So I've met Percy.

Still don't how I feel about the guy. I've learned a couple things about him. Apparently he's killed a Fury and the Minotaur. Which is weird to me because he looks like he can't even swing a sword properly. Percy hasn't been claimed yet so naturally he lives in the Hermes Cabin. Hermes Cabin is the largest of all the Cabins in camp because it houses both children of Hermes and the unclaimed because Hermes is the God of Travelers. It might be the largest but it's also the most worn down-looking. It's painted dull brown in which the paint is chipping off, and there's also a caduceus hanging over the door.

Percy has tan skin, messy black hair that's swept to one side, and has green eyes.

Annabeth wanted me to help show him around Camp and tell him all about monsters and stuff. He of course knows little to nothing about life on the other side of the mist and while it's understandable it's also kind of annoying.

Currently, Annabeth and I are telling him about Ambrosia and Nectar.

"Ambrosia and Nectar?" Percy raised an eyebrow in confusion.

"Ambrosia and Nectar are the food and drink that you were given to make you feel better after your fight with the Minotaur. That stuff kills mortals. It can turn your blood into fire and your bones to sand and you'd be dead before you can even finish blinking. That's what proves you're a demigod," I explained to him.

Percy still looked stunned, I can tell he didn't even know what to say.

"Well! A newbie!" A husky voice emerged.

Of course, this is when she decides to come here. Clarisse. She walked toward us with three of her sisters behind her.

"Clarisse," Annabeth sighed. "Why don't you go polish your spear or something?"

"Sure, Miss Princess," Clarisse retorted. "So I can run you through with it Friday night."

"Erre es korakas," Annabeth said in Greek, she pretty much said 'Go to the Crows'.

"We'll see about that, Clarisse," I stepped up to her. "How are your scars from the other day?"

Clarisse had a bandage on her cheek where I had slashed her with my spear, I assumed that she'd have one on the back of her knee as well.

"They're just fine," Clarisse said. "Keep talking like that Lightning Mouth and I'll make sure your knees are on the back side of your pants."

"I'd like to see you try," I retorted. "You don't stand a chance."

"We'll pulverize you," Clarisse said, her eye twitched. "So who's this little runt?"

"Percy Jackson," Annabeth said. "Meet Clarisse, Daughter of Ares."

Percy blinked. "Ares? Like…the war god?"

"You got a problem with that, Prissy?"

"Percy,"

"Whatever," Clarisse said. "I've heard about you. The kid who killed the Minotaur. You don't look like much. What a joke."

Percy whispered to Annabeth. "Do all children of Ares smell like her?"

Percy might've tried to whisper, but it didn't work.

Clarisse growled. "We've got an initiation ceremony for newbies, Prissy. Come on, I'll show you."

"Clarisse-" Annabeth said.

"Stay out of it, wise girl," Clarisse said.

Annabeth looked pained, but she stayed out of it.

"He's the new kid, he'll have to prove himself sooner or later. Whether or not he's gonna prove himself as a good fighter is definitely not in his favor right now though," I whispered to Annabeth.

Percy handed Annabeth the horn and he got ready to fight.

It didn't last long. Ten seconds in Clarisse already had him by the neck and started dragging him toward the bathroom.

"That's not good," I said. I remember going through what Percy's about to go through. It was not a happy experience. "We can't just let him get his head dunked in scummy toilet water."

Annabeth and I ran after them. We entered the bathroom, Clarisse threw Percy onto the floor.

"Like he's 'Big Three' material," Clarisse walked toward him. "The Minotaur probably fell over laughing, if you even did kill it. You think you're special or something, dummy?"

Percy got up and tried to fight, but it was useless, he ended up right back on the floor.

"Leave him alone, Clarisse!" I yelled as I stepped toward her.

Clarisse looked at her sisters, they all gave her a nod and started attacking me. It wasn't hard to fight them but they were coming at me from three out of four of my sides. It also didn't help that Annabeth wasn't fighting them with me.

But then I heard something like pipes ripping. Before I knew it I heard Clarisse screaming. We stopped fighting and saw her on the floor, drenched. Just then the toilets exploded, giant pools of water coming from the pipes and toilets. The water knocked Clarisse away toward the entrance and when the water came to us…we weren't spared.

Before I could even think about what was going on I was swept away in a large wave of toilet water. When I opened my eyes I took a good look at myself. I was drenched in water and covered in mud. The stench of sewage was all I could smell. It didn't help either that so many of the campers were looking. But luckily I wasn't the only one being embarrassed here. Clarisse and her sisters were covered in mud too.

