AN: Happy holidays everybody! As a present, here's a scene which has absolutely nothing to do with the holidays!
Masha hummed to themself as they wandered through the woods behind Vee's house. They knew Vee would likely disapprove of what they were trying to do, but surely just popping over to this "Demon Realm" and taking a picture or two wouldn't hurt, right? Of course, that premise relied on actually finding the portal Vee said she came through, which was… not going well, to say the least.
They had been hoping something like an inter-dimensional portal would be at least somewhat obvious, but so far no luck (which was admittedly rather obvious in hindsight). Really, the only thing even remotely out of place was this old cabin, but that obviously wasn't it, right?
…Or maybe it was…
'She did say she came through a portal door, didn't she?' Masha thought as they approached the shack. They reached the front door and opened it…
To reveal a gray-haired woman with mismatched eyes and a displeased expression glaring at them. "May I help you?" the woman asked impatiently.
Masha gave a nervous chuckle. "Hehe, sorry, I… thought this place was abandoned."
The woman just rolled her eyes and grabbed the door. "I swear, I need to put up a sign or something," Masha heard her grumble as she closed it.

Hey so about that portal u said u came through
It didn't happen 2 lead 2 an old shack did it?
Vee
…Why?
Masha
Cuz I found it out in the woods…
Except there's some lady living there now
"Huh," Vee said to herself as she read Masha's texts. "Guess we should have given them a heads up…"
Luz looked up from her book. "Sorry, what?" she asked, having not been paying attention.
"Apparently Masha went looking for the portal and found the old cabin."
"Oh. Did she… meet one of them?"
"Sounds like it."
"Uh… Oops?"
"You can say that again," Vee said, mentally adding "witches living in the backyard" to her list of things to explain.
