Chapter 4: Fairy Tail
"I can't believe I'm going to Fairy Tail!" I internally exclaimed the fifth time, walking through the city, taking sight of everything. Magnolia is such a beautiful place indeed. Happy was grinning at me while Natsu stroll beside me which is surprising considering he had walked behind us since the start of our journey. While we were heading our way to Fairy Tail, I noticed something strange. The people were keeping their distance from us and just stared right at me, baring fear filled eyes, something I frown at.
I ignore them though, but I was starting to feel nervous around their stares. Why would they assume I want to harm them? And Natsu and Happy won't start any unnecessary battles without Natsu being provoked, I guess. I glance at Natsu who had a bored expression and shift closer to him, hoping to ease the nervous feeling. The people around us gasp collectively at my actions.
"Did you see that?" I heard someone in the crowd of people whisper with to my dragon slayer hearing.
"Is she crazy?! She's gonna die!"
"Who is that girl with Chaos?"
"I don't know but she must be either brave or stupid to near that beast"
My brows furrowed together when I heard that. Natsu and I may be raised by mythical beasts, but that doesn't mean we're one. I glance around the streets. The people just shiver when I stare at them, shaking as though they'll be murdered on the spot.
"Is this normal around here?" I whispered to Happy.
"Aye, everyone is scared of Natsu. He's not really friendly around people" Happy replied.
I internally facepalm, cursing myself for being an idiot. Of course, no wonder they're scared. I was heading to Fairy Tail with THE chaos dragon slayer. Natsu was raised by Acnologia. Everyone is afraid of Acnologia, it's not surprising that they'll direct that same fear at Natsu. I can't believe I forgot those stupid rumors about him. Still, that does not give them the right to treat him like a monster. Few minutes later, I stared at the fairy tail building. I was not entirely sure what to feel. I was so excited but nervous at the same time. I tighten my fist and take some deep breaths.
"Let's go in, Lucy" Happy said looking up to me smiling. I saw Natsu started to walk away. "Natsu, aren't you coming?"
"No" Natsu answered bluntly.
I blinked. "Okkkaaayyy..." I said slowly.
"I guess that's our que to leave. See you tomorrow, Lucy!" Happy said as he flew next to Natsu who was walking away, leaving me alone at the entrance.
With that, I took one last deep breath, and opened the doors of the guild. I flinched slightly and covered my ears due to the loud noise inside. I look up to see almost everyone was brawling against each other, tables and chairs being thrown in the air, the people throwing them shout, their energy bustling with something more excitement than angry. A full blown fight rages on before my eyes.
"Whoa. I know Fairy Tail are destructive, but I didn't think they would be THIS destructive!" I yelp as someone went flying to a wall beside me.
"Fight me Gajeel!" Said a man with a raven black hair, a silver necklace and had only boxers. It strange that nobody bothers about his lack of clothing.
"Not until you put some clothes, stripper" the man he called Gajeel said. He doesn't have eyebrows instead, there were replaced with piercings. Infact, there's seem to be piercings on his arms as well.
"Gray, your clothes" a woman called.
"I DON'T HAVE TIME FOR THAT!" He yelled before that Gajeel guy attacks him from behind.
"So, it's normal for him to strip? I wonder how many times he does that since everyone is not bothered about it" I thought.
I then turn my attention to the woman that called out the stripper. She has long wavy, dark brown hair. She wore bikini top and brown pants. "It's so loud, can't have a drink to relax" she huffs. My jaw dropped as she lifts up an entire barrel of beer and starts drinking it.
"Quit your quarreling guys, you aren't kids anymore" I spun around and gasp at the towering man who spoke with a bored tone. He has spiky white hair and a scar coming down his right eye.
"At least there's a sane person here" I thought happily before noticing the smirk on his face. He slams his fist together and cracks his knuckles.
"I'm a real man! You want me to prove it to you?!" His voice boomed with confidence.
"H-He's encouraging them!" Before I knew it the guy with piercings and the stripper came out of nowhere and punched his face, sending him crashing towards a wall. "They knocked him out that easily" I sweat dropped. "What the hell is wrong with this place?! It's like there isn't a single normal person here!"
"Hello, are you new here?" Said a sweet voice from behind. I turned around and saw one of the most beautiful people I've ever seen, with a smile like an angel. She has long white hair, wore a purple dress with pink bows in some places. She is Mirajane Strauss, I've seen her in more than a hundred sorcerer weekly magazines. She clasps her hands together, still with that heavenly smile. "That's delightful!"
"You're Mirajane Strauss, in the flesh" I said in excitement.
"Yes I am, though everyone just calls me Mira" She said politely as she brought out her hand for a handshake. "And you are?"