Just then Annabeth and Percy walked out. Annabeth was drenched in water, but I couldn't help but think of why she wasn't washed outside like the rest of us. And I noticed that Percy was the only one completely dry. Maybe he caused this.

I stood up and walked over to them.

"Did you do this!?" I yelled.

"I…think so," Percy said.

"You're weird, new guy. Something's up with you, I'm gonna get to the bottom of it," I said to him before I walked away.

Water and I never mix. Mostly because water belongs to my father's rival/brother Poseidon. It is his domain. That's why I can never go into the water, I've tried that before and I almost drowned. Not because I can't swim, but because I felt the water literally dragging me down. I learned that Big Three kids are always at risk when in the domain of one of the Big Three. Poseidon and Hades children are at risk in the sky (mostly Poseidon than Hades), Zeus and Hades children are at risk in the water (mostly Zeus than Hades), and Poseidon and Zeus children are at risk in the Underworld.

Then that made me think. Maybe there really was a simple reason that Annabeth didn't get pushed out by the water and why Percy was dry. Maybe there was a reason that I was pushed out by the water too.

Maybe Percy…is a son of Poseidon.

So after I took a shower and washed my clothes until I got the sewage smell out, I learned that automatically what happened in the bathroom began to spread. By the time I was finished with my clothes it was time for dinner. I headed to the pavilion, you know the best part about having a Cabin all to yourself is that you don't have to deal with getting everybody in order to lead them to the pavilion.

I marched up toward the hill towards the mess hall pavilion. The satyrs joined the Cabin members along with the Naiads and Dryads. There was also a little girl who was about nine or ten years old who was skipping up the hill. It's kinda weird that throughout the five years I've been here she's never aged.

At the pavilion, torches blazed around the marble columns. A central fire burned in a bronze brazier that is the size of a bathtub. Each cabin had its own table, covered in white cloth trimmed purple.

Three of the tables were empty: Hera, Artemis, and Poseidon (maybe not for long though if my suspicions are correct).

I sat down at table one, the table for Zeus children.

Chiron (he's the camp activities director, he's also a centaur. Half man, half horse and his bottom horse half was the color of a white stallion) pounded his hoof against the marble floor of the pavilion, and everybody fell silent. He raised a glass: "To the gods!"

We all raised our glasses: "To the gods!"

The wood nymphs came forward with platters of food: grapes, apples, strawberries, cheese, fresh bread, steak, mashed potatoes, and barbecue. My glass was empty, but I knew what to do. All I had to do was tell it what type of drink I wanted.

"Gold Coca Cola," I said, the glass filled itself with fizzing Coca Cola that was the color gold. The color doesn't affect the drink, it's like a design.

I drank a toast to my late sister and brother as always. I got up with everybody else to put a portion of my food in the fire for the gods, they like the smell of it.

I approached the fire, bowed my head and scraped some mashed potatoes and grapes into the fire and whispered. "Zeus, I don't want to rush you, but I think I might need you now more than ever. I want to be worthy of being called your son, but I think that someone has arrived at camp who will prevent me from doing just that. Just please, send me a sign, send me a sign that you care about me, that you see me…"

I walked back to the Cabin One table and started eating what I had left. By the time I finished eating everybody else had as well. Chiron pounded his hoof for our attention once more.

This time Mr. D (who is actually a god named Dionysus who was placed here by Zeus as a punishment) stood up and began to speak with a huge sigh. "Yes, I suppose I'd better say hello to all you brats. Well, hello. Our activities director, Chiron, says the next capture the flag is Friday. Cabin five presently holds the laurels."

Ugly cheering came from the Ares table. The last four games of Capture the Flag in which they've led a team they have always won. I've only ever led a team for one game of Capture the Flag. It was the Zeus team against the Athena team. And my team lost badly. Since then I've never led a team in Capture the Flag.

"Personally," Mr. D continued. "I couldn't care less, but congratulations. Also, I should tell you that we have a new camper today. Peter Johnson."

Chiron murmured something to him.

"Er, Percy Jackson," Mr. D corrected himself. "That's right. Hurrah, and all that. Now run along to your silly campfire. Go on."

We cheered. We headed down to the amphitheater, where the Apollo Cabin, just like they always do, led the sing-along. We sang camp songs about the gods and ate s'mores and joked with each other. I'm not the type for sing-alongs, just never cared for them.

When the sparks from the campfire were curling into a starry sky, the conch horn blew again, and we all filed back to our cabins.

I walked to Zeus cabin and put on my bedtime clothes: A white shirt with a lightning bolt on it and some shorts.

