free days, Amuro met his mother. They had a fight, but Bright fixed it.

I envy him. His mother is still alive.

The next few days, we will meet our pursuers again. This time they are more prepared.

Luring all MS pilots away from the ship, they successfully boarded it. Many died fighting the boarders before we came to the rescue after disabling the enemy's Gallop.

On the ship, the enemy commander held Miss Sayla and the kids hostage in the communications room.

"Don't move!" The old veteran said while holding Sayla with a gun pointed at her head. Meanwhile, the kids huddle in the corner safely. Zeon soldiers are also with the enemy commander, guns aimed at me and Amuro.

In our MS, we backed off.

Then Sayla nodded.

I brought a Magnum. All looked at me startled.

"Mika! What are you doing!?" Amuro hissed.

" Sayla is ready to die for the crew, we all are." I said with resolve. Sayla nodded in return.

Amuro tried to protest but remained silent. This time, the Zeon forces are on the back foot.

The old veteran chuckled.

"That's a real soldier right there." He said, releasing Sayla. "We surrender."

Their soldiers followed suit.

The old veteran was Ramba Real, Ace Gouf pilot was captured by us and treated as a VIP POW with his soldiers.

Bright allowed him a single call to his wife to return home. His fine under Federation POW laws.

With his capture, we can now safely travel across Europe without any pursuers.

Meanwhile, I took advantage of this opportunity to learn from a real ace MS pilot.

Bright and Sayla didn't like it, but allowed it.

It took me days of convincing, but Mr. Ral accepted to teach us.

Ryu might be a good pilot, but he's a fighter pilot at best. Ral has much more experience in MS combat.

Mr. Ral taught me MS combat tactics. From duels to firefights, he taught me everything he had learned as a first-generation pilot. Amuro also joined us, and the boys followed reluctantly.

They were angry with the man after he killed a lot of them in his last attack.

Unfortunately, he was the only one who could teach us proper MS combat.

I also noticed something. Sayla and Mr. Ral had known each other before she joined the army.

Curious.

On our journey to Europe, we encountered a snag.

A Zeon ace team came to rescue Ral.

Equipped with a new MS, the Dom, they followed us.

A fight broke out immediately.

Amuro took them on with the boys covering him. Meanwhile, I boarded Lt. Matilda's Gunperry to provide sniper support.

Mr. Ral discovered that I was a natural sniper. It would be a huge waste if I didn't develop it. I think it's just the effect of my perks.

Using my Beam Magnum, I killed one of them with a surprise shot from the sky. Amuro killed one after with a beam saber to the chest before ending the last one via beheading.

After this, we finally joined Operation Odessa.

Operation Odessa is the first biggest attack against Zeon occupation.

They must retake this land from Zeon, depriving them of the resources it provides.

The Federation will send an all out attack from all directions, trapping Zeon forces under their three defense lines.

Amuro and Kai joined the battlefield riding Hayato's Guntank. Meanwhile, I joined the first generation GMs in the Gunperrys.

The first attack comes with bang.

Using the new mass produced Hyper Bazookas, we layed waste on the enemy first line. It was then taken by our ground forces. Fighters and Gunperrys launched bombing and artillery strikes to key defense targets all day.

We hit a snag when a bunch of GMs got killed in a trench trap. Fortunately, Amuro and Kai survived because the Guntank didn't fall.

For an entire day, we captured their first line after a heavy firefight against multiple defensive placements and MS.

Second day of the offensive hit a snag.

Fighters and Gunperrys got shot down as Dobday class land battleships entered the battlefield. They had decimated the eastern forces and are now moving to bolster the other lines.

Me and a few Gunperrys were ordered to destroy them. Unfortunately, we got caught under heavy gunfire, causing my Gunperry and the others to explode.

I survived by jumping.

Now, deep in enemy territory, I continued the mission. In our failure, Ground type Guntanks were deployed in my position.

I meet up with them and rode with them to battle.

We found our first target and easily destroyed it with one shot of the Magnum. The last one surprised us as it lured us in a kill zone.

An ambush of multiple Dom's.

I fought the Dom's leaving the Guntanks to handle the last land battleship to them.

Doms are very fast and agile in land combat turning my Beam Magnum useless against them. I resorted to Hyper bazooka to cut off their paths and kill them one by one.

I sustained heavy damage to my armor but nothing serious.

The last Dobday was destroyed but at the cost of one of our Guntanks.

We returned to base for repairs and resupply after that.

Third day of the offensive hit the climax of the operation.

The enemy General had launched a nuclear missile to the battlefield, intending to destroy both parties.

It was thanks to Amuro's quick thinking we survived. Using the Gundam and Ryu's core fighter, they disabled the missile before it could land.

Due to this obvious violation of the treaty, General Revil ordered a full force attack.

Zeon forces were forced to retreat and escape through HVL shuttles.

We have reclaimed Odessa.

There canon changes due to Mika's arrival.

Ramba Ral survived due to Mika's conviction. He would kill Sayla if that means killing the enemy commander. This kid will do anything to achieve viable results guys.

Black tri-stars died immediately due to Unicorn support.

Battle of Odessa went smoothly due to the development of the Hyper bazooka. That weapon easily shredded defensive installations and MS. It also became a staple in GM equipment now.

Amuro in this story is less whiny. Due to Mika, a competitive awakened in him with the others.

They developed a comraderie as they learned how to be a soldier.