"I'm Lucy. Lucy Dragneel" I said as I quickly shake her hand. Then I turn back towards the crazy brawl and pointed at them. "Don't you think, we should do something to stop them?" I wince at a person who got smacked by a table.
Mira lets out a chuckle, turning towards her guild members. "You're free to try to stop them. But don't worry, it's always like this, you're get used to it. Besides, It's actually quite fun to watch" she giggled. From the corner of my eye, I noticed the same white haired tall guy was sent flying again and this time, he was heading straight to crash into Mira. My instincts flared up as I quickly lunged forward, wrapping a hand around Mira's wrist and pulling her close as the flying guy passes us and crashed on a table.
She shot me a surprised look and breathes before smiling. "Oh my, Lucy. Thank you"
I smile in return, dropping Mira's wrist and pulling away before I apologize. "Um, sorry about that"
"No worries" she said. "Really, thank you"
Another crash echoes out from in front of us. I was greeted by a sight I had never ever wanted to see. I quickly cover my eyes, hoping to quickly forget about it. "Shit, gimme my underwear back, metal brain!" The stripper curses, naked!" He growled before turning to my direction. "Excuse miss, would you please lend me your underwear?"
"As if!" I gave the naked man a swift kick to his shin. He goes down with a wince, tumbling over almost immediately.
"Real men fight with their fists!" I hear the giant guy say as he starts getting up. Not wanting another trouble from him, I quickly gave him a Lucy kick to his neck, knocking him out cold.
"This is starting to get really annoying!" The drunken woman groans. "That's enough, you guys! I suggest that you knock it off!" She said with a scowl as she whips out a card, green magic seal appeared on it.
"Oh yeah?! Says who?!" Said the stripper FINALLY with his pants on. A cool white aura before a blue magic seal appeared on his hands. The guild members do the same as well, ready to launch their attacks.
"They always fight like this?" I said, standing in front of Mira and place my hands on my pouch, ready to protect her.
"That's right" she says.
"You don't seem worried!" I said, panicked.
Suddenly, a tall towering giant appeared, his feet shaking the ground with a single step. "WILL YOU FOOLS STOP BICKERING AROUND LIKE CHILDREN!!!" His loud voice boomed across the guild making everyone to freeze in place.
"He's huge, like others I have encountered" I whimper as my heart races, unable to look away from the giant. He lets out the aura that kinda reminds of Igneel scolding me when I do something stupid.
Mira who seemed to be unfazed, greets the giant with a smile. "Oh my, I didn't know you were still here, Master?"
"Did you say master?!" I whisper yelled. The giant turns towards Mira and gives her a nod.
"Gihi! You guys are such scary cats!" The guy with piercings laughs before he was stomped by the giant.
"What the heck?!" I shrink slightly. I froze as the giant turns his attention on me. "I think he heard me" he lean down even further and makes a mere meter stop above her, raising an eyebrow. "Hmm, a newcomer?"
"U-Uh, yes sir!" I squeaked, only for my jaw to drop when the giant begins to emit smoke from his body as he grows smaller and smaller, relieving to be an tiny old man.
"Nice to meet cha!" The man said with a smile.
"He's tiny. This little guy actually in charge here" I said in shock.
"Yes. This is the guild master, Makarov Dreyar" Mira said.
In a short second though, the tiny master jumps away and lands on the wooden railing of the guild second floor. A frown forms on his face as he stares at everyone. "You jerks have gone and done it again! Look at all these documents I received from the council! Every single one of them are all complaints of your stupidity!" A large stack of papers in his hands, trembling in anger. "Have you lost your minds! All you kids do is make the council angry at me!" The guild went deathly silent. Everyone looked down, feeling guilty for upsetting their master. Even I feel bad for him. "However..." He smirked as he ignited the paper in flames and toss it away. Someone in the crowd uses a water magic to quench the fire. "I say to hell with the magic council"
"That looks delicious"
"Now listen up! Any power that surpasses reason still comes from reason, Correct? Magic isn't some unbelievable power. It's a talent that works only when the flow of energy residing in us and the flow of energy in the natural world are perfectly synchronized. You must have a strong mind and the ability to focus to perform magic. It shall take over being and pour over your soul! If you constantly worry about the rules and boundaries then our strength deals never progress further. Don't let these stick in the muds at the council scare you, just follow the path you believe. Cause that's what makes us number one!" He lectured, raising his fist at the end.
The guild roars in cheers that was deafening and booming as the rowdy members of this destructive guild celebrate. I smile, not caring if it was loud to my ears. All I know is that I want to stay. I want to remain here, in the comfort of this warm building with these just as warm welcoming people, go on adventures and make friends. I know I'm going to have difficulty hiding my Salamander identity here, but I can make it work. I'm not ready to tell them I'm a dragon slayer, not yet.
