Chapter 4: Stantler's Little Helpers
One snowy night on Christmas Eve, Mew and her friends are staying in a cabin in the forest. Everyone prepares for Christmas Day, and for bed. Pikachu is entertaining Togepi and Pichu by making funny faces.
"I'm excited," Tomo says.
"Me too. I can't wait for Santa to come," Jen says.
"Wonder what he'll bring this year," Brock says.
"Well, we'll find out in the morning," Misty says.
Soon, the group hangs their stockings on the hooks of the bunkbeds.
Mew then lies down in bed as she calls out, "Pikachu. Eevee. It's time for bed."
Pikachu and Eevee then head for Mew's bed.
Misty says, "Togepi. Pichu. You two."
"Meloetta. Skwovet. Bedtime," Tomo says.
"Come on Amaura, Snubbul, it's time to sleep," Jen says.
Soon, the other Pokemon rush to their trainers' bed and snuggle into bed.
"Goodnight, everybody," Brock says.
"Goodnight," Everyone replies.
Later, while everyone is asleep, Chikoirta pops out of her Pokeball. Chikorita looks around and lets out a happy cry and runs to the bed Mew is sleeping. Chikorita hops up and down to see Pikachu sleeping next to Mew. She then turns to her right to see Eevee sleeping on the other side. Out of jealousy, Chikorita lifts Pikachu out of the bed and onto the floor with Vine Whip and takes Pikachu's place there and snuggles to Mew. Togepi is soon woken up by this.
Amaura and the others soon wake up from their sleep as well. Soon, Bulbasaur, Heracross, Vulpix, Winter the Alolan Vulpix, Poliwag, Psyduck, and Squirtle come out of their Pokeballs. Togepi and the others hop off of bed to play, even Chikorita. Pikachu stands up and wonders how he managed to get on the floor.
Heracross soon starts drinking nectar from Bulbasaur's bulb, only for Bulbasaur to retaliate with Vine Whip. Chikorita hops up on a nightstand to look out the window. Bulbasaur gives Togepi and Pichu a lift so they can see.
"Bulbasaur!" (Up you go!) Bulbasaur says.
The Pokemon wipe the window so they can see, and spot a sparkling Christmas tree outside. Suddenly, Chikorita and the other Pokemon spot a red beam of light streaking across the sky.
All the Pokemon soon put their faces against the window, but it suddenly opens and they fall out into a pile of snow. Then the Pokemon bursts out of the snow pile and heads into the woods to see what the streak of light is and where it lands.
Pikachu finally bursts out and races off as he calls out, "Pika!" (Wait up!)
Everyone continues running through the woods and comes to a stop to find the source of the light. Turns out, it's Santa Clause tending to his Stantler, who looks very under the weather.
"This doesn't look good," Santa says, petting his Stantler.
Everyone soon approaches, and the Pokemon are surprised that it's really him.
Pikachu is the first to ask, "Pika Pika?" (Is something wrong?)
"Oh, hello, there," Santa says.
Eevee looks at Stantler, "Eevee Eevee?" (What's wrong with your Stantler?)
"Chiko," (Is Stantler okay?) Chikoirtia asks, worried.
"I'm afraid Stantler here seems a little under the weather," Santa says.
Pikachu touches Stantler's forehead to check its temperature, but is shocked to feel that it's running a fever. Eevee and Chikoirta do the same, and can tell Stantler is not well at all.
"I'd love to let it rest, but we've got important work to do tonight," Santa says, "There is. I have some berries that'll keep down the fever, but these are all I have left." and presents to see how many berries he has, which is not much at all.
Then Pikachu volunteers, "Pikachu!" (We'll find more!)
"You're going to look for some more?" Santa asks.
Eevee says, "Eevee." (We sure will.)
"Oh, thank you," Santa says.
"Pika Pika." (No problem, Santa.) Pikachu says.
And with that, Pikachu, Eevee, and the rest of the gang begin searching for the berries Santa needs for Stantler. They search and search for the berries, in the snow, the bushes, and other places. But they have little luck.
Just then, Pikachu has an idea.
Then calls out to the others, "Pika! Pika Pika! Pikachu!" (Hey, guys! I got a great idea! Follow me!)
Everyone soon heads back to the cabin and to the Christmas tree. On Pikachu's command, Chikorita uses a Razor Leaf to knock the star off of the top and right onto the top of Pikachu's head, allowing him to power it with his own electricity.