In the Zeus Cabin there's a ten-foot statue of Zeus, it's pretty creepy though. Sometimes I feel like it's staring at me. But nevertheless I looked at the statue and said a silent prayer to Zeus before I fell asleep.

Suddenly I was on a dark gray cloud. I looked around, it was a pitch black sky with gray clouds all around me. I heard thunder as I walked.

"You…" I heard a raspy, old and ancient voice. I turned and turned but I couldn't see where the voice was coming from.

"Me?"

"You…I can feel it. So afraid. So angry."

I tried to get my chapstick spear, or grab my earring, or even one of my spiked bracelets but neither of them were on me. I was defenseless.

"I'm not either of those things! Why don't you show yourself and let me see you!" I yelled.

"You tell lies…I can feel your bitterness. Your resentment. You keep it hidden."

"SHOW YOURSELF!" The thunder got even louder.

"Little hero…there will be a time where you will have to choose. A time where your fate will be set in stone. The time will come…soon…"

"What? What time!? What are you talking about!? Tell me!" I yelled.

Suddenly I fell through the clouds, and I was free falling toward the ground. Just as I was about to hit the hard ground I woke up with a start. I was breathing heavily. I didn't know what was going on. I felt so powerless, but I was in the sky, or at least I guess I was.

That time-whatever that voice was talking about-it can't have been talking about the prophecy. Because the half-blood needs to be sixteen. I'm only twelve.

Just what is going on?

The next few days it was on my mind. But I was also training for Capture the Flag. And I was also helping Percy discover what he was actually good at. I tried to see if he was good at fighting with a spear, but it didn't go so well. He's terrible at using a spear. After that though I stalked him while he was doing his other activities to see if I was right about him being a child of Poseidon.

Foot racing? Nope. Wrestling? Clarisse pulverized him. Archery? He almost shot one of the Apollo kids' in the head…he was supposed to be aiming for the target at the far left. Metalwork? He almost took Beckendorf's head off while trying to make a sword.

And would you believe it? The only thing he excelled at was canoeing, on water. That's another hint.

I did see Percy training with Luke in sword fighting. Maybe sword fighting will be Percy's thing. Especially if Luke's training him. I might not interact with the guy but Luke's the best swordsman in three hundred years. So imagine my surprise when I saw Percy actually disarm him.

Then it was time, Friday evening. Plates were now cleared away and it was time to prepare for Capture the Flag. Everybody was standing at their tables as the conch horn sounded. Campers yelled and cheered as Annabeth and two of her siblings ran into the pavilion carrying a silk banner. It was ten feet long, glistening gray, with a painting of a barn owl above an olive tree.

Then from the opposite side of the pavilion, Clarisse and two of her siblings ran in with a banner that's an identical size. Clarisse's flag is gaudy red, painted with a bloody spear and a boar's head.

Then the teams were announced. Athena made an alliance with Zeus, Apollo, and Hermes. We had to make arrangements with showers and privileges: showers, chores, and best slots for activities.

Ares allied themselves with everybody else: Dionysus, Demeter, Aphrodite, and Hephaestus. Dionysus cabin only had two people: Castor and Pollux. They're pretty good athletes but that's really it.

You need to watch out when it comes to the Demeter cabin if they use their outdoor powers, but when it comes to using weapons the Demeter cabin are a bunch of pushovers.

The children of Aphrodite aren't really a problem, we might have only a bit of trouble if Drew uses her Charmspeak.

Aside from Ares cabin the Hephaestus kids are probably the biggest threat. Even though there's only four of them. The Hephaestus kids are tall and burly and durable, not to mention their proficiency in traps and machinery.

Chiron hammered his hoof on the marble floor. "Heroes! You know the rules. The creek is the boundary line. The entire forest is fair game. All magic items are allowed. The banner must be prominently displayed, and have no more than two guards. Prisoners may be disarmed, but not be bound or gagged. No killing or maiming is allowed. I will serve as referee and battlefield medic. Arm yourselves!"

Chiron spread his hands, and the tables were suddenly covered with equipment: helmets with blue or red plumes, bronze armor, celestial bronze swords, spears, oxhide shields coated in metal.

I put on everything I could. I had on a helmet with a blue plume, the bronze chestplate, and I put on two leather bracers (one on each arm).

I uncapped the chapstick I had and my spear expanded from it. Then I pressed down on the center of my bronze ring, my arm glowed and suddenly a shield was now on my arm.

Aegis. It was a bronze shield with a design of Medusa's face on it.

I walked over to Percy who was still picking out weapons.

"Are you ready for your first Capture the Flag game?" I asked.

He looked surprised at my sudden appearance. "Not really."