Soon, they all return to looking for the berries, this time with more light so they can see. Though they don't find any at first, Chikorita slips and hits a tree, causing a bunch of snow to fall onto Psyduck, turning him into a Poke-snowball. And he soon rolls downhill and gets bigger and bigger until he hits some trees, a snow ramp, and then lands onto the others. Thankfully, Vulpix melts the snow with a Flamethrower.
The search continues as the group reaches the top of a mountain.
Squritle says, "Squirtle." (Nothing.)
"Chiko Chiko." (No berries.) Chikorita answers.
"Bulbasaur." (Not a one.) Bulbasaur says.
"Psyduck." (Zippo.) Psyduck says.
Then Heracross says, "Heracross." (No luck.)
"Pol. ("Sorry.") Poliwag says.
Meloetta shakes her head, "Loetta." (I didn't find any either.)
"Skwovet," (No luck.) Skwovet says.
Amaura and Snubbul also shake their heads, letting them know that they didn't have luck either.
Soon, Vulpix and Winter call them over.
"Pika! Pikachu! (Vulpix! Winter!) Pikachu says.
Pikachu heads to the two Vulpix. Eevee does the same.
"Vee. Eevee Eevee?" (Vulpix. Did you and Winter find any?) Eevee asks.
Both Vulpix points up and a bush full of berries is at the near top of the cliff. The Pokemon are glad to finally find a whole bush of them. Togepi tries climbing, but Pikachu stops him.
Pikachu says, "Pika. Pikachu." (Hold on. Let me go.)
Then Pikachu starts to climb as everyone cheers him on.
Suddenly, the cold wind blows his star light off and out. The Pokemon continues cheering for Pikachu as Pikachu hangs on and keeps climbing until he reaches the top.
"Pika!" (At last!) Pikachu says.
Pikachu successfully picks some and everyone celebrates. Soon, the snowy cliff under Pikachu's feet gives way. Luckily, Bulbasaur and Chikorita are able to use their Vine Whip to catch him just in time. Then have him safely placed on the ground.
"Pika Pika." (That was a close one.) Pikachu says.
Soon, everyone rushes back to Santa and his Stantler.
Pikachu calls out, "Pika!" (Santa!)
"Eevee!" (Santa!) Eevee calls out.
Santa turns to see the Pokemon, "Pikachu! Eevee!
"Pika Pika." (We found some berries.) Pikachu says, presenting the berries.
"You found some! You found some of the berries! Santa says. He chuckles, "That's wonderful."
Soon, Pikachu, Eevee, and Chikorita place the berries on the ground for Stantler to eat. Stantler quickly eats the berries along with the ones given by Togepi and Pichu. One by one, the other Pokemon give Stantler the berries for it to eat.
"That's right. Good Stantler," Stantler says.
As shooting stars soar across the night, as everyone waits patiently for Stsntler's recovery. And soon, Stantler regains its strength.
"Sounds like there's gonna be a Christmas after all," Santa says.
The Pokemon cheers happily.
Stantler climbs on the sleigh and says, "Thank you, Pikachu. Thank you, Eevee. You and all your friends. Now, Stantler and I have some presents to deliver. Let's go, Stantler."
In no time, Stantler takes off running.
All the Pokemon follow until Santa gives the word, "Away!"
With the sound of jingle bells, Stantler takes to the air and the Pokemon stop and wave Santa goodbye and wish him a Merry Christmas. Soon, snow begins to fall from the sky. In moments, the Stantler lifts the sleigh off the ground as the Pokemon wave goodbye and shout Merry Christmas.
Soon, snow begins to fall as Santa flies past the moon.
"Merry Christmas!" Santa shouts.
The Pokemon are left with bright eyes and smiles as Ben and Santa fly away.
The next morning, everyone in the cabin wakes up on Christmas day to see the surprise waiting for them.
"Wow! Look at all the presents!" Tomo says.
Misty sees the present, "Look Togepi. Pichu. These got your name on it."
"There's one for you and Snubbul, Amaura," Jen says.
Brock happily says, "Here's mine! Here's mine!"
"This is gonna be the best Christmas ever!" Mew says.
"Pikachu. (It sure is.) Pikachu says.
"Eevee happily says, "Eevee." (The best Christmas.)
Everyone begins to open their presents and see what they have, and have a small party too.
Outside of the cabin, where the star Pikachu used the night before is back on the tree, but crooked.