"Well I saw your skill with a sword, don't know if it'll be enough but your okay with it, I've never seen anybody disarm Luke before," I said

"Have you been stalking me?" Percy asked.

"Yes," I said.

"And you say I'm weird. But you never know, maybe I won't even need a sword," Percy responded.

The Ares, Hephaestus, Dionysus, and Demeter cabins all let out a battle cry.

"I'm gonna need a sword," Percy corrected himself. "Are we really supposed to use these?"

"Unless you want to get skewered by your friends in Cabin Five," Luke walked up to us. "Here, Chiron said these would fit. You'll be on border patrol."

Luke and I finally locked eyes. "Alaster."

"Luke," I responded. Then I walked away.

After a moment of waiting, Annabeth finally yelled out. "Blue team, forward!"

We cheered and shook our weapons and followed her down the path to the south woods. The red team yelled taunts at us as we walked away. We scattered into the trees and waited until the conch finally blew. We roared a battle cry as we ran. Campers and I raced past Percy and into enemy territory.

We were confronted almost immediately. I dodged swords from them and countered with my own strikes. I thrusted my spear into the chestplate of a Demeter kid, making them fall on the back. I knocked more campers down and I continued to advance.

As I went on with a group of blue team members there were less enemies. But when I heard something, one of us stepped on something. One of the blue team members backed up, and we saw what was under his foot. A pressure plate.

"GET DOWN!" I yelled. We all hit the ground. Electric nets shot out, but they missed all of us. Hephaestus kids. They set up traps.

Just then we were swarmed by red team members. We got up as quickly as we could but we were surrounded, there were only seven of us and twice as many of them.

I fought with all my might, these guys aren't as hard to fight, but strength and numbers is a thing for a reason. The blue team members I was with fell one by one until I was the only one left. They all rounded on me.

Fourteen against one. I blocked attacks with Aegis and struck them with my spear. I was careful enough to try not to maim them. As I fought I couldn't help but think if my father was watching. I imagined what he would think of me if I was overwhelmed in this moment. Then he'd never see me as worthy.

So I took a deep breath…and then blew a powerful gust of wind out of my mouth!! I knocked them all off their feet and they met the ground.

"You guys know bounding people with nets is against the rules, right?" I told them.

Just then, I saw somebody running past us. It was Luke. In his hand…it was the flag! LUKE HAD THE FLAG!

I heard battle cries and looked behind us, we saw a crowd of red team members charging at us.

"Get up! Get up! Retreat! We have the flag!" I ran as I yelled. I don't know if my team was behind me, the only thing I heard was the roars of the red team getting closer and closer. But then I met up with more blue team members and we fought back some of the red team with them.

Just then we heard the conch blow. We won.

The blue team cheered as we all united in friendly territory. But then the cheering died down. We heard something. It was a growl.

Chiron shouted "Stand ready! My bow!" in Ancient Greek. I prepared myself with my spear and Aegis and looked around. That's when we saw it, on the rocks was a hellhound, it was the size of a rhino and had eyes as red as lava and had fangs that looked like daggers.

"Percy, run!" Annabeth yelled. She stepped in front of Percy but the hellhound jumped over her and onto him. It attacked him, ripping through the armor. It wasn't long before arrows from Chiron and the Apollo kids launched and all hit the hellhound. The monster fell dead. Percy's armor was shredded and he was badly cut.

"Di immortales!" Annabeth said. "That's a hellhound from the Fields of Punishment.

"Someone summoned it," Chiron said. "Someone inside the camp."

Luke came over, the banner in his hand now had a caduceus instead of a spear and a boar's head.

"It's all Percy's fault! Percy summoned it!" Clarisse yelled.

"Be quiet, child," Chiron told her.

We watched as the hellhound dissolved into shadows and into the ground until it disappeared.

"You're wounded," I said as I walked up to him. "Percy, get in the water now."

"I'm okay," Percy said

"No, you're not," Annabeth said. "Chiron, watch this."

Percy stepped into the creek, we all gathered around to look at him.

He was healing. He was healing in water. But then there was something glowing. Glowing above his head. It was a large hologram of a green trident. I was right. We all gasped.

"Look, I-I don't know why," Percy said. "I'm sorry…"

"Percy, look," Annabeth said, pointing.

Percy looked up, he saw the trident.

"Your father," Annabeth murmured. "This is really not good."

"It is determined," Chiron announced.

We all kneeled.

"My father?" Percy asked, bewildered.

"Poseidon," Chiron said. "Earthshaker, Stormbringer, Father of Horses. Hail, Perseus Jackson, Son of the Sea God."
